A bit of history: both Edwardo's and Bacino's pizzerias are spin-offs from Giordano's. They are all very good pizzas but are different.
I have eaten at Printer's Row and also the Munster Indiana locations.
Edwardo's at 1212 N Dearborn is MY pizza delivery place! Whenever we go back home to Streeterville, we order two stuffed pizzas -- one to eat there and one to take back home to freeze in Galena for a later date. Edwardo's is famous for their stuffed spinach and mushroom pizza, which I like very much, but sausage, mushroom, green pepper and black olive is our usual order. Plus pesto. I also love the fresh basil salad.
I wish they would extend their chain to Northwestern Illinois/Dubuque area.
I love Edwardo's. In fact, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Edwardo's stuffed pizza is my all time favorite. Take THAT, Giordano's, Chicago's and Lou Malnatti!
Disclaimer: I grew up near this location, and have fond memories of family dinners where my dad and I would walk over and pickup 2 steaming pizzas and bring them home to everyone's excitement.
Stuffed pizza aside, their thin crust pizza is great too. I was hosting a backyard poker game last night, when we realized that two of us hadn't eaten anything all day.. at 7pm! (what? really?) He called up Edwardo's and had 2 large thin crust pizzas delivered so that we could continue playing cards while we waited. 40 mins later, we were devouring a pie with sausage, onions and green peppers, and another plain cheese. Our (very hungry) party of 5 killed both with no problems.
We didn't order it, but I HIGHLY recommend their spinach pizza (thin crust).
Do it!
I'm going to start some fights by saying this, but Edwardo's is the best place in Chicago to get stuffed pizza. (F Giordano's!) My favorite is the stuffed sausage....but add some spinach to that: ridiculous. If it weren't for the numerous calories, I would eat this pizza every day. (And I think I did back in high school -- at the Hyde Park location. Ahh...to have my high school metabolism again!)
If you're from out of town, PLEASE try Edwardo's pizza -- any location. Don't let people point you elsewhere. It's the tastiest, freshest stuffed pizza in the city. You will not be disappointed!
Great stuffed spinach pie! The crust was perfectly flaky.
All of my stars- yep, all two of 'em- go to the food. Edwardo's has delicious pizza and great meatballs and pasta. The lunch is an especially great value ($7.50 for pizza/sandwich/pasta, soup/salad/pasta salad and drink), but make sure you allow yourself at least an hour and a half or two hours for their- um- "Express Lunch."
I've frequented Edwardo's many times, hoping that the service will be better next time, EVERY TIME. Edwardo's, I have to say, your service ABSOLUTELY BLOWS. Yesterday was the last time I'll ever deal with your cold shoulder .
Maybe the service sucks because I go during the off-peak hours? Maybe the service sucks because I'm paying so little for the lunch special, and you have to overcompensate by ignoring me? Maybe it's because you just don't like me, Ed? I don't know. It's consistently terrible, and I've given you too many chances.
This will probably be the worst review I've ever left; I'm usually motivated by a good experience rather than a bad one. But we recently had the third in a series of increasingly lousy meals at Edwardo's, and even I was able to overcome my inherent laziness and post.
I should preface this by saying that with so many creative, unique places to eat in this nabe, I'm not sure why we ended up here. Convenience, mostly, and the ability to come in with a big group without reservations.
Unfortunately, those factors are immediately dwarfed by the execrable customer service and the perpetual overcharging. We had problems with the bill on our second visit and like fools (fools!) returned; shame on us and all that.
The complete lack of hospitality was what made an impression this time, however. According to their website and store sign, they open at 11 a.m. Sundays. We turned up at 11:40 a.m. and were told (by a head poked through the front door) that they were closed. When we inquired further we were pointed to a printed-out piece of paper taped to the side window, changing their Sunday opening from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Okay. I'm...not great with that, but okay. The kicker was that with twenty minutes left, and the servers setting out silverware, we weren't invited to wait in the lobby or - God forbid - at a table. Instead our party, including a woman who was 8+ months pregnant, stood outside. Eventually the "manager" (or ranking employee that day) let us know we could come in.
