Well I'll start by saying I don't "dry-clean" clothes a whole lot and am trying to make the most eco-friendly decision with any money I spend, so I decided to check these guys out.
I took a vintage and pretty intricately crocheted scarf/shawl and was charged $6. It was returned a very nice, bright white (better than when I bought it 6 years ago) and had been taken good care of; no rips, tears, etc. I thought that was fair.
Then when I brought in an alpaca scarf, King comforter, and a "jacket-sized" sweater that miiight have had some embarrassing stains on them, aka I had a rough wknd with a little too much drinking....no one made me feel terribly embarrassed when I admitted to the soils. The comforter came to about $35, sweater was only $9, and the scarf $6.
Both times I went everyone was extremely nice and helpful. I never felt like anyone was deceitful with quoting me prices and they even warned me that they were nervous about taking my delicate vintage scarf on, but I said go for it. Service was next day at no extra charge and I since they're open after 5pm I can actually get there after work.
Sorry to hear about all the bad reviews, but I've had only good experiences so far and will continue to bring them items as I need to. -

I was happy about the theory of EcoClean and receiving my clothes back not smelling of chemicals. They did a good job there.
I did not receive a great experience with the manager though. I brought in a Groupon that did expire a year ago. I know that is a long time, but I don't wear many dry clean only clothes & had a baby - so a little busy. I let the guy working the desk know about my expired Groupon and said per law I'm aware that they have to redeem for the $20 I purchased it for, not the $40 if I redeemed on time. He was very nice during drop off and pick up but the manager at time of pick up was a Dry Cleaned Sassy Pants! She complained how now that she was 40 she couldn't see the fine print on my Groupon. Finally she went to get her glasses & kept saying how she didn't understand why when her business only got $10 from this offer she should still have to redeem for $20. I claimed state law that gift certificates don't expire & Groupon policy. She claimed "whoa is me."
In the end, she only would discount my bill $10, not the $20 law says I should have. I spoke with Groupon & they said I was right & she was wrong.
Another note, I also did not see a pricing list. It is pretty expensive but if you drop off on Wednesday with a Go Local Card you get %15 off. Prices should be posted and that lady manager should read fine print when they sign up for advertising deals. -

I've tried giving them the benefit of the doubt. Tried to stay eco-friendly. Looked past the ever changing price list and delivery problems. But this is the last straw,
A $1000 suit and now a $250 pair of pants... ruined. The suit is so misshapen, another tailer said there was no hope in salvage and now a 1 WEEK OLD pair of pants, singed, hem's pulled out and with a brand spanking new WHOLE!
I just don't understand it. I could have run these items throug the spin-cycle at home and they would have fared better... -

Do NOT take your clothes to EcoClean. They ruined my cashmere sweater and blamed it on insect damaged. There were three, quarter-inch holes on the shoulder, and two on the bottom left side.
I had worn the sweater the week before. There is no way an insect could've done that kind of damage in a week, and I know I didn't snag it on anything, either. I showed the holes to two fashion designer friends, one of whom has a master's degree in textiles, and they both said it looked like a machine created the holes, not insects.
It would've been one thing if EcoClean had admitted to putting the holes in my sweater - I might consider going back because perc and dry cleaning chemicals are so bad. But they didn't own up to what they did. They even stapled a patronizing hand-out about insect damage on the receipt!
EcoClean takes advantage of the fact that they're the only dry cleaners in Austin that can boast being environmentally friendly. They take advantage of people's good consciences, overcharge them and, more often than they should, ruin their clothes -

So I think they do a good job dry-cleaning.
What they don't do a good job is with setting expectations on pricing. Deceptive even.
They refuse to tell you how much dry-cleaning your items will be, even when you have the items in front of you.
So I was pretty shocked when they told me my bill was $92 for 4 items.
I asked for a brochure with prices but they don't have that. They have a display on the side that said: dresses: $15.
Ok, then why are all my 3 dresses priced over $20?
"Oh, they have lining. Even some beads will raise the prices."
In that case, price dresses at $23 each then, instead of saying $15. Most quality dresses *have* lining. If they're simple non-lined dresses with no beads or anything frilly, I would've thrown them into the washer.
They find stains and clean them even if you don't ask, and then upcharge you.
They upcharge everything. Which is why they won't tell you how much it costs laundrying something.
Sad. I'm going to try to visit them as sparingly as possible and wash things by hand as much as possible.
Way. Overpriced.Comment from John D. of EcoClean 3/29/2011

