This place doesnt get the credit it deserves. I would much rather eat pizza here than Luce or about half the other pizza establishments in Uptown that curtail to the girls pants wearing mustache having bicycle riding irony loving fruitcakes that populate the neighborhood heavily.

Lots of regular folk hang here, and probably have since the 1970s. A fair portion of cops too, which can be a slight buzzkill. The pizza is thin crust and greasy, and on the weekends there are usually folk bands playing. The food other than pizza isn't bad, but its nothing amazing either. Go for the pizza for sure.

Nearly 24 hours later, I'm still wondering what to think of this place.
Our server was straight out of  'Mystic Pizza' - (Yes, the PG-13 film version of 'The Facts of Life' that chronicled the complicated lives of three Portuguese-American girls who work in a pizza joint and learn that relationships, like melted cheese, are often messy.) - she even wore a kerchief.

We had one of the specials - the name escapes me now.  It came with cheddar cheese, beef, onion and pickles on thin crust. I can only compare it to that BBQ chicken burrito experience that got me in trouble so many years ago.  Sometimes BBQ sauce doesn't belong in Mexican food.  And sometimes cheeseburgers don't belong on pizza.

Still, I have to admit that since I continue to ruminate on my experience there, it probably means that, cynical or not,  I'd do it again.

Uh, I might be tackling an upstream of opinion here but their pizza is just not anything to write home about.  Sorry.

Dulono's is for pizza. If you are not getting the pizza there, don't bother going.

That said, this pizza is among the best in the city. If you want a nice thin crust delicious pizza for a decent price, this is the place to go. The ingredients are very good, and you can tell they take pride in their pizza.

The service is passable. I think it depends on when you go and who you have for a server. Sometimes the service is great, and sometimes it just downright sucks. It would be nice if they were a little more consistent on the 'good service' side.

On the other hand, delivery service is awesome. Those delivery guys have saved many a night when I craved pizza. They are quick and polite.

So yeah, get the pizza at Dulono's. I've never even tried anything else there, so I couldn't speak to that, but the pizza is worth the money.

ew, oh my god. I was just having some really long rant about how much this place sucks yesterday at work, then all of a sudden, my boss brings in some pizza from here! WEIRD... I think he over heard and wanted to see my reaction to the whole ordeal.

Their pizza is shit.. straight up shit! Greasy as hell, tons, tons, tons of cheese...their toppings taste funky (at least the pepperoni does) and all together, it all just tastes slopped together. If I am going to order a pizza, it will not ever be from here!

A small group us went to Dulano's on Saturday.  We were starving and in need of nourishment (pizza) and beverages from a pitcher (beer). Dulano's delivered in style.  We ordered the Hawaiian and the House Special.  Both were fantastic.  My only complaint about the food was in ordering the Special, we couldn't tell which side was "hold the olives...." I hate those little suckers and they seemed to have taken over the entire pie.  I picked 'em off and got over it; the thin crust goodness was too good to let a few pesky olives ruin.

We were able to grab a table in the back, which was great as we were easily able to converse without having to yell over the live music.  Also, Dulano's is the type of place where you can show up wearing just about anything and feel right at home, which in my book scores major points.

Olives aside, my only complaint of the night was when a woman "with the band" starting awkwardly soliciting each table for money to support bluegrass music.  Lady, I've got a face full of pizza and haven't come up for air.... BACK OFF.

I think I made a mistake. I should have listen to the reviews. Lesson learned.

During a weekend of window washing (which suuucked, btw), hubby as HANGY (thanks Jessica O for the word) and wanted a meatball sub. I thought of all the good reviews on Dulanos and offered to go pick up a couple of subs.

It was my first trip here, and I have to say, I loved the worn down kitsch of this place. I ordered an Italian Beef and a Meatball. Got home and realized they only gave me the Italian Beef. Called, and they graciously apologized, and delivered the meatball.  5 stars for that.