I won't even go into detail about the meal except that two orders of wings and a deep-dish pizza were supremely average. And then we got shafted on the bill. Again. The server claimed he had informed us of the "extra charges"; every single person at our table had tragically gone deaf during that precise moment. He attempted to discuss it with the manager, but that gentleman refused to come out from the kitchen. You know, like you do when confronted with a person who's civil and polite but presenting a minor conflict situation.
As a passionate food lover, I've often wondered what a five-star restaurant would really be like. My curiosity is now satisfied. My appetite, not so much.
We stayed at Hotel Indigo next door; our first trip to Chicago and we went to Edwardo's both nights. It was the only pizza we had in Chicago. The stuffed (we had pepperoni and sausage) was AMAZING. The sauce was really fresh tasting and light and the cheese was really good. The second night we had a thin crust half and half; on my half I had chicken and mushrooms. I wasn't so impressed with that one, it was pretty bland. So I would definitely go with the stuffed next time.
The service was really lacking. We were seated quickly both nights but after that it was SLOW. We sat waiting a long time for drink refills and I had to go in search of some cutlery. Not a problem if you have plenty of time, which we did, but if we were in more of a hurry I would've been pulling my hair out.
Yuk, tried 3 apps, two pastas and thin crust pizza. A predictable tasteless mucky mess. Pass.
You know, Edwardo's sometimes gets lost in the deep dish shuffle of Uno's, Due's, Giordano's, Gino's, Gino's East...(I know I've missed some, but this is exhausting me already).
The thing is that Edwardo's is actually pretty good. I don't want to start any fistfights, but I would even go as far as to say that it's better than Gino's East. It's subtle, but Edwardo's sauce is just a smidge tastier (no biggie). It definitely holds its own and it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with some of the pizza greats.
That said, something weird happened when I ordered. I ordered the special which included a pizza, some soda, and an order of pasta. When I went to pick it up, though, no pasta (like I needed more carbs, but whatever!). So I asked the lady about it and she said, "you can get it without the pasta."
"But I ordered the pasta...it comes with the special...it should be in there."
"But you can order it without it."
"But I didn't do that...just make it and put it in there!"
What kind of restaurant doesn't give you what you ordered and makes up some kind of excuse? Weird!
NOTE: For pick ups, don't arrive early! Wait the 35 minutes it takes them to bake your pizza.
I came just a few minutes early on Sunday to pick up my deep dish pizza, and discovered when I got home that it was watery and the crust was not finished cooking!
In addition, both times I've ordered pick up from here, they failed to slice the pizza...not a big deal, but kind of annoying.
What really peeved me was the fact that he took my pizza out before it was finished cooking just because I arrived a few minutes early....not cool

I am a pizza fan and am in absolute heaven in Chicago right now. At least every other week I make it a point to have the best food on earth.....pizza. I am a little afraid I am going to gain weight while I am here because this is the one food I just can't turn down.
My project team and I had this delivered one night when we were working late and it was so GOOD! The spinach stuffed pizza is amazing, it tastes like a vegetarian lasagna but with a crust! I would definitely go back but must wait until I try all the other pizza locations to discover my favorite but I am sure this will end up close to the top of the list.
This is not your ordinary pizza! Its a thin layer of pinenut rich pesto, about 6lbs of cheese, and a thin layer of tomato sauce on top. When I think of stuffed pizza I think of deep dish, but now I know I was so wrong to use those terms interchangably. Stuffed pizza is much less of a heavy, fall apart mess, and with more of the cheesy goodness.
The crust is butterym the cheese gooey, the pesto savory, and the tomato sauce tangy. A small slice is enough for a whole meal and an entire pie could last a week!
Warning...makes the frige smell like a garlicky wonderland!
Ordered a pizza and wings to be delivered. I thought the pizza was pretty good- however the crust is strange- in a good way. Very very grainy bottom of the pizza-- which I ate quite a bit of. The wings were solid, not great, not awful.
Came here on a Saturday night, probably 1.5 hours prior to closing time. Ok it's late, but it's not THAT late. We come in and the "host" looks at us and says "Can I help you?". Um...yes, 2 Big Mac meals please. IDIOT. If we were there to pick up an order, I think we would have had the sense to go straight to the counter ahead for a pick-up, no? Though this "host" was horrible, our actual server was pleasant and efficient. The food...I must say I'm not a huge deep dish fan, but I do enjoy the occasional spinach pie. The one we had here was pretty good--nice flakey, non-soggy crust, although the tomato sauce was ever so slightly on the tart side (I like mine sweeter). We also ordered some wings and while the flavor was good, the wings were tiny...boo.