So... I don't dry clean my clothes. It IS pretty bad for the planet, and I can deal with wrinkles.
I thought ecoclean would be a cool solution. I'd finally start to look business casual when appropriate, while not being a toxic a-hat.
Yeah... well... you know that other stuff in the reviews about misleading prices? Yeah. It's a bummer.
I brought in four items, and asked for an estimate. The dude behind the counter sort of shrugged. *Well, you work here, dude. You should probably know this kind of thing.* ( internal dialogue). I asked if they could reattach a strap on one dress. He didn't know that either.
When I came to pick up the dry cleaning, the equally cheerful and knowledgeable counter staff (sarcasm) informed me it was going to be $78.
WHAAAA? I would have passed out or possibly gone into some kind of a fit but for my amazing control over my inner tantrum-thrower. I paid it. I mean, after all, they were holding my lime green twirly dress hostage.
So... I'll be washing things in the sink from now on while dreaming of a better day when pirates and highwaymen are the stuff of bedtime stories. Environmentally friendly? Um... environmental, yes. Friendly? Not even close.
IN A NUTSHELL:
Great idea. Love the sentiment. Tell me before hand how much to expect to pay so I can decide if it's worth it. And maybe work on that crazy "customer service" thing. It really does help. -

I'm subtracting a star because frankly, it's becoming too expensive to justify. Of course I want to be enviro-friendly, but not at this price. 3 dresses cleaned for $59- the dresses are almost not worth it. They no longer give a 10% discount for return business either and will only stamp your loyalty card 1 time per visit, instead of 1 time per $20 spent. Boo.
Was told by staff there that their prices are comparable. Just called Reid's for a quote: a silk dress w/lining would cost $12.25 vs. $19-something at eco-cleaners. That's not comparable, that's a 50% increase in price.
Will try Reid's from now on.Listed in: Places NOT to go in Austin

I try to maintain a green lifestyle as much as possible. My food is organic, my cleaning supplies are natural, and one of the last steps was to switch to a non toxic dry-cleaner.
I decided to ignore the bad reviews and give Eco Clean a try. Well, I'm very disappointed for a few reasons. The first one being that they damaged all the buttons on one of my shirts, and failed to clean some other garments but still charged me full price for them.
(Basically, they didn't inspect the garments for stains or marks before returning them to me. Were they even cleaned, or did the stains just stick? Who knows...but it makes me feel like they don't care about their customers having clean garments, because at the very least i'd expect a "we tried our best to clean this but couldn't remove the stains" notice on any garment returned dirty).
These things can happen, so I didn't get too upset about it even though Eco Clean wasn't off to a good start.
However, I decided not to send anymore clothing to them until my shirt/buttons issue was resolved. I'm pretty busy and driving all the way to their location in traffic is a pain for me, but I did it and regretted it.
I was stuck in traffic, and so I first called the store to confirm their hours of operation. I then realized I was going to make it there just in time, so I called to inform the young man that I was two blocks away at a light, but that I'm almost there. I arrived 5 minutes before closing time, and guess what, the store was closed. Not only did he close early, but he closed in my face!
I understand some people hate their jobs and can't wait to leave work, but in the short time I used their service, I sent full bags of clothing there. The minimum I ask is to be treated with respect by a business I'm spending so much money on.
This lack of customer service is what really upset me and is the reason I won't be using their services anymore.
PS. I sent the same "dirty" clothes to my former dry-cleaners, and guess what, they were returned cleaned! -

