El Paso International Airport
10 reviews for El Paso International Airport
I probably use this airport more often than all the other reviewers combined so heed my words.
This is not a bad airport at all and the best thing about the airport is the parking, which is very close, and the distance to the terminals. If you are flying Continental, however, you do have a bit of a hike. But it's manageable and they have people begging to give you a ride to the gate on their little carts.
The TSA folks are efficient and friendly.
The food is improving now that they have closed Tortilla Flats and added the small food court. Most of us are waiting for the Taco Tote, however. The tiny bar is hosted by Dula, who is a great bartender.
Now, lets talk about the name. International? Please. Why do cities insist on overselling themselves all the time (El Paso is frequently guilty of this). People, there are no international flights from/to this airport. Enough already.
The other problem that I have heard about is the unbelievably high cost of rental cars due to high demand. Jeez, get some more cars already.
If you fly in and your not in a hurry, go to the military information booth and see if anybody needs a ride home or to the base. You'll be glad you did.

Thx Txs!
Another little airport with a quick in quick out. It's nice to speed through the tidy little terminal. Ok, tidy was a little much. Dusty little terminal and off to your rental car in no time flat.
One problem. When you get your stuff, pick up your rental and leave the airport...you're in El Paso.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww....it's so cute! I just want to pick it up and give it a hug! Didn't really take notice when I landed since I was in a foul mood (thanks American Airlines!), but I had time when I was departing, so I strolled through and stopped at their Booger King with The Woman for a quick bite. This is a nice clean airport. Nobody seemed to be in a hurry, especially since the security checkpoint is right in front of the planes and this airport doesn't exactly attract crowds. The walkway to board the plane had a standard family-sized refrigerator in it for the crews' lunches, which I thought was cool for some reason. *shrug* Easily the best and most relaxed airport experience I have ever had.

Contrary to most of the reviews on here, ELP is a great place to fly in or out. Not only has the airport been transformed in recent years (new checkpoints, shopping plaza, facade replacement), but it is in fact, very clean and not very crowded. Yes, this is a small airport; there are only two terminals: A and B. Furthermore, all the gates in the terminals are in the same area. So, even if your flight plays "musical gates" as Refugio G. claims, the only inconvenience involves walking a few feet across the room from gate 1, to gate 2, or 3.
From what I know, ELP flies to Denver, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, LA, and I'm sure there are others. And of course, it wouldn't be international without a flight into Juarez, Mexico. The airlines include, but aren't limited to: American, Frontier, Continental, Delta, Southwest, and US Airways. Most other airports I've been to, I try and make it there about 2hrs before my flight leaves to make time for check-in and baggage check. At ELP, I arrive one hour before my flight, and the entire process takes about 15min. If flying during the holidays, add about 10min to the time it takes to check your luggage, and go through security.
Admittedly, this may not be the best airport to hang-out in for a layover, but its a great airport if it is your starting point, or final destination. And, the only delays I have experienced have been because my destination city is having delay problems. Of all the airports I have flown to: Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Lubbock, Austin, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Chicago (O'Hare and Midway), Charlotte, and Denver, El Paso is one of the cleanest and most easy to navigate. Happy Flying!

No frills airport!
I'm coming from Chicago O'hare - it seems like it's the biggest and confusing airport, so when I go to other cities, it's no big deal. All you need are terminals, food, and bathrooms and I think every airport would have 4 stars.
Attention all American Airlines passengers going to DFW, we will begin boarding shortly and at gate 3
20 minutes later:
Attention all American Airlines passengers going to DFW, we will begin boarding shortly and at gate 1
30 minutes after that:
Attention all American Airlines passengers going to DFW, we will begin boarding shortly and at gate 3 again
an hour and a half later:
Attention all American Airlines passengers going to DFW, we will begin boarding shortly and at gate 2 this time.
After I finally got on the plane and left the sweaty terminal, we still had to wait over an hour for the flight to leave.
In all fairness to the Airport, there was a storm in Dallas, but this was ridiculous, musical gates?! WTF?!

I had an hour lay-over on my way back to Austin from Las Vegas.
I give this airport 5 stars for not being crowded and quiet enough for me to peacefully read a book.
I give this airport 0 stars on its crappy food selection. There were two places to eat and I must have chose the wrong one. I ordered an overpriced, 2-day-old, lamp-heated cheeseburger.
This is the third time I've been in this airport. I hope I never have a lay-over here again.

Well, I've never had a bad experience here and this airport is almost never crowded compared to other airports I've traveled too. It's a pretty small airport. Not a lot of food selections to eat from, nor great shopping stores. But, it's QUIET and that's good enough for me.

El Paso International gets recognition for their weekly long term parking rate of only $22! I just thought that was amazing and I was very impressed.
I've been to a few airports where the price of parking for a few hours would equal the same amount... It's always nice to have extra spending money on your travels!
The final destination of my recent excursion. I was greeted by a spacious terminal and very little crowds. This place is clean and modern. No traffic at all. The only downside, no free WI-FI.
