I took my Sienna in to replace the front brakes.
(I'm quite knowledgeable about cars and I've changed brakes in my other car before. I do my own oil changes and other light maintenance.)
They use OEM parts and I was told that they usually replace rotors instead of just turning them, which I was ok with.

One of the employees dropped me back home, which was an unexpected, pleasant surprise. He was great to talk to.
When I called in after the promised time of 2 hours, I was told that the rotors were upto spec and didn't need to be replaced. They showed me the new brake pads and the rotors that had been turned.

The final cost was a lot lower than the original quote because the rotors didn't have to be replaced.
The brakes feel good. I've had my brakes replaced at Sears once and they began to shudder right after I took it home. Eco Lube seems to have done their job well and tested the van.

I'll definitely go back to them for other repairs.
They didn't try to sell me anything else which is great!
I've heard horror stories about Jiffy Lube and Midas and so I typically stay away from most of these generic repair/lube shops.

    LIARS AND THIEVES!

Like many other women out there who are afraid of going to repair shops because they upsell you on things you do not need, well this place lives up to that! I took my car in to replace the brakes and they sold me on everything else. If they could have sold their kids to me, they would have!

I took my car in so they could replace the brakes, and they claimed that they did. They said they put in new rotors cause my old ones were warped. A week later the rotors went out AGAIN! Completely shot. How is that possible??? So, I ask them to fix it again... and the same thing happened AGAIN! They charged me for things that they never even fixed! They also said my car needed an alignment which cost $99. Well guess what? They don't even do alignments there because they don't have the machine to do it, yet they were still going to charge me for it. How did I know this? I called them anonymously asking for a quote on an alignment and the guy said they don't do them! Total Scam Artists. So incredibly SHADY!

DO NOT COME HERE! YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF!

This place is awful. They are liars and thieves. I took a car into them and they charged me for things that they did not do. I then asked for the parts and they gave me parts that were made for an entirely different car and pretended like those were the parts from my car. I paid to have all the brakes done, re-pack of the wheel bearings, an alignment, and replacement of 1 ball joint. All they did was replace the ball joint. Yet I paid for all of the above services. The manager was confrontational and yelled at me in front of many other people. This place deserves to be shut down.  I have forwarded all of this information to the district attorney department of consumer fraud and plan on filing against them in small claims court (yes, it is that bad) because the owner refused to give me a refund for the charges. These were charges for repairs that were never done.

    THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! I had just moved into the area and was looking for a reliable place to get my oil changed and came ECO Lube. They were so friendly and helped me right away. The service was done with great speed and accuracy. I left with my car running great and they REALLY do 8 minute oil change, which is great for fast paced people with busy schedules, like myself. I will definitely be returning to this place. They deserve the business.

I definitely appreciate the environmental consciousness of ECO Lube and like that they have an eye on doing right for the world and especially the local bay.  The services they performed were fast and I liked that the technicians who helped me showed me what they were doing.

However, as a woman, I am always a little wary of the up-sell, and I have to say that I did feel some of that here. Honestly, I think I agreed to things (a complete transmission flush) that may not have been necessary and that my husband, had he taken my car in, would have known I didn't need.  I suppose that's really more my fault, not being secure in my knowledge of cars and their service, but I did walk away feeling like maybe I'd been had a little bit.  I typically don't feel that way when I'm at Jiffy Lube.  I'll probably give this place one more chance and see how it goes.

All in all, I think the service that was performed was done well.  I'm just not sure it was all necessary.

I went here for the first time to get a simple oil change and the technicians accomplished that relatively quickly. With that said, my bullshit radar was starting to ping when the technician asked me when the last time I got my differentials serviced. I had them done last month as I'm pretty meticulous with my vehicle and its maintenance. I got the distinct impression that if I would've said "I dunno, why?" that I would've been told that they needed to be serviced, whether they needed it or not. I told the tech that I had them serviced the month prior and he seemed surprised that 1) I knew what a differential was and 2) that I was up on my maintenance. I had an ok experience here but remain wary of up-sells at this place. I don't know if I'll go back.

