East Park Community Center is awesome! You can get a $20 punch card and it only cost $2 to work out in the gym. you can take classes for $3 each. I have only taken the Yoga class and its great for beginners but  slow if you have been doing yoga for awhile. The center is very clean and the staff is friendly. Its a great place to work out...you should go!

As far as community centers go this place is the bees knees! After my initial visit the other week, I knew I had to sign up for their monthly membership. There is just no way anyone on the east side cannot take advantage of this place.

It's nice to see tax dollars being used for something that's not only really useful to the community, but also aesthetically pleasing. Within this sleek complex you can find a fitness center which includes free weights, machines, treadmills, stair masters, weight balls, jump ropes, and televisions. Also there is a lap pool which is about 4 lanes wide and appears to be heated. They have an indoor gym which is still sparkly and new. There are a couple community rooms including a classroom. BUT I think the coolest thing that this place offers is the raised track. YES, the building is designed with a indoor aerial 3 lane track, which loops around the gym and the fitness room. 12.5 laps will add up to one mile! It's an awesome space saving design.

Every month the community center releases it's schedule. And like most community centers, they offer after school programs for kids, senior citizens programs, classes like zumba dance, yoga, and water aerobics for relatively small fees. They also have open basketball, indoor soccer, and lap time in the pool. There's a game room with a foosball table, pool table, and ping pong.

SO if you take advantage of their monthly membership you get access to the whole facility without having to sign some long term contract, and fork over cash for a gym that doesn't even have a pool. PLUS every one of the employees I've encountered has been extremely friendly.

I absolutely love this place, and firmly believe community centers can be cool, useful, and effective. East Park is a prime example of this. You'll find me here a heck of a lot.

Finally tried this place out after reading reviews here on Yelp.
I can't bring myself to spend $500-600 dollars a year for a gym membership. So this seemed like a great bet. I live near the West side, but East Park is definitely worth the drive. A clean, family centered facility I'll keep coming back to.
The only downside? The hours are a bit limiting.

Mayor Purcell's plan to revitalize the city via community programs (and improving centers like this one) certainly paid off.  The East Park Community Center is a great place for families, kids, seniors and loners to get some exercise for very little money.

According to the guy at the front desk, membership is about $25 a month, $250 a year or just $2 a day for folks who want to use the fitness room from time to time.  They have aerobics, yoga and dance classes as well as pick-up basketball and volleyball games, and there is almost always someone friendly to chat or exercise with.  The pool is relatively sizable, and you can go there and swim laps for free!  If you live on the East Side, you have to check this place out.  As far as I'm concerned, it trumps the YMCA.  I think it would even be worth a brief commute for West Siders.

I absolutely love this place! "Community" is the operative word in East Park Community Center.  You will see everyone there from homeless people to Nashville musicians, not exaggerating.  I opt for the 10 visits for $20 punch card.  Otherwise, it's $3/visit or there is a monthly option.  Classes are an additional $3 in order to pay the teacher I learned today.  I never have a hard time finding a machine and the fitness room is comfortable, to the point, and clean.  I haven't tried any of the other services they offer as mentioned in the other reviews, but I will soon for sure.  I also love the people at the check in and see the "senior citizens" playing cards in the other room. LIKE!

East Park Community Center is a fabulous place to work out for cheap or for free.  It is a brand new multi-million dollar facility brought to you by former mayor Purcell.  The center includes an indoor track, swimming pool, gym, game room, senior center, art studios and fitness center.  They have yoga, tai-chi, dance, etc. classes for 3 or so dollars.  The fitness room is 2 dollars and just about everything else is free.
Often there is organized games of basketball, volleyball and others.
There is a wing devoted to the arts, but I have not participated in any classes.
On a whole, it's a great place for our community.  I feel very blessed that Nashville gave this back to its people.

YAY for East Park. Cheap membership (get together with 4 of your friends and go in on a Family Membership for $500 total...). People are friendly, hours are decent and plenty of parking.
