breakfast is the most important meal of the day. thats why i love being awake early enough to have brunch. :) and i love it when i find brunch places that know how to make a proper breakfast!
what i ate:
- FREE swedish pancake: thin, tasty, the little scoop of jam was perfect. great way to start off the meal
- country fried steak: steak wasnt gargantuan, just the right size and perfectly crispy. the hashed browns were cripsy and fluffy and yummy. the eggs were scrambled and it was fine, but forgettable.
- biscuit & gravy: the biscuit was huge! the size of my face or something. not the best biscuit in the world, but its pretty good. the gravy was good. i love biscuits & gravy
- coffee: for a diner, surprisingly very good coffee
- pancakes: fluffy and good
pros:
- food! i can see why there was such a long wait to get a table at the joint. everything was delicious!
- pepper sauce: ive never used this sauce before, and it was delicious. salty, peppery, and garlicy
- price! it was cheap! brunch for 3, 2 coffees, 1 OJ and it came out to about $35 without tax/tip.
- service: they were SWAMPED the sunday i went, but my coffee mug was always topped off, our server was always attentive
- tip: if you dont want to wait for an hour for a table, try scoring a seat at the counter/bar! its first come first serve, so you just have to hover and swoop in when people leave!
cons:
- the wait. we came in sunday around 11:20 and the wait was about 40 mins for a table. eek!
would i come again? yes! -

Free Swedish Pancake while you wait - SOLD! Even more of a reason that I am sold, they are sooo good. This is a great brunch spot - granted i've only been once and for breakfast but my green chilie omlette was really fantastic! My omlette was honestly cooked to perfection. Eggs weren't the slightest bit overcooked!
Great little place. Cheap, quick, and satisfying -

So I have been here a few times and my daughter loves it for breakfast food. This particular visit we had a waitress that seemed to have an totally detached and uncaring attitude. She must have had something else on her mind because our desire to order and eat seemed like a distraction to her. I did ask the manager for a new waitress the they happily accommodated us.
While everyone in my party ordered breakfast (it was around 11am) I chose lunch fare. I mention this since if you get breakfast food you will get a free little cute yummy crepe. So there I sat watching everyone eat their little yummy crepe and I felt like the odd man out (note this was the last straw re the above mentioned waitress and when I asked to change). I get the policy but really you do want me to have a nice dining experience right???
Now as to the actual food... The crepe was yummy (I stole a bite). I ordered the tuna melt and while it was technically cooked the right way there was very little flavor. A pickle would also have been nice but whatever. The currly fries were exactly what Jack-N-Box has if your interested but the ranch was about average. I also tasted the pumpkin pancakes and was very not impressed. Cost $1 more and tasted like eh, a pancake with some odd flavor (note not a nice strong pumpkin taste). The sausage was average as well. -

This is an excellent place for breakfast. They have a deep menu and do all the standard breakfast items well. I especially liked their Belgian waffle.

I grew up coming here on Saturday mornings as a kid with my family. I got the swedish pancakes every time (in addition to the free swedish pancakes they give you). They're basically God's greatest gift to humanity so that's an automatic five stars.

I take brunch very seriously.
And I mean - VERY seriously.
Pros:
Flavored creamers - vanilla and hazelnut. YES
Enjoyable crepe
Cons:
Rude waitress - we asked the manager for a replacement, but then I think this led to issues because the new waitress never came back to help us after the initial serving, so we sat around forever :(
This also means my coffee never got refilled again. BOOOO
The pumpkin pancakes were not very good - they were more 'pumpkin spice' pancakes and had no pumpkin taste.
The wait itself wasn't bad, even though it was a fairly crowded Sunday morning. But between the mediocre food, poor service and EMPTY coffee mug, I can only give this place three stars. -
Review from Kay D.
Swedish pancakes. Oh yes. Granted, they use blackberry jam instead of lignonberry, but I suppose that's forgivable. Even if you don't order the Swedish pancakes, they bring you a mini one as a free appetizer to whet your whistle...and they still bring you one even if you do!
Guess what? I had the Swedish pancakes! Do you know what those are? DELICIOUS. They have many other breakfast things on their menu, but my eyes knew what my stomach wanted.
My husband had some sort of gigantic fantastical breakfast scrambler with bacon and avocado and whatnot. It was pretty great. I snagged some of his hashbrowns...yum!
This is a low key, casual diner-type place, serving up tasty and hearty breakfast...all for a great price! Indeed. -

