I never thought I would write a review about a paint store but in today's world it's refreshing and exciting to talk to an expert when you walk into a shop like this.
These guys are always helpful, Daryl helped me today and inspired me to write in. They aren't about pressure sales they are about providing information and allowing you to make the decision and they have LOADS of information.
Today I was stressed because there was mildew growing on my wall. Daryl talked me through the step-by-step process of stopping the growth and preventing it from showing up again including addressing the cause (my single pane windows). It's possible I may have been able to save a few bucks by going to home depot or buying something online but talking to an expert who likes his job is priceless. Thanks guys! -

Have to say kudos! Helpful, efficient, friendly..I really have to thank Lynda for being there for me every time I zipped down to the store for more paint, supplies, and suggestions on which was most appropriate for each phase of my lengthy project. There are way too many choices and it really felt comfortable to come in with questions and leave with what I needed. BTW, all the crew has been helpful everytime I have been there, but it was meaningful to me to share my project and have the same person help see it through. Thanks Lynda! I am happy with the results.

Excellent service. I'm in the industry so I've been around and these guys are as good as it gets. They are responsive, knowledgeable and honest. It can get quite crowded there at times so be patient. They can match colors, suggest products and give general painting advice. There is usually plenty of parking and they are well stocked with everything you could possibly need.
Matching colors is difficult and sometimes takes a bit of time so be prepared if you don't know your color and need it matched by eye. They are good so often have a lot of colors to do. Sometimes it's best to drop off your sample and come back the following day for your match.
On the other hand, if you know your colors or can pick them out of the samples (which they have many) you'll be out the doors quickly. They are great! -

The East Bay Paint Center features Benjamin Moore paints. Kelly Moore is just across the street. This is where my excellent general contractor (Glen Larson) has purchased much of my paint for various modest home upgrade projects over the years. I also periodically come here on my own for my own painting ideas, touch up (including paint matching), and "fix it" activities.
This place is busy with a dynamic combination of contractors and homeowners. This place is a hub of activity, especially in the morning. As a result, you often have to wait for several minutes. However, they always know you're there and each customer gets the right degree of attention and help for what they need. In particular, I like how they professionally handle my sometimes seemingly clueless questions. -

amazing selection of paint related stuff not to mention the best paint too.
Great service. The tall guy with the large voice even remembered me the next day when I came back for my paint that they matched from this sliver that I scraped off the window sill.
Oh and they get the paint matches right on as well. -

I agree with the previous reviews, EBP is far superior to the competition. I'm a former painting contractor so I am very familiar with almost all of the stores in the east bay, and this was one of the few places I did not dread having to deal with. The owner of the store (yes, he actually works) knew me by name after about my 2nd or 3rd time coming in. The competitors across the street acted like they had never seen me before, even after years of buying there. LOL
The quality of the Benjamin Moore paint is very high too, as mentioned. -

Almost all of their employees are experienced, friendly, and give excellent advice.
The quality of Benjamin-Moore paint is my favorite. When applied with a nice brush, there is nothing like it for coverage, color, and durability. They have modern colors and a historic palette for renovation work or capturing that old look.
I've received a lot of good advice on how to paint, what tools to use, and what sort of finish works best for different rooms and surfaces. I've never been prodded to buy more items or more expensive items than was necessary.
One bad experience that may serve as a warning to you. There's one guy who has done a lot of painting, but seems to have forgotten about why adequate ventilation is important. And there is a language barrier. Anyway he gave us 2 qts instead of 2 gallons, and sold us these shitty rollers that left PINK PUBIC HAIR all over our kitchen ceiling. So learn from my mistake- if you get one of the two schmucks, stall a little bit and ask someone else. -

This is where we buy all of our paint. The only way I could be happier with them is if they were open on sundays. Great selection, helpful staff, & quality paint. What more can you ask for?

