Not too bad, I'd give it a 3.5 but since I like it-ish I'll put 4 stars.
This place is definitely where you see those Chinese wedding banquets!
Let's get right into and review the important stuff:
Har gow: good! the shrimp wasn't minced up and there were big sized pieces of shrimp. The skin, most important! Not the best I've had but very fresh and on the medium thin side. The skin was almost translucent so it was good. One of my favs.
Shu mai: it was okay, the bf and my sis liked it. I like more shrimp in my sui mai and I love it when they put the masago eggs on top. I don't think they did that here, but the shu mai was definitely fresh and I didn't taste any stinky pork.
Egg custard bun: very good, good custard not overly sweet. Bun was soft and fluffy
Beef Rice Noodle Roll: I liked it! They didn't just have beef, there were water chestnuts and some cilentro. One of the good ones.
Veggies(Chinese broccoli): nothing to complain about, but I don't like how the waitress squeezed all the oyster sauce in one spot :(
Xiao long bao: These were okay, but the mean inside wasn't very smooth with the broth. It was more rough. I don't like how the exterior of the bao gets dry so it was hard to take it off the metal tray, so mine broke and most of the soup came out :(
That's all I can remember while I'm reviewing this, we order too many things to review everything. I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area. A good dim sum place but I hope to venture out and find more during my time in the South Bay!! Cheers dim sum lovers! -

Occasion: Lunch for Mother's Day
What I Had:
Shrimp and pork shaomai
BBQ pork buns
Custard buns
Custard tarts
Shrimp and mushroom dumplings
Shrimp dumplings
Hot and sour soup
Zongzi (sticky rice in bamboo leaf)
Deep fried tofu
Food Review: The shaomai, buns, and dumplings were all up to par, but I should mention that the Zongzi was not. The sticky rice was ill-flavored due to lack of meat in the bamboo leaf wrap: only 1 small wedge of sausage in the middle of all that sticky rice! I am accustomed to having much more eclectic sticky rice with shrimp, chicken, pork, and beef, or at least a couple of these meats dispersed throughout the rice. I'd venture to say that in that respect, Joy Luck Place may have the superior Zongzi.
Service Review: Nothing in particular about the service.
Venue Review: Parking is available at Vallco. The restaurant is huge as with most dim sum venues and is tastefully decorated, but I would say that they have some notable operations management issues. For one, they don't have enough people turning tables quickly enough. We waited for nearly an hour for our 4-person table, but all the while there were at least 5 tables in the giant room at any given time that were empty.
Overall Impression: Slow table turnover and decent dim sum on all counts except the Zongzi. -

The tea is not free! A dollar a person!
Don't know about the restaurant during the weekdays but the dim sum here for Sunday brunch is pretty good. Nice and spacious with lots of seating. The wait was not long on a busy Sunday.
Service was quick; felt like I was bum rushed with food(a good thing).
The standard dim sum dishes were good and decently priced. Dim sum dishes are priced and categorized as: small, medium, large, chef, and premium. Careful of the chefs dishes, those run up to 13 bucks a plate, not worth it! You can get 3-4 small or medium dim sum dishes for the same price !
In the area? Need a dim sum fix? Try this place! -
Review from Kalen K.
I have been here for two wedding receptions and a couple times for lunch. It is a very large restaurant capable of managing multiple events at the same time. For the weddings, obviously they just bring out the food picked out for you and serve it family style. For weekday lunches, they serve from a menu as well as a slighly annoying dim sum crew.
The food is pretty good - nothing extraordinary. They have a large selection of seafood that is still swimming in acquariums. This restuarant made it on to my quest for the perfect steamed fish and they do a pretty good job of this. Again, nothing fancy, just your typical whole fish steamed with soy, ginger, green onions, etc.
If I had a large group of people to entertain and Chinese food/dim sum was the preferred food, I would certainly consider this place. As for a lunch for 2-4 people, I prefer more intimate places. -

