Love Dubsea! Nice neighbor coffee house. The owners are there a lot and patiently deal with picky customers who are searching out the perfect cup of tea. What is my vision of the perfect cup of tea? Breakfast tea steeped for at least 2 min tucked beneath the most beautiful cloud of steamed half n half with 2 teaspoons of honey gentle stirred in. Pure heaven! This place is my local favorite. Their cardamom latte is tasty as well:)

Dubsea has a really beautiful space with lots of tables and interesting art on the walls. I had been meaning to go there for a long time, but I finally made it today. I was impressed by the attentive and friendly staff (both people working kept me up to date on the status of my drinks and food and both worked hard to engage me in conversation).

The latte I ordered was very decent. I think that it wasn't the greatest shot ever pulled, but the milk was steamed perfectly, and I am a total sucker for latte art.

I very much enjoyed the Vermont breakfast burrito with its peppery and herby combination of egg, cheese, and potatoes. So good.

This is definitely a place that I plan to return to. Were it not for the absurdly uncomfortable chairs, I would say it would be a great place to work and study, but it is a great place to grab coffee and a bite to eat.

Maybe the single best place in White Center. Very good coffee, food, and service. This place is a treasure. If I had one wish, it would be that they had a little wider selection of baked goods, but they have a better than reasonable amount, it's just that I go here everyday, so even their extensive options could be broadened for me. They have a great atmosphere, art, and community events. Kid friendly, but still quiet and perfect for when you need a kid free moment or a place to camp out and work.

Nice place, open and airy in a great neighborhood. I love the work live look of the neighborhood.
Service was good, coffee was good. I'm not a fan of packaged foods. It would be great if they offered a nice breakfast that was freshly cooked.

I'm not a huge fan of Stumptown coffee; however, good baristas can make pretty much any coffee tasty. And the baristas here do just that. My nonfat latte is always very good. Plus support your local vendor!

I like the fact they highlight local artists as well. The only recommendation I would have is to make it a warmer, more inviting atmosphere. It feels a little sterile at times and I don't feel encouraged to hang out long (and possibly order more coffee and goodies!)

Best coffee in White Center, by far, and probably in the top 2 or 3 in West Seattle.  Family friendly, community based, and easy to spread out on a large table and get some work done.  Free wifi, well trained staff, and a discount for cash.  Live the dream!

    Stumptown. 'Nuff said.

Well, not *really* enough said because I do NOT think the barristas here have any clue about how to pull a proper espresso (with the exception of the owner), but the space is absolutely gorgeous and their drip coffee is worth the trek into WC.  Definitely a great place to meet friends or take the kids and just hang out for awhile.

So straight up, I like my coffee big and bold...strong...cowboy coffee...if you can't float a horseshoe on the surface, it ain't done yet.

Unfortunately, the coffee here is extremely mild.  I drink straight latte's, no flavor, and I have to get a triple shot tall in order to taste the coffee over the milk.  That being said, the coffee does taste good, it just isn't very strong.  So minus one star for me.

The cafe on the other hand is nice...the folks behind the counter are always friendly.  The baked goods are always fresh and tasty and the prices are reasonable at just under six bucks for my triple shot tall latte and a large blueberry scone.

Oh, they also give a small discount if you pay cash..so bring cash.

I would like to give them four or five stars just for the atmosphere, design, friendliness, etc...but the weak coffee just stops me.  It really is all about the coffee.

    A solid three though!

So yeah, come for the coffee, stay for the atmosphere.

You know that combination of chill, laid-back baristas making a solid cup of coffee that know all the regulars, all in a cool, funky, neighborhoody kind of place?  Yeah, that's Dubsea.  I came in to meet up with someone from White Center, and was a little dubious at first about the coffeeshop.  But I figured I'd give it a try and see what I thought.  Well, I was floored.  It's a neighborhood place with some of the best coffee I've had in Seattle.  It passed the plain soy latte test (coffee that's really good should be tasty enough without any syrups or flavorings getting in the way) with flying colors, and the barista behind the counter was super-nice, even though we had never met, and it was clear she was used to having small talk with all her customers.

If you're in the neighborhood, check it out!  You'll be glad you did.  But don't go in without expecting a bit of a conversation from the people behind the counter.  Go ahead, be friendly to them, you'll be glad you did.

Artwork on the walls, murals near the bathroom, a GIANT pastry case that's always full of exciting things, and great staff is why I like this shop. Music selections are played over the speakers from Pandora on the register computer. Pandora always manages to get it right!

