A long time ago I was married and Edible Love Chocolates MADE our wedding! We wanted to do something different at our wedding than a traditional wedding cake. Lucky for us, we met Philippe of Edible Love Chocolates and set up a consultation with him to find out what our other options were.

Not only was our meeting with him perhaps the least stressful and most relaxed meeting we had with all of our vendors, we were amazed at what he could offer! Philippe has the gift of including you in the process and dreaming up something awesome! He designed a dessert buffet and made heart shaped chocolate hazelnut caramel pies and cheese cakes, as well as four different types of "His and Her's Truffles".

Not only did he make the most incredibly rich, creamy and downright decadent dessert that we had ever tasted, his presentation was PHENOMINAL due to his background in designing spaces for events. Our guests went WILD, and our desert buffet is still the talk of our friends, even though we are divorced!

Philippe has outstanding listening skills, creates a wonderful environment to do business, and  makes it so fun to be included in the process of imagining what is possible. His ability to articulate one's vision AND make it better than you could have imagined was such a huge blessing for us. We were so thankful to have him on our team and have such great service and beautiful organic treats for our friends and family; truly awesome!!!

I am so glad I used to live in the Bay Area, because the Bay Area is truly gifted with so many wonderful chocolatiers. This place is no exception.

These chocolates are melt-in-your-mouth-not-on-your-fingers (unlike some other *ahem* chocolate who toot this phrase) delicious and if this taste is not considered chocolate heaven, I don't know what is.

The chocolate is RICH, but not TOO RICH and packs in that good feeling only chocolate can deliver and it just seems to last and last and last... I can only describe this taste as mouth having gone to heaven.

You absolutely must try. When you try, you'll know what I mean. I know you hear this all the time, but really-- I recommend that you do.

This choco-purist has found her match and her keeper. I'll be back. Then back for some more.

Philippe is a dear, and his chocolates are heaven on earth.  AND, he generously donates a box or three every single year to my daughter's school fundraiser as a silent auction item - they are always very popular!

I love the fact that not only are Edible Love chocolates utterly delicious, but made with organic and fair trade ingredients, so you can *feel* good about eating something that *tastes* so good.

Philippe is not not just a contribution to the taste buds of chocolate lovers, he's a contribution to the community.

Does it get better than that?  I didn't think so!

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to sample a couple truffles from Edible Love at the Yelp Elite Preview of the upcoming Fire Arts Festival last night.

I should start by saying that wifey and I have been making homemade truffles for about 5 years now. We think we're pretty hot stuff, but Phillipe clearly knows something we don't.

The shell is exactly the right thickness of bittersweet bliss, and the center, oh the center. So creamy and smooth it dissolves on your tongue, leaving you wanting just one more bite.

Thank you so much for sharing your passion with us. I can't wait to try more flavors!

Overheard at an event where Edible Love Chocolates was vending: "The Dark Chocolate with Raspberry filling is so good you'll give up sex!"

After that statement, which flavor did I try first? The chocolate with raspberry is truly decadent and delicious. I also purchased the chocolate rose filling, which was really good too.

The only problem with these chocolates, is that when they are all gone, you just want more!

In German, there is a saying: "Don't carry owls to Athens," where the owl symbolizes wisdom and the pursuit of academics, and Athens in the olden days was the center of just that.

So when you carry chocolates from the New World to the Old World, that must indeed mean that the Old World has not yet seen such delicacies.

That is exactly what I did, to rave reviews.

It was the SF Chocolate Salon 2010.  And in the sea of rather inornate tables and booths lay among them a curtain-laden tent full of (literally) colorful characters boxing chocolates, passing out samples and talking to eager chocoholics like myself wanting to get a taste of every beautiful sample of truffle they offered. I bought two truffles to savor for later, complete with the memory of a very kind, patient and generously accommodating gentleman working behind the booth.

    Fast-forward to tonight.

Oh god. If there's ever a last meal for me it's a plate full of Edible Love's dark chocolate raspberry ganache truffles that had some kind of whimsical name. One bite of this heaven-sent truffle made me ooo and ahh so much that I had to jump up out of bed (don't ask why I'm eating truffles in bed...) and Yelp about it pronto.  There was a soft crunch from the chocolate shell, and then the oozing of the ganache that was perfectly flavored with raspberry sweetness.  Texture, taste and chocolate-fruit decadence to this extent cannot be kept a secret for long. And if you haven't had the pleasure of interacting with this renaissance-inspired, velvety establishment, do so ASAP.

