Reading the reviews, I decided to wait a couple of months so that they could get the kinks out and I'm glad I did.

The good.  I was able to get 10 pieces dry cleaned for .99 each.  Being on my 'recession vacation' this was a true godsend.

The bad.  I dropped my clothes off on a Tuesday morning.  The earliest I was able to pick up was Friday after 5!  As large as the place is, you wouldn't think that it would take THREE days for 10 simple pices of clothing to be cleaned.  Meh.

In short, I did get ALL of my clothes back in good clean condition; however; I can't see myself coming here on the regular.  CD One offers same day delivery at a cheaper price and I'm pretty much happy with their service but if DCD has another 'special', I'll give 'em a go.

Okay, I went here and got a few things cleaned. They're really all about the discounts and coupons. I just don't like to patronize the giant corporate chains.

It just seems like too much space for a dry cleaner. There are so many more interesting things that I was hoping for to go in this space. A bookstore. A boutique. Some tiny, interesting food joint (we could use a Middle Eastern place now that Habibi's has closed). A bar. Something.

There's already a PERFECTLY GOOD dry cleaner in this 'hood, right down the street - Circle Cleaners. It's owned by an Asian couple, I've been going there for 12 years. He's weathered two other dry cleaners in the area closing down, and I want him to still be able to make a damn living. ONE IS ENOUGH.

Now - what, the big, soulless corporate outfit is coming in, and the little family-owned store will go out of business? Not if I can help it.

Go away. Die. CLOSE. You're not getting me as a regular customer. Actually, the Andersonville/Edgewater Beach neighborhood is not known for chain-friendliness, so I will cheerfully wait for this place to shut down. Crap. This really messes up my chi.

This DryClean Direct just opened a couple of months ago and since they had a promotional offer ($.99 per item), we immediately jumped on it.  The first time I went there, it seemed like they were still sorting out the kinks and the place was completely disorganized with piles of clothing on the floor.  I was actually worried that my things would get lost.

Came back a few days later to pick up the clothes and I find out that their computer system was down.  I had to wait a while to pick my clothes up since they had to make some phone calls.  Anyways, got home, found out that we were missing a few items.  I returned and luckily they found them.  One was still on the rack and the other, a down jacket, was lost in a clothes pile on the floor since they don't do down.  If you bring in a material that they don't dry clean, they just toss it on the floor without any sort of tracking.....no name, no number, nothing!  The jacket was just sitting there, collecting dust.  It was dirtier than when I dropped it off.  Gee, thanks for letting me know that it was just sitting there.

So, the next time around, we decided to give them another chance since they were offering that $.99 deal again and guess what....the same thing happens.  We were missing an item and had to return back.

Next time, I'll just go to CD One Price Dry Cleaners south on Broadway even if I have to pay a little more.  DryClean Direct is completely unreliable and just not worth the hassle.

However, on the upside, the people working there are nice and I like that they have a coffee machine and offer free bottles of water .

Unfortunately, we had the same experience as the last reviewer - they lost a shirt! You pay in advance and they have an itemized descriptions of your clothes but somehow they still manage to lose stuff. That has never happened to me with a dry cleaner.

Also, they don't keep your stuff together so out of the 15 items we were picking up, they took about 10 minutes to go through finding them in bunches of 2 and 3.

They called the next day to say the shirt "was ready to be picked up," not "sorry we lost it, we'll comp you for it," etc.

It was new, had a promotion, and looked promising. BOY was I wrong!

So many things to hate about this place. I've only walked into this place 3 times, each time to be upset and disappointed for different reasons.

Strike One: Promised clothes on a certain date and they were not ready. Ugh! I really wanted that coat before my trip...

Strike Two: I tried to drop off clothes, but my credit card didn't work. I tried a few others, and their system appeared to be down. "Come back another time."

Silly me, I actually came back the following week.

Strike Three: I finally get to pay with my credit card, and the receipt machine chokes! The clerk spends about 5  minutes trying to fix the problem--not even telling me what is going on. I wait patiently, and I don't even get a receipt! He gives me the stub for the order and tells me that that is all I need to pick up my clothes. THEN the next day, I get a phone call from them, asking me to confirm what my clothes were because their computer system went down.

NEVER GO HERE. Skip the temptation.
