I love wandering into unknown, unheard of shops and coming out with the best finds.
I got the cutest necklace and skirt here. They were expensive (think Saks 5th ave. prices), but what the heck.. merry xmas to me. hehe.
The quality of the clothing/accessories are superb and the styles are unique. I doubt I will see anyone else wearing what I just got. =oP
I wouldn't shop here on a normal bases, but I would when I feel like splurging I will def come back for hopefully another good find. -

The name of this store precludes a five star review, but I kind of like Echo Park Independent Co-Op, more manageably known as EPIC. And I have to admit that the only reason the place caught my eye was that I was walking down Sunset and saw the obnoxious sign.
As it turns out, the Co-Op has something to offer to people who live more than a mile away from Echo Park. The space is well designed, with an ample layout and neat racks of clothing set against a backdrop of clean concrete and white. The clothes and accessories are easy to browse. When we dropped in we were greeted by a friendly flamboyant employee who answered any questions with enthusiasm. He was the only person working and seemed to enjoy his job.
All of EPIC's offerings come from locally based designers, and there was a good mix of labels I did and did not recognize. Some of the pieces were indeed designed to appeal to the most annoying people in Echo Park. Elaborate feather headbands, and men's deep Vs, for example. But there were a number of items that I would've wanted in my own wardrobe.
Unfortunately, EPIC's price point is very high considering the consciously crunchy feel. If I wanted to drop over $500 on a dress, I would probably find my way to Barneys. I think the prices are negotiable - when I asked about the price of a necklace, the employee said it was $250 but that he would drop it to $180.
There's a lot to make fun of about EPIC, but it is a cool store once you're inside, and I like the friendly service. I don't think I would shop here regularly because of the prices, but it's a fun browse with an interesting selection and, I suppose, a noble independent co-op purpose. -

I love this store. I want to take the furniture home with me. And while it might be a bit overwhelming at first glance, the staff is super friendly and helpful. As for the clothes, everything they carry is made by L.A. based designers and there's a huge range of stuff from day to day wear to really out there one of a kind pieces for whatever special occasion is coming up next. While it's not cheap, the clothes are good quality so you are definitely getting what you pay for. I've bought a couple of dresses and get compliments every time I wear them.
If you are interested in supporting local designers and local businesses and like to pepper your wardrobe with interesting accessories and quality pieces you should definitely check this place out. -

I had so much fun trying on trying on stuff, even though I ended up not buying anything (nothing right for the occasion I needed it for). Incredible space and atmosphere - very well-manicured, but still edgy! Hosts great parties, I hear, too!
Beautiful clothes, jewelry, bags, whatever you want is here. Some stores come off as schizophrenic with their myriad offerings, but EPIC puts it all together cohesively.
This store is such a joy to visit. I have a few things on my wishlist I will def be going back for. Sooooooo glad to have a place like this in the neighborhood! -

Overly expensive, pretentious shop that belongs somewhere else. Please go away.

E.P.I.C does it's name justice.
They are purveyors of clothing not just beautiful, but locally designed and produced. Actual products still made in the USA?! Edgy and editorial pieces mixed with wearable party frocks in a spacious gallery setting. -

Echo Park Independent Co-op or EPIC has been open about a week. I was attracted to their logo while strolling along Sunset and walked in. The logo is of two rabbits high-fiving (or at least that's what it looks like to me). I thought at first it was a bar just from the sign but was happy to discover this boutique.
They feature clothing and jewelry from local artisans. A lot of cute things including dresses and huge necklaces. A little steep for my wallet but perhaps one day. For instance, a dress I was looking at was over $200.
I did hear one guy say he wished there were more men's stuff. It did look like quite a bit of things for the ladies. Though who would wear the wooden sunglasses? I'm guessing a guy, maybe. -

It's great to see a store that really showcases some talented Los Angeles designers. No store is able to really capture what LA fashion has to offer and it is refreshing that E.P.I.C is able to do that. I love how they support our local talent and the clothes they sell are to die for.
Must check out if you are in the area!
