Oh maann their pizza is pretty delicious. It's thin crust, gooey, oozy, but crispy, however you want to describe it.
I've been to quite a few jumbo slice places on U street (even though I've only been to DC for a month) and Duccini's is by far the best!!!
Tried the soy cheese pizza today, it was really good although the people working there sorta were dicks, I don't believe that they don't have a bathroom in there, if I'm patronizing your business the least you can do is walk me into the back so I can take a leak.
Let me start by saying that the jumbo slices at Duccini's are AMAZING. Probably the best drunk food you will find in DC, unless you're into the whole falafel thing.
Now, picture this: It's a warm Saturday night in the summer. You are out drinking with a bunch of friends, some visiting from other cities. As much as you are enjoying the alcohol, all you can think about is food. You don't know why you can't stop thinking about food, it may be an addiction. Anyway, your first instinct is always to go to Duccini's. It's a bit of a walk from where you are, but it's always worth it. You describe the jumbo slice to your visiting friends, and they too get the craving.
So you walk, and as you're walking you're getting hungrier and hunger, picturing the greasy, cheesy, amazingness that is Duccini's in your mouth. You finally get there, only to find that....
Duccini's is CLOSED!! Now, there were no hours listed outside of the restaurant. There was a man inside, who refused to give us even some scraps. Although this cannot be verified, it couldn't have been later than 1 or 2am on a Saturday night. What type of jumbo slice establishment closes that early?! For that I have refused to return, instead investing in a large box of reliable EZ-Mac for those late-night cravings. It's not as good, but it never disappoints me.
I tried one of their pizzas last night since they were offering a special on their new vegan pizza. Thou not a vegan personally (only vegetarian), the pizza with vegan cheese was surprisingly good. It would be even better if they offered whole wheat pizzas too. I went for carry out thou they offer delivery. The service was very good with multiple people attempting to help me after I had ordered as I waited for my pie.
Duccini's is the only place in DC that you get VEGAN JUMBO SLICES and their vegan pizza is delcious! This week they just started offering Daiya vegan cheese as a topping and the pizza is seriously good. I got a large pizza with vegan cheese, all their vegetable toppings, plus jalapenos, and I highly recommend it!
This review is only for their Jumbo slice ... I don't know anything about their other pizza. But the jumbo slice here is amazing, probably the best on 18th street.
I am fairly certain the crust is laced with some kind of drug - but it tastes sooo amazingly good.
I had passed this place probably a hundred times without even thinking that it might be good, and someone finally suggested I stop in. And I am quite glad that I did. It is a little further away from my house than Boli's Jumbo Slice, or Alberto's - but it is definitely worth it.
All right, here's how it's gonna be:
For a pizza delivery place: 4 stars.
They deliver, mostly on time, and their pizza is pretty good (at least compared to other delivery in town, which isn't saying much). Tasty toppings and not too heavy on the sauce.
Overall, I'm going to lay on a whopping 3 stars.
Call me fickle, but any pizza place that has wings this bad deserves no higher than 3 stars. They tasted like frozen wings that were fried, then frozen again, then heated in a microwave. Don't order them. Really.
I can't attest to their jumbo slices, but for delivery, I give them the thumbs up.
Whenever it's pizza night, there's only two places my boyfriend and I turn to: Duccini's or Baffetto. Both are equally tasty and pretty reliable.
Duccini's loads on the sauce, cheese and toppings making for an excellent pie. And I rarely eat pizza crust, but their regular-to-thin crust is so scrumptious I find myself eating their crust more than others. Just ordered from here last night--had a pepperoni and salami and it was amazing! Although it's important to note, they're not always "on." Every now and again they'll have an off night and that's when I switch to Baffetto for my next order.
Never had their subs or pastas before but have had the wings. Eh, I should have known ordering wings from a pizza place.
Also, a great feature w/ Duccini's is you can order online. (http://www.202eatpizza...)
Enjoy!
I am big fan of Duccini's pizza. I think it's the best pizza I've had, but I wouldn't consider myself an expert at pizza. I was very impressed by the amount of toppings they loaded their pizzas with.
The second time I ordered they took more than an hour and a half. When I called and asked to speak to a manager, he was no where to be found. I was told to call back in at 5pm. It was around 1pm at the time. When I called back the manager apologized and gave me the order for only 25% of the actual cost. It sucked that the food took so long, but I didn't mind the 75% discount.
Duccini's is an anomaly to me. Their pizza is unlike any pizza I've ever had (and I've had a lot of pizza.) I think the one word to describe it is: GOOEY. The crust is gooey and the pizza is loaded with gooey, delicious cheese. Somewhere in there I think there is some pizza sauce.
Regardless, Duccini's is one of my favority hangover delivery services in the AdMo area. And the best part is -- you can order it online! And within 30 minutes (to Columbia Heights) there is a knock on your door and a sweet gentleman hands you this glorious box of hot, gooey goodness.
