Good but not great.

Warm (delivery) but not hot.

Affordable but not cheap.

To sum up: they didn't mess anything up, but they didn't do anything to impress me, either.

Dusit did not du it for me.

Still on the search for good Thai delivery in the Mission that is a little cheaper than Osha, I did a little recon on yelp.  So I can't say I wasn't warned, but I do think that I did go in to this with well managed expectations.  (I've quoted before and I'll quote again: "the key to happiness is expectation management")

So we ordered a Pad Kee Mao and a Pad See Ew.  They looked almost identical, but we were able to tell them apart because one was tofu and one was chicken.  Otherwise, they were a pale pile of wide noodles with a little light brown liquid underneath.  There were identical clumps of egg, some veggies...  Unlike most places, they included the vinegar with chilies that I love without us asking.  But maybe it's because they know their noodles taste like nothing?

The food was decently well priced, succeeded in moving me from hungry to not hungry, and arrived in a reasonable amount of time while retaining a reasonable amount of heat.  If your expectations are simply to satisfy hunger in an economical and efficient manner, you will not be disappointed.

If you have expectations of satisfying tastebuds or enjoyment, you may want to adjust your expectations.

Solid performance from Dusit Thai.

Awesome pan-fried noodles but even better fried eggplant -- seriously, try it. Light and fluffy with a hint of sweetness and topped with crispy basil leaves. The one let-down that would not be a big deal for most -- the green papaya salad was only so-so, a little limp and not as zesty as one would hope for.

Overall: lovely, reasonably priced, clean, relaxed. What one would expect from a decent Thai joint -- no disappointments.

lazy labor day, and i was not in the humor to go to the shop or cook.  this is where dusit thai came in and saved the evening.  we ordered the seafood curry.  they did not skimp on the seafood!  i had a bit of everything from the sea: scallops, shrimp, fish, crab, mussels, and squid.  they were generous on the veg in the curry as well.  the fried eggplant with chili sauce and basil was was the star of our dinner, hands down.  yummm!

from now on this is going to be our go-to local thai dine in and delivery.

Surprised this place isn't busier.  I try to eat here once a week for lunch.  Very fresh ingredients masterfully prepared.  Especially like the lamb, masterfully done with cumin.  The owner and wait staff is friendly, too.  Casual and unpretentious but pleasing atmosphere.

Dusit Thai is the best food outside of being in Thailand.  The owners Sonya and Pong take great pride in each dish and Sonya picks up fresh produce, meat and fish daily to ensure that each dish is fresh and flavorful.  Their "special marinated lamb" is the best we have ever had as well as their noodles, seafood, soups and our favoriate lemon grass beef!  It is a great place for a dinner party, it is a great place for kids that love thai food (it is our kids favorite place) and a wonderful place for a special dinner...of course a casual dinner is perfect as well!  We try to go for all special occassions as well as when we are just craving there food...which is weekly!  Wonderful family run and operated business, they offer the best service in the city!  I highly recommend...they are outstanding!

Been here twice and looking forward to the next visit!

Pros:
-I love, love the Dusit noodles:  slightly sweet, but mostly deliciously savory
-Quick service
-Large portions:  each noodle dish is easily two meals, and trust me I eat a lot of freakin noodles in one sitting
-For Thai food, it's pretty inexpensive:  noodle dishes
-Eaten here til closing twice before and I never felt rushed to finish my meal
-Beautifully decorated

Cons:
-I can take A LOT of heat, but holy moly "Thai hot" is F-ing hot!  It was just too damn painful...and hilarious at the same time.

Bottom Line:  I still crave their noodles.  Like right now.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either. Food was incredibly bland and the meat was of poor quality.

I got delivery and it was the worst packaging job ever: they put the Panang Curry (a really watery one btw) in one of those normal boxes instead of SOMETHING THAT HOLDS LIQUID. Thus most of the watery curry sauce was in the bottom of the bag by the time I got it, soaking into all the other boxes.