    --- Another Yelp Find ---

[Getting this in above the fold: Yelp discount!  $25 all in.]

Needed an oil change and had coupons for some places I had heard of close by.  Yelp reviews were APPALLING (Yelp Save #1).  It's especially scary when all the Yelp horror stories start with, "Needed an oil change and had coupons for some places..."

Then I find ECO Lube.  Visited it on a Saturday near closing time.  Not always the best time to visit a place for the first time but I want to get it done.

+ Crazy fast.  You drive up into the bay and they work on it underneath.  I was out in way under 8 minutes or whatever they promise.  If you want to catch up on your reading, go to Jiffy.

+ They checked all the fluids.  The guy above ground actually had to remove certain covers to check.  But since he's working in parallel to the guy below ground, it's still just that fast.

+ They topped up washer fluid free of charge.

+ No upsell other than a quick question in the beginning about what kind of oil I wanted.

    + Prices clearly listed.

+ Austin, the guy that did the actual oil change came above ground and briefly chatted with me.  He wasn't the owner but you could tell he cared about the business and was proud of working there.  Get this, he quoted the exact number of Yelp reviews and stars.  Apparently, whenever there's a Yelp review, the owner gets an email notification.  Generally, when the employees care that much, it's a great shop.

+ Yelp discount!  $25 even, and it includes disposal fee.

    * They're not talkative.  Well, except for Austin, but they'll answer questions.

I signed up for Yelp so I could get the check-in coupon at this place. I was very satisfied.

    - Great service
    - Very cheap ($40 after everything, including high mileage oil)
    - Friendly
    - Very quick (in and out in 15 minutes)
    - Pointed out a small oil leak on my valve gasket
    - Showed me that my transmission fluid needed to be flushed, quoted me on a time and price but didn't hassle me about needing to do it immediately

I also asked if they could look underneath and see what was causing the rattling noise I had been hearing. They found it was just a broken piece of plastic hitting the frame, no need to worry about it.

I'll be coming back for sure. Great guys and great work!

This place really likes to sell you hard on everything.  I am very unhappy with my service.

I pulled in yesterday, no waiting and wanted to get the $30 oil change.  My car only has 37,000 miles on it.  They asked for $10 if I wanted to wash out everything and make it all clean because I haven't had the oil changed in a while.  I said sure, no problem.

At the bottom of the car, there was a small leak that I knew about and they mentioned it.  They said it was my radiator that was leaking.  They quoted me $360 for the part and labor.  They also said I needed my transmission fluid flushed and rear differential.   I said ok fine since it had been a while since I had really done much maintenance work on my car.  So I came in expecting a $30 oil change and left with a $620 bill.  At this point I am still rating them at 4 stars due to the hard selling, but no real problems... UNTIL...........

I am walking away and the guy says "Oh yeah by the way that one leak under the car isn't the radiator, it's just the condensation from the air conditioner, but there was a tiny hairline crack in the radiator".  So they replaced my entire radiator thinking that it was leaking, but it was just the air conditioner..... so I have a new radiator for that.... $360 for something else.  I didn't even get a chance to have a rebuttle.   I am so angry beyond belief, and yes the car still leaks at the bottom.  The only positive thing is that I now know that it is due to the air conditioner.... won't be coming back here again.  BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Hmm -- no mention from previous reviewers about major upsell?

I pull in, and the guy goes, oh your car has very high mileage (which I take as a compliment!) -- but then I realize he's trying to sell me on a more expensive oil change.

There's your basic oil change for $36, an "eco" option for $40, and a "high mileage" option for $63 (they definitely push for the pricier options) plus any number of other things they can tell you that you need. He tried to sell me at least a couple of other services. I said no, no, no, no thank you, no for real, don't want it, literally about 6 times, and got out with a tab of $26 (early bird special, $10 off, before 11am). Yes it was in fact super fast, and ended up being quite cheap, but having to dodge the repeated upsell attempts was still annoying.