All in all, would consider ordering from here again if desparate for pizza, but would never dine in again...
LOSING THE FAITH
My last meal at Edwardo's actually made me reconsider my love for deep dish. Not only did it take over 30 minutes to get my pizza, when it arrived it was just a greasy, cheesy mess. Their cheese is good, but that's about it. Just a giant glob of melted cheese punctuated with bits of sausage and pepperoni.
When I get deep dish I want to enjoy the meat, the cheese, the crust, and most importantly for me, the sauce. Edwardo's didn't execute on any of these elements for me and my plate was full of uneaten crust and extra cheese. I'm sticking with Art of Pizza.
I almost choked on a long string of this pizza when I was 8 or 9. So perhaps I just have found childhood memories but: I LOVE this pizza!!! The stuffed spinach pizza has always been my favorite. Cheesy delicious makes my heart beat fast.
Not really sure why everybody loves this location. The service is horrible and the two times I have been there flies have been buzzing around my table which were also sticky.
I don't recommend the Caesar salad or ordering garlic on your thin sliced pizza because it is way overwhelming.
I do recommend the wheat thin crust with mushrooms and spinach. I generally have a problem with the sauce that most places use but Edwardo's sauce is actually pretty good.
All natural Chicago style pizza you think would BLOW YOU AWAY! It didn't. I found the stuffed spinach pizza lacking flavor. Very band poor excuse for Chicago style pizza.
Sorry, Edwardo's. You just lost a star. I went there on a Sunday night and stood for at least five minutes waiting to be acknowledged. The guy behind the counter was intently focused on his phone call. The two servers seemed to sprint back and forth to the kitchen to avoid eye contact.
Once we were finally seated we ordered a medium stuffed pepperoni pizza. We got a medium stuffed SPINACH pizza. Understandable. "Pepperoni" and "spinach" sound so alike.
This pizza is great, but the service is laughably bad. Fawlty Towers bad. Get it to go and save yourself the hassle of dealing with these jokers.

My first introduction to Chicago pizza was Lou Malnatti's and for nearly five years of visits to the Windy City I did not think any true alternatives existed. Sure, I had heard about Due's, Uno's, and Giordano's but I had no reason to stray fron Lou's. That is until I tasted the sweet nectar of Edwardo's wheat crust stuffed pizza.
Currently, Edwardo's is by far my favorite pie in Chicago and I always order it with the wheat crust. The crust has a slightly nutty taste and grainy feel to it and it merges beautifully with the cheese and tomato sauce. If you like to fold your pizza like I do occasionally, the wheat crust is a clear cut choice as it holds up to the weight of the fillings well. So far, my favorite style has been the stuffed, with sausage, onion, and pepper. The sausage is pounded flat and is not too thick - the vegetables fresh and tender. I also usually order it with extra tomato sauce as the pie is a little light on it for my taste.
I have also had the thin crust pizza and I was not crazy about it - perhaps because it paled in comparison to the stuffed style. I had chicken and pesto on it and it just seemed off. I would not order that again.
A few other notes: The garlic bread is just not worth it - pick up a frozen loaf in Dominick's and you will better off. Also, the restaurant itself is really small and has a bizarro feel to it since the pickup window is kind of right there and it seems like there are lots of random people just walking around like the Star Wars Canteen. I will continue to order delivery.
Tough to give an overall grade. But I'll give it four stars in light of the above deficiencies, since the stuffed pizza with the wheat crust is so impressive.
I really enjoy dining in at this unpretentious little spot. The first time I ate here, back in early October, I pulled a major Kristin dining no-no; my boyfriend and I sat on the same side of the booth! The horror! In our defense, there was one tiny TV in the corner behind my head and the Yankees were losing. Who wants to miss that?
Now for the pizza - VERY, VERY, delicious. And wheat crust to boot! I usually go thin crust but I heard this deep dish is a must (plus now that I think about it, it was like two days before the marathon so I wanted to shovel in as much food as possible for "extra fuel"). You can't go wrong with the ronis! I also had salad to make myself feel better. Pretty standard but the Italian dressing was excellent (not too oily!).
