What can I say this was the perfect getaway for my birthday.

At first I was skeptical as we pulled up to the establishment.  It sits within a residential neighborhood in the middle of HOT Desert Springs.  My doubts were soon subdued as we entered past the pea-cock feathered walkway into the reception area after Steve opened the door for us magically as I reached for the knob.

Steve checked us in and immediately made us felt at home.  What made this birthday extra special was that he informed us that we had the whole place all to ourselves as nobody else was checking in that night. Woohoo!  We received the tour of the grounds and a lesson in starting the fireplaces.  As all have mentioned in the reviews before mine, Bruce has really put his passion into making his hotel into a true Moroccan getaway.  From the walls to the carpets to the new fireplace which warms the night's sky.  No detail left without the Moroccan attention.

Steve gave us the tour of the bedroom and I was surprised at how beautiful the room was.  My honey especially enjoyed the soft sheets and mattress.  The decor was beautiful.  From the area rug to the comforter to the lil ole Moroccan end tables, it definitely made one feel out of country.

Happy Hour! Yes if you stay here please enjoy the free happy hour.  If you enjoy the happy hour please have their Morrocotinis!  They are delicious.  They keep them flowing as well.  If they see your glass start to empty a hand is quickly pouring your glass full!  We tried to tip Steve for the drinks but he declined and assured us we are his guests and no tip is needed! WOwOWEEEWA!

SPA!  If you stay here you know you just want to relax!  You must get the royal treatment and setup a massage with their specialists.  1.5 hours of pure relaxation after a whole day of reading by the pool makes the day complete!

Hot Tub?  A hot tub that fits a max of 20 people?  Ok? This means big?  And pretty much the whole time we were here we were the only ones in the tub! Drink lots of water before getting in because it get's HOT!!

Service:  The service here was the best.  Steve and nicoletta were always making sure everyone was ok and having a good time.  From help with dinner reservations to details on where to tour or how about a hookah with some coconut flavored tobacco. You will get what you want just ask!

I left out a couple of the things available here because you must explore for yourself ok?  Good job Honey!

Its amazing what you can do with a vision. The owners took a pretty average piece of land with little around it in terms of commercial options and turned it into a 5 star inn.

There is attention to detail in every possible corner. There is no nickel and diming. They include the pool, spa, sauna, fresh water, fresh iced tea, happy hour, great breakfast and personalized service all for the cost of the room rate.  The location allows the inn to get the natural hot spring water pumped in directly.   This is the place to stay if you want to relax in spring water, and lounge by a pool. I would be reluctant to go out the front door to my car simply because it will terminate the time warp.

This is an amazing use of space, for approx 7 rooms to include multiple fireplaces, an amazing assortment of books, games, sitting and lounge chairs you will never be rushed or hurried. If you are planning to spend most of your time in Palm Springs stay down there. If you want to relax and unwind without worries... stay here.

This is the most relaxing place in the world.

We stayed here for 2 nights in Berber's Boudoir and took full advantage of the included amenities. We sipped on Humphrey Bogarts (moroccan mint tea and lemonade) and sherry nightcaps, reclined on the canopied couches, swam in the mineral water pool and hot tub (sooo good for my skin!), and even watched Casablanca on the big screen in the library.

We only left once to go to dinner at Native Foods. Other than that, we enjoyed grapefruit and avocado from their yummy breakfast spread, had lunch delivered to us poolside, and didn't have a care in the world.

Our favorite part of the stay was the nightly happy hour with sake cocktails called Moroccotinis. The drinks are really yummy, and they definitely know how to pour! During our stay we did meet two of the innkeepers, but for our first night we were with a hostess named Nicolletta, and she was just as welcoming and hospitable, and we had a great conversation at the happy hour.  At about 7pm, the innkeepers leave and it just feels like you have this whole Moroccan playground to yourself.  The attention to detail and Moroccan authenticity in all the decor (from the lamps to the doorknobs to the bathrobes to the sandalwood scented lotion) makes for a full sensory experience.

