**THIS LOCATION IS CLOSED!!**  THE OTHER LOCATION ON FULLERTON AND SOUTHPORT IS STILL OPEN, TO MY KNOWLEDGE.

Food is excellent quality, service was fast. Both this location and the one on Fullerton are family-owned and operated, so there is a very genuine, authentic feel to both the service and the food. Recommended!

Has been my "go-to" Thai place since I moved to Chicago several years ago. I don't even live in Lakeview anymore and I will go out of my way to go to Duck Walk.

Ambiance is decent. Nicer than most places that do a brisk take-out business. They have nice art on the wall and the dining room is usually always filled. However, I think it's weird that they A.) have a tv, and B.) play bizarre things on it, like 1980s Ninja Turtles.

Their food is great. Their basic Chicken Pad Thai is one of my favorites in the city. Their Pineapple Fried Rice is excellent. Pot stickers are pretty good; but skip the crab rangoon. It's not bad, just meh. Their entrees are very large and I always have quite a bit to take home. Essentially I can get two meals out of it. Or at least one meal and a late-night snack.

By the time the weekend rolls around, I just want to hibernate and lay low with lots of food all around me. Lots of food that I didn't cook myself. Curling up to take out with a Harry Potter marathon on- sounds dreamy! I was craving some bad for you borderline greasy asian eats and having been traumatized by the Chinese food way too many times in this city, I decided I'll go with Thai food this time. What did I get?? Chicken pad thai with no bean sprouts and no peanuts, chicken pad see ew, green curry chicken fried rice, mayo shrimp (no cashews please) and the combo appetizer platter.

It's cool they're upfront about the mayo shrimp because that's pretty much it. Just sweetened mayonnaise sauce all over deep fried shrimp. It's a disgustingly good combo- I LOVE honey walnut shrimp. This version was not bad. It's a small portion and beware: the shrimp shell is still on the battered shrimp therefore not the most pleasant chewing experience. The pad thai is a little too sweet for my taste but was passable. The pad see ew was the most disappointing one of all. It was bland and on the dry side. Adding a lot of siracha didn't help much. They also use regular broccoli instead of chinese broccoli. I like mine to be a little saucier and more flavorful. Too bad. Fried rice was alright. Their potstickers are deep fried, I don't like that cuz the whole point of potstickers is that they're pan fried. So it was on the dry side and the sauce that comes with it is way too sweet. Seems like it's just straight up sweet soy sauce. Nasty. I didn't like the baby eggrolls either. It was like eating mediocre mini rolls of meat. Crab rangoons best in the city? You LIE. It's very doughy and they should be called cream cheese rangoons cuz I didn't see no crab, not even the fake stuff. Opart makes a much better rendition.

Really nice people though and the place is teeny tiny. I skimmed through the reviews and I've learned that when people say it's THE BEST in the city or the planet, it's not true and they need to get out more or Thai food must be relatively new to them since moving to Chicago from whatever small town with no asians or maybe 3 walking around because please... I know this must taste pretty wondrous when you're use to eating shitty pizza, your mom's shitty lasagna or tuna casserole and hamburger helper but this was barely mediocre at best. I said barely.

Duck Walk has been one of my favorite thai restaurants since my college days at DePaul. It is a quite small place, but that doesn't affect business. It is sometimes awkward sitting so close to strangers, but you forget that quickly once your food comes out.

Great food at an even greater price. I recently discovered the deliciousness of their bubble tea. Fantastic. My faves are the cucumber salad, pot stickers, tofu pad thai, drunken noodles, and the green curry.

    Yum.

"spicy" is a word on a menu that always makes me nervous as definitions can vary. If you like spicy food, as I do, this is most definitely a middle America definition of spicy.  Meaning, it's not.

The food is inexpensive and the portions are generous.  Sadly nothing new or innovative on the menu.

     Staff is very attentive.

Very small place, in fact the couple next to us was asked to move so their table could be pushed with the adjoining, open table to seat a larger group.  Ambiance can get quite loud for such a small place.

Service was slow even tho it was a quiet Sunday night.

Tom kha soup was bland and uninteresting. Was basically coconut milk right out of the can with some floating chicken pieces and a single tomato slice.

Pad Thai was served with a lemon...The tell tale sign of counterfeit Thai cuisine. It was also boring and tasted like it was dressed with a pure sugar sauce.

This is not a worthwhile investment of time, money or appetite.

2 stars 'cause at least it's cheap.

