This is a small, fast-food (but high-quality) Mexican place. It's not cheap (you can easily spend $8 on lunch if you're hungry) but you get what you pay for.
The food is very good. The meats are cooked with good spices and are not too greasy. The food is rugged and coarse, but in my opinion, could be a little bit more so (i like it rough! no lettuce please!). The seafood items are fried; I'd prefer they weren't. I like their tortillas. If you get beans and rice, they're cooked just right. On the side they have (free of charge) unlimited chips and salsa, with a number of salsas to choose from, including salsa fresca / pico de gallo (very fresh I might add), and a wicked hot salsa with smoked chile peppers that I like very much. The salsa & chips deal makes the prices here a pretty good deal. The chips are good too. The green salsa leaves a bit to be desired.
The other plus...a nice outdoor seating area, and a convenient location, a short walk from the beach. (Don't give up your parking space, because you might not find one over here.)
The bottom line? This place might have one or two small ways they could improve the food, but they are only minor complaints. I will continue to come back here often.
Best shrimp taco I've ever had. It's a bit overpriced and it's cash only, but everything I've ever had has been above average. Plus they're the only Mexican food place I've ever watched ER at during lunch.

I came to San Diego with a few things I had to do. Sea kayaking, San Diego Zoo, the beach and eat tacos, specifically fish tacos. I succeedded in all of these things, with the fish tacos topping off a fantastic sea kayak trip a few blocks away at La Jolla Cove. Inexpensive tacos and other mexican treats served at this quaint joint. May not be the best in the area, but I was very happy with what I ate and so was my girlfriend. If I'm back in the area I'll go get more tacos.

Just opened last fall. A cash only joint. The food is average, some items better than others and I am partial to their carnitas. I do like the fact that the burritos are wrapped tightly and blowouts are easily avoided. The salsas are also average but they do offer Agua Frescas (from the fountain of course). The service is always friendly. This is a good option in the LJ Shores area, esp. if the Cheese Shop is crowded or if you want a quick meal. I'm sure during the summer all the tourists will overrun this place.
