good food, my mom loves coming here and so do I, of course I love the clam chowder but who wouldn't right?  sometimes I am not a fan of the food, but that is really rare.

I love their blueberry cosmo. yummy!

Sadly Dukes delivers a very basic standard.
I came with high hopes of finding creamy, savory chowder, but alas was let down with rather sub-par bread and flavorless broth of the Northwest Seafood Chowder.  Same applied to my boyfriend's Chipolte Salmon Sandwich. We later requested more of the wasabi mayo and hot sauce to add a little kick to our meals.
Be prepared to pay a pricey meal. Sandwiches run about $15.00 tops.
Ideally I'd just come to kick here for happy hour and basic food.

    This update is embarrassingly overdue.

Since my first review, I've returned here MANY times.  In the recent past, I've moved my office to this neighborhood, and my urge for good chowder never seems to wane.  So, this is a perfect lunch spot for me.

My other review already speaks to the good food.  What I wish to update here is the service.  Superb!  The staff is not only very friendly, but they've gone out of their way to get to know me a bit better, especially now that I'm a regular customer.  They've cheered me up when I've been blue, and I can even tell when they might need a boost themselves.

I also need to mention that Dukes offers coupons for various items like salads, cups of chowder, and appetizers.  All you have to do is fill out a card with your email address and they will send you one of these coupons to print out.  As often as I eat here, this service is quite handy indeed.

    I love it here!

I am definitely a fan of Dukes. Good quality seafood at a reasonable price. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of clam chowder and all of it was fantastic. They also have some of the best tartar sauce I've even had! We were helped by Natalie who was fantastic! It's always enjoyable to have a server who is super nice and attentive.

    Service was HORRIBLE!!
Food is Pricey which is understandable for the location. 2 Arnold Palmers, 1 app, a kids meal,  and 4 lower priced meals. bill was $100.00 to give you an idea.

Had to ask 3 times for our bread. Didn't get refills for our water until our food came out. Then never saw the waiter again until we had to ask for our check.

Ordered the fish and chips with clam chowder. Not sure why people are raving about it. It was mediocre at best. I will say there is lots of clams in it. The sourdough bread that is served before your meal is BOMB. But after that the food wasn't anything special.

Will not return, will not recommend.

On a geocaching trip around Greenlake we decided to stop in for some dinner.  The prices were a bit steep, but the food was worth it.  My sweetie had the chowder sampler and all 5 of them were excellent.  My fish tacos were second to none, and the sourdough bread, despite my gluten allergy, was well worth a slightly upset tummy.  ;-)  Since we had the 115lb Akita with us we elected to sit outside, and the servers were all happy to see Tori lying under the table. They even quenched his thirst with 2 giant bowls of water. We'll be back!

I've lived about 10 blocks from this Duke's location for just about five months now, and as was true with Manna Teriyaki, I stayed away for one purpose... to avoid falling in love with their happy hour menu and chowder all over again.  Alas, I met up with triple D outside of a bowling alley (it was scary but I brought mace) and managed to rekindle the Duke's candle that had been stored away for a long time.

I've always felt that the folks working at the Ruston Way location were so pleasant and outgoing, but this apparently is a fantastic trend that most likely transcends the boundaries of location.  The young woman who greeted me was all smiles and charm, the young woman who served us (the bill says "You were served by _____ " which kinda cracks me up) was patient with Daren's alcoholic noobness, and didn't seem to mind that I was totally in love with her, and honeslty, every employee walking by or standing at the door to enjoy the sun/greet guests were just happy and outgoing.  Plus, Duke's booths are delightful and make me feel like a kid... with a margarita.

Traffic was pretty bad yesterday which prevented D from showing up in time for happy hour, although it turns out where we were sitting didn't technically qualify anyways.  "L" was kind enough to let me order a drink off the happy hour menu anyways, as has always been the case with Duke's - I'm hoping they just do it for me because I'm adorable.  Anyways, we ended up having dinner there and both had fish and chips.  I dropped an extra five spot for the halibut, which was fantastic, and their steak fries/jojos/fat boy tatos are always delicious.

Now that I've "broken the seal" again, I have a feeling I will start rotating happy hours back in, as I can only imagine their prawns and calamari are equally as wonderful as they are on Ruston Way.  *sigh* - lessthanthree Duke's.

