what more does one need on a summer friday night then some fresh berries, goose eggs, kettle corn, a plate of tamales and a few serenades from an Elvis impersonator? Not much. Oh, best wash it down with a watermelon agua fresca.

Go to the Colorado Wine Company early for their Friday tastings ($15 for 5 glasses of wine, whooozeee!) and then stumble contentedly around this smallish yet lovable Farmer's Market.
Sometimes there is a dude singing Elvis songs. I like this guy.
There is this big buff Russian guy making crepes at one stand. He is my go to guy. He makes 'em sweet, or he makes 'em French and traditional (swiss and ham), and with a belly full of wine and a crepe in hand, I am a happy camper. You also can't go wrong with the buttery roasted corn or the tamales from the tamale vendor.
Balut is available at this farmer's market.
Does YOUR market have the filipino egg of death? No. Pfft. Pansies.

Going to this farmer's market is my new friday post work activity. Stroll up around 6:30, order an Avocado Crepe from the delicious crepe stand pick a spot to sit and grub to the soothing sounds of the Elvis impersonator. Afterwards walk it off and enjoy all the free fruit samples and of course, buy and support your Cali farmers.
Small selection of stalls compared to South Pasadena, but I go for the Huli-Huli chicken. The chicken man is soooooo good that I make special trips just for this chicken. The chicken man has a sign that says Hawaiian-fusion which made me weary, but the chicken is super crispy (almost as if it's been deep fried, but it's not!) and it's really juicy. The sauce that comes on the side is also soooo good and really spicy. I buy the wole chicken and take it home ($10).
Did you know about this? I had been living in Eagle Rock a couple of years before I finally figured out they had a farmers' market. The only reason I found out was cuz i turned down Casper one friday night and could go no further due to a pony ride and Elvis impersonator. No kidding.
The E.R. farmers market is very odd, but also very charming. Here are some of the things you might run into:
* An Elvis impersonator who takes care of business thanks to a
portable karaoke machine
*A Mormon booth complete with white short-sleeved-shirted,
squeaky clean young men handing out those hand outs.
* Pony rides
* A booth with junk apparently salvaged from a dollar store dumpster
- no-name deodorant anyone?
* Very tasty smelling foods spanning the spectrum of goodness.
(BBQ, funnel cakes, kettle corn, deep-fried twinkies!, chinese,
mexican, and more!)
* A massage booth
* Did i mention the food?
* Fresh fruit and veggie stands, of course!
When? Fridays evenings from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Hilarious! We now live very close to Eagle Rock (hurray!) and I brought husband to the farmers market last Friday night There were people dressed up like clowns lip-syncing tunes from the 50s and 60s. Awesome!
Don't forget to pick up a delicious ear of that roasted corn covered in butter! Damn, that's good.