I'm very happy this business exists- I am highly against dry cleaning or supporting the companies that provide it. I tend to avoid buying dry clean-only clothing, but I also know that clothes are often tagged that way to avoid textile testing and actually can be safely hand or gentle washed. I don't mind washing clothes myself, but cannot press them the way cleaners can so this service is a good option for me.
I rarely have used this business over the years due to it's location being far from my home, but now that my job requires professional dress, I started using ecoclean's delivery service. It's very convenient. So convenient that I was sure the rest of my office would jump on board, but they were not sure about wet-cleaning their clothes and decided to wait to see my first delivery. I cleaned dress pants, casual pants, shirts and sweaters. They smelled fresh and looked nice and the delivery guys were friendly. But when the office inspected my clothes with me, we found pressing errors and shrinkage. So they didn't pass the test and my co-workers continue to use dry cleaners. The pants were all requested to be pressed without seams, but half had them anyway. There also were folds ironed into them along the sides and on the pant legs, where a 4 inch heavy pressed fold is highly visible and impossible to correct with my hand iron at home. 2 sweaters shrunk and they also had some pressed creases in odd places. The industrial press is really the only reason I have to pay $8-10 an item for cleaning since I can use the hand wash cycle on my own washer, so I was disappointed with the first order and embarrassed after insisting to my co-workers that this was a better option than dry cleaning. I wish I could praise this business, but will have to wait until they improve their pressing and will have to continue washing my sweaters at home to avoid shrinkage. -

I went back today to pick up my pants and the aforementioned TC (I feel like a jerk for not remembering his real name) was there to warmly greet me. He apologized for overlooking my hangers and also for the attitude that I encountered by the other staff member.
He told me that he is the new manager, hired to improve customer service but that she is there to teach him how the place operates in the short-term. He apologized several times, and explained that they are in the processes weeding out those with bad attitudes. He comped the dry-cleaning of my pants and said that he hoped to see me back again because he really believes that the services provided are wonderful (and I agree).
I was very happy that he even remembered me and what I brought in as soon as I walked in, and more happy with how he handled the situation. The fact that he went out of his way to let me know what was going on with the business showed me that he truly cares about people's perception of the place. Golden.
I will definitely give them another try. I may have judged too harshly, but one bad apple can really make you crazy sometimes =)1 Previous Review: Show all »

One shouldn't have to be reminded that the world of soft-break houndstooth, medium-starch French-cuffs and silk ties wouldn't fit well with the world of patchouli, whale-saving and tofu. But for those of you who, as I did, might briefly forget, let me express this important concept in a simple equation:
Hippies + Dry Cleaning = Disaster
Commit this equation to memory; it will save you money, frustration, and the embarassment of walking about in half-clean, egregiously mis-creased suits. Buy local, eat organic, vote Green, hug trees and, by god, buy carbon credits if you have to---but dry cleaning is best done toxically, or not done at all. -

The only dry cleaners I give my business to. No nasty chemicals such as perchlorethylene here. I have had good luck with overall cleaning, pressing, and removing stains -- plus they are careful with my silk things. Timely, friendly, priced right.
Better for the environment and the air-quality of your home.
You can recycle your dry cleaning plastic covers and wire hangers on site. Cool.Listed in: Eco-List

Sigh. So I went back and thought, hey, maybe all they need is a second chance! Well that sort of optimistic thinking resulted in another nice garment absolutely ruined. Here's the funny part (well, I'm not laughing): I turned it in without any stains, and my dry cleaning order got held up because they had created a nice pink smudge all across the beige collar of this jacket. They asked me to come back that same day and when I did...wow, the garment was not done. It's amazing that they put your contact phone number on the receipt, yet fail to warn you before you make the hike up there.
But I digress...they insisted on charging me full price for the dry cleaning (and no discount, even though they took longer and created a nice new fat stain) and even when I returned ...the garment looked REMARKABLY smaller. Cleaning 101: Wool should never be washed and dried. Oh, and don't tell the customer you didn't wash it. It is painfully obvious when wool is washed and dried.
The jacket had magically shrunk to leprechaun size, but oh look the pink stain we created is gone! It was a gorgeous jacket and purchased overseas. Of course there is no receipt for such a purchase, even though they offered to pay me for the garment. Instead, it would have been nice to credit back my dry cleaning bill in its entirety, but no, that's asking too much customer service.
Here's another odd part. They took the jacket. Why? To ship it off to dry-cleaning institution somewhere.
So to recap, I turned in a nice relatively clean beige wool jacket, made several trips back to see whether they had removed their pink stain, paid full price, and then was given a shrunken obviously-washed jacket, which they promptly took back. Oh, but upon demand I was given my $8 back for the dry cleaning of that jacket.
EcoClean, your customer service, or lack thereof, is really disappointing. You obviously are not concerned about losing customers. Perhaps it is time for another eco-friendly dry cleaner in town.1 Previous Review: Show all »