Great little place. Cheap, quick, and satisfying.
Start with the worst part to end on a better note: the wait is a bit long and it's always packed, which seems to be a good thing, at least for them. There's minimal seating outside and you just stand inside. Outside the place, it doesn't have much curb appeal, but I suppose that's what makes it a great find or a "hole in the wall," mom and pop place - again, pretty positive. Coffee's pretty weak, but I like mine strong.
Best parts: reasonably priced and tasty breakfast food. I haven't tried the lunch food but according to other reviews it's worth it, too. My favorite dish is an egg white omelet with sides of wheat toast and hashbrowns. They have a little container of hot sauce on the table that went really well with it. I was surprised how quickly the food came because they were so packed. And of course everyone has mentioned the Swedish pancake appetizer, which will leave you craving more!
Definitely will go back. Craving a Spanish omelet right about now (which, to be honest, isn't a *Spanish* omelet in the true sense, at all, because real Spanish omelets aren't spicy, they're just potatoes/eggs made into a little cake-like wheel). -
Review from Daoud G.
Locally quite popular, great brunch / breakfast locale with good service.
FOOD: Swedish pancake is more like crepe roles, very tasty. Omelet are plentiful and a healthy variety exist, Denver is quite filling. The fruit cups are not too exciting, chunky pieces of blunt melon fill up the cup.
Tea cups are served in coffee mugs w/ cream.
ATMOSPHERE: bustling busy, great service and friendly atmosphere. If you don't make a reservation ahead of time then be prepared to wait 20-30 min during weekends.
LOGISTICS: car needed, ample parking.
CREATIVITY: positive energetic atmosphere. -

For a somewhat country style kitchen, and a local restaurant, I enjoy this place! Also gotta love the free crepe with the jam! Mmmm Mmmm!
4/5- Will Come back with an empty stomach and a craving for breakfast food! -

Having been here a couple times now, I would say the food is actually pretty good. My wife and I have never had something that we didn't like, and the free Swedish pancake is pretty slick.
The service is decently fast and the servers are nice.
The reason it only gets 3 stars is that coffee is $2.25 and does not include refills. If they're going to charge me that much for diner-quality coffee, it better come with something special, and by that I mean a happy ending. $2.25!? Really!?
We'll keep going back, but I'm sticking to water. -
Review from Zan O.
Great breakfast place. They only serve the breakfast crowd so they are only open to 2pm. They do have lunch sandwhichs too of course. Humnn they have breakfast specials if you can get up and get here before 9am.
Whats good about this place.
They give you a free swedish pancake with every order.
Their orange juice is freshly squeezed.
Their eggs taste like eggs not the kind out of a bottle or powder.
I tried their Chile Verde I think. Really Good. Oh and they will ask you if you want hash browns or O'brien's I think. Go for the Obrien's its like... um... its kinda hard to describe. chopped potatoes with onions. yeah thats good.
The Bad
Its very popular so there is a crowd. Especially on a Sunday. Wait the 20 minutes and its worth it. They move pretty quick.
The only other thing is things can cost around 10 bucks so it isn't the cheapest but it is good though. -

I got eggs this morning. Just eggs. to go. 2 orders of regular, and 2 orders of egg whites. They did not charge me more for the egg whites. This in itself is reason for 5 stars! Thank you for not charging me more for no reason!
They do charge more for egg beaters, alas, they are more expensive!
Thank you for helping me eat a healthy breakfast this morning:) -
Review from Jules S.
I really enjoy breakfast! And, I really enjoy steak & eggs for breakfast! So, why then does Eggs-N-Things not have steak on their menu?
I had to order Pork Chop & Eggs, which is fine because I love pork. Unfortunately, the pork chop I received was a bit dry and flavorless. Hence, Tabasco was needed!!!..."Here I come to save the day!"
The Swedish Pancakes though were awesome! And, for Eggs-N-Things to give a complimentary piece before the main entree arrives is a great promotional gimmick. They bought me as a regular customer with that gesture of generosity and because the Swedish Pancakes are the BOMB!!! -

I always get the swedish pancakes. They are so delicious and I get them every time I go there. I also get the hashbrowns almost every time I go there.

