for what it is, this is seriously the best place i have stayed. sure, i have stayed in some of the nicest, most hip places around but for a night in st. louis where all we needed was a place to crash, this was it!
it was very reasonably priced.
the staff was nice and accommodating beyond words.
there is free popcorn and fountain soda in the lobby!
you get 3 free drinks during happy hour!
you also get an hour of long distance calling for free.
bottom line, if you are in town for a wedding like we were, or a concert, ballgame or something similar, book your stay here! they are so nice and great that you will feel right at home.
I'm giving this four star rating on the basis that this is the nicest two star hotel I've stayed at. When I first walked in I was nervous because this is an old hotel and everything is dark wood, floral, green marble, etc. Not exactly what I look for in hotel decor. However, what the decor lacks, the hotel staff and amenities makes up for!
The room was what I expected with floral decor, green carpet, and older furnishings but the bed was comfortable, there was FREE wifi, and the bathroom was just fine.
I checked out both the happy hour and continental breakfast and both were good. They had decent wines at the happy hour (for free) and the breakfast was a hot breakfast which you don't see at too many two star hotels.
Finally, what really pushed my rating to four stars, was the hotel staff. EVERYONE was friendly and went out of their way to make your experience as nice as possible. They even called after you checked in to see if there was anything they could do. Nice touch for sure.