EcoMar or EcoClean as they are known now is the best dry cleaners/full service laundry mats in Austin.
I used to use their service-- so I'm familiar with their price breakdown.
You load an account with a 100 bucks which they give you a bonus 20 for doing. Using your account is easy because of the automated computer system they use for checking out.
They measure clothes by the pound-- so I would avoid heavy blankets or towels if you can. Each pound is taken out of the credit you have on your account.
Having your laundry washed and folded-- or hung if it's a collar shirt is a nice frill if your a busy person.
A big bonus of using EcoClean is that they don't use any chemicals when they process your clothes. So you can feel good that you won't get weird rashes or that your allergies will act up after wearing clothes from them.
A co-worker of mine who has bad allergies to cleaning products brought her scarf there to be dry cleaned and was happy to get it back clean and with out the irritation to her allergies that other dry cleaners provided.

This is going to be a short review because these guys are awesome! The counter girls are always friendly and helpful and my cloths are always perfect! I never have to tell them of a missing button or a stain they missed cause it never happens. Stop using traditional cleaners and start using Eco Clean!

I'm all about avoiding chemicals and trying new stuff. What better way to do this than dry cleaning. This place is very Austin, and it does some pretty jammin' job cleaning garments.
Also, I came across "Nature's Wash Soap Nuts" on some website, and I couldn't buy them anywhere in Austin. I think EcoClean is the only place that distributes these, and I was really surprised when a sample pack of 6 nuts in a sack was only $1. Well, these things do the trick, and I like the idea of using a nut to wash my clothes.
All in all, a unique place to do your cleaning, and a good one at that. -

Interesting that 5 star reviews made before mine remain at the top of the list (a policy of yelp? I'm not sure.), but this place definitely deserves the bad reviews it gets. In fact, they don't even properly perform the ONE SERVICE they are in business for- DRY CLEANING. "EcoClean- Non Toxic Drycleaning and Laundry" is more of a novel idea to them than an actual service they offer, but read on if you want to know how they ruin garments and don't show a bit of remorse when it happens.
Okay I get it. Keep it local. But when you can't even do the ONE SERVICE you base your entire company off of, you're doing something very wrong.
My husband used to go there to bring his laundry for their wash and fold service. He only brought t-shirts so they never seemed to come back too bad- so I decided to bring a couple of things in one day. A pair of jeans that had a slight stain on them, and a delicate sweater that needed to be freshened up.
When we dropped them off, I asked the items to be drycleaned, as the pants needed some special stain attention and the sweater could not be washed. They said it would be ready in a few days.
My husband picks them up a few days later, and the pants are starched to high hell (does anyone like wear flat pants these days?) and the stain was still there- now set in permanently. So not only did I pay $10 for them to not wash my jeans, but they ruined them. Another option that they could have done was when the stain didn't come out with their first try, they could have contacted me to let me know or kept it a few extra days to try some other cleaning methods. But they just seem to overlook the details. And by details- I mean your clothes.
My sweater came back looking fine, a big snagged but nothing I could complain too much about. I considered the pants a loss and moved on.
Fast forward a few months later. My husband and I get back from a formal party and need some pieces of his suit cleaned. While I was at work, he brought in his suit, my sweater, and my dress from the event to Ecoclean. After getting home and reading other yelpers's bad experiences with their articles of clothing, I was not willing to risk it again with my nice dress. We hurried up to the place to get it back before they had a chance with it.
My husband goes it to get it back, and realizes when he is looking at the dry cleaning receipt, that at the bottom is stated that he was paying for a "wet cleaning." Knowing that this was not how you clean a suit, which he specifically asked for drycleaning on hours earlier, he asked the guy at the counter why the receipt said that. The guy responded with a condescending laugh, and stated that they don't even do drycleaning, that they use a wet method, which is never stated to their customers. My huband looked at the guy and asked why he thought a suit could just be cleaned in the washing machine when it says on the tag "dryclean only." The guy couldn't answer so he asked for all of our clothes back, to which the guy responded with "Really?" and asked him why. It was then that my husband told him that I had already had one piece of clothing ruined by them before, and I didn't trust them with our clothes. The guy continued to be condescending as he handed our clothes back over, being sure to get out a "Try us again next time!" as he left. What a joke.
If this method is their only way of cleaning garments, and so many peoples' clothes seemed to get ruined by these methods, why don't they at least have a guide to what pieces of clothing are safe to be cleaned that way, instead of handing burned, ripped and shrunk pieces back to their over-paying customers? This is a joke that this place is even open, and allowed to call itself a "drycleaning" service. Not only that, but it is super expensive on top of things.Comment from John D. of EcoClean 3/29/2011

