All those years they were on Castro in Mountain View... but sadly, they moved before I started pretending I was mini-Martha Stewart!

I ventured in here looking for some "hip" fabrics to line a purse I made.  I was initially searching for Michael Miller which is what brought me to EQB to begin with.  What I ended up finding (and falling in love with) was Amy Butler's AMAZINGLY beautiful, contemporary, fun, hip, colorful, bold ~shall I continue?~ fabrics!  And lucky me happened in as they had just finished unloading a big delivery of them!  I've never spent so much time in a fabric store for lack of decision-making ability.  Usually it's because I can't find anything very cute so I stick around searching.  But today I couldn't decide to go with "really cute", "beautiful", "colorful and contemporary", "hip and stylish" or "perfectly classy".  Talk about a tough decision.

In the end I made a mental note to start sewing some more (hell even if it's to make myself a tablecloth!) so that  I could return for more beautiful fabrics.  Please note that my definition of beautiful may not be the same as others.  Check out Amy Butler's fabrics for my definition of amazing fabric patterns! http://www.amybutlerde...

Back to Eddie's.  The store was large with tons of fabric choices.  From kitschy and kiddy to flowery and polka-dotty.  Asian patterns and color and texture - even a selection of Wizard of Oz fabric.  I really don't think I could come up with a fabric choice they couldn't fill!

This is definitely a Quilters Store though.  Unless I totally missed them, they don't have clothing patterns but lots of quilting books.  A good selection of machines that I didn't need to look through at all.  But mostly the fabric... It's no Britex (SF) but it's all I'd ever need and more to line purses, make tablecloths and maybe even something crazy like sewing PJ pants!

Have been dealing with this shop for about 10 years.  Formerly they were on Castro Street in Mountain View but moved to a much larger facility in Sunnyvale.  Tons of fabric with new stuff coming in all the time. The sewing machine department has about 50 machines and sergers from Husgvarna, Bernina and Babylock.  Eddie's provides classes and service for three years after purchase.  And advice and answers for many years after that.   They have a service department on site and factory trained techs to work on your machine.

An elevator whisks you up to the second floor where you'll find two classrooms and more fabric.  There are many classes to choose from during the year taught by talented local quilters as well as nationally known instructors.  Eddie's also has special events during the year.  And if you've never attended one of them, you've really missed out.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will help with fabric choices if asked.  Eddie and his wife, Dawn are also available.   If you can't find what you're looking for they'll order it for you.

Parking at this locations is so much better than the old store on Castro Street.  They have a large private lot and they're right next door to a BofA with an even bigger lot.

Do yourself a favor and check this shop out.  You'll be glad you did.

Rose O is high. I realize that is a serious accusation but obviously that reviewer only imagined she visited EQB. Eddie's is a great sewing store!

They carry Viking and Huskylock, Babylock. They have many sewing and quilting classes to choose from with really great instructors. They have a loyalty program that requires NO CARD. They have every OEM part or accessory you could ever ask for and if they don't have it they will order it for you ASAP. They sell quality thread and notions. Heck you can even buy sewing furniture there. EQB also carries lots of goodies for those who love machine embroidery. And fabric? Their quilting fabric is very high quality. I also understand that they will be adding more fashion fabrics to Dawn's House of Sewing. The fashion fabric is of particular interest to me since I rarely quilt and am tired of shopping for textiles online.

Eddie's is a family owned store. That's right. Eddie exists and you'll find him along with his wife Dawn working in the store right alongside the rest of their employees.

Bonus points for any quilting store that is open after 5 PM. They are open to 8:30 or maybe 9 on weeknights and they are open on Sat and Sun too.

I only took one star off for prices that are a bit high. I don't think they are unfair but I wish some things would go on a deeper discount from time to time so that I could afford more of their wonderful fabrics.

I love this place! The people who work here and the customers who frequent it are so friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of very cute fabrics (including Amy Butler) and they offer lots of classes from beginning sewing to how to use a serger.

I don't know the first thing about sewing; I broke 7 needles in my junior high sewing class and haven't really attempted to sew anything since then. But, my roommate does; she's a newly initiated quilting bee, and for fun I went with her on a fabric scouting excursion. It. opened. up. me. eyes! Tons of beautiful fabric, cheap buckets of buttons, and a whole bunch of thread and yarn to make a quilting fanatic drool from wonder. But, the best part? The customer service; Eddie's incredibly helpful, has no reason to cheat you, and is very knowledgable of his stock. He dishes out some thoroughly thoughtout advice and is patient with sputters of questions. I don't know a thing about sewing, but it was a lot of fun, very educational, and my roommate was bursting with quilting happiness. I'll come back to be inspired, and probably snag some fabric to play with.

The best place to buy a sewing machine in the Bay Area. Their prices seem high at first but they actually do discount them and have good sales occasionally. I have bought two Baby Lock machines here, a serger and a sewing machine. The best part is the free maintenance services and classes that come with every machine, for 5 years after you buy it. The classes were good.

Eddie himself is very friendly and knowledgeable, and some of the other sales women have gotten friendlier in the past years. Nice fabrics too, they carry a lot of non-traditional quilting cottons like the Alexander Henry tattoo flash.

If you like to sew, quilt, or do anything with needles --- sewing needles that is --- this place is THE place to go. They have sewing lessons for those who are wanting to learn, as well as knitting stuff, quilting classes, just about anything you want to know about needlework and more. The staff are happy to help and offer advice.

This is the largest quilting store I know of in the South Bay/Peninsula area, and they have a really nice selection of fabrics, including lovely Asian prints.  They also sell sewing machines and notions, as well as classes and lessons if you need some help getting started.

You might want to avoid visiting this store during weekday lunchtime, as you'll end up fighting for parking or at least looking for awhile.

I am not a quilter, only an amateur seamstress

Eddie is knowledgeable and provides fantastic service.  You cannot put a price on the service he provides as far as machines go.  Prices for fabrics and thread (non-quilting stuff) may not meet the lower prices of corporate places like Joann's Fabrics but Eddie makes up for that 10 fold for the free lessons and repairs on the machines.  Don't be fooled by the tiny storefront - the inside is HUGE (it's narrow but very long).