** I apologize to any staff I may have embarassed in the writing of this review.

***Duke-  Please pick me to win your 500.00 dollar gift card!  Kthx!

This location of Duke's is close to my house and in the Greenlake area.

I love this location because it has its own parking lot and ample parking out front.

They offer the same food and happy hours as the other locations (3-6pm with chowder, drinks, etc). The deck can be quite enjoyable on a sunny Seattle afternoon.

Definitely have the chowder and cucumber mojito when you come through!

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night and had a fairly good time.

I had the Calamari Steak Strips and the Double Dinghy Chowder Sampler with the Lobster Pernod and the Dungeness Crab & Bourbon.  The calamari was tasty, though I would have preferred the breading to be slightly crispier - it was very soft.  The chowders were both good, but the Lobster Pernod was the clear winner - super creamy and delicious.

I also had the Blueberry Lemon Drop, which was a suuuuper good drink.  Gotta love sugared rims.

My boyfriend had the 3 piece fish and chips.  He said it was fine, but nothing special.  When his plate arrived, I was sort of surprised at the lack of fries he got with the fish.  For over $14 bucks, you should get a few more fries than that!  Either that or make the plate slightly smaller so it didn't seem how obvious his plate was lacking in food.

Prices seemed really high...it was over $5 dollars for my chowder sampler, but there was likely less than 1/2 cup of chowder there total.  We spent over $40 pretty easily.

Our waiter was very nice and checked in on us just often enough.

Overall, we had a good time here, but it probably won't become a regular place for us because it's just so expensive for the amount of food you get.

Duke's has a very good chicken sandwich on the bar menu (and dare I say their bar menu is available on the patio now?)

I've also had a very decent salmon salad here.

As usual, the cocktails will keep me a customer for far longer than the food.

    Things I like about Duke's:

-Happy hour menu: A good selection of $5 specialty cocktails, lovely appetizers and burgers for great prices (yum, tuna wasabi quesadilla and steamer clams!)
-That they have a gluten-free menu
-The grilled Dungeness crab/prawn with Tillamook extra sharp white cheddar sandwich (so many of my favorite things together on sourdough, another of my favorite things)
    - Their beverage menu is fairly extensive
    -Outdoor seating!

    Things I dislike about Duke's:

-It *feels* like you're inside a silly chain restaurant
-That sweet potato fries are on the GF menu with the disclaimer they're cross-contaminated in the cooking process...

    Things I love about Duke's:

    -Nothing.

We went last night for happy hour and I am a fan! We came in a group of 6.  They have happy hour everyday from 3-6 and 9 to close.

The cocktails were $5-6 and we're not talking well-drinks here.  Their specialties like cucumber mojitos were on the menu. Beers and wells were $3 and I believe wine was $4.

I ordered a strawberry lemon drop.  One of the other girls ordered an orange mojito. My lemon drop was great.  I think it was made a little messily because my hands kept getting sticky, but I could feel it after one drink (this was after dinner mind you).  My friend liked her orange mojito as well.  The boys all ordered beers.

Two of the guys ordered burgers.  All their happy hour food was also $5-6 (except bread bowl chowder)! I would have ordered food if I hadn't just eaten dinner because a number of things including the tuna wasabi quesidilla, white prawns and crab dip looked yummy.  I almost ordered a cup of chowder but they only do clam chowder for happy hour which is a minus for me since it has bacon.

I always enjoy our Duke's visits and will definitely have to come back for happy hour food!

I don't like seafood. Any of it. I understand that people think I am a weirdo because I live in Seattle and I don't eat seafood but I am ok with that. So imagine my girlfriend's surprise when I recommended this place.

"But you don't like seafood, Tony."

"Oh don't be silly. I am sure they will have chicken strips or something."

They didn't have chicken strips but they had a fantastic chicken Caesar salad. The chicken had to have been some of the most moist chicken I have ever had and the homemade Caesar dressing was tangy and not too overbearing. A great combination. One thing that I thought was a little weird was that they gave me two tomato slices. I don't really care because I love tomatoes but just never had it in a Caeser salad before. They also didn't provide me with any lemon slices to put on my salad which I usually like to do with Caesar. I didn't notice this until after I finished the salad, which I guess means isn't a big deal.

I thought it was a bit pricey for what it was. This would have been the perfect salad for about $7 or $8 but I thought it was a bit pricey at $11, especially for lunch. I will be here again because it is a tasty salad and a great place to go on Greenlake.