I like that this place doesn't use any perc chemicals, which is the main draw for me. The more I read about their nasty cancer-y side effects the less inclined I am to get my clothes traditionally dry cleaned.
Personally, everything they've ever cleaned for me has come back looking and smelling great, and no shrinkage problems (yes, this includes wool, silk, and blends). It's a bit pricier than a regular dry cleaners, but I'd imagine it's for good reason. -

Being eco-friendly is effing expensive. I brought two blouses here to dry clean without checking the prices. It turns out it costs about $7 to dry clean a blouse. The staff was very friendly, and I got my clothes back in a timely manner. I think they did a great job. I also liked their summer promo, which was 1 lb of free wash and fold with every $5 you spent on dry cleaning? Something like that. So of course I took advantage of that. Good job, Eco Clean! If you weren't so pricey, I would hit you up more often.

I am NOT interested in cleaning my clothing with something like PERC so I thought EcoClean sounded like a godsend.
And sometimes it is.
Often, the clothing I take there (silk dresses, linen blend lined slacks) comes back clean, pressed, and ready to wear minus all the chemicals. But sometimes my clothing comes back smaller, which is not good.
I brought my beloved (too expensive, splurge-y) wool Anthropologie sweater coat there for a cleaning and they warned me they would shrink it. And they did. I didn't have an alternative, though, so I kept going. I cleaned it there 2 or 3 times, and gradually the wool sort of felted together and the sleeves, which had come down to my mid-thumb, barely came to the crease in my wrist.
It has, through no fault of EcoClean, developed a hole in the elbow, so I am neither wearing nor cleaning it, but I have worn it less since the extreme shrinkage anyway.
I am afraid to take other wool clothing there despite assurances from the staff that the fit and size won't be impacted by the cleaning service.
So the take-away is this: for non-wool items I've had a great experience, but I am hesitant about bringing (expensive or one-of-a-kind) wool items there for cleaning. -

This place is awful. DO NOT go here if you want to get your clothes cleaned for any type of a moderate price. Plus, if you care at all about customer service, you should run screaming.
I went in to get 3 items dry-cleaned. One was a sweater, another a simple dress, and the third a cocktail dress with a lot of pleats. I told the man at the counter that I needed the three items dry-cleaned, and he took the clothes, and gave me a ticket. The ticket, like apparently so many previous Yelpers have stated, said 3 Wet-Cleaning. I panicked because one of the dresses wasn't mine, and I didn't want to ruin a friend's dress, so I called the store... 3 times! And every single time the phone just rang and rang.
So I went back today to pick up my clothes. They were ready and the bill was, for three items, $55!! I nearly choked on my own tongue. I was furious. I felt mislead (which was partially my fault for not flat out asking how much it would cost). Honestly, I feel like this company is ripping people off!!
You can do local, or even eco-friendly, without going here. So please, if you want to save yourself some of that hard-earned cash, go somewhere else.Comment from John D. of EcoClean 4/19/2011

I don't want to wear clothes treated by toxic chemicals (because the clothes are in direct contact with your skin - all day long). My clothes have always held up well from the treatments too.