I will have to dock 1 star for the fact that there's (in the afternoon) hoards of elementary-age children yelling, fighting, or pushing eachother around trying to order cookies or chips. I was completely put off by being slammed into by several rude kids pushing me away from the goodies case while I waited for my drink to be made.

Other than throngs of crappy kids, this place is top-notch! Free wifi, plenty of places to plug in, peaceful (minus the kids) patrons, and above all else, good drinks.

I ordered a 20oz mocha this visit, and a turkey sandwich. The sandwich left much to be desired... I have no idea how long it was wrapped for, but the taste of onion had filled all of the ingredients and the bread was soggy. It was also a HUGE sandwich, and I had to hunt for a knife to cut it into a more manageable portion.

I went here for the first time, it was pretty chillin spot. I hear they make animals in their coffee, but I ordered a cold drink so no animals for me. But the service here is great, they are pretty nice. I was given free snacks because they were closing!

I come here mostly for meetings and the service is always nice.  It's a nice little coffee shop with a modern feel.  I like the photographs and testimonies from kids that they have on their walls, it shows they're connected to the community.  It's funny when you're there on a weekday afternoon and a bunch of kids crowd into the store after school and order the huge Italian sodas.

I usually order hazelnut hot chocolate because I don't drink coffee, I must admit it's not as good as Starbucks' hazelnut hot chocolate but it's decent enough for me to order multiple times.  I've eaten one of their sandwiches before and it was pretty good, I think it was something with tomato, mozzarella, and pesto.  The shortbread/sugar cookies they have are so good!  I love the ones they get for Valentine's day with the sparkly sugar.    Also, if you pay cash you get a small discount and I think they have a punch card too.

So, I know White Center has a bad rap...having been dubbed rat city (due to it's extensive rat infestation back in the day)...being repeatedly snubbed by Seattle as a bid for annexation.. I think I even remember one of the weeklies writing an article about how "downtown" white center turns virtually into sin city come nightfall (porn shops, prostitutes, drug transactions, gang activity, etc.). I myself never witnessed any crime activity even during my frequent bus-riding days throughout my college years. Although I admit that that may all be true at one time or another.. Even so, I still have a weak spot for this little community. Mexican and Khmer business establishments abound.. Jubilee festivals each summer.. the traveling amusement park that visits each year setting up shop in the abandoned lots back in the day...the sounds of raucous cheers from the stadium nearby heard from great distances. I've watched this community evolve and grow so much from year to year.

And so glad to see Dubsea spring up in the midst of this new growth. I give this place props for choosing white center as its home - a seemingly unlikely and daring decision on the owner's part for sure. And I'm glad to see that this place isn't just another attractive little coffee shop. It's really embedded itself into the community.. Holding open mike nights, art gallery events, baby meetups (cute!), and screening films for kids.

But don't mistake Dubsea's do-gooding for wimpiness on any fronts.. This place definitely serves coffee that will satisfy even the most critical of coffee guzzlers or the early morning bus commuters. And my, my, my... the interior is a minimalist's dream. Industrial cork-screw stools (my favorite), simple concrete floors and wood furnishings and benches... wide open spaces (in a coffee shop?? unheard of!), and windows that span practically from floor to ceiling keeping the place bright even on the gloomiest and rainiest of Seattle days. Aaaaaah....

Prices are reasonable. Food is available for those who like to munch while they sip. The barista I encountered was friendly and unpretentious.. and smiled at me which made me blush. ;)

Four stars because I don't feel like I've tried all they've had to offer enough for me to rate higher.. but honestly, this is one of the best coffee shops I've tried in Seattle. Fo-sho!

Please support this place!! They work hard and it shows. :)

Finally a place we can walk to that has quality coffee! And Stumptown even!

I love the open airy feeling and clean design, the fact that there was local art on the walls, the nice selection of local pastries, sandwiches and the care taken in making our drinks.

I've been in three times over the last couple of weeks and like what I've seen so far... Happy to have this place nearby. Give them a try!

This place has what you're looking for in a coffee shop.  First, the location in the south end of West Seattle is pretty nice.  There was ample street parking to be had, which is something I look for at most places I go anymore.

The space inside is the perfect mix of open and welcoming.  The tables are good distances apart so if one is having a conversation and others are trying to read it's not too distracting.  The people working are super friendly and the coffee is pretty awesome.  I will definitely be coming back here for my coffee shop needs when in West Seattle!

    Finally.

I have a coffee shop I can walk to from my house.

    And they are good!

Dubsea accomplishes the rare - a mix of hip, trendy, and modern without cliche or pretense.