I enjoyed my breakfast, but the wait was pretty long. Still, it was a Sunday morning a little before 10, so that's pretty much to be expected.
First of all, you get a little blitz, which was ok except for the COLD blueberryish jelly on it. I wish I could have had it without.
I ordered a pretty basic continental breakfast, so I guess I can't quite comment on the quality of the food. I had cereal from a little box (quite literally impossible to mess up unless you give me sour milk), and English muffin, and fruit. Now that I think of it, I'm not even sure why I'm writing this review! Oh, because I LOVE BREAKFAST.
Overall, I'd definitely return. -

I ordered the eggs benedict, which was pretty good. It was not a show stopper, but the meal could have come out a little hotter than it actually did. The portion size was fairly generous, and the hash browns were good. I would rate it as 3 stars, but I added an extra star for the complimentary crepe that is given at the beginning of each meal! Wow! Now the crepe was AWESOME. A friend told me that you can order those as an actual meal, so that is something I will have to do in the future.
Our server was friendly and pretty quick with our order.s We had a large group, but she did a good job of managing the orders, as newcomers trickled in at different points in the meal.
I like breakfast places and this was a great breakfast meal (even though I went for lunch), so I will definitely keep Eggs-N-Things in mind when friends pass through T.O. on the weekends. -

Weekday morning....energetic but not packed ...friendly staff.
Had basic eggs and Bacon...hard to rate something so simple - either good or bad (good in this case)... but want to come back and try their pancakes and French toast....nice touch- while waiting a complimentary Swedish pancake to try...yummy .. -

Thousand Oaks, CA
What I like about this restaurant is it is so clean. They even wash the menus. The staff is friendly and helpful. The manager is on the floor, not intimidating employees but actually helping to run the place, every time I've been there. I've noticed this can make a difference in how well a restaurant is run. It is the only place I can get real crepes, not some Americanized idea of crepes, which is just a thinner pancake. The crepes are thin and best of all, NOT greasy! I would like them a little crispy on the edges, but that is a personal preference. The menu offers healthy, as well as traditional choices. The wait staff is friendly but efficient and many have worked there a long time and the place is Always very busy.

Thousand Oaks, CA
Coming from a gal who endured crowded city-living in order to live in the mecca of foodie-approved restaurants, This place screams - "you have arrived in suburbia." Along with the adjustment of trading the crowded streets for quiet tree-lined ones, I also have had to adjust my foodie expectations. So far, breakfast fare in Thousand Oaks seems to be pretty basic and simple.
Quaint, a little country diner-ish, Eggs-n-things is an adequate alternative to your breakfast chains. The menu has plenty of options. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet. The restaurant is surprisingly busy, while the food is about what you would expect. No delicate flavor combinations here, no meticulously selected product, not exactly prepared with culinary refinement - but filling and pretty satisfactory.
The omelet shell was fluffy enough, the portions large, and yes it had bacon and cheese. So, all in all, I would say things were "as described." Am I a raving fan? No, not quite. Would I eat there again? Hmm, I might prefer fixing my own omelet at homeListed in: Start Your Morning in Ventura…

This is one of the oldest Small chain restaurants around the area and this one is the best in the chain ( been in them all). This is primarily due to the Gen Manager who keeps a sharp eye on the operation.
Always great food and good service. A liitle more money that the competition but still good. -

mmmm there is not one thing here that is wrong to order... I HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast. The one in Ventura is good too, but I like this one way better. Creepes, biscuits, and chili verdi omelette with that pepper corn hot sauce are my top favorites!

Review from Kelly Z.
Most definitive breakfast place in Thousand Oaks and only notable one to boot! Its all stuff you could easily make at home but the atmosphere is cute and very small town cottage, southern feel. I love the little crepe like swedish pancake. I don't normally like berry jams, but for some reason, its great to me on this small appetizer. Love the omelets and potatoes O'brien. Big portions. If you opt for an egg dish, I would clear your schedule for the rest of the day or be prepared for an onset of heavy food coma.
Prices to me seem reasonable but towards the high side. Staff is great and tries to accomodate all requests. Be prepared to wait and have some time to kill as service isn't always fast and its normally always packed during prime time breakfast hours. -

Maybe the best things about Eggs is their consistency. The food is always good, the service is always fast and friendly, the prices are fair and it's almost impossible to visit without running into someone you know. Good community breakfast spot.

Thousand Oaks, CA
Completely overrated by the typical douchebag bros that hang out here on the weekends to recover from their "totally awesome party hang over"
Expect to see lots of tribal tattooed, Monster Energy drink advertising assholes to be here on a Saturday morning lined up outside excited for a very bland plate of Eggs Benedict.
People glorify this place because it isn't a Denny's or an iHop but the truth of the matter is it's very average across the board. -
Review from Kyle R.
Sherman Oaks, CA
Egg n things has been a family favorite since we moved to Thousand Oaks years ago. Everything is good. Menu is huge with a little something for everybody.
It has a local breakfast cafe feel. While it's not 'fine' dining it is exactly what you would want from a breakfast spot. Only advice is to go about 15 minutes earlier than you want to sit down on busy weekdays. Lots of work-folk and moms crowd the place in the morning.
Update: Saw a few complaints about service from others. My take... it's a busy place, don't expect the waitresses to ask how your parents are doing, but I've never had bad service. Also, expect a 10-15 minute wait. -

