5 reviews for EJ-588 Hair Studio
When you slip into EJ-588, just blocks off the idyllic town square of Sonoma, you'll likely forget you're just a block off the idyllic town square of Sonoma.
EJ's is modern, urban -- a time warp to a larger, more sophisticated city.
But that doesn't mean you have to be 19 with a nose piercing and an undying love of Sid Vicious to go here.
Soccer moms, hockey moms, and Joe Six Pack would all feel as welcome as their hip, college-aged children.
EJ's has a cadre of great stylists. I've gotten cuts from two of them -- Christopher and Hannah -- and both deserve high praise for not only giving a good cut, but a good cut that fit me, and with little guidance.
The prices are consistent with a high-quality salon, but nothing that will break the bank.
Some established stylists at EJ are booked well in advance, but I've had no trouble getting in on short notice.
More over, the folks here are just naturally nice.
So, go, cut, color, and relax.
Ej gets 5 stars for a simple fact, Lainey. Lainey used to work for a salon that was bicycle riding distance from my house in San Francisco, now she works at Ej-588 in Sonoma which is an hour and a half drive for me. That is how good she is, I drive through traffic and across 2 toll bridges to get to her.
Ej-588 is a cute little place 1 block off the main square with a tiny 3 car parking lot. Their space inside is everything you want from a salon including the flares of 90's art such as the giant ruby red lip sculpture/painting thing that hangs in the bathroom. Hey, did we come here to look at art or to get haircut? A haircut! So lets point out that they have a number of stylists, their products are top of the line, and the price is right.
All those things are great, but you have to have the right person cutting your hair at the end of the day. Guess what? Its Lainey. It is. She cuts all kinds of hair, is one of the nicest people I know, and everyone that gets their hair cut by her leaves the salon more than happy - and knowing they have made a new friend.
If you live in the area, go see Lainey at Ej-588 for the best haircut you will ever get! That goes for guys and gals. (gals? where are we? Omaha? sorry...I digress) If you don't live in the area, make a day of it and drive up there for a cut, walk the square, grab a bite, taste some wine, and drive back down. Trust me, its worth it.
Lisa at EJ is great. I'm sad I don't live in Sonoma anymore because her haircuts were always great. She cut layers piece by piece, never hack-y or choppy. And I always felt like a star when I left. Even though the changes were small from haircut to haircut, people would stop me on the street and admire my haircut. That's proof of a great cut.
Always easy to book an appointment, Lisa would work me in when I needed to see her. I miss living close by. But the haircuts might be worth the drive.
Went here after trying JAC and hating it. I've had two people do my hair. Top notch, very professional and cutting edge. save the trip to SF and come here!
I went to this salon for the first time today, for a wedding hairstyle run-through, and I was very impressed. I can't vouch for the haircuts, since I just got my hair styled, but the styling (by Frauka) was great, the space was clean, attractive, and modern, and everyone there was really friendly. Plus, they give you coffee and biscotti while you wait! If I lived closer, I'd definitely be going here regularly.