I have been twice the first two days of its existence, and I plan on being a fixture in the establishment.

The decor is beautiful, the bakery case is wonderfully stocked (I loved the Raspberry Oat Muffin and the Bluberry Scone), and the coffee is good, too.

I am sticking with my vote of 5 stars, but I will offer constructive criticism. My inaugural Americano was not as good as I hoped, the second cup of day #1 was the drip, which I liked, and on day #2 my Americano was better. So, things are definitely on a upward trend. Oh, and November means bring on the Egg Nog!

The music is played at the perfect level - delightfully audible, but not intrusive, the ownership is stellar, and the staff rocks.

Dubsea is MY neighborhood cafe, but you should definitely leave your neighborhood to visit. You won't be sorry.

Oh, and the current art installation is fantastic!

What a cool place, I was in West Seattle hanging with a friend , and he was like hey you want to go get some coffee, hey you don't have to ask me twice when it comes to coffee

at first I was like are they open, but then we saw people walking in the door as we were parking, years ago we used to get a drink called a Hail Marry its a Chia Latte with a little chocolate, (morning glory) and when we told the lady about it she was I can try to make you one of those, and she did a great job it was so damn tasty

very cool people here we met the owner and she was sweet as they come, we also met the artist who has his stuff on the walls, also he has these cool bandannas that he has made they come from Mexico and are Free Trade Wares

he was doing a live painting last night while they had a open mike, poetry ready and what not

very nice and cool place I'm sure will try to go back, and my friend who lives over there will be back for sure

Beware of staring directly into the foam... you will be memorized. Don't believe me check out their site, no better yet stop by DubSea when their foam artist in working. I could have sworn his pictures of what he does to the frothy top of a caffeine indulgence was photo-shopped but nope. The owner confirmed she saw him make it with her own eyes.
Besides being amazingly pretty, their coffee is actually really good. The space they've created encourages the creative juices with though provoking art all around by community artists. I plan on returning often for my caffeine fix.

I happen to enjoy one of the most high maintenance espresso drinks-- the cappuccino.  For those of you who drink cappuccino you know that getting just the right foam is an art form that's rarely mastered.  On every occasion that I've gone to Dubsea my cappuccino was perfect!  Heavenly, silky foam without any of those big air bubbles.  The barristas are down to earth and friendly.  No snobbiness here.  Ultimately, this is a real community coffee house that features local art and even student work occasionally. I hope this place makes it big.

Good Americano... that's all I can say about the coffee. I am not a huge fan of Stumptown, but this was pretty good. The temperature was right and it was pretty smooth.

The food looked good, but I wasn't hungry.

I've only been here twice so far, but know I'll be back many times more. If you're a fan of Stumptown coffee, as I am, you'll be happy to hear they serve it here. Prices are quite good and there's usually plenty of free street parking nearby too. Aside from the occasional rush here and there, there's plenty of seating and it doesn't get obnoxiously loud. I wish they stayed open a bit later...even just an extra hour would be nice.

Two big thumbs up to Dubsea Coffee, very pleasant atmosphere and not to mention their enjoyable yet cool looking coffee. Everything from the art work and music all contributes to what Dubsea is really all about. I've went to many cafe's and most are just boring and feel all the same. Dubsea however, is very different and wouldn't be suprised if it sets a new trend for future Cafe's around the Seattle area. I highly recommend this place!

I concur....FINALLY!  This place feels like a real neighborhood cafe, I see myself making many trips there to get through the drizzly cold days of winter.  I have high hopes for Dubsea.

My husband and I found this place accidentally while out for a walk today.  I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am that I can now get a Morning Glory Chai without driving half way across town.

The place itself is gorgeous, and looks a bit like a studio/gallery space with all of it's shiny newness. Speaking of art, the art installation was really well done, and I'm super picky when it comes to artwork.  The barista was wonderful, equal parts skilled and friendly.  Well done, and welcome to the neighborhood!

This place is very special...  Dubsea Coffee is a beautiful space, lots of light, with high ceilings, great corner location.  I had a 12oz mocha here and it was amazing!!!  My bf loved his as well.  Smooth, not bitter with a generous serving of coffee infused whip.  Very nice coffee art as well as cool edgy wall art! Has a nice flow, love the bar which to me is the focal point and draws you in.  Great energy about it with eclectic music which is key for a good coffee house.  They serve Stumptown roast here with Macrina baked goods.  Top Notch!  Very fresh and good selection.  We also tried the panini sammiches... perfectly grilled, melted cheese and great flav.  I definitely recommended this beautfiul coffee house...  5 whopping stars for me!
