The Dublin House used to be my one of two places I frequented on the weekends when I used to live in Colts Neck. I still love visiting here whenever I am back at my second home for the weekend. It always has a good crew of people in there and the drinks are always good.

The Dublin house has three different bars you can order drinks at. There is the outside bar that is open in the summer time, the large first floor bar where most people go, and then the smaller bar tucked in the back room on the second floor. My favorite one is the outside one during the summer, but they close it in the winter and the first floor bar will be mobbed with people during the cold months. I have never had a problem with the service here and was always treated very well.

The bar food is not the best I have had but it is not the worst I have had either. The hot wings are pretty good and the nachos are large enough to share with another person. Its basically just your average bar food, so do not expect anything that will create miracles.

The drinks are priced fair and usually made with a little more of a kick than they would normally be, which is something I like. More bang for your buck. The Long Island Ice Tea's will beat you to death so use caution when consuming.

Overall I gave this place four stars because of the good service, the good drinks, the decent bar food, and mainly the repeated good experiences I have had going here before my Yelping days. This place is one of my go to places when I am back in the area and I would suggest it to anyone who finds themselves in Red Bank. It's better in the summer, but its still a good place.

...flies flying around us, smells like wet dog when u walk in and the bar area, I got one water for my entire stay, never offered, and it was empty in the first 5 minutes... the wrap was bad, half was dry and all the sauce was in one side, it was bad... the ceasar salad was just all wet dressing...

its a nice atmosphere shame they didn't back it up with service or food

First off, I suspect most of the people giving this place 1 star simply don't eat pub food. If you don't want bangers and mash or shepherd's pie, what are you doing in an Irish pub? Honestly, you wouldn't go to a Chinese resturaunt and order chicken nuggets.

That said, the Dublin house definatly has it's problems. Most annoying is the slow service. I don't like waiting 10 minutes for my Guinness. Also, the beer selection could be a little better, though it's still an improvement from most places. The beer is quite overpriced, at 6 bucks a pint.

However, the bangers and mash here is excelent, so I encourage those of you who usually get the less Irish fare to try this instead. Their Irish nachos is also fantastic. Really, the best time to go is on Monday, when they have their 10 dollar deals. 10 dollars for a meal and a beer is pretty damn good.

Dublin House is a nice little spot in Red Bank.  A couple of things we like: Parking, as in the big public lot right behind the restaurant.  Outdoor Seating, in the summer Dublin offers a full outdoor bar.  Reasonable Pricing, the price of drinks won't send you to the kitchen to wash dishes just to pay for your beers.  Think $5 max for a pint on tap.  Food is good too.
    Will we return?  Yes.

    Okay, nobody Yelps around here....seriously!
I couldn't locate a restaurant around the vicinity that had more than 30 reviews.

We tried to go to Carlo's O'Connor Mexican restaurant, but I don't know how Mexican it can be with an Irish surname. Carlo's was closed on Mondays and A was starving, so The Dublin House it is.

    *sigh*
When we sat down outside, I thought to myself, this is not the kind of place to order "seafood". This is the places where you need to order things like fried or burger, but I wasn't in a mood for neither.

I ended up deciding to take my chance and ask the waitress, what's the most popular item. She mentioned the Turkey Burger and Penne Vodka.

Again, it was a hot sunny day, I am not going to get pasta or burger, so I inquired about the Crab crusted Tilapia with buttered vegetables. She's like I just had that yesterday and it's so good. I, then asked her what kind of vegetables comes with this entree. She looked at me confused and asked me what the menu said. I said, it says "buttered vegetables". Okay, if she just had this just yesterday and it's sooooooooooo good, how come she can't even remember that the dish came with vegetables?

So I am like moving on and I said how are the crabcakes here? She's like I eat that almost everyday. I asked her if it's fishy? She didn't have any clue what I was talking about when I asked that question and looked at me dazed and confused. I said, some places doesn't make good crabcakes and they can be fishy.

She's like I never heard of that and we don't bread our crabcakes here. I trusted her opinion, due to the fact she looked at me puzzled for even mentioning crabcakes can be on the fishy side.

We didn't get our food until forever and the service was SUPER DUPER slow. The place wasn't even busy!

A didn't trust getting salads here, so A got a Chicken Wrap. A said it was decent.

My Crabcake Po' Boy - disgusting. Yes, I knew it wasn't going to be a traditional Po' Boy, since their version is served on a brioche bread. There were no pickles within the Po' Boy and I didn't detect any Creole flavour.

Why did I order a Creole dish in an Irish restaurant?
Oh, yeah that waitress who told me she ate this everyday and how good and non fishy it was.

I want to say it was DAMN fishy.

The waitress palate is not up to standards to my standards.

She came over and asked me and I said, it's fishy and not good. But I told her it's okay, no worries. I guess she really didn't even try to make it better by offering any replacement.

Oh wells, I ate my okay tasting fries and called it a day.

This place is awful... Monmouth Country in general is so boring that this place seems like a good option for a night out.

