This place is a trap!!!!! I've been turned to the dark side. I used to be one of those people who wore black flip flops or chucks, with everything, and said FU to anyone who gave me a hard time about it. But then, DSW opened here.

I started trying on high heels, thank god I can't walk in them, or else I would literally have billions of shoes and officially be a "girly girl". EW!

I haven't been to any other DSW locations, but in comparison to payless, or shoe pavillion this place is much better. However, I feel like I either have a very popular foot size, or need to come in once a week, because often they do not have the size I want in the shoe I want. Alas, I'm too broke at the moment to do much else but try them on and pretend I could actually afford extra shoes just to look cute.

I've been a DSW girl for many, many years... back when they first started in the downtown crossing area of Boston.

But this store in Marina doesn't have much. No second floor or widely varied selection. I'm really surprised because I've been to much smaller towns that have 3-story DSWs. What gives Marina del Rey?

The selection wasn't great (not a lot of variation lately -- same shoes, row after row in slightly different muted colors), the prices were really unimpressive (the cheapest I saw was $49.99)... but the service people were great and very friendly. So 3-pts for them.

I should also note that they don't carry the best brands at this store. It's all Madden Girls and Bandolino crap. Not one single Charles David, Ferragamo, Vivier or...anything! This is Southern California, goddamn it! Give me my under-priced designer shoes. Steve Madden and Nine West do NOT count as Designer, Designer Shoe Warehouse.

Lots of cute shoes in 10's and 11's (yay!  hard to come by at some locations) and the nicest staff I've ever experienced at a DSW - pleasant but not pushy, helpful but not annoying.
Prices weren't anything to write home about, but I guess you can't win 'em all...

Why oh why did my cousin turn me onto you? Why can't I ever just go in and come out empty handed? I wander around for over an hour just to come out and realize that just because I have 4 pairs of shoes it does not justify sacrificing my rent.

But like a drug you have me hooked.

Why I dislike DSW: The prices are ridiculous.  Any pair of shoes in here, you are GUARANTEED to find at least 30% cheaper online (be it Amazon, ebay, etc.)

Why I give it 3 stars: Because you can come in here, try on shoes, and then find them online for 30% cheaper.

Their sale sections are really not that great (nothing ever has a purple 75% off sticker, they all have green 20% off stickers, and usually they are sales on shoes that are already $100+ to begin with).

Their selection of accessories isn't that awesome, and a wallet was $30.  I thought DSW was supposed to be "DISCOUNT," hence their name?

It is a clean shop though, and they have nice staff.  Weird clientle in the middle of the day though -- one lady and her kid insisted on taking the foam inserts to the shoes with them.  Another lady was smelling all the shoes.

I don't have many other DSW store experiences to compare this one to, but I have been really happy coming here.  So much, that I've walked out at least $100 poorer each time, but richer in my shoe collection ;)

I am usually not a superstitious person by nature, but lemme tell y'all... my Friday the 13th yesterday was craptacular.  I repeat, crap. mother. tactular.

* My client bitched me out for half an hour proclaiming that I'm not giving her enough "attention".

* My assistant had a temper tantrum / meltdown because there was a ridiculous paper jam in the copier. (I actually could empathize with her... it's happened to me and I've ended up yelling at the copier a number of times throughout my life)

* My ex (whom I was completely over and done with... a year ago - we're still friends) his uh... "unstable" ex (who he dated after me) sent me yet another harassing e-mail TO MY WORK about how he was cheating on me the entire time we were together. (I could really give a flying crap what he did.  I have zero emotion towards the whole relationship)  I again ignored her and forwarded him the e-mail.

And the icing on the cake...

* Walking down the hallway in the office, my stiletto heel broke. Just snapped off.

I seriously wanted to crawl under my desk and burst into tears.

That's fine if I wasn't meeting anyone for the rest of the day, but I had a client scheduled to come in at 6pm and I was over the top slammed.   Thankfully, DSW is 5 minutes away from work.  I used duct tape to tide me over for the afternoon. It actually worked but must have looked seriously moronic.

I ran to the store at my first opportunity... and was greeted by a nice man asking me if I needed assistance.

Me: "Closed toe stilettos" (I know, boring. We have a strict dress code at work)

Nice Salesperson: "On this aisle to your right.  Don't bother on the other side because those are evening shoes.  If you need help with your size, let me know!"

I grabbed a pair of black Tahari stilettos and on my way to the register, grabbed a pair of cute Michael Kors (non-work) shoes!  Score!  Both were great deals and I actually found my size.

The ladies at the cash register were very polite... they hustled to get me out of there quickly when I told them I was in a hurry.

I thanked them and asked them to throw away the broken shoes... and the box.  DSW was the bright spot to my Friday the 13th!

Ding Dang Y'all!

I came in here tonight to use the restroom since Barnes and Noble doesn't have one and much to my surprise, this is a great store. I've passed by this place many times and didn't think I was missing anything. Boy was I wrong. They have all types of shoes here and this store is quite neat. Unlike Shoe Pavilion. They also have a better selection of shoes than SP. Styles to cater to anyone. Very bright and roomy. The aisles are not narrow and there seemed to be enough people working the floor unlike, well never mind.

I will be coming back here to get some work shoes since they have a great selection. I have no doubt I will find something. Funny how when you're not looking, you find exactly what you need.