Review for dim sum- came with the coworkers at noon on Monday and we were seated promptly. They allowed us to order two different types of tea, which was awesome. The food selection was ok- they had a good variety of dishes on the carts that came by, and you could also order any dishes you didn't see off of their dim sum menu. However, I thought most of the dishes were just so-so. Best dishes were the Fried Taro Balls, Shrimp in Thin Noodle, Chicken Feet, Minced Pork in Fried Puff (something like that.. hard for me to remember the English translation), Gai Lan (Asian Vegetable), Matcha Green Tea Dessert Puff w/Black Sesame Filling. So-so dishes: Har Gow, Shiu Mai (it had that porky taste), Egg Custard Tart, Porridge, Shrimp/Chive Dumpling, Shanghai Dumpling, and Beef Chow Fun (too much beef to chow fun ratio, but the chow fun was pretty good).
Service was good for a dim sum place, since it didn't get as hectic as they normally do on the weekends. Parking was easy since it was empty on a Monday, but you definitely have to park by the mall entrace to Dynasty and not the side that directs you to park by Macy's, otherwise you'll have to walk through half the store to get to the restaurant. Come here for dim sum if you have a craving and are nearby, but my top dim sum spot in the South Bay is still Hong Kong Saigon! -

Can't believe I did not get any "Shiu Mai"!
Not sure if they were pulling some business stunt to keep you sitting around hungry, so that you're left with no choice but with whatever they had.
Every steamer dim sum pusher, did not have any "Shiu Mai". Shocker, no? I mean, Never have I been to dim sum and not have that option. I don't get it.
Also, my Bestie tried to use her Dining Passport credit card for the 20% discount off but it was voided because we had 7 people. Apparently the discount is only up to 6 people.
I even tried to negotiate with the lady that it was for our friend's engagement, and technically we're paying it 6 ways; but to no avail did it work nor did my hair toss, bare shoulders either. boo. -

Delicious! Fresh and well-made food. Very impressed with consistency of their dishes as everything we ordered was equally tasty. No fillers or cheap cornstarch sauces.
Their deep fried whole bone-in chicken was one of the best I've ever had. Typically feared to be dry, but this one was super moist and with a great skin. Much approved.
Fried shrimp balls, salt & pepper fish, jelly fish appetizer, fish maw tofu soup, salt & pepper crab, all great as well. Other favorites would have to be the bok choy with whole shitakes and the steak cubes with scallops (not too different from shaken beef).
Will definitely be back again when in town. -
Review from Andrew K.
The food and service were both outstanding.
We ordered the peking duck dinner set and an additional dish, which turned out to be a TON of food. Loved the peking duck and the peking ribs. Just very excellent flavor and overall quality. The fried salt and pepper sea bass was only so-so; it was a bit bland.
I was astounded by the good service. The waitresses filled up water without me requesting and the wait staff cleaned up a spill at the table immediately without being prompted. Was I really at a Chinese restaurant?!?! Clarification: was I really at a non-whitewashed Chinese restaurant?!?!?
The ambiance was nice as well. Very open and airy, so the noise level was not bad. Too bad Dynasty is stuck in Vallco. Such a depressing, dying mall, with a confusing layout. It took us a while to find the restaurant, and I found it strange that there was no clear sign outside. Move out of Vallco and it might earn the fifth star ;) -
Review from Chanel L.
Not worth the drive from San Francisco. Lucky I was running errands around the area and wanted to try a new dim sum house.
There are tons of workers, but none of them were coordinated. The workers didn't have assigned dim sum carts like most places and most of the carts were PARKED in back, with food in it! It took 5 mins to flag someone to refill the tea with hot water. Was there for almost an hour and didn't get to eat chicken feet nor SIU MAI, which is the basics in dim sum.
Will not be coming back. -
Review from Yum E.
Came by for a dinner banquet the other night. The best way park is to park by Macy's. The restaurant is a little hard to find as their entrance is next to the lower level Macy's entrance.
Throughout the meal, the service was mediocre at best. The waitstaff wasn't super helpful and there was a lot of DIY...which was a surprise at a banquet level...
Started off w/ a BBQ combination platter. The mini roasted pig along with the jelly fish both hit the spot.
The celery stir-fried with shrimp along with the shrimp fried rice, and crispy chicken were all okay. The abalone, shitake mushrooms, and vegetable dish consisted of vegetables that were too big to eat...
The shark fin soup consisted of miniature shark fins which was mediocre. The garlic lobster wasn't super fresh.
The mushrooms with beef along with the green bean dessert were all mediocre.
All in all, a mediocre Chinese restaurant. -