I love this place. You really can't beat it for convenience (steps from the Belmont Red line; around the corner from the Vic; short walk to Landmark).  Service is always fast and friendly.  And the food is consistently delicious.

Usually I am a curry girl, but at Duck Walk I find it hard to tear myself away from the pad thai with tofu.  You really can't go wrong with this dish here, especially if you make sure to squeeze the provided citrus over everything for a little extra tart freshness.

The most important thing to know about this restaurant though, is that while it is small and intimate, it isn't really a great place for a date. It is, however, a fantastic place for a quick meal with a friend or friends, or even with your boyfriend/girlfriend (maybe before/after a movie, or with dessert plans at Forever Yogurt after, or plans to go to a show at the Vic).  I say this because it isn't really a place that you linger.  You order, chat, eat and go.  They don't rush you or anything like that, but the food is cooked quickly and I'm usually in and out within an hour's time, easy.

I came here with a friend for dinner (on a Groupon) and I have to say I was dissapointed with the food. The service was great but the food was average.

My friend and I ordered pot stickers and fried ham and cheese rolls for our appetizers and I ordered sweet and sour chicken and my friend ordered cashew chicken. The food was good but it was average, I love Thai food and I hope to give this place another shot but I probably won't be choosing Duck Walk as my first choice...Again, the food was NOT bad, I just wasn't impressed.

As always, give this place a shot and see what it does for you!

    *BYOB and yummy bubble tea.

Overall, I think duck walk is a pretty delicious thai restaurant. Nothing special, but it it does quench the craving.

    ...depending on what you order...

I would highly recommend any of the curries (ESPECIALLY the panang curry). They are pretty decently sized but not big enough to split amongst two people if both parties plan to eat a full meal.

Unless you like sweets, the not-so-sour sweetness of the cucumber salad, pad thai and pad see eiw are all the same. I would highly recommend the cucumber salad, but as a warning, if you plan to get pad thai or pad see eiw for the entree, your entire meal will taste the same.

I just tried the pad khee mao and out of all the noodle dishes I've tried, it's the best.

    SIDE NOTE:
The "green tea bubble tea" and "green tea frappe" are apparently the same thing. Also, if you want a bubble drink, Duck Walk's tapioca is HARD - the texture feels more like a chick pea than a soft chewy tapioca.

I would just get the drink without tapioca.

    LAST NOTE:
The bathroom is ghetto but the area where we see and eat is nice.

WHA? 3.5 for Duck Walk? Whos cray cray?

DW is sooo consistently great and yums and goodness etc etc etc

I've had a LOT of Thai here in the city - and no one is as consistent as my little ducky.  EVERYTHING is good.  Its so fresh and saucy and etc etc etc.

I work around the corner and after 4 years I can't seem to stop. Its an addiction. I've got a duck problem..

Small. Quaint. Perfect friend, friend get together place. Even if you have no friends like me, you can still eat here!!

Date night? Eh maybe a little casual, but BYOB if you want to cheaply get your lady friend Bizzoinked. You shameful man.

    Eat here.

This is your typical, run-of-the-mill Thai place. It was actually much smaller than I was expecting (dining capacity around 24 people). The only thing special here is the Tom Kha soup. I'm sad to report that it rivals that of Satay. The bonus is that it's only $3.95! Gosh, I wish I lived closer to this Tom Kha.

    We also ordered:
Combo Platter w/ Crab Rangoon, Pot Stickers, and Baby Eggrolls ($6.50)
    Yellow Curry Chicken ($7.75)
    Thai Fried Rice ($8.25)
    Mayo Shrimp ($8.50)

All were decent, but didn't hold a candle to the Tom Kha. The service was really good -- our waters were constantly refilled. I think I'm going to stick with Spoon for now for my Thai cravings.....

Duck Walk is definitely the best Thai spot in the neighborhood.  The food is always fresh -- even when ordering 15 minutes before closing -- and less greasy than a lot of its peers.  Seriously, the vegetables actually have some crisp to them and aren't soggy with oil.

It's not 5 star dining and perhaps it's not the world's most authentic, but if you're looking for noodles that are fresh, delicious and cheap, Duck Walk can't be beat in Lakeview.

I am giving this restaurant a 1 star solely for their service. Their food was absolutely horrible! I don't think I have ever said that about a restaurant before, but really, we didn't even finish half of our meal. Everything there was so sweet. If you are looking for authentic Thai cuisine, don't go here. Thai Pastry in uptown is so much better.

