There are no better bakeries in the world. Seriously, IN THE WORLD. IF YOU DISAGREE, YOU ARE A LYING BASTARD. ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT THIS IS NOT THE WORLD'S GREATEST DONUT STORE IN THE WORLD, THEN YOU'VE NEVER HAD A DONUT FROM THIS PLACE.
Okay, now to the real meat of the bakery. This place makes fresh donuts every morning, but if you don't get there on time, then you get no donuts. And by on time, I'm talking about getting there before 8:00 am. They sell out of donuts quickly because they are so freaking fabulous. I'm not a huge donut eater, but I could eat these donuts the same way that Homer ate the Donuts when he was sent to hell for the evening for eating the rest of the "forbidden donut" in the Halloween special from Season 8 or 9 of The Simpsons. You know, the one where Flanders is Satan and Marge gets the Jury of the Damned to proclaim Homer is innocent because he had already signed his soul away to Marge when he ate the wedding cake before the wedding. So, yea, I'd eat those things non-stop until they were completely gone and I'd still be asking for more. It doesn't matter how many of them are sitting in front of me.
I may ask for a glass of milk while chomping down on the donuts, but I'd survive if you didn't give me a glass.
My writing this review right now makes me want to go back to my home town and go buy about a bakers gross of these donuts and eat them on my way back home.
Please, GOD, send me some of these donuts while I sleep. This is my prayer for this evening. -

I would tenatively give them five, but I only ate the doughnuts, so that's not playing fair.
The doughnuts are a five. They're pretty dense, and we figured the secret may be potatoes. Nevertheless, I somehow spontaneously woke myself during a recent vacation at a nearby lake, drove into town, and made it back without eating the whole dozen.
But there's always next time...
They say this used to be a German bakery. Alas...why couldn't we enjoy BOTH? -

I'm thinking James may be over-exaggerating a bit, but their donuts are pretty good. The Bismarks are pretty sinful, and their donut holes are great. Whenever we make a trip to Cullman, we make a point of stopping off at the Duchess.
I have to subtract a star for being closed on Mondays, though. I do believe that a business owner has the undeniable right to post their own hours, but that right becomes forfeit if I show up to get me a Bismark and they're closed on a Monday! -

Best donuts I've had... I'm almost thankful that they are 30 minutes away, because if I get them warm... I'm destined to eat half the bag.