Food is fine, 3stars. Service sucks, hence the lower rating.
AMBIANCE: Crazy hectic. I know Chinese restaurants can feel crazy, but Dynasty seemed more stressful than most. Maybe its because the waiters run around like chickens with their heads cut off (more on that in a bit), or maybe it has something to do with the large number of children running amok (granted, not the restaurant's fault).
SERVICE: Pretty terrible. I've been for both dimsum and dinners, usually earlier to avoid rush hour (~11am weekend dim sum, ~6pm weekend dinner). Despite these supposed quieter periods, service was distinctly lacking, and when it was present, extremely rude/condescending. My mom went up to the front desk to ask for a menu (set menu or otherwise for CNY), and was thoroughly ignored by the hoity-toity girl hostess. When she finally caught her attention and asked for the menus, the girl just gave her a dirty look. Finally my mom flagged down a waitress, who brought her a couple menus. Seriously? It wasn't even a difficult request to fulfill. Oh, also keep an eye out for your dishes-- in the banquet type setting we've had items go missing/never arrive at the table.
FOOD: Mostly on par with other dim sum/Chinese restaurants in the area. A few of the dim sum items missed the mark (char siu bao-- so tiny, and meager char siu filling; siu mai-- rubbery; etc...) but overall there wasn't too much to complain about. Highlights of the dinner menu include the roasted chicken (very juicy, even the white meat), and the sticky rice.
OVERALL: I'll probably return every once in a while for family events (they are easier to book for a group of 20 than anywhere else... a sign perhaps?), but it won't be on my own accord. -
Review from Denise L.
Came here over Lunar weekend, and it was PACKED! Saturday evening, it was popping with wedding parties, and the whole place was so full, when we left, we saw people sitting in the mall, dining in the "courtyard" between Macy's and Dynasty! Luckily, we reserved a room for 11 in advance, and it was really nice having our own room. There was even a karaoke machine and a large screen TV. Holler!
There were only 3 set menus we could choose from, specifically for the Lunar New Year. Only 3 because we had to have a minimum of $400/table. Everything was seafood except a few dishes. Our server, who didn't speak a lick of English, was so accomodating and pleasant.
What really shocked me is how their beer glass fits a Tsing Tao beer PERFECTLY. right below the rim.
We had a cold cut platter of pork, fried pork, and jelly fish. It was good, especially the fried pork skin. Lots of seafood dishes, especially with scallops. There was one with black moss that the adults really enjoyed. Peking duck was superb as usual. The shark fin/crab soup wasn't as good as I remembered it, but maybe because I now know the inhumane way of them obtaining the shark fins. I still had to try it though. My favorite part was the fried shrimp in this delicious pepper sauce. The fried rice with pork at the end was dissapointing. No flavor.
All in all, everyone enjoyed their meal, and we will definitley be back again!Listed in: Perks of Passport Unlimited…

The service is the worst I ever got. I tried to make a reservation by calling like 5 times. The lady was so rude. And then they made a mistake by taking down the wrong day and called me back in the last minute (they kept saying it was me who told the wrong date). I got the worst experience ever by dealing with this kind of service. I will suggest everybody I know not to go there.

This place was packed when I came, so I expected it to be really good. It wasn't. It wasn't bad, either. Pretty average dim sum for a pretty high price. I'm used to paying $20 for two people for dim sum...here, it's about $20 per person.
I would still come back whenever I have a craving though. I kinda miss the hustle and bustle of ladies pushing their dim sum carts and shouting out at each other in loud voices...in a weird way, it makes me feel at home. -

Had lunch here recently. We had a table of 10, so we were able to try the full range of different dim sum dishes. All of it was pretty tasty. Good variety of dishes. Prices were fair. Service was a little weak. Certainly not good enough to earn 4 stars, even though the food was good. On the plus side, there are lots of tables...
It's probably worth a try if you like dim sum. I'll be back for sure. -