The food is hit or miss. No vegetarian food except for pasta. The wraps are basically glorified salads. And, take everyone else's comments to heart - the service sucks to the 1000th degree. The worst part is the drink prices. To my crappy judgement I gave them the benefit and figured maybe they would have a good Irish Coffee. I was better off going home, making my own coffee, and putting my own liquor in it. Horrid drink!

But they have a cool patio and its in a house, so I guess it has that going for it?

We had just spent day in Sandy Hook  (fun, but gray skies for basically the whole time). Drove down to Freehold to check out little stores and shops and ended up @ Dublin House.

We were there on a Monday night, so we all tried the $10 Taste of Ireland special...

I got shepard's pie and my hubby got Bangers 'n' Mash. My friend got the Gaelic chicken. Thought that food was pretty good and the $10 deal (with a free beer) can't be beat. We got the Irish nachos for an app...they were good but I could have done without them...

I liked the decor of the place....better than other Irish "pubs" I've been to.
Bathrooms seem oddly un-Irish and don't really fit in with the decor, but it didn't really matter to me...it's a bathroom, you know? In the main restaurant area, they need to repaint the ceiling though...it's pretty filthy:)

I guess you could say service was on the slower side, but it was crowded and the wait time didn't feel painfully long.

I'd go there again, but honestly, it would have to be for the Monday night special....from other people's reviews, I don't think it would be worth it to go on another evening and pay double for the food and beer...

I was so stoked when we got here since we walked in they had a rad outdoor bar and soccer was on the tv and smithwicks was on draft. We grabbed dinner outside with a large party and the night went down hill... Service was super slow, drinks were on the small side and they averaged about 30 minutes between coming back to the table from dropping anything off. It took forever to get the bill and the waiter didn't come back to pick it up. Eh, disappointing.

The only reason I gave it a 2 star was the food portion of night was decent. The baby aruegala  salad I had was huge and my boyfriend liked his California chicken sandwich.

This place has cool vibe but I think probably way better just to get drinks here than dinner.

I think people need to acknowledge that 6$ for a pint isn't even always standard as a NEW YORK price...and this is New Jersey.

The bartender was a bitch who was disinterested in anyone coming in, unless they were male and flirtacious. It appeared common to hear her tell people to "fuck off" for no apparent reason, and she spent the majority of her time making bloody mary mix (which should be something that is prep BEFORE the opening of the bar, especially when the bar was packed for New Years Day). We couldn't get her attention for 20 minutes so we left.

The music was awful (celtic kitsch) and the enviroment fit this theme.

I suppose it's better to come in the summer when you can be outside.

Would not expect bad fish & chips at a place called the Dublin House, but they were bad. Gorton's puts out a better tasting fish! Bayou salad was big, but just thrown on plate with some bad produce. Ordered stuffed mushrooms, but they were out of mushrooms. Outside service was very good. Bathrooms clean.

More popular than ever and lacking the character or yesteryear, I feel like this place lost something when they did a major renovation and cleaned it up, big-time.  (or wait... maybe it's because they now charge a few bucks more per pint!!!???)

Still, I have a soft spot for this place.  A good pint of Guiness for sure, and the food ain't half bad (I especially dig the Shep's Pies topped in cheese, yum).  A must-stop if you're bar hopping Red Bank and want something more laid-back... but keep in mind it's getting trendier by the minute.

Someone else wrote on here that the new remodeling job on the Dublin House looks like what someone from Disney World would think an Irish pub should look like...I couldn't agree more.  While the building itself was in desperate need for some updating, I think it was done at the expense of the character that was embedded in the dingy walls and time-worn bar top.

If you're looking for something to eat, it would be prudent to drink about thirty beers beforehand because the food here sucks.  Then again, if Irish food is the first thing to come to mind when thinking about amazing food, chances are you probably already had those thirty beers.

Now don't get me wrong...I still go to the Dub fairly frequently.  The staff there have become friends of mine and it is a great place to have a couple drinks.  Just don't expect to have fine dining in a drinking hall.

I'm not that crazy about the Dublin House yet I always seem to end up back here if I'm looking for a bar that is close by on the weekend. Recently remodelled, the Dublin House looks beautiful. The crowd is usually a mix of 20 somethings, 30 somethings and a handful of middle aged people.

In the summertime it's great to come here (early so you can a seat) and sit at a table out front with a pint of guiness (I prefer black and tan though) and people watch and hang out with friends.

It's right across from the Red Bank diner so you can get trashed then stumble across the street to get some food and sober up. That's a plus.

I might be coming from a town with too many options, but Dublin House just wouldn't cut it for me as a go-to bar. The Guinness is terrible, but that's not much of a surprise. The prices are like being in Manhattan, and the food seems a bit posh for a place that tries to be low-key.

I do like the outdoor seating, which has a good quality to it being in front instead of out back like most places. The people seemed very friendly as well.

I came back on a Friday night.  I didn't chance it by sitting at a table for the waitress to come by because that worked out so well last time.  Got a pint at the bar, still felt like I paid too much ($6 for a Smithwick's?!).  Some things don't change.