Headline: Food was better this time; service was a bit funny.

I'm glad to report the Christmas decorations have finally been taken down. I'm also glad to report that this experience at Duck Walk was better than the last and their getting pretty close to 4 stars.

We had the vegetable eggs rolls again (a winner) and some tofu pineapple fried rice (much better than last time--not too salty). In addition we started with a couple Thai tea bubble lattes; these were sooo good except the pearls were far under cooked--too hard. Along with the app and fried rice, we tried some sweet and sour chicken which wasn't half bad.

While Duck Walk's food was a much better experience than a couple months ago, I must say that I'm a little concerned with their staff. Everyone was very nice, but I had a lot of difficulty communicating with them since they didn't speak very much English. They still got my order right, but it took us a while to submit our order and we had an issue with the bill at the end that was tricky to sort out. This doesn't bother me much since I'm very patient, but I could see that some customers might be turned off by it.

Anyway, I definitely recommend Duck Walk!

I've ordered food from here before and its decent  at best.  Today 19APR2011 I tried to place an order over the phone and I kept being sent to their voicemail which was full (probably from angry customers trying to order food). When I finally got through the guy that took my order was EXCEPTIONALLY RUDE I had to repeat my order countless times and when I asked for the total of my order he kept asking me for my credit card number, he did this twice before he let out a loud sigh and told me to hold for a total.  Once he came back and gave me a total I tried to ask him a question about my order. Twice he cut me off and then he said "Thank You" and hung up on me.  In conclusion the food at DUCK WALK is NOT THAT GOOD to put up with HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I will not be ordering from here EVER AGAIN!!!

    UPDATE:

It is now 9:55 pm a whole HOUR and 32 minutes since I placed my order on 19APR2011.  The EXCEPTIONALLY RUDE guy that took my order wrote down my address INCORRECTLY.  Therefore the delivery guy had no clue as to where to deliver my food.  When I called DUCK WALK to cancel my order and get my money refunded they offered me 20% off my bill.  I kindly refused their offer and asked for a full refund back on my credit card.  I was then placed on hold by the EXCEPTIONALLY RUDE guy yet again.  He came back 3 minutes later and offered me 50% off my bill, once again I refused and asked for a full refund.  Once again I was put on hold for about 5 minutes this time and a lady picked up the phone apologized and offered me another discount which I turned down...Finally she said that she would refund my credit card in full and hung up...

Ughhh, Duck Walk! Sometimes I want AUTHENTIC food. Real, tasty, delicious home cooking from whatever country or region the establishment I'm in claims to be from.

Other times, I want Duck Walk. It's cheap and utterly delicious and a far cry from real Thai but it's so good. The portions are great and the food is solid every time I go, no matter what I order, and the bubble tea lattes are amazing.

I could live on their Tom Kha. Forever. Literally. I love it so much, it's ridiculous.

My only complaint about Duck Walk is that the food lacks spice, but they have chili sauce on the table and I use that glorious fact to my advantage. I dump spoonfuls of the stuff into my soup, my curry, my noodles... anything. But I love hot food so YMMV. The only thing I don't put it on/in is my drink. But I might if someone dared me. I digress.

This location is a grungier, smaller, less classy seeming. But it also came first, so I think there's the simple truth that restaurants lose a little of their shine with time. That doesn't mean the food isn't delicious. I don't eat in here as often as I do the other location, but I order from here pretty regularly and the food is always stellar. See my other review for the original location.

Three words : Goeey See Me.

    You won't regret it.
The portions here are also larger & more filling than their Lincoln Park location. The wait staff is always on point with filling water and my bill for two people is never over $20. I'd come more often if the parking wasn't as difficult and if I was in delivery range.

I love Duck Walk. I will debate with anyone that is hands down one of the best Thai restaurants in this city.

They are quick to deliver whether you dine in, carry out, or order delivery. They are consistent and are BYOB (if you're dining in)!!!

I particularly like this location due to the staff. They are very sweet and on top of it. They have the best crab rangoon and Pad Thai on the planet. And I love their appetizer and entree lunch special for $6.95 from 11a.m.-3p.m. No matter the time of day, the portions are big, and the price is little.

And Oh so tasty...in fact, I may place an order right now!

I'm not quite sure why there have been some bad reviews for Duck Walk. Sure, it's not the first place I think of when it comes to authentic Thai (I personally love Ruby of Siam in Skokie), but they're always consistent.