Thousand Oaks, CA
There's a wait, but for a reason. This is *the* must-go breakfast place for the area. The offerings are impressive, especially since there are so many specialty versions of standard items, some on a specials board. (I don't know how often it rotates.) This is sort of a large, old diner-like building with a ton of booths and a large counter, with a lot of hustle and bustle for serving all the people.
The service here is some of the best I've had anywhere in my life -- very quick, competent, and pleasant -- and the food is even better. I had the oat bran pancakes, and they tasted way too good to be oat bran pancakes. They were extremely soft and fluffy, delicately flavored, and enormous -- so get the short stack.Listed in: Best of Thousand Oaks

Absolutely the best breakfast place in the area. If it looks busy, don't worry. You won't have to wait long for a table and you'll be glad you stuck around.
I have never had any problems with the service or the food. Everything is always top notch. -

You always get the free Swedish pancake before your main dish, actually it's the mini crepe top with bit blackberry souse, yummy!
steak n' cheese omelettes- I love it, very tender, I saw there's few thin egg layers not just one layer with stuffed steak like other chain restaurant, that's why it's special to me.
I'll recommend you pick biscuit instead of toast, the biscuit with butter is superb and I tried it with jams also very tasty, it was baked nicely brown and crispy outside with soft inside hummmm love it love it. -

Thousand Oaks, CA
GET THE BISCUIT! That was my favorite part of the meal. I couldn't believe how good it was! It was soft on the inside with a nice outter crust. It was even better with some strawberry jam and my hot cup of earl grey.
I would have given this place 5 stars except for one thing: when we sat down, 3 people asked us within 2 minutes of each other whether or not someone has taken our drink order. It was completely ridiculous! Oh well. All in all, I liked both the eggs...and the things. -

Roaches!
My wife and I ate there a couple of times and it was so so. Not awesome but not bad. We went again a few months back and before we ordered a cockroach ran down my arm and jumped on the table. Freaked me out. When we spoke to the manager he just said, "Really? We just sprayed so they all should be dead.". Never never never again will I go in there and I caution anyone that does to take a good look around before ordering. -

This mom n pop breakfast joint gives a quaint alternative to the mega-chains in TO. Food is decent, nothing fancy. I have had only breakfast items here, I think it is a bit too pricey for the quality of the food.
I enjoy the Swedish pancakes very much. They offer one to everyone for free, its a very thin crepe-like pancake with blackberry jam and powered sugar. -

This is a nice local alternative to some of the chains -- not too bad. I ordered the Eggs 'N Things omelet with bacon, green chiles, and cheese, and it was pretty good. Not sure if I would necessarily order it again, though. I've also been to the location in Ojai, which I think I like a bit better.

Don't miss the Swedish pancake. It has a berry sauce that's wonderful. The portions are big, service is friendly and fast. Prices reasonable. I've only had breakfast here, but it's reliably good.
Warnings: Usually a long wait outside the door (very popular place!) and their homefries ( fried cubed potatoes with bell pepper) have been overcooked and tasteless lately. -

Another fine Eggs n Things experience. We've been eating here for decades and find it consistently good. The wait staff and table crews are always on the ball. I like the early bird omlette, potatoes extra crispy and the biscuit.

So, there was a 20 minute wait just to get seated, but once we were in, the service was quick and the food tasty. I couldn't believe the line outside--we're in Thousand Oaks for Christsake, not some trendy spot in LA. Let me tell you, the grub was well worth the wait.
I too am a big fan of the Swedish pancakes, which are served as a tease of an appetizer while you wait for the real meal. One of my friends had the florentine omelette, and the other had blueberry pancakes. Super yummy and inexpensive! I'm definitely coming back. -

this was my favorite place to go after church for breakfast when I was a little girl. When I was like 1-2 years old I would just eat my free sweedish pancake as my meal, then as I got older I would eat my sweesish pancake and my mom and dads. After a while I started to order my very own plate full of sweedish pancakes. mmm they are delish! So light and sometimes a little crispy on the edges with some yummy grape jelly and powdered sugar on top! We used to go so often when I was little that the red-headed owner (who always just sat down on a chair and never did too much more) said when I grew up he would give me a job there!
I've been back throughout the years and I always get an omlette and some fruit and every omelette always tastes super yummy and delish! The newish re-model opened the restaurant up a lot and it looks great now! All the waitress are very nice too, and some of them have been working there for 18ish years!