I also ventured out and tried some non-pizza food at Duccini's. The chicken parm sub was average (but being I'm from NJ, it was definitely a surprise in the DC area.) The pizza fries are HEAVENLY. Pizza gooeyness on fries sans dough. Pass on the wings -- I should have known not to order take out wings. (If you can't tell -- this meal was a result of extreme Sunday afternoon hangoverness.)
I'm looking forward to trying their Chef's Salad and maybe the "western fries" -- whatever those are.
Check out their website -- and order some Duccini's ASAP!
When our dinner group morphed from 3 to 4 to 8 to a whopping 10 (on a Saturday night no less) we began to reconsider our plans to go out to dinner. Our guests were amenable to ordering in so we called Duccinis. I admit, I was inspired after reading so many great reviews on Yelp and boasted to my guests, "Yelpers like it!"
We ordered three large pies plus a couple of large salads. They told us it would be 35 minutes, I'm pretty sure it came even quicker than that! My only complaint was that they only brought blue cheese dressing (despite us requesting a couple of other kinds) and I detest that stuff.
Back in San Francisco, my go to delivery pizza was Uncle Vito's.
From this day forward I shall call Duccini's Uncle Vito's EAST.
I'm a native Chicagoan, so when I had Duccini's delivered yesterday and it was really good, I was impressed. Good sauce amount, sort of half way between Chicago and NY pizza. I had ham and pepperoni and onions. The onions were super fresh and still firm, and tasty, so this was a serious plus.
Fast delivery time. The guy on the phone though wouldn't accept our undated coupon from their flyer, then wouldn't note that the new flyer offered a 99 cent two-liter. We were also charged a fair amount more than the flyer for the toppings. My recommendation, order online so you aren't dealing with him, because the pizza is worthwhile.
if anyone wonders why i call for delivery in dc at all, you're not alone. i dont always have the ingredients and am not always in the mood to make my own pizza. but there is NO way i'll EVER order from here again. THESE PEOPLE ARE F*%KING A&^HOLES.
Got the same *&^^%% last time after placing my order online and waiting an hour and same deal - "i'll call the driver" - when i said she lied last time, she said she had this time too and laughed, then put me on hold. spoke with the next person who was equally full of sh*t, then while i was full of fury and on the phone the driver showed up ----- with the wrong pizza. not at all what i ordered, and missing the ice cream and drinks. (Note: They advertise that they have Ben & Jerrys and even run Ben & Jerrys specials. THEY DO NOT EVEN CARRY BEN & JERRYS. They will arrive with Haagen Daaz EVERY TIME. Haagen Daaz is not an acceptable substitute.)
i will never order from them again. a pox on the owners and everyone that has ever worked there. this business seems to take pride in f&cking over their customers.

BAD BAD BAD
i called after waiting for my pizza from Duccini's for an hour and a half and the lady… Read more »
We have probably ordered their totally unremarkable pizza 40 or 50 times because we believe in supporting local businesses, though honestly, it's just like Papa John's, Pizza Hut, or Domino's in terms of quality. Last time they gave us the wrong pizzas and we didn't notice until we got home. We called and asked for a refund, they rudely refused, even after we explained we were regular customers. I guess that's how regular customers are treated...EX-regular customers, that is.
Update: We caved. They are just too close by. We were rewarded for our return with a two-hour wait for our pizza. Each time we called, they said it was on the way. The last time we called, they said it was in the oven. Arrrgh! But then...we went back again for more punishment tonight...and our pizza got here in less than 20 minutes. So consistency is not their strong point. Neither is good customer service. But you know, their pizza's really pretty solid.
my vote for best pizza in DC. I guess matchbox comes close, but its a different style
I'm not a big fan of jumbo slices (what a freak, I know). This was much better than the places up 18th, though, I'll give them that. It was also a lot less greasy than others I've had. I was really hungry anyway and it worked for a quick dinner on a rainy night.
My friend Eric was living with me one summer and had no cash and couldn't find a job. So we were in search of the greatest slice of pizza in DC and heard about Duccini's. We went, it was good, and Eric took an application. Then Eric became a Duccini's delivery boy, complete with purple hat and magnetic sign for his Honda "Four Cylinders of Doom" Civic.
Over the course of the next few months, Eric delivered pizza. Along with delivering pizza, he had knives pulled on him, people threaten to mug him, people fall asleep while waiting for him, people refuse to pay him, was undertipped nearly all of the time, and was generally shit on.
People, be nice to your Duccini's deliveryboy, because not only does he have a dangerous job, he may just owe someone you know rent.
Five stars compared to any other pizza in D.C. but seriously, it's D.C. What can you do.
Amazing service. Gave us free drinks, expanded the delivery service area for us "regulars" and even discussed their new virtual salad bar idea with us. (like Internet salad bar, and they deliver it with your pizza)
kinda cool idea actually.