Good food, friendly staff and insanely fast delivery. I've never set foot inside the actual restaurant in the 5+ years I've been ordering from them, but every time they tell me it will be about 45-50 minutes for delivery, they've never been more than 30 minutes, and I've ordered from different neighborhoods.

Everything tastes exactly the same way as I had it the previous time. I'm an extremely picky eater and almost always have to modify things my way (hey, I just know what I like), but they're always more than accommodating and have never screwed up any of my orders. And on top of that, they're really affordable.

I'm not sure what's going on in their kitchen, but kudos to those little generic Thai elves!

I still cannot find something quite like this in my new neighborhood.  This was my go-to Thai Restaurant and it never failed to satisfy.

The food is good.  The fact that it is a BYOB is a bonus.  Service is punctual - your waitress will probably constantly refill your water, so come thirsty.

Oh, and it's tiny.  There are maybe 6 tables in the restaurant, but on weekday night there is no challenge in finding a seat.

With the right company it's a nice time and with a window seat it's a people watchers delight. Actually, with the food and great company, there aren't many reasons to look outside. But then again, there are very many characters that go by on Belmont and you just can't help but look or gawk at. I could also note that it was "Speak like a Pirate day" so there were a few people walking about in pirate's wear.

We were catching a Sunday night showing of Octavarius "So Nefarious" at Comedysportz, so it was convenient to have a quick bite here. An order of their Madness noodles with shrimp and an appetizer (combo) platter was food enough for two. The menu states that the madness noodles are spicy and you might think it could be serious since it's got chili sauce in it. Wasn't so bad, had just the right amount of heat and the noodles and shrimp were tasty. Combo platter consisted of baby egg rolls, pot stickers and crab Rangoon. All three were delicious, I would've liked another crab Rangoon, but.. well, if she wants it, you gotta let her have it. Right.

With tax and tip, total was under twenty dollars. I'd definitely check them out again. My only gripe, was that there were a number of counter gals coming and going but not paying much attention to us that sat next to the window.

If management is paying attention; love the website.  Hover the mouse over food photos or entrée names and watch the image bounce like its riding a waterbed.  Kinda funny.  I'm in between projects at work, so I'm bouncing them.. they all bounce separately of each other and keep going a number of times. Ha.

Average thai food, nothing too special.

The combo appetizer platter was pretty good. You get 3 pieces of each: dumplings, crab rangoons, and spring rolls.

The pad thai was so-so, the beef was too chewy..friend got the tofu, same thing...but a decent portion of food.

A plus is that we had a big group and they were able to accomodate us in a small restaurant AND split our bill for us (that took awhile but saved me the trouble of doing it!!).

Duck Walk is your typical Thai place. I've eaten here twice now, once delivery and once inside. The food was good! Not the best I've ever had, but definitely worth coming to again if I was in the neighborhood. The service is fast, the prices cheap, however, oddly enough, the sauce is incredible. I crave it more than the actual food! It's kind of like a sweet and sour sauce, but incredibly light (it's more like a refreshing oil, very different than the gelatinous sweet and sour with the chunks of God-knows-what floating around in it). Worth a meal or two, but don't go out of your way for it.

Tasty little Thai place (and by little I mean LITTLE).  Our table was jammed up against the cashier/waitress counter but I didn't overly feel crowded.  Just keep in mind it is definitely not good for large groups.  The food was really good - I got the drunken noodles and asked for wide rice noodles instead of thin, which the waitress had quite some difficulty understanding... but everything ended up coming out exactly as ordered.  And to top it all off the price can't be beat!  All the entrees were around 7 dollars and you get plenty of food.  If I'm back in the area I would definitely eat here again.

I had one of their lunch specials last week and wished there was a similar place by my home in LA. There was a great selection of appetizers and main courses to choose from during lunch hours for a very reasonable price.

I went with the crab Rangoon and the shrimp pad thai, and I found the crab wontons to be delightful (though very bad for you), dipped in the provided sweet and sour sauce. The pad thai was not the best I've had - the noodles were a bit too soft and it was a bit heavy on the bean sprouts. But I enjoyed the shrimp a lot and was satisfied by the end of my meal. Several others ordered the Thai iced tea and were surprised to find that it was not a normal Thai iced tea but a frozen slushie variety with boba. I didn't get a chance to taste them, but make sure to specify what kind of tea you want when you order there.

