When I moved to SF, I switched my optometrist.  I would have continued going to my old optometrist in the East Bay, but my sister said that Dr. Lee was great and that I'd like her.

She was really nice-- asked about what kind of work I do and how I used my eyes (I was never asked how I use my eyes before).  She was comprehensive, thorough, and even found that my prescription was too strong and could be made weaker.

The actual office building isn't really an office building-- it's right in a commercial area, and it has a storefront with tons of frames for sale.

It's a pretty inviting place, and everyone there was really helpful.  if you're weary of doctor's offices of any sorts, you'll like this place.

Having had some maj a-holes as doctors in the past, I came to think of them as all business, and if they were brusque, jerks, then they had to be good. For real, B, my old eye doctor was just mean. Mean and weird looking.

Dr. Edna totally throws my theory off. She's so sweet and lovely that I want to ask her constantly to be my cool auntie. But I will settle for her telling me I have astigmatism.

I have been to both of the Drs. Lee, and they are both fantastic. They always take the time to listen to stories and concerns, and thoroughly explain everything. I felt so comfortable with them that I admitted something I am ashamed of and never told another eye doctor.

When I was 8, I thought it would be cool to have glasses. So I lied on my eye exam to make my vision seem worse. It wasn't as cool as I thought, and I had headaches a lot because my mother made me wear those damn glasses.

Luckily, Dr. Edna said that this probably had little to do with my current embarassingly horrible vision.

Dr. Edna Lee is the absolute best. I've been getting my eye checkups with her for over 10 years. She has a great memory and is wonderful at small talk, remembering to ask about things you may have told her a year ago!

I can't imagine a more thoughful and professional optometry doctor on the planet.

And the eyewear at Invision Optometry is great. I've bought many pairs of glasses there over the years and am always happy with my purchase and experience.

Dr. Lee was very professional when I went to see her for my new contact lenses. Her facilities were nice, and I felt like she paid proper attention to the health of my eyes. She ran all the standard tests, plus ran this badass eyeball scanning machine that did a map of my peepers so she could see the exact shape of the cornea. It was sweet. Anyway, I got my contacts from their store, but didn't look at any frames, and didn't get any pressure to, either. I like that. Altogether, I have to say I was pretty happy with the experience.

Update: Three years later and I am so very pleased that Dr. Lee is my eye doctor. She is always so happy to answer questions and takes the time to figure out what the best situation for you, the patient, is. I never want to see another eye doctor again!

"I have been a client and patient of Invision Optometry for almost ten years now. The Doctors Lee (husband and wife team) are both fantastic. They are very thorough in their exam, and also make you comfortable. The staff is friendly and can always help you find a good fit. The shop stocks a great selection of frames from edgy/but still OK for a banker to way-out-there pop star! Pricey, but a great way to cash out the remaining balance on your health care reimbursement account. Come for the selection, but stay for the excellent medical care."

I had a slight eye discomfort and was scouting around on a Sat morning for an optometrist so I turned to Yelp and Dr Edna Lee's name came up! Moreover, she was available on Sat!! She was thorough (took a long time) with her exam. First diagnosis, she had advised me to use cold compress but I mentioned that the pain was still a stinging and irritating pain and then she gave a 360 degree change of advice and that I should use a hot compress instead. (???) Bizarre...I was hesitant but I guess I'll take her word for it. Will see how the eye recovers over the next few days....well, she had good reviews and she was available on a Sat!

I found the PERFECT sunglasses here more than two years ago -- it's hard for me to find glasses that look good on my big head.  I should handle them with kid gloves, but I don't... So the little rubber nosepads get torn off by my less-than-gentle treatment at least 2-3 times a year. Everytime this happens, I take them back to the store, they put new pads on and clean my glasses so they are perfect once again... No charge, and always friendly.   I'm feeling a bit guilty, and I may need to get a second pair of perfect sunglasses soon!

Dr. Lee is nice and very thorough.  Had me come back for a follow up to make sure that my lenses worked ok.  The staff was also very helpful and nice when I needed help picking out a new pair of glasses.  There definitely was not pressure for me to buy glasses from them.
