The El Cordova Hotel is a Coronado Classic.  It has been on the island for a number of years and carries with it an old School charm that you just dont find at an regular joint.  With all that being said, you cannot expect to find modern ameninities, at your notice room service, nor are you going to be showered with fine dining nor impecciable luxory.

The Hotel sits roughly 2 blocks from the beach.  Designed with an old school mexican/spanish style, its very unique for the Island of Coronado, yet fitting for the Border town of San Diego.  Within the complex of the Hotel you will find a small Pool & Jacuzzi, the Mexican Restaurant Miguels, the Coffee shop Binos, Bike and Beach rental store Little Sam's, and a few other small service and sales shops.

If you are looking for a laid back casual gettaway without all the frilly charms of all the big mega chain hyatt/marriot style, then the El Cordova is for you.  Come for a day, weekend, or even a month to relax and get away!  Enjoy the quiet setting, relax at the pool and just forget about lifes worries at the El Cordova.  It truly is a gem of the Coronado Island and will hopefully be standing for a many years to come!

Location location location.  That's el Cordova's claim to fame.  It's not a terrible place, but it's also not that great.  It's rather expensive, but they had a buy 3 get one special, which we took advantage of.  It's right across from the hotel Del, which basically means that you get 90% of the Del's location (unless you pay for a seaside room) for 25% of the price.

Our AC barely worked (we're northeasterners, so we like it ice cold at night) but it worked just enough not to call the front desk.  There was no fan in the bathroom, which was connected to the bedroom, and the handles made it a challenge to take a hot shower without getting scalded or frozen at least once.  The bed was mostly comfortable, and came with a ton of pillows.  The first night we had a duvet, but they came and replaced it with two sheets the next night....not really disappointing, but weird.  There was also no curtain on the kitchen window, which stinks because everybody likes to walk around in their underwear in hotel rooms...right?  Also, our room was DIRECTLY across from Miguel's in the center of the courtyard, so it was loud from 12-9, but not unbearable.

In the end, they did nothing wrong, but it wasn't pleasant enough to warrant more stars, especially for the price they ask for.

Also, Luis G can you say plant?  Guy's got three reviews for three hotels, and all of them are 5 star....yeeeeeeeeeah, right.  Our hotel room looked nothing like the ones in the photos, and the pool photo is taken as close to the fence as possible.  The pool isn't unpleasant, but it's not the tropical oasis it looks like in that shot.

El Cordova was built in 1902 and carries with it a rich history (originally built as a mansion). Beaches are just a few minutes, which is always a plus in my book. My sister loves to shop so she couldn't help but rave about the 10+ shops. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel's intimate atmosphere the most. I found the best rate on http://www.getaroom.com.

El Cordova is a great place in a great location at an affordable price.

The El Cordova offers an informal Spanish garden and courtyard environment, with spacious rooms, suites and an attentive staff to insure a memorable stay. The rooms are all unique and most offer kitchen facilities. The Hotel sits in the heart of the Village of Coronado, one block or less from the best beaches on the Island. Shopping, restaurants, theater and recreational activities are within walking distance and the Hotel has four restaurants and twelve boutique shops on site.

The picturesque Coronado Village is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the South and West, San Diego bay to the North and Glorietta Bay to the East. The majestic Coronado Bridge connects the Village to downtown San Diego while the peninsula known as the Silver Strand provides access to a stretch of more beautiful beaches and the gateway to Mexico by land. Its proximity to San Diego and its many attractions makes Coronado a perfect destination while visiting the San Diego Area.