I went in yesteday (a Tuesday) around 1pm and there was no wait, probably due to the holiday season. Anyway, they were REALLY fast.

Yes, they tried to upsell me but if you know what you want/need going in, it's easy to say no. For example, I took in a hybrid Highlander, for which they recommended synthetic oil - now, you can use synthetic in a hybrid and it will increase mileage between oil changes, and also works better if your engine is required to work through a wide range of temps. But my car didn't have synthetic in it when I brought it in. I declined, also in part to take advantage of their $19.99 holiday special. So know your vehicle and understand your choices. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the upsell to understand what you're buying.

Air filter ($16.99) change plus oil change (holiday special at $19.99), total cost was ~$42. For what their main specialty is (efficient oil changes) they are quick and friendly. I don't feel like I need any perks on top of that, and if I did, I'd go to the dealership for my maintenance.

    Updated - 5/4/2011

    UPDATE:

The day after getting my oil changed here, I noticed a huge oil spot the size of a hula-hoop on my driveway when I backed out.  I took it to ECO Lube to get it checked out. When I got there, the manager decided to have an argument with me over the yelp review I had written him. He said that my wife was either having a bad day, or didn't understand what was going on. He still insisted that he was correct in saying it would void the warranty if I did not use synthetic (which is completely false).

Back to the reason I came back, the dripping oil.  Turns out they did not tighten the drain cap all the way.  They topped it off and tightened the cap, but my driveway still has oil all over it.  THANKS!

    Very Very Very Fast.

No horsing around, they had my car done by the time I exited the vehicle, went in to the bathroom and came out.

I don't know how, Jiffy Lube who claims to be fast makes you sit, they pull your filters, try to sell you on all this useless maintenance.  These guys mentioned it to me on my way out, but they don't interrupt the service by trying to upsell. They took care of business then explained me what else they could do / recommend. I love it.

The shop is solid, they have my business, and the owners are exceptionally nice. It is good to see people who care running businesses, I hate some of the local jiffy lubes who act so pretentious about you coming to their shop, like they are doing you a service by allowing you to buy service from them.

I tended to head straight to Jiffy Lubes because I was lazy, but this place is so much better (thanks Yelp).

    - They're extremely quick, and don't even want you to get out of the car. Woo!
    - You get a free carwash or tire rotation with the service, and the tire rotation is normally ~$15 extra at a JL.
    - They accept JL and other major chain coupons, so the fairly cheap oil change (normally $36) was $5 off with the coupon I showed them on my iPhone.
    - Last but not least, they care about the environment; they apparently don't turn on lights during the day if they don't have to, use all low-energy bulbs, use re-refined oil, and a whole slew of other improvements.

Fast, cheap, ecological... perfect. Highly recommended.

    Got my Green On

    The Oil:
"Re-refine" is the term the owner uses to describe the oil they use. The oil they put into your car is as clean and clear as the "virgin" oil out of a can. I saw it.

Note: According to the owner, he declines using the term 'recycle' because it implies that some percentage is lost in the process. He is keen to get across that NO oil is wasted. Hence he uses the term "re-refined".

    The Service:
They encourage you to observe and comment on their service and the processes they use in handling your car. They show you everything including the condition /color of the oil in your car before they change it. For a modest fee, they will flush out your old oil thoroughly before adding the re-refined oil. I could have opted for the Jiffy Lube-style drain it and fill it model but I wanted to make sure the oil reservoir was clean before the re-refined oil was put in.

My car was serviced immediately and I was in and out within 15 minutes. It would have been less had I opted for the car wash coupon, but I elected to have my tires rotated instead. They checked my levels and filters and refilled them where necessary.

BTW - In some cases, the owner will do pick up and deliver. Just ask.

    The Price:
$40.99 out the door  - I got the oil change service and  the flush service. If I had not gotten the flush service, the bill would have been about $10 less. Had I realized that Eco Lube accepts Jiffy Lube's, Oil Changer's and Speedy lube's coupons, my bill would have been less! I'll remember next time.