    Zipzap Zubity Bop!

*Update* I just got this message from my girlfriend: "Hey stupid, you forgot to mention the amazing sourdough bread. Geez, you are such a moron!" Yes, the sourdough bread here was freaking amazing. I would like to take that, cut a hole in the top, and put some soup in it and made a dinner out of it.

This place is OFF THE CHARTS FREAKIN' EXPENSIVE for what it is.  The bowl of chowder is 12 bucks!  I asked the guy how big it was, because I fiugured it must be one of those sizes that feeds the whole table, like in a Thai restaraunt.  He couldn't seem to describe it for some reason.  when it came, much to my surprise it was a bowl of freakin' soup.  I'm talking about like a bowl of top ramen.
He brought the food.  I asked for a refill on my lemonade....10 min. later it came.  I asked for tobasco for the chowder.  All you got to do is step into the behind the counter area and grab it.  He brought water to 3 tables.  10 min. later I got the tobasco.  That means that I don't start eating til 10 min. after my food comes.     In the end,, 2 bowls of soup, 1order of butter noodles from the kids menu, a bud light, lemonade, and a dinner salad.
I'm out over 50 bucks.  I had to get up also to find someone to bring me the check.   Teenagers trying to run a restaraunt.

I'm sadly downgrading my review. Not only has the crab club been completely removed from the menu, but my back-up item (the crab and prawn salad) has also been removed completely and has been replaced by this horrible chop style seafood salad that is made with iceberg lettuce, is just DRENCHED in dressing, and contains only the teeniest tiniest shrimp imaginable (well, there was ONE proper prawn on top for garnish). It was gross and makes me sad. I'm guessing the crab bisque is still a winner but it isn't enough to get me through the door again. *sob*

Surprisingly after a romp around Greenlake on rollerblades on what had to be just about the only nice day Seattle has seen so far this summer, we were able to snag a table outside on the deck in two seconds flat.  Can't say I'll be eating there anytime soon but the drink menu looked refreshing and their wine pours are quite large.  Parking is a bitch, though, especially on a nice day.

A gal pal and I stopped in after a long day of paddle boarding. We initially were seated in the dining area but our waitress was happy to let us know we wouldn't make happy hour unless we were in the bar or on the patio and she graciously moved us. We decided to share the wedge salad with perfectly ripe WA grown cherries. Our server was kind enough to let the kitchen know we were sharing and they split it on to two smaller plates for us- big kudos ;) We each ordered a burger off the HHmenu which were the perfect size however slightly under seasoned. Cocktails were stellar and our service was super friendly and accommodating- I trust this is my new neighborhood go-to. I can't wait to try more of the menu!

Came to eat at Duke's on a recommendation of a Seattle local. To be honest, the food was not very spectacular. I had the fish and chips and the award winning chowder. The fish was a bit different in that it was deep fried in panko bread crumbs. The chowder was pretty decent. I noticed on the menu that it's made with all natural ingredients, no additional colors, or flavor enhancers, etc.

I also ordered a bloody mary that came with 2 shrimps and an olive. Meh...it was ok. There wasn't enough alcohol.

    Pros:
    -Service was good
Location is nice (it's right next to the gorgeous Green Lake area...but at the same time it also brings memory of the Green river...eeek....remember the Green River Killer??)

    Cons:
    Food could have been better.

I had Duke's right before I hopped on a plane back home and brought some leftovers on flight. During security check, the guard noticed the food and said it smelled good and that he's not suprised that its from Duke's. I guess Duke's is pretty popular in Seattle :)

    3.5   I round down.

We came here on a Friday night and surprisingly it wasn't that packed.  The patio was full..but plenty of room on the inside.  Initially, I was impressed by the cocktails.  We had a cocktails with grapefruit zest and a hq vodka and it was very pleasing.  Then came the food...

I always get calamari as my appetizer.  That is my go-to.  The calamari was a solid B, but the fact that all of the pieces looked pretty uniform made me question the source of this calamari.  The clam chowdah was pretty good....but a few days later at Ray's..I think I found my fave.   The lady friend had the bourbon and dungeness chowdah and it was far and aways better than the "famous" clam chowder.