Then they put piping-hot Pad Kee Mao in some crappy plastic thingy, which instantly melted and cracked and leaked even more stuff all over the bag. I also think I got some melted plastic in my teeth. I'm not sure about other Thai delivery, but there's got to be a better way to do it.

Pad Thai is definitely better flavorwise, although I was impressed with all the veggies that Dusit uses. That's they only thing saving them from one star. That and it was incredibly cheap with big portions. I think I paid $33 to feed five people plus leftovers. You get what you pay for.

I have been checking out the reviews of Dusit Thai and Pad Thai tonight.  I've eaten at both, but long since gave up on Dusit Thai in favor of Pad Thai.  I lived nearby in 2001 and visited both often.  However, after returning from my first trip to Thailand I found Pad Thai to be much better overall.

Just a few days ago I decided to give Dusit Thai another chance (Pad Thai is closed on Wednesdays).  I left feeling really disappointed.  I'm not sure how to be specific.  I love Thai food.  Dusit just falls short.  Bland dishes and poor quality ingredients just leave too much to be desired.

Pad Thai is much more authentic and delicious.  And it's just three or four doors down...

My last week in the Mission, so I'm hitting a few places south of César Chavez before I leave.

My friend and I ordered the green curry and the deep-fried eggplant.  Curry was a little too mild (or bland, depending on POV), though vegetables tasted fresh.  Eggplant with chili and basil was out-of-the-park good - just the right amount of tangy, savory, and sweet.

My two cents on the "authentic" discourse: the menu is actually pretty extensive and has items I haven't seen at many restaurants.  So the interestingness factor I'd have to say works in its favor.  Also in its favor are good prices and friendly service.

In conclusion, Dusit Thai is a cut above the average Thai restaurant.

I just got a delivery, 10 min. faster than they said it would take, of some very yummy thai food! Som Tom, the papaya salad, was the best i have ever had, not too sweet, touch spicy, crunchy! The Garlic Prawns were great, zingy with TONS of garlic and the right amount of black pepper. The deep fried eggplant was good, but greasy- what do you expect of deep fried eggplant- but very nicely seasoned with basil and chili sauce. Tom Yum Pak was very good too!

I will continue to order from them, and will go eat in as well!

Located on mission in bernal heights which i like to coin 'restaurant row' since there is soo many choices in this area of town...and Dusit Thai is a good one.

A good atmosphere to dine in, I had the papaya salad which was tasty but beware of the side sauce that it comes with...very H-O-T! For the main I ordered the ginger chicken which was O-K, but I sampled some of my friends' dishes which was the seafood in some kind  of white curry sauce??? That was good as was the minced chicken dish which for the life of me i can't remember the name, all reasonably priced and the service was spot on.

This is a prime example of the kind of bland Americanized Thai food that passes among people that don't know any better. I've traveled extensively in Thailand and know what I'm talking about. There's a much better place on the same block called Pad Thai that will rock your world. There are several Thai Places in the Mission and Dusit Thai is the worst.  If you are in the Mission on a Wednesday, when Pad Thai is closed, don't settle for Dusit Thai. There's a much better place on 24th between South Vann Ness and Folsom called Chili Lemon Garlic, it's not as good as Pad Thai but much better than Dusit Thai.

The only reason I can figure out about the people on here that like Dusit Thai better than Pad Thai is that they must not like authentic Thai food.

Whoever says Pad Thai is better than Dusit Thai is crazy. The Pad-kee-mao is amazing, as is the duck curry. Oh man. I'm never going back to Pad Thai again. Pad Thai=acceptable...Dusit Thai=YUM! And this concludes my very hung over review of Dusit Thai...hence the eloquence.

Dusit Thai is yummy! And they deliver! Even better.

Their coconut soup is so creamy and tasty and delicious. I usually get their noodles and ask them to make it spicy for me. It was SPICY. The night I went they had just gotten a fresh shipment of chili and it was so strong and wonderful, my mouth was on fire! But I kept eating it up! Even the leftovers are yummy!