Alex A. and I just happened to chance on this dim sum place while we were shopping at the mall. The mall is so shitty, by the way. Dynasty Chinese Seafood Restaurant seemed like a gem in comparison.
The dim sum was pretty decent. They have a good selection of dim sum, but none of it was very phenomenal quality. The non-steamed items had gotten a little cold and stale by the time we ate it, but it was still good. I can't think of anything that was actually very yummy, so I would say that it's a good dim sum experience, but not fantastic.
The restaurant itself isn't very big. We went on a weekend, and there was a line, but there was no wait for 2 people. The staff isn't overly friendly - they just get their job done. I'd come back here. -

-they use table cloth (that's my minimum requirement for a Chinese restaurant)
-lots of parking space (it's common in south bay)
-nice decor (i don't feel squeeze in. at least they don't "add" tables in order to serve more customers) but it'd be extremely noisy when there's a wedding banquet going on!
for dim sum: long long long waiting for a table @weekend. food quality is average (means not bad) they provide my favorite dish "hot sweet tofu" and it ran out really fast, so better wake up early!
for dinner: 1 california crab $180 for 2 ppl (tips incl.) manager came over and gave us her business card marketing about pre-order service for any special seasonal food. smart employee! -
Review from Esther S.
Came here for a dinner event.
Interior/decorations:
average chinese decorations. They had one of those seafood displays but a lot of the fish were dead...
Had dinner in the main ballroom- very big space, sound system was ok.
Service:
average- servers kept using chinese even though most people weren't chinese. For those who were, they asked us to move plates around for them to make room for new plates.
Food:
Not too bad but nothing special either. All the staple chinese banquet food was average. Some of the dishes were a little below average but with 10 different choices everyone was full. -

As I became older, I have become a fan of Chinese banquet food. Good food for a good price, especially if you like seafood. Comparing it to French or western prefix menu, I don't know why I don't indulge in Chinese banquet style more often.
Went to Dynasty on a busy Sat night. Large wedding banquet with a full house (people were eating in the outside mall area). We had a party of 12 in a private room which you can reserve with a very reasonable minimum of $40 per adult and $20 per child. The service was good despite how packed they are. And the food was yummy - cold cuts, shrimp and scallop with snow peas, shark fin soup, abalone with mushroom and greens, lobster, fish, noodles and rice, and dessert. The highlights are: stir fry sticky rice (must try), baked sea bass (a are alternative as we usually have steam whole fish), and green tea mochi fried with black sesame filling (simply awesome). This could be the last time I have shark fin soup. Can't say I'll miss it. -

1 of my family favorite Dim Sum place and also for Chinese fine dining. Dim Sum is great, but a few dishes are always good and consistent here. Pricier than a casual place, but you get what you pay for right?
- Long life noodle with lobster,
- Shark fin soup,
- Spot/sweet prawns fresh and steamed,
- Abalone with mustard green,
- Whole cod steamed with ginger sauce,
- Ginger and onion crab!
Plenty of room for small parties, so convenient and privacy, lot of space, and Dynasty Chinese is 1 of the most popular places for wedding receptions for Vietnamese and Chinese in the Bay Area.Listed in: Food I grow up with!

Review from Jen K.
When the boy asked me to meet him here for lunch one work day, I was surprised to see it was in a mall. Not that that's a bad thing! But I was confused for a bit trying to find it.
It's a good sized place and since were were there on a Tuesday around 1:30 it was pretty empty, so over all we had good service (as far as dim sum joints go). The selection wasn't very diverse though, however I can understand why they wouldn't be pulling out all the stops midweek thought.
The dim sum itself was just average. I've had better, but I've certainly had worse. But if you're craving dim sum and in the area it'll hit the spot, so feel free to give it a try. -
Review from Irene C.
First of all, they have phenomenal sea bass and peking duck... (obligatory one star which yelp forces me to enter)
Just came back from a wedding here, although they had one of the best sea bass and duck that i've had (at a chinese wedding banquet), listen closely now:
This place will never have my return business b/c of their shady ass business practices. Who gets into it with the bride at her own wedding, and starts threatening people on top of that no less... really? That's severely unprofessional. Management here is absolute scum. Just typing this review makes me angry. I'm trying not to write an unintelligible review full of curse words.
This is why you shouldn't come here either if you can help it. Seriously, DO NOT... DO NOT PLAN YOUR WEDDINGS HERE PEOPLE. You're looking at a long road of headaches.
You will find me at R&G lounge stuffing my fat face with crab.
Peace the eff out dy---NASTY. -

