This classic example of useless pork projects brought on by a useless supervisor (thanks Ericka) started off just 'OK' and has reverted back to its neglected, trash-strewn, graffiti-laden, smelly self after only a couple years (and a few million of our hard-earned tax dollars).

For many generations, this part of the Rio Hondo River was a place where mostly Mexican families came to enjoy its cool water and spend a day, back when going all the way to the beach wasn't really an option.

Over the years the place lost its luster and went to shit and recently, this certain person got all nostalgic and shit and decided it would be a wonderful idea to pump in a gang of money to restore the area. I went here when they first finished the project a few years back...it was surprisingly nice. Clean restrooms, picnic areas, nice bike and hiking trails, fish swimming in the pools of water...real nice.

Thought we'd take the tot here today to see the fish and maybe let him run around a bit. Well, the place has gone to hell in a basket. Trails sucked, tables sucked, basically everything sucks. Lots of trash, weeds, graffiti, a few creeps lurking about...just bullshit that happens when no one cares. When we got back to the car, an LA county sheriff was cruising the lot...figures.

Oh yeah. BTW, the locals have another name for this place that goes way back...they call it Marrano Beach (translated 'Pig Beach')...big f**king surprise.
