6 reviews for Dry Dock Waterfront Grill
I work in a seafood restaurant; I hope that lends some credibility to my review of this place.
We had a great experience! It's a little unassuming; we parked our car on the wrong side of the Marina there and had to do a little searching to find the entrance. That's alright; I'm not a very smart guy, so I'm used to walking a lot.
The seating was great. We sat a stone's throw from Sarasota Bay and had a phenomenal view.
The food was very good! Like I said, I work in a local seafood joint so I've eaten more grouper than your average shark (assuming they eat grouper). It was as good as grouper gets, but the BREADING they use at Dry Dock is F***ING GREAT. Sometimes you need profanity to get a point across. The calamari was breaded in the same thing and I wolfed it down like a beast.
You're going to crap yourself when you read this next line: they have the best marinara sauce I've ever eaten in my life. For real,
The service was good, the bill was decent, the food was great, and the view was unparalleled. Do yourself a favor and drive just a little further past St. Armands and have yourself a really great meal.
You always take a risk returning to one of your favorite restaurants. Will it be as good?
Dry Dock has maintained, just short of two years from my first visit. The wait for a table was double what it was in 2007, yet still a reasonable 20 or so minutes. We could have had immediate seating had we chosen to dine inside, but why would anyone do that, short of rain, when there's such a beautiful setting outdoors just a few feet from the waterfront?
I ordered the exact same thing, the grouper, and loved it. Nice portions filled us up quite adequately. Our server was a little off her game; we never received the appetizers we'd ordered, but the food and the setting more than made up for a couple of minor miscues. Hey, I'm on vacation; I'm relaxed.

Servers work their ass off here, only way to the outdoor patio is up and down a flight of stairs. Our lunch was good, service was great. View of the harbor outstanding.
Food could use a little more flavor, but other than that great.
This place is the BEST place for grouper. If you go on a fishing charter and you catch some you can send it back to the kitchen and they will cook up your catch. They get most of their fish from the local fishermen. The grouper is so fresh it's amazing.
It's family owned and one of the best restaurants in Sarasota hands down. (coming from a former local)
Had a delicious dinner here with excellent service . . . kid friendly, too, with savvy servers moving quickly to make sure we had bread and serving the entrees for the little ones first. A terrific meal all around!
One of my favorites...hidden..unassuming, with great food, nice view...mostly known to locals...hopefully it will stay that way
