3 reviews for El Caporal Mexican Restaurant
This is a great Mexican Restaurant. In response to an earlier review I would like to add that yes, 'american tacos" are available, however they also include authentic mexican tacos with a soft corn tortilla, pico de gallo , and fabulous steak, chicken etc.. My family and I have eaten here numerous times. We have always had outstanding food, service and drinks! There portions are generous and their menu is fairly priced. Everything is always super fresh!
Nestled in a strip of shops and other small restaurants is this sizable Mexican diner. This is a good clean place, tastefully decorated and they have a good selection of dishes for lunch and dinner. Everything is reasonably priced and the portions are good for what you will pay.
Another thing I liked was the decent selection of Mexican beer. I do enjoy a cold Modelo Especial with my lunch or dinner....
The downside here is that this is not really close to anything like authentic Mexican fare, think of it as "Mexican-American". The tacos are made using the same (hell, maybe the *exact* same) Taco Bell style preformed shell, however they do stuff it with far more meat and fillings than you would EVER get at a Taco Hell. I also believe that the beans are of the freeze-dried, water re-constituted variety and not made from boiled pinto beans made on the premises.
Nit picking? Maybe. But I don't give away my rating stars to just any eatery with a "Good Eats" sign in the window! Especially when my grandparents owned a Mexican restaurant in downtown San Diego in my youth (and where I worked)!
The upshot here is that you will likely enjoy your "Mexican" meal here, just don't go in expecting more than you should expect eating Mexican food in NW Washington state.
Dammit!!! I forgot to try the guacamole! Next time, for sure!
This little family-run restaurant on the mail street of Fall City is a jewel. The food is good and consistent across the dozen+ times we've eaten there. As previously noted, the beer selection is good, the flavored margaritas are nice (my wife says), and the atmosphere is always pleasant. When we hosted an exchange student from Mexico (Chihuahua) he thought this was more authentic than the Ixtapacs further north in the valley, but after he found out his friends from school worked at the Carnation and Duvall Ixtapas he preferred to eat there.