Jiffy Lube provides a $5 online coupon but my last visit cost me $58 with the coupon. This service included an up-sell of my AC filter.

    The Business:
This is the second of two Eco Lubes in all of California. The Mountain View facility (on El Camino between Calderon and Castro heading toward Castro) occupies the former Jiffy Lube site before it was closed to consolidate its business at the Miramonte & El Camino site.

In my case, the owner  wanted me to tour their underground bay.
The place is IMMACULATE. They recycle everything they possibly can including packaging, metals, plastics, etc. They don't use paper (except for the bill). They only use washable rags  This is one 'green' business that lives up to the billing.

Eco-Lube will take your old oil. If you are a DYI oil changer, Eco Lube will take your oil. Just drop it off during business hours.

CA has a mandate to go green at every level. In the past month, Mountain View's Mayor and City Council came for a visit to determine if this business was the green solution for the city's fleet of cars. It is possible/probable? that the city and county will be servicing their fleets at Eco Lube in the near future.

This is a green story worth telling and it is only a matter of time before the local papers will be featuring this story.

    Partnerships:
The owner is constantly increasing his partnerships with other green businesses in the area. Currently, he has a partnership with Harv's car wash and is developing similar deals with businesses up and down El Camino.

The benefit to customers is that you get a free car wash at Harv's. I chose to get the free tire rotation instead but next time, I'll opt for the car wash.

    Bottom Line:
I have never gotten out of Jiffy Lube in under 1/2 hr; never gotten to observe what they do to my car; never gotten out of there under $50. Here is the real kicker - Jiffy Lube charges you a oil disposal fee and takes the oil to Kraegen's ultimately for burning (think smog somewhere). Kraegen's gets a fee from the State as well for the disposal of the oil. So we, the consumers, wind up paying twice to get rid of the oil. You figure it out.

I had a great experience at EcoLube last weekend. I passed by it by chance on El Camino when I was on my way to Jiffy Lube and stopped here instead. I also needed to get my transmission fluid changed out (knew that beforehand).

They were super-efficient, explained everything in plain English. There were a number of folks working on my car. They offered me a seat and a bottle of water, and gave me the option of a free car wash or tire rotation.

I'll go back next time I need an oil change for sure. A little pricier than Jiffy Lube, but definitely worth it.

We've had good experiences here and they've changed the oil in both vehicles for a few months now. They do try the upsell, which goes with the territory for oil change places, but they are not nearly as high pressure as most other stores. They are very fast and efficient.

We had them check out our squeaky brakes last time, which they did, but neglected to tell us we had serious wear problems on one of our front tires. I know they're not a tire place, but just as a safety concern they could have let us know. The wear was on the inside of the driver's side tire so not visible except from underneath or when the tired was turned all the way to that side. Perhaps they didn't notice it, but since they were checking the brakes it's hard to believe that.

These guys are great! I usually HATE getting my oil changed but I had such a pleasant experience here (which is weird... who has pleasant experiences at oil change shops, right?)

I went in just for the basic oil change $36 including tax, which comes with a car wash or tire rotation. I opted for the tire rotation since I needed that too :) yay! Two birds with one stone.

They suggested I get new windshield wipers--I do need them, but I'm going to wait to go back in September (and yes, I'm coming back here) to get them right before it rains.

They also told me my brake pad is wearing out and that I'm going to need tires soon. Both things I know, I just don't want to pay for yet. They weren't pushy about me getting either immediately, just said it could be a safety issue and I should try and do it sooner rather than later.

And... they did all this in under 15 minutes! And they were so friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and absolutely amazing. I would go back to them for more than just oil changes.

I got the yelp discount and was charged $28 dollars for the oil change including tax, which is cheap for the area but still expensive in my eyes.