I love this place. So friendly, helpful, and organized. The staff is so knowledgable and patient at answering questions. The selection and quality of Benjamin Moore paints is unbelievable. All of my colors covered in one coat with the exception of the white paint (and even at that I was using it to cover a dark wall).
I'd give this place five stars if not for one of their workers. Avoid the man with the braids who works on Saturday mornings. He's cranky, impatient, and terse. I was so shocked at his behavior given that every other staff member I've encountered has been quite magnificent. -

My favorite paint store of all time, and I say this as someone who paints for a living.
The staff are well-informed, professional and really pleasant to do business with. There's none of the sexist attitude that, sadly, pervades so many other paint stores.
They've been amazingly obliging about ordering weird products on a tight deadline.
Everyone in the store knows my name, and that means a lot. -

This is a Benjamin Moore store. The staff seem very knowledeable and competent and look as if they actually enjoy their jobs, even on a Saturday afternoon. V. helpful w selecting paint for a bedroom project. Had to wait for a while and got to observe them working on other customer's requests and unlike other stores, these folks interacted with customers as if they cared!

The East Bay Paint Center is a great local resource for all your paint and painting supply needs. It was a little overwhelming my first time there - the front, circular area is where you place your paint order, and it can sometimes be a flurry of activity. However, the sales associates here are knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful - which is what you want when you don't know whether to go with Benjamin Moore's Aura or Regal, you can't decide which one of the thousands of shades of white you want to paint your walls, or when you have no clue what kind of roller brush to use on textured walls.
They carry Benjamin Moore and Pratt & Lambert paints. I've never tried Pratt & Lambert (pretty colors though), but I have used Benjamin Moore and I will probably never go with another brand again. The Aura line, especially, almost has a brain of its own - knows how to cover evenly and blend.
There is a small parking lot outside the store, which is convenient, since San Pablo is such a busy street. The lot is small, but I've never had a problem finding a space there. -

I love this place. I'm mostly ignorant when it comes to paint, and they have never steered me wrong. I've dealt with several employees on different occasions over the past few years and I've always had excellent service, from just a brush all the way up to a few gallons of paint and a bunch of supplies. They are more than willing to take the time to answer questions and give advice.

This place is great. I did a little project recently and I was in this place all the time. I spoke to so many different people who worked there and everyone of them, without fail, was really polite and very knowledgeable. They offer the most environmentally friendly paints around too, with zero VOCs. Are they the cheapest? No. Are they the best? Yeah. But really, the reason I wanted to YELP this place is because the guys working there are so laid back, helpful, interesting and friendly. Everytime I waited for my paint to be mixed we had great chats. They hooked me up with free tints and gave me great advice that saved me money and cost them sales. 5 stars.

Review from Toni M.
This has been my go-to paint store for years. When we redid our kitchen 20+ years ago, this was where I came to match the stain for the cabinets to the vinyl flooring and the tile for the counter tops. When we painted our house in May after the construction was finished I came here for the paint strips to try to replicate the colors, which I did pretty successfully. Except for the garage door, which is a tad brighter than I wanted. Tam was over the other day and commented on her dislike of the color, which was all the encouragement I needed to talk to Alan about getting the painter back to do it over. The painter is returning Friday or Saturday, so I had to go over to the paint store to see what I could find that was a darker shade. I picked out three sticks, one the color we have and the other two a little darker. I went up to the counter to get some sense of how I would know what I was getting and the young guy (Josh) behind the counter essentially blew me off. I know it's easier to deal w/ painting contractors who know what they want and have the vocabulary to describe it, but there are also inarticulate amateurs who need help. So today Alan and I went back after lunch, paint samples in hand and the unopened quart of paint he'd bought in May. Emma helped me and she was patient and respectful while I struggled to articulate what I wanted. Then she went and analyzed the differences between the two colors, the original and the one closest. They were very close, except the new one had more black and grey in it. Sounds perfect! She mixed it up and showed me a sample and it'll be good. As we waited for the paints to be mixed, we watched the other staff helping other customers, some amateurs like us, others professionals who are well known to them. At least one staff member was fluent in Spanish and was much in demand. We decided to just buy ourselves a gallon and save ourselves another trip. I told Emma about my experience yesterday and she encouraged me to talk to the manager, which I did.