The service was meh, the drinks were good , and the halibut and Caesar Salad with crab) were a solid Three stars.   If I'm in the neighborhood and want a few drinks...I'll swing through and get my GQ on...but if I'm hungry and want some great food, I'll keep on driving.

Hmmm. Not sure WtF is up with so many different Yelp! listings for the same location of Duke's but whatever.

Came here on Saturday night for a late dinner/happy hour. I love that their happy hour is everyday, and that they have two. Very convenient.

We got a booth right away (score!) and got to looking at the menu. I ordered the "signature Duketail" Grapefruit cocktail. It is served up (in a martini glass) so I blithely assumed that meant it would be strong. Not really. It was tasty, but I couldn't really taste the alcohol.

We ordered the crab dip (duh) and the quesadilla. Both were excellent. I like that the happy hour crab dip now comes with extra bread (not just the slice that the dip is on). Makes it easier to finish all of the dip with a good ratio of dip:bread.

Service was quick and the bartender was attentive. Its close to home and the food is good. I'll be back, but I might have to switch up my cocktail selection.

Duke's is great simply because of their chowder (the bourbon variety is my favorite). They also have a great happy hour on the deck, which is perfect when it's sunny out. I enjoyed their chicken club sandwich, which had a nice rosemary sauce, along with a blue moon on tap (3.50 during HH) yesterday on the deck. I noticed cocktails are just $5 during HH. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled/disorganized, but the overall atmosphere was great, as everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. This would be a fabulous place to host a birthday party dinner.

Came here for a quick afternoon snack- a bowl of their original clam chowder.  Our friends/hosts much prefer Duke's chowder over Pikes.  It was a bit pricey at $7 but it was really delicious and a much better version than Pikes.  I liked that it came with a huge chunk of sourdough bread (at Pikes you just get the innards of the bread bowls).  Next time when I'm in the area I'm definitely going to stop by for a full meal!

Stopped in for a quick lunch last week. Sat on the patio since it was one of our few nice summer days. I had the crab ceasar salad and it was excellent. All ingredients were  fresh and flavorful. I always have ice tea with lunch and I like plain tea, no sugar or fruity flavors but Duke's only offers sweet tea. The parkings limited too. My salad was excellent so I'll be back to try more of the menu.

My boyfriend and I dropped in for Happy Hour. Everything was delicious- the clam chowder was the best I've ever had, and I come from the Tristate area. In the soup bowl, it was divine. The problem was that the value was terrible: even during happy hour, the soup was $9, and my bf's burger was $5 for a burger about the size of his fist. Despite how good the food was, I don't think we'll be coming back unless we happen to be nearby and looking for quality food, because it's too damned overpriced.

Bluwater Bistro is comparable in price, but I avoid that place like the plague.

Every time I've been to Duke's before (and it's been years) it seemed like it was just so expensive. Good, yes, but who has two thumbs and doesn't want to pay $10 for a bowl of soup? This girl!

But after today, I'm seeing that happy hour might be the way to go. They have quite a selection of specialty drinks like margaritas and mojitos for $4.99, well drinks and draft beers for $2.99, and appetizers and burgers for $4.99.

We got a blackened chicken quesadilla and the crab dip. The portions were small, but we weren't looking to get filled up so that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The quesadilla was good, made with a tortilla that was crispy and had fake orange cheese, like a cheez-it! The crab dip was good, but maybe a bit too heavy on the dip and too light on the bread.

Do you want to know who has two thumbs and will now go back to Dukes often for happy hour? This girl!

Seriously, Duke's? A hundred bucks (BEFORE Tip!) for 3 cups of chowder, a club sandwich, an order of crab cakes and some salmon? Really? It wasn't even very good when all was said and done...upper mediocre at best.

Yeah, you got the view and our server Tim was very nice- but next time we'll walk around the corner to BluWater- better atmosphere, better parking, better food and better prices.

Come down to earth, Duke's and get over yourself.

The rating is for the chowders only. Especially the lobster chowder. MUST GET LOBSTER CHOWDER!
I didn't get to try other things that much, because the friend I went with didn't want to stuff his face. We shared the mahi quesadilla. It was mediocre, wouldn't get that again if I went.

How the hell can you charge $22+ for blackened halibut fish tacos?  It's a chunk of fish, tortilla, cabbage based mix, and salsa.  Right?

