Delicious, honest food served by some of the friendliest proprietors in SF. Rotisserie chicken is a specialty and a winner, and their happy hour drafts and pours go well with everything. Salads are simple, lightly dressed and very fresh.

    WINNER, WINNER CHICKEN DINNA!!!

My over-the-top frugal Chinese mom would KILLLL MEEE if she found out I spent more than $5 for a rotisserie chicken (Yes, she will run over people with her cart and cut, I mean stand in line for 30+ minutes just for that $5 chicken). Hell, if she knew how much I spent a month on food she would ship my ass to Susy Orman's Young, Fabulous, and Broke bootcamp. SO, SHHHHH!!!

Having a recent disappointing experience at my Goood Frickin' Chicken (my rotisserie chicken stand-by), I was left looking for a new alternative. Enter a Castro gem, Due Drop In. Though they have a full menu to include all day breakfast, salads, soups, wraps and sandwiches, their free-range, 24 hour brined rotisserie chicken is their specialty.

After gymming it last Saturday, I came by Due Drop In for a post-work out lunch. I ordered the Half-Rotisserie Chicken w/ One Side (Red & Green Swiss Chard) http://www.yelp.com/bi... After peeling off the herbaceous slightly blistered chicken skin, I was left with a glistening breast, leg, and thigh. The 24-hour brining process (hydrates the cells of the muscle tissue before cooking) made every part of the well-seasoned chicken mouth-watering and succulently tender. Even more finger licking good than Colonel Sanders' without any of the guilt.

As a carniwhore, learning to eat more veggies can be tough especially one that has a stronger flavor like swiss chard. Seasoned and tossed with olive oil, garlic, nuts and raisins, the swiss chard was surprisingly addictive. The crunchiness of the nuts and the bursts of sweetness from the raisins is what really made this veggie side dish shine.

    Leaving $12.50 broker...

    HI, MOM! *hides in corner*

    OTHER NOTES:
*Part of adjacent Morning Due Café
    *Free WiFi
*Weekend Happy Hour specials (5 PM - 9:30 PM) - $3 drafts and $15 pitchers

Came here because of all the great reviews.  I arrived and nobody was at the cash register so someone from the back sent me around the corner to Morning Due Cafe.  I guess they are the same place - would be helpful if there was a sign or something directing people to the other cafe

The chicken was, on average, good.  The breast meat was very dry, especially for  rotisserie.  The spicing was very good and somewhat novel for rotisserie chicken - I believe it was a classic middle eastern combination of cumin, coriander, and ground cloves.  That was the highlight.

The sides really destroyed the meal though.  I got the swiss chard and the fatoush.  The fatoush was ok.  The chard on the other hand - someone forgot to wash it! So every bite was crunchy, crunch with lots of sand - yummy, right? And that sand got on some of the chicken and on the fatoush etc.  not great.

I'll probably go again, hopefully I won't eat a mouthful of sand though.

I do not know the exact magical spices that they rub onto their rotisserie chicken, but I am a lady who prefers not to eat my meat off of the bone, and this poultry had me sucking on chicken bones!

Oh wait, I just peeped Bill's review and apparently, "The chicken is brined for 24 hours, then marinated and rubbed with a spice mixture that includes ginger, garlic, cilantro, nutmeg, cinnamon and sumac." The nutmeg and cinnamon are definitely the key to this chicken bliss. If I lived close by, I would be adding whole chickens from Due to my shopping list.

I will say the food was not what I expected based on the food category. It is a small spot with only a handful of tables, and the menu is dominated by the chicken (rightly so) with a selection of sides, some are Mediterranean, but others are, well, Mac n Cheese. I had the fatoush, which was solid, and the vegetable ratatouille, also good.

The price was reasonable, downright cheap for San Francisco, and the service was pleasant. Go for the chicken.

Reviewing a one dollar sign restaurant. 5 stars baby! Let me (in the words of Ricky) "essplain" why I am giving this 5 stars.