I visited the store to pick up the order and found the space to be clean and cheery and the employees to be friendly and professional. They were blasting a lot of dance music, which I found a bit odd, but the place was still nearly empty when we were in there at 12:30 or so, so maybe the ladies were just getting their groove on before the lunch rush.

My piece and I  ducked (wacka wacka) in here for dinner just in time to avoid a torrential down pour not too long ago.

Grabbed the window for two and perused the menu. While we were deciding, a young lady came for our drink orders. We each ordered a bubble tea. We also wanted water but our server was gone by the time we spit out the flavors we wanted. She came back with our tapioca bubble laden teas to take our orders. Drunken noodles w chicken for him. Curry noodles for me. Fresh spring rolls to start. Oh, and water please. All of the food was great.

As mentioned, this place is tiny. A typical biproduct of tiny places is how loud they can be. Especially when a table of 8 chads/ trixies, complete with their John Barleycorn voices, hunker down right next to you. I know I sound old lady-ish whining about a ruckus, but seriously, it's a Sunday man - simma down!

Overall, this place is a great value, BYOB,  and the service is quick (maybe too quick). If you don't care for the noise, get delivery.

I was craving Thai last night, and was in the Wrigley Area.

Based on the other reviews and the fact that its packed every time I walk past, I figured I should try it.

Thai Iced tea was blended perfectly, so I ordered two throughout the meal.
I had ordered the Crab Rangoon as well as the Mini Egg Rolls.
Both were there within 10 minutes and very hot.
Crab Rangoon were perfectly portioned and not so rich, which was a nice change compared to some places that just jam the cream cheese in those.
I would have loved to see regular egg rolls on the menu,
the ones on the menu were good, but weren't what I am used too.

As my entree I ordered the Pad Woon Sen with Chicken.
The noodles were done perfectly as well as the veggies.
The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly.

My boyfriend ordered the Sweet and Sour with Beef.
Most places have gamy tasting beef, but his was sweet and tender.
All of the veggies were perfect.
    No complaints.

I loved that everything on the menu was about $7.50, and the portions were perfect. It wasn't a heaping mound of food to be wasted, but left us a good portion to bring home with us for late night snacking.

It's BYOB, so I would keep that in mind.

$30 for two people is a great deal.

Duck gets 2 stars for food; one star for service; zero stars for space.
What the hell is a Duck Walk anyway?

And what the heck kind of Thai joint doesn't have massaman? If you ask one waiter - he's says Duck Walk does. If you ask the other waiter he says they have nothing like it.

They also have those cheap, black menus with the bleeding white print which makes it nearly impossible to read. It is also a long skinny space so everyone around you is talking louder and louder to get heard over the people next to them who are speaking louder and louder to be heard over the person next to them.

The place is a nightmare- albeit a nightmare that is filled with row after row of rubber duckies.

Lose the ducks (they are really creepy) - hire someone who can cook (try massaman) - and get readable menus...

Wait - what do I care? I am NOT coming back.

I am going to stay the duck out of there.

Went here on a whim for dinner with the girlfriend since we were standing in front of the building while talking about how hungry we were.  It's a small restauruant that seats 20-25 people comfortably, and by the time we left it was apparent that their dinner hour might not have a seat for you.

The service was prompt and our waiter was friendly and attentive.  The menu is pretty standard.  Lots of noodles, lots of [choice of meat] and rice dishes.  The crab rangoon appetizers were tasty and definitely a good value.  In general the quality of their food is a little above average - this will now replace Cozy's Noodles as my go-to Thai place since it's a bit closer to home.

Two appetizers, two entrees came out to a little under thirty bucks.  Not bad.

Affordable and delicious.  Every dish I've ordered has the a right amount of sauce without being drowned or overpowering the other ingredients.  Dishes taste fresh and portions are enough to be filling or even full, but not feel stuffed after eating the whole plate.  Their clientele is less snippety than at Joy's on Broadway, though food wise is also fine.  The restaurant itself is a little small so it's not good for large parties, which is a plus for Joy's, but after eating the food all is forgiven.  The dining room is quaint and adds to it's charm, but don't let it's size deceive you - parties of 4 can sit and eat quite comfortably.  Unlike the aforementioned, service is friendly and efficient but not rushed.  After moving to east Lakeview I still order my delivery from Duck Walk.

I continue going back to Duck Walk because, honestly, their crab rangoon is the best I've had in Chicago. Without a doubt. Their pot stickers (and the delightful sauce that accompanies them) are also pretty awesome.

    Try them. I insist.
