Boy this place really need to get some renovations, those seats inside the theater seems to always people when they plunked down their donkey and lean back.
Overheard/Seen: watch a bad propaganda movie titled CJ7, towards the end a bunch of people showed up and sat (the regular movie buffets), two in particular sat behind us. One of them kept narrating of what's happening on the screen, SHUT UP! Even the other person kept saying "I know, I know." Then 5 minutes later the movie ended and one of them said "Oh that's all?" Yach idiot, either you are too early or too late.
I remember when this theater was the one everyone went to in Alhambra (before the one on Main opened) This place needs a face lift.
I still wonder why they still keep this one open, but I guess to compensate for the overflow at the other theater???
I went last night (7/3/08) to catch Wanted. The place was empty, I could literally run through all the seat aisles w/ hitting anyone, but then again, I like watching my movies in peace.
Nothing spoils a movie more than someone talking or texting on their phones, bratty kids kicking the back of your chair, or a buncha teenagers making obnoxious comments! (*Venting* one of my biggest pet peeves)
Good: if you don't like crowded theaters, plenty of parking.
Bad: restrooms are all the way in the front upstairs, theater seats automatically tilt back and don't look too clean, doesn't have a huge selection of movies.

Avoid if at all possible. I only end up here if the movie I want is playing nowhere else. It's run down with an old sound system and that humid, stale air you find in an abandoned mall. It's always a little too warm with an odor - not a bad stench but it just smells a little off. We got there early once and the workers were bailing water out of the emergency exit into a big trash can. That's reassuring. The bathrooms are upstairs (there are no theaters up there). They have a one person stall downstairs by the theaters but I didn't want to disturb the small family of flies that were occupying it. I gave it two stars instead of one, only because no one was talking during the movie, which made it salvagable. Still, the disinterested workers seal the deal - head elsewhere for your movies.
Pros: they show movies, free parking
Cons: humid, gross bathrooms, potential fire hazard

There was a bit confusion on the designated meetup spot before going inside the auditorium since the meetup point was next to the movie ticket kiosk which is where the doorman takes your ticket.
It was very easy to find this theatre since it's in the heart of downtown Alhambra. We saw a movie on a Hump Day (Wednesday) so there was plenty of parking available in the garage right next to the movie theatre. I didn't know the movie ticket kiosk was inside the theatre before meeting up with the group. The theatre has a security guard in the parking garage and a doorman that greets the movie goers and and directs everyone on where to locate the movie auditorium. There is also a mini-arcade right by the front door entrance. The movie theatre is clean. Our group didn't think the movie seats were as spacious as other movie theatres we've gone to. The theatre seats do recline.
I'd go back to this theatre in a heartbeat on a Hump Day. I'm also a member of the Regal Theatres Crown Club so I get points for my movie ticket purchases and concession food when I view a movie at Edwards Theatres.

I absolutely hate going here. The only times that I find myself here are when me or my fellow movie goers make the mistake of thinking that a film is showing at the Edwards a couple of blocks down at Garfield / Main when oops, it's really here at the Edwards on Atlantic / Main. We hesitantly drag ourselves here because hey, we're in Alhambra already and it would be a hassle to drive any further. (and waste gas? Are you kidding me?) The location of this place relative to the Garfield / Main Edwards is the only reason it deserves a star.
The layout of this place is beyond awkward. The main bathrooms are situated upstairs while the movie theaters are downstairs. How did the bathroom become the main attraction anyway enough to deserve its own floor and why is it so located inconveniently upstairs where I have to walk all the way to the front lobby to go up the damn stairs? At least there's bathrooms for the disabled downstairs and yes, my lazy ass who doesn't want to run upstairs to go empty out my bladder could've used that, but as far as I know and the last time I checked, I'm not disabled.
The seats are not comfy and the arm rests are fixed COCKBLOCKERS when it calls for the time to cuddle up with your date. I'd say never again to this place...but I find myself here somehow. I always do. I guess I just never learn. Stupid me. Stupid Edwards.

There's nothing palace-like about this theatre. A lot of the movie-going experience is about atmosphere, and this place doesn't have much of it. Attendance, even on weekends, is generally low and the theatres themselves are slightly run-down.
As mentioned in a previous review, the Renaissance is just a couple blocks away on Garfield & Main. Don't make the mistake of confusing the two. Renaissance = Good, Palace = Not So Good.
Both are Edwards theatres, so you'll never find the same movie playing at both locations. The Renaissance tends to show the mainstream/blockbuster movies while the Palace shows mostly art films, genre films and sometimes comedies.
The redeeming quality is that because attendance isn't that great, parking and crowding are not issues. If you're looking to watch a movie without hassle, this is a good place to do that.
The nice thing about this place is that it has its own l'il parking garage that have security gaurds monitoring every level. Its a smallish theater with no stadium seating. didnt' like the rows cuz the guy in front of me was pretty tall and made me sit pretty high to watch the movie. the speakers are a bit too loud becuase it seems to be compensating for the fact that it doens't really seem lik ethey ahve great surround sound systems? tha'ts just a stab in the dark, but that's my guess.