I noticed a lot of people came in and out for takeout. May I suggest dining in? It's not ideal for sports-watching, but it's a cozy little place with just the right amount of character.
Good Pizza
Good Prices
The pizza from here has always been great, but we were 2 of four people in the restaurant for our first hour, and only saw are waitress twice. She ignored our lack of drinks, avoided us at all costs, and was completely unpleasant. Granted, a lot of people came halfway through our meal, but we noticed she completley ignored them as well. She took our pizza from us without asking if we were finished eating, packed it up without saying a word and threw our check on the table. Then when we were ready to pay, she passed us up several times until finally she came back and pretended to be friendly for two seconds, wish i could say that made up for everything, but sorry.. it didn't.
Get take out.. trust me.
This is a really solid pizza place. The people at this location are nice and they work pretty fast. I don't like to wait for pizza delivery that is pretty easy to get to, so when we order, we usually pick it up.
The pizza is always ready when they say that it will be and I've never had to wait for it. One suggestion I have is to look for coupons. There are a ton of sites where you can find a $50 gift card or certificate for $25 (like the Espn radio station site) or on http://restuarants.com . It's worth it.
Yummy. After an extremely hungover day (um, yeah, this cali girl should not be allowed to drink at bars until 4am) leading to a night in on my last visit to Chicago, my friend and I decided to order in. And as I had never had *quality* Chicago pizza (see: Giordano's review), I insisted we order pizza. And some fries for my friend, who was rolling out of bed only to pray to the porcelain god all evening. (There's nothing like potatoes and salt to ease drinking-related pains.)
I went on the advice of other yelpers and ordered the stuffed spinach pizza. Soooo good. Fresh spinach, stringy mozzarella, spicy sauce, and flaky crust. I hate to say it though: I think my previous exposure to bay area "Chicago style" pizza might have molded my tastes in another direction. I prefer the crunchy/chewy cornmeal crust of Little Star in SF, to the flour-based variety used here. But then I LOVE anything corn based, so I'm biased. And LS sauce is tangier, which I also like.
Our first pizza-pie experience. The spinach pie is the house specialty, and we found was nice with some ground beef added. It takes a while to arrive, but when you see it you'll understand, as it must take an age to cook.
We dined in and the staff were particularly friendly, making it a most enjoyable experience
I had the worst experience here. I heard so many good things about this Pizza place I think my expectations ruined it. Well even if I didn't have such high expectations, the pizza was disgusting. It was so greesy I had a stomach ache after eating a few small slices. The cheese wouldn't even stay on the pizza, it just slipped right off. There was no flavor and I had to add salt just to taste it. I regret even bring home leftovers I was attempted to leave it on the side of the street. We ordered a salad which looked like it came out of the ready made bags from the grocery store. The bruschetta was old bread with oily pesto and a few chunks of tomatoes with a whole lot of cheese melted on top.
The waitress didn't even care to serve us. She came to take the order and then to give us our food after waiting so long. We didn't couldn't get service. We also wanted refills and had to wait til she brought out the pizza to get her to come over. Then when we wanted to pack up our food to go and she didn't even come to our table; we had to call her over. At the end she was sitting down to have dinner while she had customers! I am not sure what it was but I doubt i will ever go there again. I am in a dilemma because i still have $30 worth of gift certificates to go there.
Free food at work is always good!
Edwardo's sent us a nice selection of pizzas to sample (spinach stuffed, BBQ chicken, green pepper and onion), as well as some salad.
I wasn't terribly impressed with the thin-crust pizzas; the crust was a bit dry, and I've had better BBQ chicken pizza before. To their credit, though, the blend of cheeses was nice. The stuffed spinach, on the other hand, was really great. The cheese was perfect, the spinach was blended in just right, and the crust was very tasty and not too greasy.
Salad is salad, but I enjoyed some of the fresh herbs sprinkled on top. That added a nice little kick that I wasn't really expecting.
I'd go elsewhere for thin-crust, but Edwardo's is on par with Giordano's for stuffed pizzas and probably beats them for spinach stuffed.
I love the stuffed spinach pizza. Edwardo's has the BEST STUFFED PIZZA! I've never had it better anywhere else.
The service is quick and really friendly. I like eating here and come here occasionally when I'm in the area.