It's really enjoyable to just eat at the counter on a cold day and savor the smell of the pizza oven.
Holy Big Slice! It's the best Big Slice in Adams Morgan/ U Street area....my only complaint is they don't always stay open until 2 am on the weekends.... and that has left me a few times without my drunken, late-night yummy big slice!
Really better than I'd hoped. The online ordering option seems to cut down on miscues. Prices are reasonably low, and the pies are pretty good. Not the best in DC, but most of its superior competitors don't deliver. Not exactly "authentic" pizza -- kind of a semi-thick, soft crust with a good amount of cheese. What I've come to know as "Upstate New York -style." They seem to use fresh toppings, and their dough is pretty good -- slightly sweet, not too heavy.
Duccini's is good, solid, no-frills pizza. It's not NY, it's not Chicago, but it's pretty tasty and consistent. The salads are eh, but I recommend the pizza. Ask for the $.99 medium cheese pizza (you need to order a L or XL with at least 2 toppings). The service is generally lightning fast too. I almost want some tonight to make me forget Coppi's.
Coming from the west coast and hearing tales of the infamous "East Coast-NY" pizza all my life, I found Duccini's satisfying! That, and their pizza slices were bigger than some whole pizzas I've seen. Both my visits were pleasant; a gray-haired gentlemen waited on us and was very nice. My cheese slice was just what is should've been: DELICIOUS!
I am a New Yorker so it is hard for me to find pizza that truly lives up to my expectations. I can't say Duccini's totally does but it comes closer than everywhere else. Also, the people who work there are super nice and the pizza is ready really fast. So if you are going to order pizza in D.C., go for Duccini's. Too bad driving to NY for pizza isn't convenient. Hmm.
Sometimes Duccini's takes a while to deliver (up to 45-60 minutes @ peak hours), but the pizza is fantastic and worth the wait. Wings are pretty good, but usually aren't spicy enough (last Friday the wings were the best I've ever ordered from Duccini's, so I don't know if they've changed recipes or anything). Reasonably priced, great cheese and not too much sauce -- just right.
My favorite pizza combination is the following: Green olives, hot peppers, ham, and mushrooms. 7 years in DC and I have found 2 pizza joints that have green olives: Ledo Pizza and Duccini's. The latter is located much closer to me and has hours that are more in tune with my lifestyle (a.k.a. post 12am). If you're looking for a good pizza for a cheap price, give Duccini's a try. They aren't the most amazing pizza place out there, but they have a ton of toppings and they hot pizza quickly. Duccini's is no Bertucci's, Alberto's, or Romeo's, but it's better than all the traditional late-night crappy pizza shops like Cappucino's, Pizza Boli's, Manny and Olga's (also known to friends and I in college as Manny and Shitface). Duccini's is worth ordering once to see if you like it - after all, solid pizza is in the eye of the beholder :)
The pizza at this take-out joint was very tasty and done fast. Kind of like Papa Johns style -- hearty and sweet, but better (good crispy crust). I like how they throw in a can of soda if you carry out. It's a little on the expensive side. Boli's down the street can save you some money. Pizza places should always have specials and coupons.
Not only is the pizza only so so, the customer service is AWFUL. We didn't have a menu or coupons when we place our order as we had just moved into our new apartment. We were placing a significantly large order and asked what they could do for us as far as coupons etc. Most places would offer the same discounts that they send out as coupons to every resident in their delivery zone, ESPECIALLY if we were a potential new customer (as we were). Well, they certainly were not very helpful in the discount area so we couldn't order as many pizzas as we would have liked to. And then when our pizzas arrived.... they WERE WRONG!!! We specifically ordered 2 of the pizza with NO cheese but all the pizzas came with cheese!
So we called Duccini's about the mistake to see what they could do for us and they blamed us for the mistake! They refused to admit that they made a mistake and refused to do anything to rectify the situation.
Now I've worked in food service for many many years and I have never ever heard of any establishment not taking responsibility for their mistakes REGARDLESS of who was right and who was wrong.
If I had it to do over, I would have ordered from ANYPLACE other than Duccini's.
I wish I'd read the Yelp reviews before I ordered because my Duccini's experience was truly awful. The guy who answered the phone couldn't speak English and it took me about 10 minutes to complete my order. Delivery took 60 instead of the promised 30 minutes. When I started eating I realized they had given me the wrong pizza! I am a vegetarian, they gave me what was probably the meat lover's pizza. When I called to complain the woman who answered (who also couldn't speak English, do we see a pattern here??) insisted that I'd ordered the "unique" pizza and not the "vegelicious" and refused to admit that the guy had just not understood me. Then when I asked for my money back, they refused to give it to me. Instead, they sent over a new pizza (in a record 15 mins). This one tastes okay (not great though), so I won't be ordering from here again. I gave them one star b/c of the replacement, otherwise it would have been zero.