Good for weddings, bad for people the day of weddings.
This place is a hot wedding spot because of it's size. They have one huge dining hall, a few private rooms, and also a large floor when you walk in which can be sectioned off for weddings as well. The workers are quick and efficient (if enough workers for the day).
The food is decent Chinese. Nothing TOO special. Of course as the economy is going down, so is the portion size (as the prices stay the same and/or rise). They cook their food well, some more on the salty side. The fish is good. The veggies are good. The seafood is fresh.
The last time we came, there were 3 weddings going on at the same time (already know it's a bad time to come). However, they set up tables outside the restaurant in the mall area. Wow, ghetto enough as it is but people still filled up the seats. First of all, they promised/reserved us a private room but they failed to prepare it. Second, they placed us in the mall area. Third, they failed to adequately set up our table, give us drinks, change our plates, and the food was mediocre. This is all not too shocking since all the weddings were in place, however, a well planned out day would entail more workers at a day like this. There were only 2 people working out in the mall area.
All in all, don't come on a wedding day (which is probably majority of the weekends) AND...well, shoot! It's cupertino! There's so many other good Chinese restaurants in the area!! aka Cupertino village restaurants!!
Dynasty...you were definitely DIE-NASTY that day! -

I came here for the banquet for at least 4 times. Clearly this is a very popular place, esp for the wedding banquet.
They have a good - fast service, food is decent, not great but very decent. but most important cheap....
Their decoration is not my taste and the parking is a bit far and a matter of fact it's a restaurant in the shopping mall. -

We came here with my family for a what seemed like a chinese dinner feast. I can't remember exactly everything we had, but everything we had was amazing. What I can remember though were definitely high points and things you should try.
-PEKING DUCK
Very crispy, I loved the crispiness of the skin. It was also amazingly juicy and tender, and also had the fat there as well to make it taste so good. I'm a huge peking duck fan, and authentic chinese restaurants can rarely mess this up.
-GINGER SCALLION LOBSTER
Pretty good! Juicy, and yummies.
-CORN SOUP
I love corn soup. and they made it perfect.
-some random vegetables
Good service, they always refilled our tea whenever we turned our lid over. Great food. Normal prices you would expect at a restaurant. I'm only giving it 4/5 stars because the food was good, but nothing spectacular or extraordinarily amazingly memorable. It was good for the usual chinese rest selections.
Note - we were there the same day as the Pres. Taiwan First Lady, who was in the back room. I didn't get to see her, but we did see alot of cute asian kids with their swords and outfits going into the back room. -

I had dinner here last night for my Dad's 60th birthday. We had several dishes. among them were:
The combination appetizer platter:
Lobster
Shark Fin Soup
Scallops with broccoli
Seabass
The recurrent theme throughout the meal seemed to be that the food just wasn't hot enough. With the only exception being the appetizer platter, everythig else should have been hot, but instead was lukewarm to warm. Given that the the restaurant wasn't busy with maybe 6-8 tables throughout our time there, there's no reason to not serve hot food. The pacing was also too quick with most of our dishes coming within the first 30 minutes of our meal.
The service other that that was decent, although things did seem slow considering the fact that they were not busy at all. Luckily for our party of 6 the bill only came out to be about $168 without tip. So it wasn't tooo expensive, but still disappointing.
I think this place is good decent maybe even good for dim sum, but for dinner, if this is typical, then I'd rather use a different Chinese restaurant.

Decent variety of dim sum in the south bay. It could get busy so if you are coming in a big group, call or come early. Nice private rooms for small events and family gatherings where it will be less noisy. Dinner is good but can get pricey.

