Great ocean views from every room. Nice beach with easy access from the hotel. Porches provide great light and a nice ocean breeze. The room itself was lack luster but definitely large. They include a full kitchen and decently sized bathroom. No complaints on cleanliness or service, only stayed 1 night. I'd rather stay here again than any other place in Florence, the beach is worth it.
Restaraunt:
Avoid the mac n cheese if you are looking for traditional cheddar. Their homemade ranch dressing is by far one of the best ranch's I've ever had so be sure to get a house salad. Minimal veg choices (as expected).

The Driftwood totally reminds me of THAT hotel in Vegas . . . . y'know, the one that used to be super hot and fancy when it opened up in the 70's, and now it's just old news? Yeah, that one. The oceanview was great and I really enjoyed the balcony. Everything could use a bit of an update, but I guess it had "Beach-y Charm"? It'd also be nice if they lowered their prices a bit because they were sure charging quite a bit of money for something that was awfully comprable to a regular 'ol hotel down closer to town. While I didn't have a negative time here, I probably wouldn't stay again knowing that we weren't getting too much for our money. Maybe it would be better for a family reunion or several groups of people, but just for a couple, it wasn't really the right fit.
And now for a review of the restaurant/lounge:
Being from Seattle, I know my good seafood from my bad seafood. This was definitely BAD seafood. The Salmon was terribly undercooked and tremendously overpriced. If their food was as good as the menu claimed it was going to be, this place would be amazing because the view of the sunset through the big bay windows is a sight to behold . . . . but the presentation and cooking skills were lacking :( Thankfully my dinner date/roadtrip buddy and I ordered some Mac 'n Cheese to-go because THAT was effing delish and totally hit the spot after finishing a bottle of wine and wandering around on the beach for a couple of hours!

Location, location, location. That's all this place has going for it. I can't complain about the view, but I could go on and on about the rooms, restaurant (breakfast wasn't THAT bad), and the PRICE. I heard complaints about the "free" continental breakfast too. If I was in the area again, I'd stay almost anywhere else in town first. Then I'd check Newport.
This place should be renamed Motel 6 on drugs at the beach. Granted the view is worth a million dollars, but I haven't stayed in a place this run down in years. I would rate the accommodations slightly below an old motel 6. The carpet needs replacing, cots would have been more comfortable than the bed we had, the bedding was around 40 thread count at best, the bath towels were the size of hand towels and about the softness of 80 grit sandpaper. This hotel is poorly maintained at best, and needs a serious refurbishment to bring it up to par with others in the area. The Holiday Inn Express would be a better choice, and just smell the ocean, or in old town, there is a new Inn right on the river that is much nicer.

This is a lovely place to stay. The beach is right there, outside your door! The view is wonderful, and you get your own little balcony to enjoy coffee on in the morning!
Creme de la creme of lodging in Florence. 180 degree views of the Pacific. Indoor pool/ Spa. The beach is inches away. For a late night adventure jump off the second story balcony and go running into the ocean with friends and Sparks.
