I visited the park in June 2009 to search for a few geocaches. The park is pleasant and attractive and there were many boaters and others enjoying the sunshine.

This is an excellent gem of a park on Tampa Bay. I  know the park well because I spent two whole summers there as a lifeguard on the beach in between college sessions back in the day. There's 200 acres of mangrove swamp preserved as a wildlife sanctuary, so it's great for bird-watching. It's also great for kayaking, hiking, fishing, camping, picnics, swimming, etc. Peaceful waterfront Florida at it's best. I fondly remember  kayaking down one of the canals and seeing a loggerhead turtle's nest and watching crabs and other sea life.  You can even see the occasional manatee. Plus there was a lone pink flamingo making a home there, rumored to have escaped from a Miami zoo.