***Update:
Eco Clean was either pay for the dress or send it to their alteration specialist. The alteration specialist (also another dry cleaner) was across the street from Eco Clean, called Four Sons Cleaners.
By now, I have spent weeks calling Monica the manager to get her to resolve this problem.
I told Eco Clean I will pick up the dress, take it to the alteration specialist that they work with and meet with the alteration specialist to specify what she needed to fix.
Even though she did not speak English, she understood that there are holes and she needed to patch it.
I even gave them an extra week to make sure the job was done - correctly.
When I went to pick it up, not only their alteration specialist did not sew the buttons on seamlessly
-- SHE DIDN'T EVEN USE THE SAME COLOR THREAD!
I could have done this job myself, intoxicated and it would look more professional than theirs.
Worse, the other ladies in the cleaners turned their backs on me and said, 'She said, that is the best she could do.'
This is the quality and customer service Four Sons delivered, the most disappointing service from ' a well-established, family-run business founded on the basis of exceptional quality...' business.
I took my (still damaged) dress to Eco Cleans and demanded to speak to another manager. This man agreed Four Sons Cleaners did not fix my dress and he was going to send it to Houston to have my dress fixed.
At this time, I also demanded a refund from Eco Clean for this dress -$25 to have this dress dry cleaned (and damaged by them).
Three weeks later, Eco Clean refunded my money and my dress was fixed.
The whole ordeal was about 6 weeks in total just for them to get their crap together.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ugh... okay.. so -- a year ago they shrink my coat. Then I write a review.. the owner gets back with me - apologize, apologize, explain, explain. I've been back a couple of other times and they have been rude. Oh - wait.. no.. not everyone, the young girls have been very nice. But I've been stuck with an older lady at the counter (I think the manager) who has never been nice.
Frankly I'm lazy and live close. So I decide to give them another try this week. UGH!! UGH ~ Did you get that? "She" is at the counter, so I hold my breath anyway.. and maybe some of this is my preconceptions, but I needed some cleaning and she says that they are 'swamped' and starts talking to herself out of thin air.. just having a conversation one slow word at a time and completely ignores me. Right in front of my face.
She turns around and I notice that shes on an ear-piece phone (I don't even walk up to counters as a customer while I'm on the phone). No 'excuse me' or 'let me finish' Nada. So I ask "when" can I have my items cleaned and she says "I told you we're swamped and I don't know" and with a snippy, leave-me-alone "Dorothy" from the Golden Girls attitude. WTF! So I take my clothes with me out the door with no notice from her, as she remains on the phone.
Really? Really? I would rather jump in a tub of toxic chemicals than walk back through that door. I'm done trying - don't bother to write me owner.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

I have tried several dry cleaners around the campus area, and am stuck on eco clean. They are helpful, conveniently located, reasonably priced, and chem free. They always get my clothes back quickly and check to make sure that the clothes aren't damaged. I have been going back consistently for several months now and have no complaints.

Knowing how much conventional dry cleaning pollutes indoor air, I have been using EcoClean since I had children more than 10 years ago. I am very happy with the service and quality of cleaning. They also aim to please when they make a mistake, which has happened only once to me. Once my wait was a few minutes too many while they located my clothing (an intake mix-up) and they took care of the entire bill ... and I hadn't even been complaining.

Fast-next day service. Convenient-close to campus. Friendly. And no harsh chemicals. What else can I say?

I really like this place. Wish the prices were a little lower but they are only a tad higher than most good non-eco friendly cleaners so really nothing too bad. Plus, most cleaners use absolutely terrible chemicals that you end up giving you all sorts of health problems. They always do a great job and if you wish to avoid chemicals this is the best place in town.

I switched to Ecoclean from Westbank about a year ago because I appreciated their explicit commitment to staying away from all the harsh chemicals that come along with dry cleaning. Although, at the time I gave up something in service in making the switch. Westbank has killer service, but after a year of sticking with Ecoclean, I can say they've come a very long way to the point where I don't miss Westbank's service at all. In fact, Ecoclean has recently taking a clear step ahead in terms of service with their new pick up and drop off service. As a road warrior, every minute I don't have to be running errands is another minute I can spend with my family. So, this new service is a huge hit with me. Thanks Ecoclean!

What a great find. When you get your clothes back, they don't smell like cigars or other people's dirty clothes partially masked with deodorizer.

I had gone this eco cleaners a handful of times and although they are expensive, I felt good about my dry cleaning choice (e.g. less chemicals, etc). Oh, but how I could be so wrong.
I brought in a cocktail dress I had only worn once. When I picked it up and brought it home to hang up I realized there were charred looking spots all over the back of it. I immediately brought it back to the eco cleaners, literally within 20 minutes. This is the start of my customer service from hell experience. First, they immediately denied they did anything. I asked to talk to a manager after 10 minutes of getting nowhere. The manager said they would attempt to clean, so I left the dress. When I went back to pick it up it was not fixed but looked like actual color had now come out of the silk dress. Still believing they were not at fault they told me to take it to a "regular" cleaners to see if that would help. Unfortunately the regular cleaners said the dress had been ruined and there was nothing they could do. So I brought it back one more time nicely pleading my case and hoping for at least the offer to get some money back for the ruined dress - but nothing but more excuses.
And to top it all off they never even offered to reimburse me the $14 they charged to clean it in the first place. To this day I have gotten no "I'm Sorrrys". AVOID THIS PLACE. -