If love is their secret ingredient, then it's definitely the high quality stuff of romantic fairy-tales.

As a serial chocoholic, I've been making myriads of chocolate dainties for over 15 years, and savoring these sinfully sweet creations for over a year. Most impressed with their pure & simple mastery of the craft ...now I'm absolutely hooked!
Every incident is an adventure with new combinations. *Nothing* quite touches Edible Love in quality & variety... super subtly rich marvelously textured tidbits o' delicious decadence, how I adore your harmonic symphony o' delectable delights, one sublime whiff of anticipated syncopation followed with a fabulous hit of culinary perfection... not to mention the buzz following such ingestion!

Now, am I really supposed to save some for the loves of mi life???

3.5 stars but since it was at the Yelp Fire Arts Festival and free (in this economy no less), let's round up.

Philippe is quirky ... but aren't all brilliant people? I guess he didn't bring enough to give away so him asking me to share a piece of chocolate with as many people as I could was odd ... fellow yelpers, you're all great and all ... but I'm not one to share saliva with strangers ... at least not sober.  All things considered though, each piece of chocolate is probably a labor of love and I shouldn't expect mass production quantities for artisan chocolate.

I tried the rose and my friend tried the marzipan.  The chocolates were pretty big and very rich.  Both were tasty, but I liked the marzipan more.  Having checked out his website, I'm intrigued by the classes he teaches ... might be something I'll plan for the girls ...

Wow, these chocolates are SUPER rich and totally decadent.  My favorite flavors were the rose water and (I was surprised) the maple syrup.  Generally I'm not a fan of maple, but the sweetness perfectly counterbalanced the dark chocolate and made for a SUPERBLY tasty chocolate!

For the uninitiated, this isn't a store that you just drive down and go inside.  The address is Phillipe's HOUSE (I found out the hard way when he was on vacation, oops.)  You have to order your chocolates online, and then go pick them up!

The chocolate truffles from Edible Love Chocolates taste amazing, and come in truly inspired flavors, as everyone keeps raving about, but my favorite aspect is that I know I'm eating a treat made from organic and fair trade ingredients.

I have been enjoying Philippe's edible Love Chocolates for about 6 years now. They are so wonderful. His creations are gourmet and are suitable for those with a refined taste for fine sweets. The perfect amount of sweeteness (not too much) and he uses both exotic and traditional ingredients: Even a delicate touch of absinthe flavors some of his chocolate truffles. Surprise!

For those who appreciate good looks, Philippe and his chocolates have that too. The smart, attractive and thoughtful (environmentally friendly) packaging and/or presentation are an added bonus.

On several Occasions Philippe has offered, and made good on his offer to donate his chocolates to personal events (birthdays, etc...) Over and over, me and my guests have very much enjoyed his contribution and generosity.

I have been blissing out on Philippe's amazing chocolates for years now. He used to bring his chocolates to parties as gifts, something that was eagerly anticipated, He has developed a reputation during that time. At parties, people lean over chocolate truffles eagerly, saying "oooh, are those Philippe's trouffles?!" When the answer is yes, the response is delight. When the answer is no, people actually sometimes wander off disappointedly, forgetting all about the lesser chocolate. Seriously, these chocolates are that good. They melt away in your mouth like a dream you want to never end.

Oh, Edible Love Chocolates, how I miss thee.  Let me count the ways... well, it's really the sultry chocolate mixed with the flair of spice that make me a loyal fan. Forever.  When I moved away from SF, I asked Phillipe to send me a package of his lovely chocolates: they arrived in perfect condition.  Phillipe takes great care in making the chocolates; that's why they're so good, because he puts the love in Edible Love (I know that was cheesy, but it's true)  I miss you, Edible Love!

My friend Briana brought me a sample of Phillipe's Love Chocolates, and like other jaded Yelpers, I almost resisted.  Heck,I was dieting that day.  And to my surprise, these were some of the best chocolates I've ever tasted.  I always thought the hard part was making the chocolate pretty, but it turns out that lots of people can do that.  What's on the inside.. is it soft and does it melt in your mouth and make you want to linger like you do when someone kisses you just the way you like it.  Yup, that good.  Yum!

