11 reviews for Eaglewood Resort & Spa
I've had to stay here a week for work for the past two years and both times I was not that impressed. The conference rooms were FREEZING and unfortunately I did not bring a jacket in the middle of summer. And the food was disgusting. We were served buffet style, and most nights I would just eat a small side salad because most everything else was inedible. (Other than the carrot cake and pecan pie, of course). To top it off, one night I was starving and tried to order something else from room service and I was hung up on twice. WTF??
I will say, I had a great view from my room this time though, overlooking the golf course. And there is a game room/bowling alley for something to do.
The golf course looks beautiful, the bocce ball court looks fun, and the style of the resort is nice-FLW prairie style. It rained the enitre stay so I didn't actually get to go outside. The gardens were in bloom with tulips and how can you say anything bad about that?
We used this place for a meeting, and there is a snack bar outside the meeting rooms to load up on coffee or little snacks. I don't see that often at other meetings.
I liked the buffet style meals since I was a part of a group of dietitians. It's almost impossible to please 20 different dietitians, but we all agreed the food wasn't bad.
My colleagues checked out the spa and pool and said it was very nice.
I've been to nicer resorts but this one surprised me so I will give it 4 stars.
In all fairness, I am a person who travels alot for business and stay in many different hotels and resorts. That said - this place was pretty low on the totem pole of places I've had to reside.
My co-worker and I were there for 4 nights and 5 days as we planned an onsite teambuilding event for a company that was having a conference there. It being February and all, the place seemed tiny because you couldn't go outside. But that didn't matter because every single room in the entire place was so drafty that you felt like you were outside the entire time. We had to keep upping the heat just to prevent teeth chattering.
The food was another matter. All meals were served to us buffet style and all meals were also somehow nearly inedible. No matter what we ate, we left the dining room feeling unsatisfied and were hungry within an hour. It seemed like every single item they served came from a can or was prepackaged. The desserts were stale and the omelets tasted like dried rubber cement.
The spa and workout center seemed alright. We worked out almost every day on the cardio equipment, and it was fine. We also tucked into the sauna and hottub, which were of YMCA quality, albeit a YMCA in a very rich town.
The room was nothing special, but they did have Aveda products for face and hair. That in itself was worth an entire star. The overall cost for our stay was astronomical as well.
All-in-all, I would not recommend this place or go there again. Unless it's for work, of course.
Just got back from a wedding at Eaglewood and I have to say, everything was perfect.
The food for the wedding was amazing, not often they get the filet cooked perfectly. Was not dried out and well every wedding I have ever been to the filet is dry.
The staff was wonderful, rooms were clean and comfy.
Only issue, I didn't take along my gofl clubs. The course looked BEAUTIFUL!!
Had the breakfast buffet before leaving on Sun morning and again great food, good service.

Reliably great lunch buffet. Today we tried the restaurant downstairs and sat outside on the patio. Beautiful setting. Jaime the server was very professional and helpful. The club sandwich was tasty and the fries were crunchy and hot. Could not have been any better!
My family and I practically lived here for a week or two prior (and some following) my wedding in the summer of 2006 (Just a side note: we did not get married at Eaglewood or have our reception there, but our room block was there and we had over 100 out of town guests staying there). From the outsiders point of view, the days spent there were probably perfect. We had a bridal spa day, a mens golf outing, a ladies luncheon, a family dinner, and a post-wedding brunch. Some of them went off w/o a hitch, others... not so much. Some were completely wrong, some were flawless. The ones that had problems were handled with politeness and courtesy and we were generously compensated, but still, problems did arise.
The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. My first room, that I shared with a few bridesmaids, was extremely large. Unfortunately, it came complete w/ an awfully foul odor. They quickly moved us to another room and apologized. I believe we got extra free breakfasts out of it, however the second room as not as large.
I spent a lot of time at the spa that week. We did a whole spa day and it was wonderful! Massages, manicures, and pedicures, as well as laying out and swimming in the adjacent pool. Very enjoyable. They brought in lunch and customized drinks for us. Even went out and bought a swimsuit for a bridesmaid who had forgotten hers at her home! Spectacular service. However, I was unsatisfied with my hair and make up the day of the wedding, the trial run through of each was good. Maybe it was just an off day?
I found it hard to give a star rating for Eaglewood. On one hand, we had a lot of expectations and things for them to do. They got everything done that we needed, but they screwed up a lot of things. For example, our post wedding brunch happened the week before the wedding took place (and of course, again after the wedding, as that was not our fault, but their own). There were more negatives, but also many pluses. The bowling alley, the golf, the bars staying open late for us, the super friendly staff were all very accommodating, especially after they messed up our well planned out events.
In the end, I gave them 4/5 stars. I can't give them a 5 because problems were happening. But because the guests didn't know about it, I have to give them a lot of credit. They were responsible and polite, and honestly, if we were to do it over again, though we might have more detailed contracts, we'd still have our wedding events there.

Pretty interesting place if you're between the ages of 20 - 30 and are a hipster...it seems like a lot of older couples and families come here. Not a bad place if you want to get away for the weekend and want a deal.
My boy and I reserved the "Play & Stay" package. For about $160, we got accomodations, cosmic bowling, two free drinks, a pitcher of pop, a free pay per view movie, a pool toy (seriously ridiculous 'cuz neither of us swim but I went for it anyway) and free movies at the pool. That's a pretty neat deal and they have several other packages.
The rooms are pretty big and you get a balcony with your room which is pretty nice. Just make sure you reserve a view of the green or you'll be overlooking the parking lot. You get really basic channels with a few cable channels thrown in. Internet connection is $9.95, which totally sucks. They should have WiFi. It seems that they have a few things to renovate to make it pretty cool.
They have a game room with a few coin op games as well as an air hockey table.
There are plenty of fast food restaurants in the area if you want to go on the cheap.
I got a massage at the spa there and it wasn't anything that great. I'd say hold off on it or go somewhere in Woodfield, which is only a few minutes away. There's a Walmart & Best Buy nearby if you feel like shopping.
All in all, neat experience, kinda interesting, not sure if I would go again but that doesn't mean it's bad.

Just went to a wedding reception here this past Friday. It looks like a pretty tame place to stay. My room overlooked the green and the golf course looked pretty decently sized. The room wasn't bad, it's comparable to a nice Holiday Inn Select. I didn't check out any of the spa services. The receptionist that gave me my rooms had a bit of an attitude though and was not being clear at all when I was trying to get two rooms next to each other. The food at the reception was pretty unique. The cocktail reception service with appetizers and open bar was good. It was all part of an interesting stay in Itasca.

What kind of resort is this? I came here from San Francisco for a convention for work. In California, we have real resorts. This place....not so much.
The work facilities were nice and the snack bar are good for the business people. The rooms are pretty standard, and better than a Holiday Inn, but nothing special. The golf course is good and inexpensive to play, but not that well maintained.
I have no idea why anyone would ever choose to vacation in Itasca, but if you have to come here, it's not terrible, but don't go expecting a lavish resort.
This place claims to be a 4 star resort....but it really is no more than an average 3-star joint.
Maybe I'm just spoiled from living in California.....

Our family has been frequenting this property (up to 4 times per year) for about 6 years. It has changed hands once or twice, but the quality has never faultered. The rooms are spacious and every one has a huge balcony with pleasant view. Enjoy the attentive staff, from front desk to spa personnel.
If you aren't gettin' what you want here....you aren't asking for it.
Spa is expensive, but very professional and high end.
This place has not been fully contructed yet. However, the sign has been place up. And just by the sign, it looks like it's gonna be a pretty cool place!! Can't wait to check it out!!!!