Location: A block or so to delores. Hello picnic in the park.

Atmosphere: Small space, !BUT! Very well done for what appears to be mostly a take-out place. I like the pillows and the window seating.

Staff: Wow, could you get any nicer?! The guy here was a complete gentleman and had the true middle eastern spirit.  (For all of you who are uncultured and think that this means shouting "allah" or some racially insensitive crap, it doesn't. It means that they are very giving.) We mentioned we were headed to the park and he gave us delicious oranges and some bananas to take with us. How sweet was that?! (Yes, I am middle eastern. We give and give and turn our family into hoarders.)

"ok, ok. Quit trying to educate us on the culture and tell us about the food." Pushy pushy...

So the food was really good especially for the price.

The Mediterranean wrap had moist chicken and great lavash. The pickle was yummy too. I would have liked some more yogurt sauce, but hey, I am Persian. The salad had light dressing, but went well with the chicken pieces that fell out of the wrap.

The rotisserie chicken was also very moist and very well flavored. The hummus was well made. I personally like more of a garlic flavor to my greens, but my friend devoured them. (Good thing she's the one that bought them eh?)

The spinach beet salad was also very tasty and came with bread.

(Yes! We all took bites of each others food)

I will be back! I was happy to pay the price for such wonderful and friendly service. This will be a place to go when the sun is shining over Delores park, or when I want a meal to go. OK, can I eat again now?

Really good place... food was good and huge!

Super cheap also for the quality that you get.

And the owner or manager came up and gave us hints and than talked to us about how they have 2 dining rooms.

Overall a really good place with really good and cheap food!

After breaking a sweat at the 24 Hour Fitness a few blocks down, a friend and I decided to give Due Drop In a try.

Upon walking in, the woman at the counter greeted us and was very friendly. I'm indecisive, so I changed my order a couple of times and she was completely fine with it; she didn't roll her eyes or give me an attitude. My friend is also allergic to a few things and she was very helpful in making sure that those ingredients were not used in his meal.

I ordered the "Camino" which consisted of a chicken quarter (the breast), fatoush salad, two slices of wheat bread, and a side of your choice (macaroni and cheese). The chicken was flavorful and moist, the fatoush salad was delicious (I gobbled it up), the bread was nicely toasted and soft, and the macaroni and cheese was the BEST part! It was much better than the mac n cheeses I've tried at soul food restaurants.

If you're ever in the Castro area, you have to give Due Drop In a try.

I'm kind of sad giving this place only 3 stars because I thought I would've liked it way more than I did. I got a quarter of a chicken (breast)+ the mac n cheese. My boyfriend had chosen the white vs dark meat, but he wasn't impressed with the chicken. Although very nicely flavored (lemonish with a good spice mix), it was pretty dry, although it IS white meat. Next time I'm going to try the dark meat and maybe it'll turn out better? I liked their style of mac n cheese but the half a pint they give you is pretty small... I had to portion myself out to make it last.

I'll come back to try again, and next time I'll get the special, which includes more sides. Big plus - its pretty close to Dolores Park, which makes this perfect for a picnic meal!

The chicken's fabulous and the prices are quite reasonable.  I love their various menu selections--they're all delicious and healthy enough that I can eat here without busting my diet.

As important as the food, at least as far as I'm concerned, are the folks who own the place and work there.  They are friendly.  They're patient.  They're kind.  These are the folks I want to give my money to, and the fact that the food rocks makes it a slam dunk.

P.S.  Even if you're not in the 'hood, they're right on the J Church line and close enough to Dolores Park that you can pick up your vittles and picnic at the DP.

    Me=hardcore carnivore, exclusively for chicken!

This is only a few blocks away from where I spend my Friday nights, only I'm not allowed to bring food, so I come here for lunch.

