Review from fran d.
Long Beach, CA
for a while i worked nearby this pollo loco and order their salads. i think of all the fast food places, PL's has the best salads. bar none.
i no longer work nearby this PL but yesterday i stopped by nevertheless and order their crunchy chicken tacos.
they were pretty damn good as far as chicken tacos go. especially since i am not a fan of anything but red meat on my tacos.
thank you crazy chicken for being there all those years (and not screwing up my order ever) and for now introducing me to the crunchy chicken taco. -
Review from Tim C.
Stopped in here when I saw a sign on their window for $1 taco - taquito. I had to stop in here. The door I open seems to be cranked a little heavy so it seems like I couldn't open the door.
I walk right up to the counter, haven't been in an El Pollo Loco for quite some time. I was greeted by the manager with, "Hola, como estas? May I take your order." I asked about the $1 taco and the manager asked me what kind. I was like, you serve only chicken here so just a chicken taco please.
He further explained that there is the al carbon or the taquito which is a rolled taco. I wanted the al carbon for sure. I then saw the $1 shake/malt on the menu board. Sounds like a deal but then was pointed out that it's only $1 when you order one of the combos.
So I got 1 al carbon and 1 chocolate malt. Waiting for my order and watching this guy waiting for his order. He's like building a model of a house or something with loads of salsa. Covers it with a napkin like no one sees it at all. His order is ready so the one thing he does is grab his order and fills another container with chopped onions. He calls the manager and asks him in Spanish for cilantro since the salsa bar was out. While the manager was taking care of that, it's like he wanted his back turned and quickly grabs a stash of napkins. It just seemed so funny.
Well, after the people watching, my order is up. I woof down the taco and try to suck up the malt. It's like it's almost solid but will be good when it softens up. Place was empty by the time I was rolling out of there. Seems like a quick stop for a byte. Salsa bar somehow screams trouble to me so none of that for me.