13 out of 21 of these reviewers have less than 20 reviews. Smells fishy? Well at least the chocolate tastes darn good. I was surprised at how smooth the chocolate is. I kinda wanted another one but it felt like I just ate a huge ice cream sundae. Philippe Lewis' bohemian Willy Wonka is somewhat confusing. Is that his real voice?

Okay, so I'm at this trunk show and I'm checking out this guys display of chocolates and I'm thinking to myself, "Wonder what's so special about HIS chocolates!"  I avoid it and don't even go there because the last thing my bloated butt needs is chocolate.  Then at the end of the show, this man walks up to me and asks me if I'd like a sample of his chocolate.  He had samples set out during the day and at the end was cleaning up and giving the rest of the samples away.  I bite into this chocolate and I think my eyes rolled to the back of my head as if I'd taken a hit from a crack pipe.  The flavor was rose, the inside texture was creamy.  It was refreshing and not the slightest bit too rich.  Now as a chocolate lover and taster of fine chocolates, I guess you could say I'm a bit snobby about these delectable morsels......the spawn of the devil.  But Phillippe has got it.  He is the master.  And now he's got me so addicted like a serious crack dealer and I gotta get me some more.

I urge you to try an assorted box of his chocolates.  He'll also deliver and you'll find him at various shows around the bay area.  I've tried all of them and next to the rose flavor, cayenne is next in line.

One night I was working a small spa event and someone spotted Phillippe's car and walked in.   So they came in and we're thinking these people would like a spa treatment right?  No, they wanted the chocolatier!  Can't say I don't blame them!

Phillippe is really awsome.  Great guy all around.  If you have a special occasion, event, wedding, party......whatever.  Buy some.  And he'll let you sample too!

Edible Love Chocolates, are mind blowing. I Have had them on many occassions. I was asking Phillippe why they tasted so good compared to other truffles, which are often dry and old tasting, he said it was the fresh cream and butter in them. Well it is the best tasting truffle I have ever eaten. My first one had rose oil, my whole mouth lit up. Or the secret Cayenne, just enough to lite up your face. They rock. The best.

In search of a special gift for my girlfriend with a very refined (and extremely picky) taste for dark chocolate, I decided upon Edible Love after seeing the numerous glowing reviews for Phillipe's truffles. The reviews weren't lying. Phillipe's truffles are some of the best I've ever had, and more importantly, my girlfriend felt they were excellent! We both felt that the Kahlua-flavored one was especially great.

I'm now a forever-fan and will definitely be ordering more chocolate from Phillipe in the future.

This is my first review on Yelp and I'm doing it ONLY because I was sooooo impressed with the Edible-Love Chocolates!!
I tried them for the first time on Valentines Day at a party.  I had a bite of a sweet dark truffle with a soft center that just melted in my mouth.  I commented to the people around me that this was one of the best chocolates I had ever tasted.  They agreed but at that time none of us even knew that the chocolatier was at the party!
I should also mention that being a diabetic, I knew I shouldn't have a second one...... BUT I just could NOT resist!  They're simply too delicious!

Who knew that simply down-home made chocolate truffles could be better than anything that comes in a fancy box and bow. I had the incredible fortune of making truffles with Philippe one day and my mind was blown by the smooth taste of the ganache with the ever so crunchy chocolate outer layer. Rose, coconut, kaluha, you never quite know what you're going to get in a box of Edible Love. My only rec is to not eat too many in one sitting, these are not the bon-bons you pop while lounging in your stilettos...they are to be savored and devoured over time and perhaps with a glass of red wine.

These chocolates are absolutely amazing. The hard outer shell and the melt in your mouth inside... make these chocolates out of this word. I purchased a variety box of 9 because I wanted to try the different filling flavors... each was better than the last. The texture is incredible, and these chocolates are just the RIGHT richness. Sometimes you find yourself needing a glass of water after eating some more intense chocolate, but the ingredients are so high quality, Phillippe really makes the perfect truffle. (Also, if the box makes it beyond a could hours, make sure to refrigerate... organic high quality ingredients are perishable!)
Don't be confused! This isn't a storefront, it's actually a home address. You have to email or call in your order for pick up! I know it seems like a lot of trouble for "just some chocolate", but it's WELL worth the effort! Besides, you can always plan a nice jaunt down college, or a date dinner night at some of the nearby (and also great) restaurants. The neighborhood is great!
Don't be intimidated, order these chocolates... and you definitely will be pleasantly surprised. I'm already trying to figure out another excuse to be wandering down Woolsey!