The first time I came here, I ordered the Due Special, which is the half chicken meal with any side (I got ratatouille), fattoush salad, bread, and a drink (wine, beer, or soda). I was pretty indecisive about everything, and Nizar told me that if I wanted wine or beer, I had to drink it there. I asked if I could substitute my drink in for water, and he gladly said yes. They have three brands of non-carbonated water (Crystal Geyser, Fiji, and something else), and since I asked if I could get a bottle of Fiji. He told me that they normally wouldn't allow that, but he made an exception! (:

Just so you know, my body is sensitive to bad quality stuff, so I treat it to the best stuff when I can!

The chicken was soooo soft, and I couldn't really find any fat, so I went ahead and ate the skin to make up for it. Normally, I'd have to drink a ton of water to dilute the sodium out, but amazingly enough, the chicken had a pleasant flavor and didn't require me to drink bottles of water!

The ratatouille was also delicious, and I dipped my bread into the broth(?). The salad tasted the way it should, healthy, with pieces of pita croutons.

I came a second time and got the Mis-tro (whole chicken, three big sides, two pieces of bread, and two drinks), just for myself. I got the two sides I had gotten before, along with the lime rice. There were different workers, and they weren't up for giving me a Fiji, so I got the Crystal Geyser.

I was able to eat all the sides, but I couldn't finish the chicken. Though I wanted to eat more, my stomach could only take so much..

When I found my chicken stuffed with an onion and a lemon, my friend commented on how professional that was.

I must come back and try the mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and broccoli and cheese soup!

Also, if anyone was wondering, the wait time really isn't long. It seemed like less than ten minutes to me.

Oh! Oh, myyy- I wasn't expecting it to be THAT big!! ... (cue: 'that's what he said')

He being me after I ordered the toasted chicken club wrap for take-out. It was packed with bacon, chicken, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and a really rich and tasty sauce. And oh, my was it so delicious put together.

The pint of Mac-N-Cheese was also scrumptious - topped with some yummy crunchies (I don't know what it was).

Portions here are definitely splittable, perfect for take-out, and reasonably prices. Their sit-down restaurant is around the corner for those looking to enjoy their meal away from home.

My favorite dish should have been the rotisserie chicken. It's their raison d'être. A quarter order was plenty to top my salad, and each marinated bite was spiced to perfection. Delicious, but it was no ratatouille.

Served on the side, their version of this classic veggie stew was superb. So many veggies. So much flavor.

Get the chicken. Absolutely get some ratatouille on the side.

While Due Drop In is intended for take-out, there are a few tables inside, so we decided to eat in. We'd never visited their sister restaurant, Morning Due Cafe, which has the exact same menu and is around the corner, most likely connected through the kitchen. The man behind the counter [who may or may not be the owner] was friendly and welcoming.

We ordered one of the Neighborhood Deals - the Mis-tro : one whole chicken, three sides [hummus, cucumber + yogurt salad, garlic mashed potatoes], two dinner rolls + butter, two sodas. That was plenty for two and probably could have fed another one and a half persons.

The rotisserie chicken was juicy and delicious! It beats the rotisserie chicken at Goood Frickin' Chicken, but still isn't comparable to their open flame chicken.

I'd definitely stop in again for some good rotisserie, but I might check out the sister restaurant for a little sit-down ambiance.

The chicken is simply amazing!  Juicy, tasty and not too pricey.

$40 will feed 4 people, and $9 will feed you with more to spare.

Swung by here on a whim one evening because I heard there was chicken. It was the one blissful night in San Francisco where I could wear a t-shirt without freezing, when the stars were out, and the fog was held at bay. We ordered to go but, upon arriving, decided it was too nice a night to eat at home!

Nizar, the man in charge, let us eat outside and even unpacked all of the to go containers we originally had our food in and brought us plates and served us tableside! Seriously, who does that. The food was delicious: the chicken was moist, the mac&cheese was super cheesy, the ratatouille was delicious, and the salad had some pita chips to add a little zing!

Definitely a new favorite because of the warm atmosphere (people, not place per se), the solid prices, and the tasty food.