As a few other folks have noted here, their pad see ew is WHACK! I discovered this about two years ago and never returned until tonight (boyfriend said I should give them a second chance). So we try it again.

Still not really doing it for me. We had the fried tofu appetizer, a bowl of vegetable tom kar soup, and the eggplant & green bean green curry. The curry was the only passable dish, and the eggplant in it was pretty good, but the tom kar was a weird hodge-podge of random veggies, and the tofu was pretty bland (then again, I don't like tofu).

I have to give it to them on service, though. The service is right on the money, our water glasses never went below half empty. I left a good tip. The food really just wasn't all that good. I can't be going to Thai restaurants where the pad see ew is bad, that just isn't going to work for me!

We were in search of some Pad Thai last night, and saw that the restaurant named Pad Thai was closed, but a few doors down, we found Dusit.  Now, I don't have much of a bench-mark to what good Thai should be, so I will just tell it like it was.

We ordered some Chicken Nuggets for an appetizer, and those were pretty tasty.  They are battered pieces of chicken with a mild sauce and lots of fresh basil.  Very nice.

We ordered two kinds of Pad Thai ... Pad Thai, and Pad ke Mow maybe??  I don't have a menu, but I am sure of the "Mow" part!  Both were good, but not very distinct from one another.

We also ordered Basil Chicken, which was great, but sort of exploded in the bag it came in.  It the box was not enclosed in a plastic bag, sauce would have been all over, but still good.  We also ordered some Garlic Pork, which was also good, just be careful of the bones.  This comes with noodles and salad.

Everything was inhaled at home, so that may be an indication of how good it was.  But I am not too convinced yet.

Simple and nice. Home style.  Nothing too fancy. Love the pad se ew.

One of the soup I had came with American vegetables in it. I asked if it's traditionally like that in. He then gave me a small bowl of the traditional version. He said he wasn't sure if I could handle it. ..Ha. It was strong but good.

The dad and the sons are nice and generous. Talk about the food  and he might share a recipe ~

Why does Thai food suck so hard south of 24th St.?  Dusit Thai only reinforced my sad streak of ordering unsatisfactory thai in and about Outer Mission.

Pad Kee Mao, shrimp = 4 little shrimps coated in egg (apparently dipped in egg batter and thrown into a pot to boil???); no carrots; a light sprinkling of onions and red peppers, a smattering of basil; dry clumpy white noodles....prognosis: yuck!

Pad See Ew, chicken = regular broccoli, not Chinese;  clumps of egg; lots of pasty noodles with hardly any sauce....prognosis: uninspired and bland as all get out

Spring rolls = Chinese egg rolls

Bottomline: not going back

Basic Thai food. Nothing fancy. Just good food. Veggies were fresh and not over cooked. Panang curry was light and not overpowering the fresh basil and tofu. The home made sriracha sauce was a good way to spice it up a notch. Service was very attentive, friendly, and fast. On a Sunday night, not at all crowded. The background music was relaxing, yet strong enough to take the edge off the music coming from the Knockout next door. Extensive vegetarian options are on the menu. Look forward to coming again.

I've been on the phone with The Captain at least 3 times when he's gotten all excited about finding parking right outside his favorite take-out Thai restaurant only to remember that it's because it's Wednesday, the one day they're closed.

So, if you gotta have Thai on Wed and you already have the rock star parking, you might as well walk down to Dusit Thai.   It's not bad.  You won't have to move your car, you won't have to cook and you can hit Pad Thai tomorrow night!

This is a family owned thai restaurant that has an expansive menu (about 100 items).  I was madly craving some pad thai last night so I called to see how late they were open (10pm), perfect. I biked over there and when I walked in the door (by myself) he immediately said, "take out order?" I was content to take out or sit down so that question basically made the decision for me.  I ordered my pad thai and was pleasantly surprised when he brought me some water while I waited for my food!

The portion was large and I have leftovers.

The one drawback was that they didn't have any chopsticks. I love using chopsticks and since I just moved down here, I don't have any in my kitchen.

Would probably go back! Maybe on a date or call ahead for take out now that I know how far it is from my place.