I don't order pizza very often, but when I do, it's usually from Edwardo's. They have a pretty good Hawaiian thin crust pizza with a sweet and sour sauce instead of a regular pizza sauce, which I really like. I also recently had a friend recommend the stuffed spinach pizza, which I'm looking forward to trying. I would suggest getting it delivered or carrying it out, just because it's not much of a dining-in experience, but the pizza is good nonetheless.
One of my top 2 or 3 favorite stuffed / deep dishes in Chicago. Though I will say I think people sometimes either love it or hate it, though... The ingredients they use are all very fresh. The sauce is a very fresh tomato type sauce.
I don't like cornmealy crusts, and Edwardo's is more of a butter crust. Which is probably why I really like it. I've ordered it numerous times and love it.
If you get the Entertainment Book there's always a few $6 off coupons in there.
I randomly picked this place out of a delivery magazine in my hotel. We ordered the edwardos special thin crust, tuscan calzone, antipasto and pasta salad.
Thin Crust pizza - pretty tasty
Calzone - Fresh ingredients and well made
Antipasto Salad - Fresh and good
Pasta Salad - addictive
I can't compare it to any other place because I am no expert on Chicago pizza, but coming from a place where thin crust pizza has become a high fare food... I was pleasantly surprised.
Normally I go with Malnati's, and have done so for a long time. The other night, as I was going up in the elevator, an Edwardos delivery guy was making a delivery elsewhere in my building, and being hungry as I was, got the inspiration necessary and decided to order an Edwardo's pie. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and immediately realized that this pie can hold its own when compared with the cream of the crop (for me, Malnatis.) while I still will order from my favorite Lous often, I would not hesitate in ordering another pie from Edwardos. The cheese was real good, there wasnt too much sauce, which I like, and the sauce tasted good and natural. The crust was buttery and tasty as well.
The service was very friendly and efficient, and the food was very tasty.
My wife and I had a medium Hawiian thin crust to share. The size was perfect for the two of us (although she did not eat enough causing me, naturally, to eat more than my share :) ).
The pizza was about $12 to share, so very reasonable.
If you'd like to pay 11 dollars for Chef Boyardee's ravioli thrown on a plate and served to you with an iceberg salad, go here. Otherwise, stay away.
I fell victim as it was next to the Hotel Indigo where I was staying, but I know better next time.
I stopped by here on Saturday afternoon, and it was really quiet. My friend and I were the only ones dining in there, so of course we were seated immediately. Our server was really friendly, but since we were the only ones there he wasn't very attentive. We ordered a small Edwardos special stuffed pizza and it was delicous- just the way I remember it when I was in elementry school! I think it's a great spot for stuffed pizza, but not the best pizza, but it's decent in my opinon
I had this recently again when I was babysitting, only they ordered the thin crust. Still really good. Thought I'd add that little update. Delivery was fast, driver was nice, food was hot.

Edwardo's has decent pizza, but it's shooting itself in the foot by its weak staff and lack of customer service. This location and staff isn't interested in putting forth effort in maintaining long term and loyal Gold Coast, Old Town, or Lincoln Park customers. Or any customers?! The empoyees and manager don't try to run an efficient, quality business during these recessionary times. There are plenty of other restaurants and fast food places in the neighborhood that offer customer service and put forth effort to keep regular patrons. I could give you so many examples of their list of offenses from poor service; food quality; lost carry out orders; botched deliveries; or orders for small 2 topping pizzas that typically take 20 minutes ends up taking over 1 hour+ when it's not busy. The manager *could* just roll up his/her sleeves and assist the cook in getting that order done in 20 minutes like it was promised instead of the 1 hour or longer, but I'm guessing they don't give a sh*t. There's NEVER an apology, never a discount or coupon offered when they've made a mistake. So me, my family and friends, will no longer spend any money at Edwardo's. That's really ashame because I come from a family that loves Chicago pizza from Gino's East to Lou Malnati's.
Haven't been here, just ordered delivery.
Really, really great pizza. Got the caesar salad as well (it's green, and therefore healthy) and that was good, too.
Second favorite pizza behind Art of Pizza.
Best Pizza in Chicago. If you can go during lunch do yourself and your fat cells a favor and get the special. A personal pizza, salad and drink for 6 bucks! Great deal! Gold coast is my hood and I live by this place when I look for pizza in Chicago.