L and I ended up at Due Drop In Saturday evening.  It seemed natural, a place that was newly opened, with good Yelp ratings, and half way between our respective adobes.  When we got there at around 7.30, the Due Drop In was completely empty.  Sure, it's a bit off the beaten path, but that's still a bit suspicious.  And when I say empty, I don't just mean of customers, there was no cashier either.  After we stood around for a few minutes, the cashier ran in from outside and took our order.

I got the half a chicken with a side order of the potatoes.  L got the tuna melt, which I simply could not understand, why get a tuna melt at a rotisserie place?  At any rate, we sat down, with my back being pleasantly cushioned by their carefully arranged pillows.  +1 Star for comfortable seating.

The food took a while to come, and when it did, the portion was fairly generous.  Now, in the Mission, I find that Limon has the best roast chicken, and going to Due Drop In did not change my mind.  Their chicken was fine, but not anything overly exciting.  The side of potato was just a tad bit too soggy for me.  Still, I'm not really going to complain, the food filled my stomach pleasantly and it wasn't too expensive.  Still, if you're having a craving for some serious rotisserie chicken, I really do suggest Limon.

The chicken. The friendly staff. The chicken. The hours. The chicken. The proximity. The chicken.

    THE CHICKEN!

I was delighted when this place opened up earlier this year because I am an unabashed bachelorette who also tend to eat all her sugar during the day and by nighttime needs some serious protein. Cooked stuff. So any proprietorship serving stuff I can take home....and open after 9pm....and just 1 block from my house...is HIGHLY advantaged.

Due Drop In is all about the rotisserie chicken - serving it up as platters, in salads, and in wraps. No matter how you eat it, it melts in your mouth. The only drawback here is that the platters can be a bit pricey with the meat and sides a bit lacking on portion size ... I've had a half-chicken and felt po' and underfed afterwards. But the wraps are THE solution: full-on scrumptious yogurt-greens-chicken sounded by the lavash equate rhapsodic heavenly rapture.

The owners are da bomb too: they substitute stuff, get stuff from the "parent' cafe, Morning Due, next door, if you want it (like the coffee I ordered yesterday), and remember your faves (my friend returned tonight and they knew he wanted the club wrap again - recalling it with a smile).

I didn't give 5 stars because as noted, the platters can be a bit pricey for what you get. But everything else is pollo-ific.

There is a small location with a couple of tables on Church and also a much larger one next door at the corner of Church and 17th with the same menu which is where I ate. I read about this place in today's sfgate and had to try it. The article said, in part, that the restaurant specializes in "Mediterranean-style rotisserie chicken. The chicken is brined for 24 hours, then marinated and rubbed with a spice mixture that includes ginger, garlic, cilantro, nutmeg, cinnamon and sumac."
    Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/...
I loved the chicken which was fall off the bone moist and very tasty ($4.99 for 1/4 chicken), nothing like I ever tasted before. All the work they put into preparing, cooking and spicing the chicken really pays off when it comes to taste. Also had the cucumber yogurt salad on the side, that was very crisp, cooling and delicious too.
The people working here are very friendly, it seems like a family run place, and it was super clean. They have a full menu and I will be back to try more of their selections for breakfast (served all day), lunch and dinner. We are lucky to have such a great place in the neighborhood and they deserve our support.

That's what I thought as I entered the doors into Due Drop In.  The menu is vast. There was a lot of good food displayed on the menu.

I ordered the Rotisserie Chicken combination with two side orders of Your Choice!

The 1/2 pint lime rice and 1/2 pint vegetables were my sides.

I'm full right now and about to watch some Monday Night Football.

Due Drop In and order some take out.  You'll be doing you and your family a favor!!!

The rotisserie chicken here is simply amazing, probably some of the best I've had. The cafe is small and cute. I did take-out so can't really comment on the service etc, but my order was ready in 20 minutes and the portions are large for the price. I understand that organic chicken will unlikely ever be as big as the scientifically engineered chickens, but this 1/4 portion seemed like a snack. Fortunately, the sides of ratatouille and mama's potatoes filled the plate nicely. Unfortunately, the chicken was on the dry side, and the meal alone set me back $14 with tip. That's what I get for cheating on my beloved Limón Rotisserie...