We also added on a spa package including 2 Marrakesh Melting massages, a scalp massage and the "Royal Foot Treatment".  The experience was great, and among the better massages I've had.

Could not recommend this place more highly, and can't wait to go back. I also feel like this would be a great place to go with a group, and rent out the whole place!

Dear El Morocco Inn,
I realize that it would be selfish of me to hold on to you all for myself, but promise that you'll at least try to save a spot in your memories for me.  You must know that there is always a special place in my heart for you and I will recount my days with you to every person who is willing to listen to this bittersweet love story.
Romancing me in your arms with Casablanca playing in the background.  Moonlit nights sitting around the fire pit sipping on your special blend -- the Morocco-tini and Humphrey Bogarts.  Surrounding me in comfort and coziness, how is a girl supposed to resist all of your efforts?
You have stolen my heart and my separation from you since has been extremely hard to handle.  I know its what must be done, but there is just something about you that I keep holding on to.  Is there a chance for you and I to rendezvous again?

What can I say about the quaint El Morocco Inn and Spa? It is a fabulous fabulous place to stay if you are looking for a nice weekend getaway. It is located in a rather strange area (right in the middle of a residential neighborhood), but once you walk through the front door, a set of peacock feathers immediately transports you to their beautiful Moroccan oasis. I just returned from a weekend stay there (December 14-16... planned a weekend trip for my husband as a Christmas gift) and everything people have already said about this place is true! Bruce, John, and Steve are as hospitable as they come and it was such a pleasure to see people take so much pride not only in their work, but in making sure every guest felt important. While El Morocco Inn is not a huge 5-star resort, the service and attention to detail in their decor far exceeds the fanciness of those luxury resorts (and we've stayed at the best of them!). I was amazed at all of the things they came up with to make sure guests felt pampered: snacks and drinks laid out throughout the day (their Morocco Mint Tea is wonderful!), complimentary dvds for you to watch in your room or in the library (with soda, snacks and popcorn included!), and the ever-so-popular happy hour with Moroccotinis! (I was wearing a bathing suit under my robe and John was even nice enough to bring out a blanket for me without me having to ask. Now how is that for hospitality?) This was by far my favorite part of the stay because it allowed us to mingle with all the other guests and hear the great stories Bruce, John and Steve had to share. With all these inclusive amenities, you certainly get a lot of bang for your buck! And the couples massage we had was probably the BEST massage I have ever experienced!

I can go on and on about how wonderful this place is, but I'd be writing a novel! There are a few VERY VERY tiny things I would point out to them, just to help make their resort even better: the air conditioning in our room was a bit bothersome when we slept as the noise woke us up frequently in the middle of the night, the beds were a bit soft, and the floor of our room was a tad painful for bare feet since it was covered with a rough type of carpet. However, these factors definitely would not keep me from visiting again. My husband and I absolutely loved it and miss the guys already! I hope we have a chance to make it back soon!

You know how sometimes you need a vacation after a vacation?  Well, not after you spend some time at El Morocco.  I am going through some major withdrawal after having spent only 2 nights there!  You guys, I cannot sing enough praises about this place!  El Morocco is clearly a labor of love by the Abney family and friends.  The service is spectacular, the amenities are amazing, and you REALLY feel like you are in a whole different world.  I felt like I was transported to some Moroccan hide-away, minus the sand.  My favorite part of each day was the happy hour where Bruce or Steve treated us to a rosewater handwashing before rolling out the awesome Morocco-tinis.  The staff are super-helpful with any questions you might have, whether it's how to make the most of a day trip to Joshua Tree, where to grab a good bite to eat, or anything else you might be interested in doing the the Desert Hot Springs/Palm Springs area.  I had read some awesome reviews about El Morocco on http://tripadvisor.com and couldn't believe that so many people had given such positives reviews about a place...but the reviews are legit!!!  This place is the real deal, and I can't wait to go back!

Bruce and Steve, if you're reading this, a big HELLO from Laurie and Sarah!!! :)
