Don't even listen to the previous review. What does that even mean that the place is illegal and the margaritas are illiegal?  I'm still searching my brain for what the hell thats supposed to mean.  Is that a jab at illegal immigrants.  Maybe she's a mormom or another sect of alcohol-hating religulousness.  For one thing, they use cuervo gold in their margaritas, so if that's illegal, lock me the f@$k up!  Also, for the past 5 or some odd years el camino has been rated number one margarita in the city and probably surrounding area by the city paper.  so................that reviewers point is without a sound argument, thus making it crap.

not to review another brainless person's review but "serculate"???  "trat"??? obviously a moron with some serious anti-mexican sentiments had to bash a perfectly reputable business thats been in the area for a long long time.  This place is great for its food and margaritas, and no I'm not an employee.  If you can't handle your liquor, stick to the boons farm and late night taco bell runs sweetie.

El Camino is great for margaritas and that's about it.

They have the most disappointing Mexican food in town.  There are so many Mexican places in town and the food here does not stack up to any of them.  After multiple trips and several dishes I've yet to have something that wasn't bland.  Bland??!  Mexican food?  These don't go together.  Go here for a drink and eat somewhere else...

As for the margaritas being illegal or having poison... supposedly a couple of years ago they were busted for buying Everclear in Indiana and putting it in their margs.  I think they got a slap on the wrist and that was that or it wasn't true in the first place...

Obviously the guy who gave El Camino low marks does not know real Mexican food.  Maybe he just didn't know what to order.  At any event.  It is one of the best places in Toledo.  There are about 3 places in NW Ohio that are what I would consider real Mexican.  And this is one of them.  Being from Southern California and of Mexican decent, I say this is a great place to eat.

Hola, buenos noches mis amigos!  Me gusta El Camino Real, es muy bien! Es authentico, mmm sorry my espanol is a bit rusty....but I'm sure you're pickin' up what I'm layin' down!
My kiddo niece just turned 10 and her present from me was lunch and then some shopping for her gift.  Me, my gal, niece and nephew went here because this is her absolute favorite restaurant.  It happens to be one of my favorites for Mexican as well!
As many before have noted they have a neat mission style layout inside and out w/ a huge patio for warmer weather.
The staff is friendly and helpful and the menu is full with everyone's favorites and El Camino Real especialades!
This place gets packed pretty quick on the weekend. I bet it will be jam packed on Cinco de Mayo!
I have yet to see the mariachis, but would like to soon so I can learn to play some mariachi licks on my nylon string guitar!
Adios amigos!

Best Mexican food in town hands down. Any time my wife and I are itching to eat out El Camino Real is always at the top of the list. Their wait staff is prompt. Their food is quick (usually under 5 minutes). The food is great. They have a  mariachi band. They have an big outdoor patio. They have a downstairs cantina for drinking or waiting for a seat. If you get there on a busy night you may have to wait. Wait is usually no more than 30 minutes. If you love Margaritas get their pitchers.

They add cilantro to all of the guacamole, so unless you love cilantro, avoid the guac.
A fair amount of meat-free selections, a nice patio, a good veggie selection. I would eat here a lot more if I liked cilantro.

The food is great, the atmosphere's better, the service is mediocre. I give them some slack on the service because the place is always wall to wall people. Get the nachos with everything on them, you'll never regret it. There were rumors that the margaritas had poison in them, i suppose it could have been true, cuz 2 of them would put me out for the night, but MAN are they yummy.

IMO, El Camino Real is the best mexican restaurant in the city. It is extremely charming spot with its full on mariachi band and friendly waitstaff.   The people here are genuinely friendly, the food portions are large, and the margaritas tasty. The patio is always open and the place can get pretty packed with a long wait.  As for the food, I always order steak fajitas and as someone mentioned, the menu is extensive-there's just so much to try!

Great food, but be prepared to wait for it.  Once you are seated the service is friendly and fast.  The problem is they are so popular that you will wait over an hour on most nights, and sometimes 2 hours on weekends.

The food has good flavor and texture, not like the general drown it in sauce and cheese approach of most Toledo area Mexican restaurants.  The menu is extensive, so study it well before ordering.  Did I mention that the portions are huge!!!

It's hard for me to enjoy the variety of foods offered at this location because the first thing I ever ordered was the beef taquitos.  These little rolls are delicious and I haven't been able to order anything else whenever I walk in.  I don't need one order, I need 2.  But the quality of this restaurant cannot be denied, they regularly fill their own private lot, the Fifth Third Bank next door and a large portion of the adjacent parking mall.  They have entertainment, a bar in the basement and an overall high energy atmosphere.  When its warm, the outdoor patio is nice.

A fun place to go and drink on the patio but gets very full.  As far as the food I'm never really that happy.  Everything seems to come out and taste the same.  Kind of boring.  The other people I go with always seem to like it more than me.  So maybe it's just me.