i have been a dedicated client of ecomat for almost a year now. they know me by name when i come in and they are always quite friendly. more importantly they take better care of my clothes than any other dry cleaner i have ever worked with, and i am a high volume dry cleaning user. (5 shirts and 1 suit/week) in other words i give them lots of opportunity to screw up. they have never been late. they have never returned my clothes to me in worse shape than i have given them. (with the exception of one broken button) they have often gotten stains out that i thought were going to ruin my clothes. they may be a bit more expensive, but you can save yourself some cash if you do their "buy in advance" program. i think you give them $100 and they give you $120 worth of dry cleanin or something like that. whats more...they are even good for the environment and your clothes don't come back smelling like a chemical plant.
i wouldn't be a completely well rounded reviewer if i didn't discuss one other item. i recommended this place as an option to a very very dear friend of mine when another friend of mine wrote on her very nice jacket w/ lipstick. they took good care of her jacket and fixed it, but since that time she has not been satisfied. apparently they broke a button on another jacket, but to my knowledge she never brought this to the management's attention. she also asserts that they shrunk one of her garments. while this would certainly be an item of concern for any dry cleaning patron...i feel it is important to note that the average patron doesn't gorge 8 times a day. i mean...this girl eats...fatty fatty greasy food. she drinks excessively...dark heavy beers...she leads a pretty lethargic lifestyle too. in any event...you might want to take her "clothes shrinking" story w/ a grain of salt. but again...i am a balanced reviewer so i believe in showing you all sides of a story. -

I have used Ecomat Cleaners since 2002 for my dry cleaning so I have some experience with them. I have never had a problem with them until last week. Last Thursday I had a wedding that I needed to go to so I decided that I should get my best suit dry cleaned.
It was a new suit having only purchased it at the beginning of April and Id only worn it 4 times. I took the suit to Ecomat to have some flecks on the seat of my pants removed on Monday. They informed me it would be ready as early as Tuesday by 5:00pm.
It was Wednesday morning when I was finally able to pick up the suit. I asked for my shirt, which still had stains on it. The lady at the register told me they couldnt get them out. I know sometimes that happens and that I would have to take it to a regular dry cleaner where they could be removed; so I took my shirt and that was that.
When I asked for my suit they brought me back the blazer, which was fine, but the pants where completely ruined. I do not know the details of what they did to my suit. All I do know is that they brought me back my pants which were now bleached white. The material was also ruined. I brought in fine, silk pants but recieved a bleached, crisp, and frazzled pair. Needless to say I was shocked.
I immediately asked for a manager. No manager was available and I was told I would have to return in an hour. I decided to leave my suit and the shirt there as evidence that I had not tampered with the clothing.
I then went to my suit shop and asked for a copy of my receipt for the suit and returned to Ecomat after an hour.
The manager was still not there, instead his wife was there to greet me. We discussed the situation. I informed her that I expected full compensation for my suit, nothing less. She told me to come back in another hour and that her husband, the actual manager, would be there. There was little I could do, so I agreed. Of course when I did finally come back, one hour later, the manager was still not there. She told me shed contact me when he did return.
After about 3 hours I recieved a phone call from the managers wife. She informed me that a check was being made out for me and that I could come by at 5:00pm to pick it up. When I asked her how much it was being made out for she told me she was willing to pay for 3/4s of the cost of the suit.
We argued.
Finally, she agreed to pay me the original amount for the suit. 5:00 came round and I came by. The check was waiting for me on the front counter. This time the manager was there. I got the envelope and looked over the check to make sure it was the right amount. It was.
I asked for my things. It was then that the manager finally turned and addressed me, quite angrily at that. He began to yell at me, saying that he bought the suit from me and that I no longer had a right to it. I argued that he was compensating me for the damages and the suit still belonged to me. Regardless of whos side you agree with, the manager was yelling at me at the top of his lungs. He implied that I was cheating him because I had not accepted the lower amount, even though the suit was clearly used. Admittedly, I lost my temper after that. Both of us were arguing with each other, screaming rather. It was quite embarrassing. He still refused to give me my clothing back. The manager eventually left, refusing to further speak to me further on the subject and demanding that I leave "or else". I was able to get my shirt back and after speaking with his wife about the treatment I had recieved, I left.
Getting your money back from anyone is hard and I appreciate that at least I had money to buy clothes for the following days wedding. But what Ecomat put me through was insulting and injurious. I warn its potential customers - be careful with bringing anything of value to these people. If they damage it, you will work hard to get compensated, and learn from me, they will not return your clothing. I do not recommend Ecomat because of their lack of ability and ethics. -

