I went here for lunch one time and I wasn't very impressed with this place.
The service is only ok. The server wasn't very nice and attentive to my request. He seemed very annoyed with whatever I wanted to ordered. So I didn't think it was good. Maybe he had a bad day or something.
The food was only average. I called their spicy tuna because it's always been my favorite but I was let down. The fish gave you the nasty after taste. So much that I couldn't finish the roll even though I wanted to. But their hamachi was pretty good.
Their soup was fine. But they charged too much for a small bowl of soup.
I rarely find any sushi place that requires you to pay for hot tea. This one... I think the price was pretty high for a cup of hot tea but luckily you get free refill so I try to take advantage of that as much as possible.
The place was clean and gave an very nice view of the harbor. It's a little bit Americanized but the decoration is very nice. There was a sushi bar that you can sit there.
Overall, it was only average but way way overprice for the food quality. I guess you pay for the location.

Located in the center of Harborplace, I'll admit that I didn't expect much out of this restaurant the first time that I ate there. It was after a Maryland Football loss and my Dad, my boyfriend, and I decided to walk down there to grab a bite. After narrowing it down and overlooking the Five Guys across the way, we made our choice.
The inside of the restaurant is a bit complimentary. The walls and decorations are those of a more traditional Japanese restaurant. The napkins and presentation, though simple, were nice. The ambiance however is a broken by several TVs showing everything from CNN to ESPN and the radio repeats 80's and 90's music at a low volume.
The food isn't bad, and though I tend to order similar things each time I go, they do have a relatively large menu to choose from. That night I started with a Miso soup, green tea, and side salad. For dinner, I had a shrimp tempura roll, a salmon and avocado roll, and a salmon and cream cheese roll. They were all fresh, delicious, and moderately priced.
The service is typically pretty good. I have only felt ignored during one visit there, though in their defense it was a very busy Saturday night. The view over the water is always nice and it's a great place to go with any size crowd.
If you're at the Harborplace and living the tourist life (or just entertaining some of your tourist friends) - I highly recommend it!

This is a fantastic little place with great location (between the National Aquarium and Camden Yards and across from a really nice urban mall). It's 10 yards from the water, has nice outdoor (2nd floor patio) seating. My fiance and I go here when we have time for a nice lunch together.
They have lunch specials between 1-3pm that give you a very nice selection for maybe $30 for 2 people in a nice lunch. The service is good, and their location is probably the best of any inner harbor restaurant.
A good treat is the fried ice cream--I never eat fried food or ice cream but they make it in a special japanese way and they top it off with a sauce I can't describe. It's a better dessert than I've had anywhere in Baltimore and that includes the high-end Italian places like Della Notte, etc.

The only time it is worth going there is during happy hour. Service is good, but food is ok, prices bad and music (greatest hits of the 70's , 80's and 90's) even worse. Dragon roll is best. Hostess is usually super bitchy. Beware!

Fit the bill for what we needed. We wanted take out to bring back to our room at the Renaissance, which is connected to the mall and restaurants on the Inner Harbor.
The fish was fresh and clean. Veggies were crisp. Soup was hot. Most importantly, the order was correct.
We were in town for a convention and ate here 3 times. We were pleased with the service, the atmosphere was good enough for being in a huge mall like structure, and they had a ton of items for vegetarians. My husband's beef teriyaki was fatter than we normally get here in chicago, but all else was good and they serve Ramune which is always a plus when traveling with a 6 year old.
It could be real easy to hate this place. It's located in the tourist wasteland of Harborplace (right across from 5 guys!), the modern, colored overhead lights clash with the traditional faux-paper screen walls, there's t.v.'s hanging from the ceiling, and for some reason they decide to pump 80's hits over the speakers.
But I didn't hate this place, really. It's located on the second floor with a great view of the harbor. The service was exceptional - our waitress was spot on with taking orders, refilling tea, clearing plates, and even bringing out hot towels at the beginning and end of dinner.
The food itself was good. Started off with the Edo Salad which offered some small pieces of fried chicken if I recall, and some crunchy things, all over some lettuce with a sweet sauce. Um, that was a horrible description, but trust me the salad was good.
Sushi came out in a simple display of a large white plate with a smaller rock-looking plate on top. Efficient and not overstated. If you want non-efficient and opulent, then bring 10 of your closest friends and order a "boat" of sushi. The table next to ours was a large group and the waitress brought their sushi out on some three foot long Junk. Is that the correct terminology? Maybe not since Junks are Chinese, but I digress.
The sushi was tasty - very cool and fresh. We only got regular types of rolls and they were decently priced. The specialty rolls looked pretty expensive.
All and all, decent sushi with a nice view and great service. That's reason enough for me to head back.