Really delicious middle eastern style chicken, wraps, salad, and sides.  And cheap too!  And the owners and staff are super nice.  I'm glad this place opened up near by to pick something up on the way home from work.

The vegan wrap is really quite good - stuffed with grilled veggies, rice, lentils, sauce -- it is one of the few vegan wraps I've ever had that was not suffering from the lack of cheese or meat. (Sorry vegans but most restaurants' vegan offerings are pretty lame!)

It's no Limón Rotisserie, but it might be on par with Roli Roti.  For Castro, it knocks of the socks off of most other take away joints.  Some sides are really great while others are strange pairings with rotisserie chicken.  When the weather picks up, the combos will make a great spontaneous picnic at Dolores Beach.

Rotisserie Chicken: Super juicy and tons of spices.  Brined for 24 hours then slow roasted.  There was even some onion and lemon wedges inside the chicken, a nice secret to keeping it moist while cooking.  Was a real big fan that sumac was used in the spice mix.

Lime Rice: High end fluffy basmati rice with cashews and mustard seeds.  A lot like Indian lemon rice, but with lime.  I could easily make a meal out of this mixed with some chicken pieces for a makeshift biryani.

Mac & Cheese: Saucy like a higher quality Velveeta.  Lacked texture and stringyness.  I saw that the main dish had some crispiness on top, it's a shame the side wasn't just a mini portion of that.

Hummus: The pita that came with the hummus was stale-lish and from a bag.  The hummus was decent, though a tad too pasty.  Probably better to avoid this side.

This is my second visit in the past two weeks, the best rotisserie chicken.  I get the whole bird with two sides.  Always get the Lime Rice and tonight tried the mixed vegetable.  Back to the chicken, nice and moist with lots of good flavors.

The owner Nazar was there on both visits and he remembered me from my first visit.  Going to Due Drop In is like going to a family members house to eat.  Welcomed with open arms.

Got the 1/4 chicken combo. The chicken was great but not hot enough. The mashers were bland and the salad was MEH. I say stick to the chicken and make sure its hot. Very good taste with all the spices. They are trying to do too much here. The menu is way too broad.

Solid place for rotisserie chicken that's mediterranean style. For $13.99, you can get 1/2 chicken plus 2 sides. My favorite sides are the fatoush salad, swiss chard with olive oil and raisins, and cucumber yogurt.

In retrospect I see that others have mentioned this, but I still got confused: Due Drop In is the sister restaurant of Morning Due restaurant; the entrance to the latter is around the corner. It's the same restaurant, but Due Drop In is intended for take-out - it only has two small tables - whereas Morning Due is more of a traditional coffeeshop with plenty of seating.

The reason for my 5-star review is explained in my review of the sister restaurant, but to summarize: great food (especially the rotisserie chicken!), great atmosphere, and free wi-fi which you can tap into from either restaurant.

Veggie wrap with tax = $7.67, plus tip jar. Comes with a very good side salad.

Nice owners. Friendly counter service. Ani DiFranco playing in the background; when was the last time you heard that?

The wrap was tasty. However, with all the cooked ingredients it has, it could have been warmer. Perhaps it needs a sauce, too, for a little kick.

I would like to give 4-1/2 stars, but...  so I'll just round up.

This has become my go-to takeout chicken place.   Still go to Limon for occasional variety, but 80% of the time....  it's Due Drop In.  In fact, after multiple eats at both, I'm feeling DD's chicken more the Limon.

The chicken is really wonderful.   Organic, free range, and deeeeeelicioius.  Star of the show (which is good since that's what they do).  It has a demure middle east sweetness to the rub/marinade, just a hint (very subtle but there).  And, it's not too salty which is... sweet!   The meat is very flavorful and righton.

OK, sides.  We'll start with the bad; really disliked the rattatoui, but that's because I hate bell peppers.  If you like 'em, you'll love this.