Update 12/31/07 - I found the cutest black lace flats for $30 (tax included), it was the last pair and it was in my size. How often does that actually happen? Hot damn! You'd be hard pressed to find someone who couldn't find something here. My ass is going back tomorrow!

ahhh ya ya shoossssss gimmee gimmeee!!!

Okay clearly I have a problem. I like shoes too much maybe even more than I love shopping and sales. Combine these things and I go into sensory overload then fall into my Friday night shoe shopping bliss.

(Attention Men if you are single and looking this store is chalk full of not only shoes but girls a plenty and not the single over 40 divorcee crowd)

Now what was I, a purty gal doing shoe shopping on a Friday night? Undercover reconnaissance work of course! Just kidding. Nate was at the happiest place on earth and so was I...but in another sense...hehe

So they are having one of those super sale on the sale section so I hit that up first. All clearance shoes with their pretty little color coded markdowns all have an additional 30% off!! What you say?! Too good to be true?! Yup its true I tell ya! Marc Jacobs pumps originally $700 down to $400 then 70% off then an additional 30% I  s*!t  you not.

I walked out of there with a brand spankin new pair of black patent leather Steven round toe pin-up lookin pumps (I will never have enough of patent leather) for a sweet $89 and a pair of Rocketdog flipflops for $10 cuz summer is a come-in woo hoo!!

What a great addition to my neighborhood!!

DSW Shoes has arrived.

Located on Maxella (between Lincoln and Glencoe) right below Tower Records, you'll be in shoe horn heaven once you step into this HUGE store.

Set up like Payless...BUT...offering designer labels at everyday discounted prices, you can shop to your heel's content and avoid pushy sales people because you help yourself.

Since its inception in 1991, opening its first store in Dublin, Ohio, DSW has grown to 213 stores from coast to coast.

Typical DSW stores have over 30,000 pairs of shoes in more than 2,000 styles displayed on the selling floor.  With weekly deliveries of new styles, there's always something to discover.

To make it even better, they offer a DSW Rewards program.  The more you spend, the better the benefits.

Imelda Marcus, eat your heart out!

DSW in Marina Del Rey has arrived. YES!!!

Espadrilles, loafers, sexy come F*#% me pumps, and ballet flats are here. YES!
Designers like Kenneth Cole, Coles Haan, Steve Madden and more are available. AAhhhhh... Retail therapy. I love shoes. They make me  happy. I love this store. I came to DSW for some cute, comfy work shoes and had no problem finding the shoes I liked in my 9.5 size. This DSW has a good selection of shoes for both men and woman and is well organized. Good brand names, good prices and an abundant clearance selection are available here. Imelda Marcus would be proud of this store.

Oh what fun on a Friday night. Combine this with Pinkberry just a hop, skip & away & I am one happy camper. Sneakers, pumps, mules, sandals, flip flops, even some designer shoes & purses behind the counter.

They have something for almost everyone, except childrens' shoes. The kids I saw were having a blast, giving advice to their parents, "mommy, get these ones!"

This used to be a Tower Record store.  Tower filed for bankruptcy and we get to enjoy shoe shopping instead.  Not that I wished Tower any ill-will.  Afterall, I used to buy Led Zeppelin and Quicksilver Messenger Service albums from the original store in San Francisco.

I digress.  There's a DSW in San Francisco, but I like this one better.  It has a better selection of shoes, maybe because it's in LA.  Whatever the reason, I got me a new pair of shoes and they were on sale.

Ha, every time I go shoe shopping, Kelly's shoes song pops in my head.

I am looking at some ugly heels.

"These shoes suck!"

Some cute skimmers.

"These shoes rule!"

It is DSW so there are some really bizarre neon colored things.

"These shoes suck!"

But love, love, love the plaid pumps.

"These shoes rule!"

And to any boy that says I have too many pairs shoes.

"Stupid boy!  Shut up!  Let's get some shoes!  Let's party."

Overall, this is not the biggest DSW I've ever been to but it did the trick while waiting for my room to be ready at the Marriot Courtyard next door.

You've been doing a lot of shopping lately.
Look! Most of my clothes are somewhere between Georgia and California.  I'm starting a new job on Monday,  And I don't have to explain myself to you!

Walk into DSW and go straight to the back.  That's where the clearance section is.  I love it back there!  I got a pair of suede Steve Madden wedges that were 80% off - they cost me $11!

For me DSW is not the place to go when you necessarily NEED something specific its more for maintenance.  Because having to go through all those shelves and missing sizes can be annoying when you're in a rush,  It is better to go when you're in a leisurely mood and can take your time and stroll the aisles.  You'll find the best deals that way.

And sign up for the Rewards!  You' actually get gift certificates in the mail and they send you a special little surprise on your birthday!

The best place to go if you want to get a deal on shoes! It's huge and has the perfect shoes for that special occasion. Prices vary but I find it's less than the big department store prices.  The name brand shoes are inexpensive and look great.

I was first introduced to DSW in Maryland around 3 years ago, and I had no idea they existed out here. So imagine my pure delight at discovering they are all over Los Angeles. This latest location in Marina del Rey is a nice sized location, and each time I have walked in I have walked away with at least one pair of shoes. DSW was also where my first hand bag was from so though they have incredible shoe selection, don't forget to spend some time with the purses and bags in the front. The clearance racks with color coded pricing are where the real savings come into play.