I've been patroning EcoClean for about 1 and half years now, ever since I decided to make a concerted effort at "going green." The prices were much higher than other cleaners but what a small price to pay for protecting the environment and my body right? I talked many of my friends into changing dry cleaners as well, however, they soon began to complain to me of damage to their clothing. I, as a loyal customer, begged them to think about the overall goodness of this cleaners and to ignore the small damage. With that said, it would take a lot for me to write a bad review on this company and discontinue my business there, unfortunately this is the case.
I bring ALL of my clothes to EcoClean and have not gone to any other dry cleaners in a year and a half. Of this I am sure. I do not black out for portions of the day and do things that I don't remember (I will explain this in a second). This being said, I recently pulled a $150 silk dress out of it's dry cleaning bag that I admit was sitting in my closet for maybe a couple of months since being cleaned at EcoClean (it was out of season to be worn). When I went to hang it up in a different part of my closet, I noticed the back of the dress had been damaged. The back of the dress seemed to have been steamed too much or burned or something had been done to basically thin out the material in a large section making it see through. The dress is now unwearable as the damaged area is very noticeable. I am an attorney so I figured there was some sort of time limit for reporting damage, however, I decided to take the dress back and show them in the hopes that they would show me some sort of good faith for ruining my dress ( I wasn't even expecting them to pay for the dress, just maybe a drycleaning credit). The manager wasn't in so I showed the damage to the gentleman working the counter (who looked in the system and found the dress was most likely laundered 3 months prior) and he left the dress and the note for the manager to call me on Monday. Let me also note that when I dropped off this dress I ALSO BROUGHT MORE CLOTHES TO BE DRYCLEANED, as I am a loyal customer and obviously was not trying to get over on them.
Well I did not receive a phone call until almost 5 days later and boy was that an interesting phone call. MONICA, the manager calls me and immediately has an attitude. She begins to tell me what she thinks without giving me a second to explain, she had no desire to engage in a cordial dialogue. She rudely and matter of factly tells me that she looked through ALL of my history and that I NEVER HAD THE DRESS DRYCLEANED AT ECOCLEAN, she affirmatively TOLD ME that I had taken the dress somewhere else to have it drycleaned, and I quote "I don't even know what you are claiming is damaged, because nothing is wrong with the dress."!!!!!
I sat in silence for a bit in shock. a) why was this women speaking to me like this?, b) the nerve of someone to tell me what I did and did not do, c) is she blind? because that's the only way you wouldn't be able to see the damage and the gentleman at the desk saw it clearly, and d) why the hell was SHE mad?! I should be mad! Being a professional, I responded nicely and politely and tried to talk to her in a rational manner but she refused to engage me in a polite conversation. In other words, Monica was telling me either I'm a liar or I am crazy because a) there is no damage, and b) I never drycleaned the dress at EcoClean. The best part is, after we got off the phone, I opened the bag of clothes I picked up from them when I dropped off the dress (AND MORE CLOTHES) last week and to my surprise...my green silk shirt HAD THE SAME DAMAGE!!!
Here is the thing. If Monica would not have been so unbelievably rude, I would still have continued going to EcoClean even if they had declined to do anything due to the fact that too much time had passed since the drycleaning of the dress. I understand that accidents happen and I don't expect everything to come out perfectly. I would have been disappointed but not furious. However, I will not put up with a rude unprofessional like MONICA. I am an honest person and a loyal customer and do not appreciate being spoken down to or spoken to in a condescending manner. EcoClean has not only lost my business but the business of my friends and colleagues all because of the rudeness of MONICA. P.S. I checked Yelp and many other people have had problems with MONICA. The owners should get rid of her because she is running their customers away.