The Italian Beef wasn't very good, simply put. The meatball, while HUGE, was ok, but I thought the meatballs could have had more flavor. So, I went and read the reviews...they are all glowing about the spectacular pizza!! Ahh, if that's only what we had been in the mood for!!! I will definitely go back and update this review once I have had the za....

I am still perplexed by all the rave reviews.  How?  How do people like this place?

How has no one mentioned the bluegrass music? !  Hands down the best thing about Dulono's s the live bluegrass music.  Its just completes the ambiance.

In short: Pizza: delish.  Beer: well, its beer.  Music: Iove it.

I know most people aren't that into bluegrass, but I am telling you there is something oddly sexy about watching a man strum a bass while you are drinking cheap beer.

And if that doesn't float your ship, all the men in Uniform surly will (it IS true, the police love Dulano's)

Bottom Line: Its almost impossible to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night, especially for a group, but it is totally worth it.  The pizza, the beer and the men = totally yummy

When I was growing up, there was a place in the back of my mind.  A place I knew existed out there in the world somewhere, but I couldn't quite specify what would make that place so perfect.  The Dulono's people must have been scanning my dreams.
A place with red vinyl, cheap Newcastle pitchers, and some downright spectacular thin crust pizza.  A place with country music memorabilia and wildlife prints on the walls.  A place that is reminiscent of the stripmall pizza houses I went to as a child, but with a grownup, urban, best kept secret, kind of twist.  A place where they may not know my name, but they're willing to learn my Usual.  A place where on an icy Minnesota winter weekend night I can huddle under the warming glow of live bluegrass on stage, and not have any windows above me to remind me of the elements outside.
This is the safe place I would retreat to throughout my formative years, and now here it is, right down on Lake Street.

The best late-night pizza!  I never used to like thin-crust, but Dulono's is just perfect -- crispy, perfect amount of sauce, and nice little spicy "zing" to it.

Our pizza often arrives a bit on the "cool" side, but we are at the very edge of the delivery area, so I'm not going to fault Dulono's for that... I'm just happy they deliver to us!

This no frills pizza place has been a part of Uptown for longer than I can remember.  Rumor has it Bob Dylan actually refers to it in one of his songs.  Nevertheless Dulono's is great for two reasons (1) its open late, and (2) it has the best flat crust pizza around.

Insiders note: don't worry about the 50 cop cars in the parking lot - it is a police hangout.

Insiders note II: get the pepperoni pizza.  It's spicy

Best Pizza in Minneapolis.  And they deliver late as hell.  They even have live bluegrass on either Wednesday or Thursday, I cant remember.  The house special, which is a meaty, spicy concoction of sausage, pepperoni, various cheeses, green olives and other goodies, is hands down the best pizza available this side of Jersey.

Dulano's is the most fabulous, thin-crust pizza on the planet!  I never liked thin-crust pizza much, until I tried Dulano's. Now, I'm a dedicated thin-crust pizza fan.

My favorite Dulano's pizza is topped with garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, capers, onions, green olives, ground beef, and crispy bacon bits. This type of pizza, is a delight, for an omnivore like me!

They put just enough Mozzarella cheese on their pizzas, to melt nicely  with, but not smother, the other toppings. Their tomato sauce is used sparingly. It tastes sharp, yet flavorful, without being too acidic.

Of course, their pizzas have crusts to-die-for!  That's what really separates Dulano's pizza from their competitors. It's light, almost cracker-thin, yet holds-up well under a mound of toppings. And it manages to be both crisp, and satisfyingly chewy.

I live in California now, and deeply miss Dulano's. For those still living in the Twin Cities, who like thin-crust pizza, Dulano's is the best in town!

Dulono's is soooo good!! There is a reason it has been here for 8 million years, they just do it so well.  That's not to say that you will be wowed by a world class dining experience, because you won't.  Just look at the building!!  But if you want a good solid pizza or spaghetti, look no further.  I am personally of the belief that if cops like it, it must be good.  They cruise around and eat out every day!!