The back patio was a nice atmosphere, people standing around or sitting at tables and some watching the game on tv.  However I felt like a sheep in a pen -- the area is perfectly rectangular and fenced in, with 2 bouncers making sure we don't leave the premises with a drink in our hand(?).

It's a nice place, don't get me wrong, but too pricey.

Dublin House was terrible. Watered-down drinks, over-cooked food, and poor service make this restaurant a "must skip". I ordered a jack and coke that ended up being an expensive coke. The chicken fingers were over-cooked, which I'm pretty sure is near impossible. The teenager who waited on us was awkwardly absent most of the night, perhaps intimidated by the size of our group. Don't waste your time with this place.

The DUB! Red Banks finest traditional Irish Bar! Located in a huge Victorian house which is currently under major renovation, the bar is still open though... Large Long bar and restaurant downstairs, currently private room and small room w/ bar open to public on the weekends.

Wide grog (beer) selection, good grub and fun crowd. The way all the bars in RB should be ;)

The old Dublin I would have given 4 stars, but since the re-modeling it feels like what Disney World would think an Irish bar should look like. All the charm is gone of this great historic building, which is a real shame. The food is typical bar fare. Last time I was there they had taken "Suppers Ready" off the jukebox, so they really deserve one star. For better beer, better food, and a better crowd head down the street to Jamian's.

I've been to the Dublin House Pub a couple of times. It has an old feel when you walk into the joint. The first time I ate there I sat in the dining room area and wolfed down a Shepherd's Pie. It was not bad - but I've had better.

The second time I sat at the bar. The music was waaaaayyyyyyyyy to loud! And the cigarette smoke was disgusting. I finished my beer and my single malt and got the hell out of there.

If not for the friendly bartender this would get less stars. Big plus is they constantly show soccer which I love! Food is eh. Had the corned beef melt and it was decent. My gf had the chicken wrap. She said it was ok but it was falling apart as she was eating it. Beers were cold. They even had Peroni on tap...yup an Italian beer which I love, in an Irish pub! Definitely check it out if you are in RB. Otherwise RB was an absolute waste of time and very disappointing despite my partner in crime.

Went this Saturday night (7/9/11) to see The Wannabes play in the Streetlife concert series.  The outdoor dining is quite pleasant.  The wine choices are basic, but I found the house sauvignon blanc fine, although I prefer mine colder.  I have no idea how much I paid because there was no wine menu available.  We ordered the sampler which had chicken fingers (4), fried shrimp (3), potato skins (4), and moz sticks (3)... plus we ordered a serving of buffalo chicken fingers.  Let me tell you that McDonald's serves a better piece of chicken - ours were pressed so thin that they were purely dried out, putting a knife to them did not do justice... they were practically chicken jerky (including the buffalo ones) and tasteless.  They were so bad that we had to spend another $4 on a side of fries because my daughter refused to eat more than one bite, which she spit out.  Our server was polite, a bit too young to "get" us older gals and our sense of humor... service was fine, though, since we were in no rush.  The hostess was also polite and did her best to accommodate us with a table as soon as she could.

Would not go back to eat, ever.  Would go back to have a drink or 2 outside.  There's a reason why many people are not eating here - we just assumed that they were early diners.

I agree with Megan!  She couldn't have explained it better.  The Dublin House is surely a "homey" place to sit back with some close friends and chit chat while having a few drinks.   The lighting is dim in certain areas, and it gives the sitting rooms a nice feel.  It kinda makes you feel far from home, in which feels good sometimes during a night out.

Some of the unfriendliest bartenders I've ever encountered. (they've improved somewhat -- gotten some new bartenders, so I upped my original review a star). Yes, it can be fun in warm weather to sit outside, but it gets a huge crowd of knuckleheads.
The bar makeover just looks silly -- like someone said before about what Disney might think an Irish pub might look like. I have no problem with the Guinness -- not sure what others are writing about. But many drinks are served in plastic cups -- how fancy! There really isn't a good bar in Red Bank and this one is right up there with the not good bars.

For the little town of Red Bank, it's my bar pick in town.  It has a more laid back feel and the outdoor patios are wonderful for the nice weather.  It doesn't have a wide selection of micro brews or anything, but it does have Guinness and that is all one can ask for in any Irish Pub.

Nice pub for a drink, basic Irish pub beer selection. Nice outdoor seating in the front courtyard and in the back outside bar.  I really loved the old Dublin House's charm and menu which has been completely remodeled right down to removing the wooden siding, the inside has also been updated throughout.  The new kitchen serves very large portions of food, but unfortunately the quality reminds me of a Aramark cafeteria (think mushy fish and chips.) I say stick to the drink and enjoy this staple of Red Bank.

Best pattio in Red Bank! Most of the time there is nice mix of people unlike the pretentious crowd you get at Red, Downtown or Ashes. The drinks are pricy and don't eat the gross food. This is the best Red Bank has to offer. See you there.

Love the interior design and Victorian feel.  Has plenty of outdoor seating for the summer months and serves a delicious Guinness for those winter months.  Succeeds in trying to capture the feel of a real Irish bar, and draws a friendly and low-key crowd (most of the time).  My favorite bar in Red Bank.