What does a Missionite/Bernalite do on a Wednesday night craving Thai food and Pad Thai is closed? They first start to panic and go through the big debate "Dusit Thai or Bangkok 16"? hmmm....both aren't that great but which one is better?

Dusit Thai is alright. Not great, not terrible...but kind of in between.
I ordered minced chicken with lime and cabbage salad...and the texture tasted like bits of sand and the flavor was overwhelming, not subtle.
Same with the Chicken and Green Beans dish minus the sandy texture. I hesitated ordering my favorite thai dish, yellow curry, cause they make it too sweet...in fact i would say most of their dishes are too sweet, too salty, too sour (kind of like Jasmine Tea House for Chinese)...

Plus portions were so tiny compared to Pad Thai.

So what to do...Bangkok 16 is not that better...so guess we'll just have to just skip Thai on Wed. night. ;-(

Summary: Dusit Thai Dus NOT do it for me.

I had heard decent word-of-mouth on this place, and I can say this: that mouth will not be heard again on the topic of Thai food.

I called in a takeout order last Friday night, and I got nervous when I walked in around 6:30pm to find nobody eating there, and no other to-go orders waiting. I was the only customer there, while the other neighborhood eateries were starting to buzz.

When I got home, I found out why the joint was dead. Tom yum goong was tasty but featured a total of TWO shrimp. Everything else was limp in flavor and ingredient quality, from the pale, overcooked green beans to the gamey chicken in the curry.

Pad Thai just down the block is better, although neither is above average by SF standards.

So. I'm mixed. The sad fact is: I'm lazy. That means that unless i resort to those ads for restaurants that some poor kid rubber banded to my front door, I have a limited amount of places that will deliver thai food to my house. Dusit Thai is one of those places.

Hmmm....well....the good news is, I know for a fact that it is really a restaurant - unlike those other ads that offer delivery where it could be cooked by some old grandmother slaving away for no pay in their ungrateful kids' dump - since I've driven by it and seen it! In color!  The bad news is: it's not terribly good. I mean, it's not terrible. But it's not great either. The green curry was pretty good but the pad thai was awful.  So, that's that. Sorry. Hopefully you are less lazy than me and you'll get your ass down to the tenderloin, risk your life and eat some really good thai or buy some crack. Whichever makes you happiest.

I've eaten here several times with my boyfriend, and we've always had a great experience. The food is delicious, especially anything sauteed with garlic (honestly, even the tofu is delicious!) and their coconut milk soup. I haven't even gotten around to trying any of their curry dishes because they have so many delicious vegetable and tofu options, which is, unfortunately, somewhat rare.
The service has always been great. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and are very attentive without being annoying. The prices are a dream come true. The decor is simple but pleasant and interesting (and my boyfriend recommends Dusit Thai to our friends as "the pretty Thai restaurant on Mission").
The only issue I have is something that I'm not really sure is a problem at all: some of the menu's descriptions of dishes are incomplete, so that when I order a tofu dish, saddened that there aren't any vegetables included, it is almost like a bonus when it comes and there are indeed vegetables (or vice versa).

One of our Thai take-out standby joints.  Fresh ingredients, generous portions and friendly service.  We've tried both Dusit and Pad Thai (a few doors down) many times over the past 3 years and we always prefer Dusit.

It would be completely irresponsible of me, however, to fail to mention the fact that Regent Thai will always prevail as the favorite!  In the one billion times that I have eaten there, they've never disappointed me!  Even still, Dusit is pretty damn good.  Check them out when you're on this side of town.

Dusit is awesome.  We have kids - so we always get delivery, which is usually pretty speedy, and we find it to be fairly cost effective.  They have a Roast Duck curry with Pineapple and Tomato that I absolutely love.  The Tom Kar Kai soup is also fantastic - and we love the Satay and the fried sweet potato appetizer.

Food is OK.  She cooks lunch, he does dinner.  The kids sometimes provide service.   Even the kids have a better attitude than the Pad Thai staff.