HUGE, pretty average Chinese restaurant, nothing too special. Great for huge groups, especially for dinner. I've been here for dim sum on Saturday lunches and the lines are CRAZY long and it's really crowded (come earlier!), not as great as other places (like Saigon or Koi Palace) but it's good enough for somewhere near Cupertino.
Thought dinner was a bit oily, but that could be because of the dishes we chose. There's nothing else in the mall other than an AMC theater so don't plan on sticking by after your dinner.
Fast and efficient service!

San Francisco, CA
I've been to this restaurant in the past so this is going to be an updated review. I am giving this restaurant 4 star, minus 1 star for a few dirty cups and dishes at our table. The 4 stars go to the food, service, attentiveness and ambiance. I had a really good dinner here last Sunday and it's one of the best. Cupertino and Sunnyvale have their share of jewels, Dynasty ranks highly up there.
Here are the dishes we had:
Westlake Beef Soup - nothing out of the ordinary but nevertheless was tasty and did not contain MSG
BBQ assortment cold platter - Really fresh ingredients such as baby octopus, fresh seaweed, Beef and pork slices. The jelly fish was from some preserved package but the rest of the items on the cold platter were delicious
Walnut Prawns - They gave a decent portion, the actual pieces were not overly drizzled with their mayonnaise sauce. Any place that does not overdo it with the sauce is good in my book
Large scallops over Broccoli - they had some really fat and juicy scallops. I had about 6 of them to myself. I feel guilty for eating so many but no one was touching them so I had to devour them :) Don't hate.
Sliced Duck with Chinese buns - I always liked this dish because they give you the thinly sliced duck meat/ skin with the warm buns so you can create your own duck bun sandwich. Dynasty gave us two choices of sauces, one was some sort of fruit preserve (believe it was loquat) and the other was the regular hoi sin sauce. It was nummy!
Big juicy lobster - Oh my god, this was a fat lobster. Mr. and Ms.Choy hooked it up at this dinner. When I saw that lobster my smile went from ear to ear. It was big, I don't know if it was two lobster or one lobster but there was plenty of pieces and I was very satisfied with the pieces served. I suspect it was one only since there was only one head but the amount of meat just made me question whether if it were one or two? Either way I'm still smiling thinking about the dinner I had last Sunday!
Rock cod Fish - Another delicious and perfectly cooked dish by the chefs at Dynasty. Cooked perfectly meaning it was barely cooked and not overcooked. This is a skill not many places can pull off but Dynasty hooked it up. The rock cod was medium sized but nevertheless great tasting and I think everyone had a enough. Good enough portions.
Broccoli dish - Steamed broccoli, someone at our table wanted some extra vegetables so we got some steamed broccoli. Hey after all that seafood, you do need some fiber to help digest it :)
Orange wedges - Felt like I was in elementary school cafeteria all over again, the wedges were very juicy. I had me a few slices.
Red bean dessert - Pretty much the same as every other Chinese restaurant. They might have had a bit more syrup in theirs but I couldn't tell since I had all these different flavors in my pallet.
Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner at Dynasty with my sister's in-laws, they hooked it up! The service was attentive; the staff removed the dishes as soon as we finished the food on the plate. When we asked for something they came right away. They had an eagerness to take care of us which is a nice change. The restaurant is bright and modern. You wouldn't feel embarrassed if you took someone here. Definitely one of the better dining establishments for Chinese food in the South bay. I didn't pay for the bill but this was a banquet like dinner so I know it was some bucks and it might have also contributed to the good service we received. -

WOW this place is really nice but the food is not great. Service was ok, but the servers looked unhappy and always irritated. The food here is greasy, salty and not that good. The scallop soup was ok but something about it was weird. The sweet and sour sparerib was pretty good but very salty. The bbq cold platter was a winner though, really enjoyed that. Their mushroom bokchoy was pretty good but their scallop and beef dish was bland and greasy. The fried rice is ok. What was disappointing was that their sesame balls had no red bean inside or any filling and their almond cookie was missing the almond!! That lost another star.

