El Mariachi is Spanish for "happy tummy"

I grew up in Coral Springs and from the time my family discovered it, El Mariachi became my favorite restaurant in South Florida. While they've grown to a few stores now, the original Mariachi was a small storefront near the Coral Square Mall, where owner Marco and his team served up delicious, authentic ("Mama's recipes") Mexican dishes. I've since moved away, but have to visit everytime I'm back in South Florida. The sopa de pollo, bistec a la tampiquena and fried ice cream are to die for!

Okay, so there aren't enough vegetarian options for me (rice & beans or veggie fajitas). But my mom likes the place, and she doesn't have Yelp, so five stars.

My wife and I went to El Mariachi on Father's Day.  I think I liked everything about the trip.  I ordered the Chuletas (pork chops) and they were terrific.  My wife's carnitas were good too.  The service was great; our waitress was checking on us at all the right times and my glass never got below half empty.  The waitress also went out of her way to entertain our daughter.  The atmosphere was pleasant, darker and quieter than most Mexican restaurants in the area.  We ate pretty early so I don't know what it's like when it's busy, but we had a great time.

I admit that I'm not usually blown away by the thought of Mexican... but wow, what a welcome surprise I found in this place! The food is amazingly fresh and full of flavor. The margaritas are all fantastic and the service has always been top notch. The girl behind the bar is beautiful also. Maybe I should go there tonight........ ;)

This is a loooonnng time favorite of mine.  Both their mexican and cuban style menus are excellent!  And their black beans and rice are my favorite around town.  Let me go on....fabulous margaritas, great yucca, and delicious plantains!  The atmosphere is pleasant, not too overdone or cheesey.  The staff is always nice and makes good recommendations to newcomers.  On occasion I have sat in the bar area when there is live music, but I am not sure if this is a regular thing, or not.