While in Baltimore I decided to be a complete tourist. Me and my friend checked out the aquarium and rainforest, went to the gallery mall, did some local thrifting, and ended the day at this semi-cheesy sushi joint. I don't know why it felt so cheesy...maybe it was that it was in a mini-mall complex right next to cheesecake factory or maybe it was the waterfront setting combined with the dimly lit candles...it all just seemed a bit too perfect. I felt like they should have been playing Boyz II Men. ANYWAY, we split 3 of their special rolls which took us about 30 minutes to decide since the menu was literally 8 pages w/ color photographs. I recommend the "black dragon" it is probably the least healthy roll (it is fried and def contains creme cheese and like 3 sauces) but believe me it is sooo worth it.
Our waiter was weird. He wasen't asian but acted like he couldn't speak any English.
After we were done we went to the cheesecake factory...Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake....OMG.

Eh.., I thought Baltimore being on the shore it should've had more sushi place. But the dude that we met at one bar said, "I've tried soot-shee once, and never again!"
Guess Baltimore is not a sushi city.
This one is not bad though. The fish doesn't taste fresh, but selection is great!
Location, Location, Location---this is the ultimate in sushi eating on the water. It is beautiful and you will most def want to sit ouside on their terrace overlooking the inner harbor. The sushi is quality, but a bit pricey and the atmosphere is great and trendy. I had a great date here last summer...so romantic. The rolls were soo good and the sake bombs...made everything seem ten times better. Alcohol will do that sort of thing, but honestly if your in the inner harbor...have a early dinner right before sunset on the terrace and enjoy your company and the atmosphere. Its heaven.
Great location - on the waterside of Inner Harbor. Seating available on balcony with a view of the pier and acts goign on below.
They're pricey, but have great selection of food and drinks. They've got your sushi, teriyaki, tempura, udon, soba, grilled items, and yakitori! Pretty cool in my opinion.
Normally, when i go to a Japanese restaurant, I"ll order myself a nice cup of green tea - but at $4.50 I decided I didn't want it THAT much. THey also carry Ramune drinks for $3.95 - which is way over priced in my opinion.
Had to order the Age Tofu - definitely not the best I've ever had but still ok. Dont' know if I'd order it again. Edamame was standard - not the freshest ones I've ever had (or they cooked it too long) and they don't even use sea salt! Definitely woudlnt' order it again, even though I ate it all anyways.
Nigiri, Sashimi, and Maki were on the high end of being normally priced, but their specialty rolls were quite expensive for what they were. Tried the volcano roll and it was really quite delicious - especially the spicy mayo sauce! MMmmMmmm... I'm a sucker for that stuff.
For my entree, I opted for the Ten-Zaru Soba ($15.95). Cold buckwheat noodles with seaweed served with special dipping sauce. Also came with a side of tempura veggies and shrimp. The tempura was pretty yummy, although I was sad that I didn't get a tempura'd sweet potato. The noodles were actually really good - as long as you can master picking up the slippery things, dipping them in the sauce and putting them in your mouth without splish splashing all over the place w/ chopsticks. My advice on this dish - dont' wear white or dont' use chopsticks.
My sister got the bento box special for $10.95 - definitely got a great deal. She got a great variety of items w/ the box and it was super filling. Have to say, wasn't a huge fan of the chicken teriyaki.
Ginger salad was good, but very different from anything I"ve had before. Had a slightly... fruity taste to it? Not exactly the word I'm looking for, but dont' know how else to describe it.
In any case, they had good stuff and we were too full to try dessert. Even had some leftovers to take home. Would go back when my pocket book isn't so constrained.