Great dim sum, and decent service.
The food here is mostly fresh but the fried rice we got was really cold. That was the only disappointing item. The best dish here was the round tofu cylinders. It was pleasantly sweet and salty and very warm. It made my mouth all warm and gooey (lol).
The wait time isn't long. My family came at 12 and we got seated by 12:30 which I thought was good considering we were more than 10 numbers away from the number they called when we got ours.
The environment here is a lot louder than the other Dynasty. It's smaller and it's slightly more cramped but it feels more intimate and less traffic-y. It doesn't feel like 3 carts are hustling you to pick at the same time. There's something about this Dynasty that even though it's more noisy and crowded, you feel more at ease.
Parking and walking here is annoying but worth it. -

We had my dad's 60th birthday celebration here this past weekend. My (extremely hard to please) mother was so happy with the food, service, and setting that she asked me to write a 5star review on yelp.
We reserved a private room with two tables for 16 people. It was nice to walk through the extremely noisy and crowded main hall (an indicator of a good restaurant) to a quiet, spacious private room. The room was fitted with an HDTV and karaoke system, on which we set up a picture slideshow. The decorations were very stereotypically Chinese, which received the approval of the (numerous) older Chinese relatives, and many pictures were taken. The room was reserved for us for the entire lunch service, so we didn't feel at all rushed. We were told we could arrive whenever, and the food came at a good leisurely pace so we could savor each dish while still hot.
The managers Elka and Liu were quite accommodating. We placed our order ahead of time so we didn't have to juggle ordering while greeting relatives. We were able to order 1.5x the set menu split between the two tables. The only exceptions were things like lobster, crab, and Peking duck, each of which we ordered 1 per table. Even so, there was far too much food to finish and we had plenty of doggy bags. The salt and pepper crab was served piping hot and delicious. The honey smoked cod was also extremely good. I hate the typical steamed fish at Chinese banquets, so this was a very welcome change. The only dishes I wasn't completely satisfied with were the cold plate (mixed meats; the selection felt incomplete) and the noodles.
There was a $15 corkage fee for the champagne we brought; the waitress brought us nice wine glasses for them and managed to divide the one bottle among 15 glasses efficiently. I was very pleased with the chrysanthemum/pu'er tea (jupu cha); I judge Bay Area Chinese restaurants quite harshly by whether they reuse tea leaves or brew a fresh pot for the table.
In the many times I've been here in the past, the dim sum has been quite good. Having a banquet celebration here, however, goes above and beyond typical Bay Area Chinese restaurants, reaching a level I've only felt in big restaurants in Shanghai. -

My boss and his wife invited me here for dinner on a Tuesday evening along with one of my colleagues. The boss wanted dumplings, however they do not serve Dim Sum in the evening, just a traditional Chinese Seafood Restrarant menu. So we ordered several dishes and shared them family style.
Pretty good, but not great. The dishes were typical Chinese faire with nothing to distinguish it from other places. There are much better options in the immediate area, and it is located in a beat up old mall, so I don't think I will go back. -

Dynasty was the first restaurant I visited since I moved to Santa Clara. I was intrigued by their dim sum. My first experience was pleasant. The wait was not too long, food was good, service was OK (expected), price was OK. I would give 3.5 stars for that.
Now the second time I was there was horrible. The wait was not too long (about 10-15 minutes), since there were only three of us. We got a table at the very end of the room. It took so long for the dim sum cart to get into our place. We had har gao, porridge, char siu bao, shumai, and this fried shrimp dumplings with mayonnaise. Most of them were cold and tasteless; not to mention the mayo was nasty (just like regular mayo). Most dim sum place that I've tried had special home-made mayo for their fried dim sum.
We wanted chicken feet (asked about 4 ladies with cart), but they didn't have any!! OMG!
After finished all of our dim sum (and they've cleaned our table), we were waiting for another cart to come since we weren't that full. No one cameeeeee.. So, we just decided to get the check and leave. It took them sssooo looonnggg to bring back the check. Unbelievable! I know the resto was jam packed, but the first time I was there the service was quick.
Definitely won't go to Dynasty again; better go to Newport next time. -