Amazingly efficient - I think there were at least two guys working on my car the whole time.  Also, speaking of time, I'm not even sure if it took the quoted "8 minutes" to complete the service.  I am usually pretty picky about service for my car and I normally do the oil change myself.  However, time was short so I decided to bring my car here and I was very impressed by their attention to detail.  Just to note: they do have eco synthetic oil, though it does cost a bit more as one might expect.

Oh, and I did get $5 off with a Jiffy Lube coupon.

I'm all about the "little guy."  I always think twice about going to the dealer for service for obvious inflation-of-rate reasons, so when I was driving along El Camino Real in need of a first oil change for my new Camry, I decided to stop in here.  I pull up, and they seem super-efficient.  I drive into the work area and let the guy know that I need an oil change--he said no problem, and that I can just sit in my car and wait--it'll just be about 8 minutes.  WOW!!!  I've never been out of an oil-change place in less than 30 minutes, and that's even when there's no line!  My hopes increased.  They started working on the oil change, and then told me that with the newer Toyotas, they use a new type of oil filter, and that it's $10 additional to the regular oil change price.  "Okay," I'm thinking--not like I can say "no" now that you're already draining the oil out of my car...  And since my car "requires" synthetic (I knew that from the get-go), it's already an inflated oil change.  So in about 8 minutes, they had finished my oil change and the total came up to a whopping $75 for the synthetic oil change.  That's nearly double what I paid at other places for synthetic changes.  Yes, I know synthetic is quite a bit more than standard oil, but at most, I paid $50 for synthetic oil changes.  Even with the added $10 for the "special" filter, it should only be $60-ish--surely not $75.  So, whatever, justify it by saying that you can go further on synthetic (blah, blah, blah that's what the mechanic said--don't recall his name).  I drove off--I wasn't upset by any means--satisfied that my car's oil was changed, but keeping in mind to shop around next time I needed the oil changed.

Then over the next few days, I noticed oil puddles under my car while it was parked for a few hours at a time.  Strange...I didn't recall that before I got the oil changed...  At first it didn't seem like much--maybe 1/2 an ounce at a time or so.  I thought it might just be spilled oil dripping down the engine bay--which happens on occasion during a change--but it didn't stop after four or five days, so I took it back to this place to ask them what was going on.  Turns out, the person who was doing the change didn't tighten the oil plug before clearing the car, and my car had leaked--not a dangerous amount of--oil for the past few days.  That is the first experience I've had with a careless mistake at an oil change place that wasn't caught during the final "go-through" process before handing off the car.  Sure, I've had oil plugs stripped by people, but it's always been caught before I drive off.  Never have I been given my car back with an actual oil leak due to the change itself.

Suffice it to say, I'm not going back here.  I don't mind paying good money for good service, but I can't honestly say that the service I got was good.  They may be fast, but in my humble opinion, I'd rather wait 30-45 minutes for a proper oil change, than 8 minutes for a fast, overpriced oil change.  Plus it won't cost nearly $80 to get my oil changed at other places.

I did an oil change on my mother's car last month, didn't tell her, she took her car in and was charged more than $50.0 for an OIL CHANGE. Kevin Phan was a rude and disrespectful manager when trying to resolve the problem. Avoid at all costs.

As an update, my boyfriend took his car here on a weekend to get the oil changed. He is very protective over his car so we stood there and watched as they performed the service. The oil change went ok, but then he was asked if he wanted a car wash or his tires rotated. Since he had been wanting to rotate the tires, he chose that option. The guys working on the car, did not seem to be paying attention and did not tighten the wheels to the manufacturer's specifications because as we drove away, we could hear the tires rolling, as if they were not in balance. Also, when they were done, they had to drive the car off of the platform the car was raised on. They ran over a part that was used to hold the car in place. They could have seriously damaged the car. I was very very disappointed with the service we received, and I don't think that I will be back again.

Great, friendly service.  Kevin, the owner explained the difference between the eco oil and virgin oil (eco oil is just re-filtered virgin oil with some additional additives to bring it back to the American Petroleum Institute (API) spec).