Her moo mar kur is the best north of the county line.  His lamb dishes are delectable and pork chops are pretty good, too.  Not a noodle house, which some folks find off-putting (but when have you EVER had a memorable pad thai?   much less pad see ewe?)

But the stars here go to the owners - best relationship with their customers...

About 5 years ago I was living in this part of the Mission with some friends. I'd already been a fanatical Thai food junkie for several years at that point: I know what I'm talking about it.

Anyway, my roommates and I were huge fans of Pad Thai, just up the block. Despite the cheesiest of names-- it's like calling an Italian place "Spaghetti" or a Mexican one "Taco"-- it had some of the best, most lovingly prepared, inexpensive Thai food this side of Patpong Rd.

Our house had some friends in the neighborhood who swore by Dusit. The battle raged for several months until we had to break the Thai Tie with a Thai Off.

Pad Thai won hands down.

I only had the pad kee mow (with Tofu) and it was quite good.  The noodles were the right texture, the spice was tenacious and flavorful, and the veggies were plentiful and fresh.

In fact, I've got leftovers in my fridge right now, and they're callin' me.

Service was prompt and friendly.  I've got to say though, I got a weird feeling from the decor when I walked in -- it kinda looks like the parlor from an old victorian house that hasn't ever been renovated.

Dusit Thai rarely fails me. To-go orders take 10 minutes, the servers and the owner are always super friendly and accommodating, and the food's great. Yeah, their pad see ew does need some work--I go to Pad Thai--for that, but their pad thai is better than Pad Thai's, so go figure. Overall I can't complain, they're my go-to neighborhood Thai restaurant.

Just one quick note: Broccoli and Chinese Broccoli are not the same thing.  They are totally different.  And one goes in my Pad See Ew, and the other does not.  Also, there were peas in my curry.  Green peas.  I mean, I'm no Thai food expert... but this is like the Thai food you make with the leftover frozen veg in your freezer.  It tastes ok, but it isn't anything special.

I was just reading Nicole G's review where she starts with her disclaimer...ha, I have one of those too. MY disclaimer: Third round of Prednisone in three weeks and it's about 2 in the morning of my three weeks almost straight of no sleep...my judgment is off...BUT instead of going on a killing spree I decided I better review dinner. I'm off but, my taster is NOT.
We were trying to go to a different restaurant, but we couldn't get in. So we wandered back down the street to Dusit. I remember saying to my husband that the place didn't look appetizing as we were attempting to get in. The first thing you should know is that the door is not locked...it sticks. Pull hard, really hard and you won't regret it. We fall inside and were greeted by two of the nicest waiters/owners! I'm not talking that fake nice, this was genuine. The place has these plaster walls that makes me think serious old school restaurant...or low health department rating...the food wasn't like that at all...but the food, lemme get to that.
I've eaten a lot of Thai food in my day. And everybody always says their Thai place is the best and they'll practically come to blows over it. I'm a fickle Thai foody, I like to get around to them all. And I've found that a lot of them ARE really good...this is just another one of those!
I started with the obvious, the Tom Yum Kai and OH MY GOD was is good! It was a perfect blend of sweet and hot and really tangy and the chicken was perfect and the tomato and the cousin to ginger the galangal was so fresh and light and I think I could be in love...with a soup?!
My main course was a dish I hope you'll not confuse with a parts-is-parts meal from The BK Lounge across the street or anything...It's called the Chicken Nugget. Despite the name it was so good.  It's chicken fried with chili's and basil, crunchy pan seared basil. I was in heaven. My husband's food was good and I tasted it...but he'll have to write his own damn review!
I'm telling you...try it. If nothing else get that soup, I'd call it life changing if it had put me to sleep, which it clearly did not! So I'll just say it's worth a visit and I hope your experience was as good as mine!
The Prednisone is making ramble...nighty-night

You must try the stuffed, deep fried chicken wings. So good. Everything else: just okay. Cute neighborhood spot, perfect for a weekday meal before a drink at the formerly known as Odeon Bar.