I live within 6 blocks of this place and after 6 years I finally went because my friend wanted some chowder on this cold July day.  She probably shouldn't have worn a skirt, but she was feeling full-on, balls-to-the-wall pretty today!

I wasn't starving so I went with a smaller meal. I ordered the Dungeness Crab & Bourbon Chowder with sweet corn and fresh Dungeness crab in a sourdough bread bowl.  Add more than one spoonful of crab next time please. Despite this, I'd get this again. Tasty.  Solid B+

Dessert: warm marion berry mini-pie with cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice cream.  Solid D.  The cinnamon sugar under cut into the taste of the fruit and the pie crust had the consistency of under-cooked thick crust pizza dough. It was an odd shitty dessert.

Service was excellent. The big salmon dinners looked pretty good and ~$25-30 range and their appeared to be a decent wine list.  Reasonable prices on these items imo.

Atmosphere was fine...kinda boring, but that's fine.  TVs are in all the corners ladies...so expect the periodic head-bob during the dinner conversation.

I miss Green Lake Jakes!  Yes, a 1980-early1990s shout out for the old restaurant at this spot. Under a billion sold!  Hmm burgers and fantastic breakfasts.

Oddly enough, I actually prefer to dine at the Duke's in Kent Station.  The tables here seem compact, like I'm dining in traffic!  They are also very tight, enforcing you to be more intimate than you may wish with your dining companions.

I came here to have a small, casual-type meeting with my Boss and Co-worker.  The server continually interrupted us, though it was obvious we were there on business and he joked about how he was being bothersome.  It was one of THE most annoying experiences of my life.  At one point, while I was talking and engulfed in relaying some important info. (basically, I was at the point of the whole reason for having said meeting), he interrupted me to ask me to pass him my dishes which were closer to him than I and not even in his way to pick up!

Honestly, the place was empty save for one other table (who were also having a meeting) and I felt like we were getting rushed out.  We enjoyed the steamed clams, seafood bisque, New England Chowder and the Red Chowder.  All were very delish, as to be expected.

I guess if I'm in or around Greenlake and I feel like getting some sun and eating some good food, I'll stop by and enjoy my fair outside on the patio but I will not ever come here again as a planned type of event.

When I first moved to Seattle, my boyfriend and I used to call this place Puke's. Oh, we were so funny and original. Good times.

Unfortunately, this place is one of the nicer restaurants close to my work, so I go there for business meetings a few times a year. And, since it's on Greenlake, I also meet friends here often during the summer.

I've tried several things on the menu here, but after some disappointments, I now stick with the mahi-mahi tacos. They are actually quite good and come with a nice mango salsa. They are huge, so I typically take home leftovers. The only thing I don't like about them is the sprinkling of cheddar cheese on top. I don't get it.

On to their bar menu: i LOVE the cucumber mojito. Great summertime drink.

Happy Hour: I don't know the rules. You know how some places have happy hour menus that explain everything outright so you know what will be cheaper and what won't be? Well, I don't think Duke's does that. I've never saved any money during their happy hour.

Service: Some people may enjoy the super friendly, hyped up waiter who sits at your table next to you and tries to become your best friend as he takes your drink order. But, I don't. I need my personal space and I don't like sharing my life story with my waiter. If you do, you'll love it here.

Dessert: Try the Butterfinger pie. It's like an ice cream pie with Butterfingers and chocolate and whipped cream, and it's the size of my head.

Just went there tonight for the first time. Service was really poor. Didn't even get offered dessert. We had the Calamari strips, killer wild prawns, and crab dip. The calamari strips were very tender, but the breading was too heavy and didn't allow for any of the flavor of the calamari. The killer wild prawns were served over bread which became soggy, which I am not afraid of. The crab dip was great, but that seems to be easy to do anywhere.
For dinner we shared 3 course dinner dilemma. We had the award winning clam chowder which was amazing, no question. The Caesar salad was really below par, hardly any salad dressing...then we had the 1/2 order of mahi fish tacos. The fish taco was great. Served with blue corn tortilla chips and a sweet but slightly spicy salsa.

Anyway, we had three appetizers and the 3 course dinner thing and it was $50 for both of us. Not too expensive, but not great either. The host was warm, though he could have been the manager. Our server seemed very uninterested in serving us and as if he wanted to get out ASAP. I am a server, so I know how it goes, but to not clear the table and drop the check and not ask if we wanted dessert really pissed me off!