Everything else has been at least decent.  The garlic mashed potatoes are my favorite, reeeeeeeeally good (dieters - stay away).  Fatush (sp?) salad is OK, I guess I wish there was some dressing or something to jazz it up (on the SIDE!), but i like the pita "croûtons" and I just put some of my own oil and vinegar.  I would like the chard better w/out the raisins, but I understand where they're coming from (the middle eastern thing) and it's fine, you can't please all the people all the time.

As many have mentioned, the staff are incredibly kind and sweet, and go out of their way to make sure you're happy.  They deserve our firm neighborhood support for sure.

Here are a few secrets, loose lips and all though OK I'm trusting you:

It's not on the drink menu I don't think, but if you're in a pinch and want to buy an entire bottle of wine, it's totally reasonable ($15 for me, dunno what it will be for you, nothing personal)

Note that the size of the sides goes up with the size of the chicken order (took me a few orders to realize this).  You get WAY more sides (volume-wise)  with a whole chicken order then a 1/2 chicken order.

Most importantly, and only for those of you who read my doggerel this far, you can 5-10 min park in the first driveway to the left of the entrance if you are picking up there; the little sign says so.   I consider this a big ol' plus.  Just... don't go abusing it and ruin it for the rest of us k?  I'm removing this paragraph when I feel like it.

Perhaps the best chicken I've ever had (sorry, Mom) and definitely the best chicken to be had in the Mission/Castro region.  I recently had the chicken at Starbelly a few blocks away and with every bite wished I were eating Due Drop In's chicken instead -- not that Starbelly's was bad, but once you've seen Paris...

Due Drop Inn is new and currently doesn't have a big menu, but what they do they do extremely well.  Plus you can eat at one of the outdoor tables, or get the meal to go for a picnic in the park if you like.

I've been going to Due Drop In's sister restaurant, Morning Due, around the corner for eons and have nothing but praise.  Tasty food and friendly staff, plus it's a local, family-owned business.

Do your taste buds a favor and give it a try.

The chicken was tasty. The rice was flavorful. The fact that they have a chard option made me very happy.

If you like Limon Rotisserie, but can't deal with the noise, attitude and wait, you want more side options, and a sense of humor. Go to Due drop in.

If you like Good Frickin' Chicken, and you want more veggie options, and all of the above. Check out Due Drop In.

Despite the fact that I hadn't dropped into the Due Drop In for several months, the very courteous staffer remembered my name - hell, he'd several times before remembered my voice when I called in advance to pick up a rotisserie chicken and side dishes.  The food was hot, fresh and delicious.  Their menu had expanded from what was available just after they'd opened, I guess I was one of their first customers, excited to see a chicken joint so close to home and very pleased with the high quality of the offerings.

I have to admit, the chicken here was so yummy that it inspired me.  After pulling orange and onion slices out of their delicious overnight-marinated birds, I figured I'd try to roast a bird myself - and have become a master hen roaster - which is why they don't see me as much anymore.  But whenever I'm too tired or lazy to prep my own chicken for brining, basting and broiling, I'll definitely call and pickup from them... their lime rice rocks!

It's in the neighborhood and we go for take-out every now and then.  The food is above average and it's convenient.  The service is spotty.  The other night we stopped in just before 9:00 PM and as we entered a surly gal behind the counter shouted "we're closed" in a snotty tone.  Knowing they usually close at 9:30 PM as posted on the window, we asked "are you sure, your sign says 9:30", and she again shouted "we're closed" in her snotty tone.  Go figure!

Talk about GOOD, ORGANIC, FREE RANGE CHICKEN! That is so juicy and full of flavors! I am not a white meat eater since it is usually dry but "Due Drop In" white meat is so juicy and I am able to eat it!
The rice and chard are GOOD but the Mac & Cheese ROCKS!! You can feed a family of 4 for a little over $20 with a whole chicken, 3 sides and bread.
    I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