They were efficient doing the oil change on my focus wagon.  I think the price might be on the higher side, but it seems worth it for fast, efficient, competent service.

I went there yesterday, and wish I had known about the YELP discounted rate of $20 instead of paying $36.

I was also not aware of the free car wash, or else I would

My only (small) complaint is that it was only after the oil change was done that I was informed that my car took a special filter which there was a $3 upcharge for.  This hasn't been my experience previously, though I suspect that most shops just charge a flat rate for oil changes and make more or less depending on the car's filter requirements.  Kevin waived the charge for me when I questioned him on this.  I think in general that these sorts of costs should be pre-discussed with a customer PRIOR to doing any work, in this case dropping the oil.

All said, the shop was the cleanest repair facility I have ever seen.  There is a bright, clean waiting area as well with magazines, though the service is so quick you might not have much reading time.

Great guys to deal with and would go back again next time.

Desperately in need of an oil change and didn't want to go to Jiffy Lube. I came here and got an oil change with the first-time yelp discount (just mention yelp) for $22. I went to the lobby to wait while they changed my oil, and barely started flipping through a catalog they had lying around and suddenly, they were finished. Friendly service, and seemingly very knowledgeable. Plus, they are open on Sundays. I will be returning.

Stay away! We did the "Groupon" deal. They over filled the oil by 1.5 quarts. That will hurt your engine over time. No service (vacuum, windows, ect), and a strong enough bad vibe in the air that I should have walked out before I let them touch my wife's car. We spent the extra money and took the car to a Jiffy lube down the street to do it correctly, I did not want to ever let those guys touch my wife's car agian.

Oil change here takes same amount of time as going to Starbucks and getting your venti, extra hot, quad shot, double cupped, decaffinated, soy, vanilla latte.

They were fast. Almost like a race car pit crew in slow motion. Three of them descended on the car and there was a lot of verbal communication between the guys on top and the guy under the car which made things go faster. They could have done it in less than 8 mins if it were for me slowing them down. 1 min for me to debate the virtues of a certain weight of synthetic motor oil versus another. and another 1 min because I brought my own oil filter and the guy had to figure out how to deduct $2 for the oil filter from my bill.

Even with my interruptions, they verbally walked me through each service item (i.e. checking your power steering, looks good, checking radiator, let me top it off, etc). They even verified that they put enough oil in twice, which is two more times than jiffy lube.

Please note that I went on a Friday morning at 10 AM to take advantage of the Early Bird $10 off and i was the only customer at the time. Not sure what the service is like at peak times. They told me they have extra staff at peak hours.

    A.  Tax is included in their pricing, which threw me off when i reviewed the bill, so Eco Lube is less than Jiffy Lube.

    B. Go for the Early Bird special and save $10.

    C. They also offer a re-refined oil. I didn't know what that was so didn't try it. However, i did look it up. Eco Lube offers Unocal 76 Firebird API certified re-refined oil. I'm going to try it next time.

    Very good experience. Highly recommended.

Didn't get five stars 'cause they didn't communicate their "pricing" to me well. They take competitors coupons but... if you use a coupon you don't get the free tire rotation or car wash. I used a $5 coupon but really wanted my tires rotated. I asked about it and they stuttered, after a few minutes I was able to understand they don't DO tire rotations and have no set price for it (the employee said "Maybe $15-$20?"). I had already paid with the coupon, so too late. I told them next time they should let the customer know the options available ahead of time. They were very apologetic etc. Also, if you want the re-refined oil to be environmentally correct, the oil change costs $5 more. Their service was very quick, ~10 minutes and they didn't try and push any add ons. I will definitely go back.

Fast, friendly, courteous and fair price.  I was in and out in 20 minutes.  They changed my oil, shared their recommendations & observations (transmission fluid was getting old & I had a nail in one of my tires), and rotated my tires.  Their speedy service left me plenty of time to complete my errands on a Sunday afternoon.
