Got a great deal on priceline for a little more than $100 for the hotel. Good thing the price, bad thing...well ofcourse priceline rooms have to have something wrong with them. My issue was the temperature. It was 10degrees outside, but my room was 80 degrees...fail. However, the place looked cool inside the decor of the lobby was interesting. My room looked like the inside of spaceship. My bed had blue lights below it, and I thought at anytime my bed would take off for outer space. They put oranges on my pillow which I thought was nice.
The bathroom was clean, but really kind of small. The standing shower that had no barriers except the shower curtains which was two steps away from the toilet.
Anyway, overall, great experience, even though I slept in a sauna. The location was wonderful and the rooms were clean. For hotels in NYC, sometimes you get stuck in some really shady, dirty places. With that being said, I couldn't of asked for a better hotel (but maybe a different room). -

My short stay at Dream New York was enjoyable. The room was a bit small but served its purpose and was comfortable enough for two people. We stayed on the top floor, just below the penthouse, and were able to hear some music from their penthouse bar/club. Guests are allowed to enter the club for free, and it was crowded when we checked it out. We ended up meeting some other hotel guests and checked out their suite, which was very nice.
Its uptown location is nice, as it is only minutes away from Times Square, Broadway, Columbus Circle etc.. I can't help but feel like you might be able to do a bit better for the price, but if you can find a good deal and like this hotel's location, it's definitely a great candidate for a place to stay. -

Rooftop bar review here.
Wow, I didn't know it was exclusive -- maybe I'm cooler than I think I am. (Some reviewers said it was hard to get in.) Went here for a celebratory cocktail hour for a business function. The views were lovely, and it was a gorgeous Autumn night. We stood, which suited me just fine, but I think seating outside was limited.
Five stars for atmosphere. I have no idea what the prices were, because I didn't pay, nor did I care. I didn't eat here. I didn't stay here. Five stars for a place to feel fabulous and toast an occasion.
P.S. - If you're claustrophobic like I am, you'll want to manage your trip up the stairs in a crowd, because I got a little nervous in that tight space. -

I did not like this hotel very much. The room was very, very small, dark, and very poorly arranged. There was a bed, a desk, and a dresser/minibar. And only one chair! If the room had been laid out better, an extra chair could've easily fit. Oh, and the problem with the dresser/minibar was explained at the front desk: "be careful not to bump the minbar, it is on a motion sensor and you might be charged for the contents even if you don't eat them." But how could I avoid bumping it? There was about ONE INCH of passing space between it and the bed. Really? I am begging Dream Hotel to rearrange room 816! Also did not know that it was the dresser drawers until checkout time, due to our fear of touching the darned thing! Dream Hotel, makes some customer-friendly changes!

Sigh. I want to like this place but I just can't. I have stayed here multiple times and each time I say that I am going to look somewhere else next time I am in the city. This time I mean it. Yes, the location is great, rooms are so-so (if you get the suite) but other than that the service is poor... I have never been greeted with a smile, nor with any door service. Do they pay their bell hops to just stand there and look at you? The room service leaves a lot to be desired, no movie options, you have to pay for wireless and I never get a good night's sleep here. The roof top bar is probably the best thing about this place. Trust me, take some time and do your research before staying here.

Really, really rough!
I have stayed at more hotels than I care to admit after years of travel for work. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world, and some of the worste flee bitten dives getting around. I was really surprised at how poor the rooms are for a $400 a night hotel. I was originally in a room that had no heat, I asked to move, and they moved me, however when I got back to the room after meetings all day some bright spark had set the temp to.............. wait for it......... 95 degrees! I cant help but feel that it was intentional??????? In anycase I asked for the tech to come up because now the aircon doesn't work! For the next 3 nights the coolest I could get the room was 81 degrees.
In addition the staff are arrogant, and rude, and they come across like you aren't good enough to be there in the first place!
Stay at the W is my recommendation, they go all out for you, the rooms are better, the price is the same, and the aircon works!
Happy travels! -

If you are visiting NY and want a memorable lounge experience I would def.recommend the Dream Hotel rooftop bar. Expect $20+ drinks and a line outside for no reason. There are probably less pretentious places, but the view here is memorable.
The lobby is modern and walking in I felt suddenly energized, it is a very cool space. Immediately elevated to the rooftop bar.
There were large numbers of girls hunting in packs, looking damn good. Like ninjas, each girl in a minimally sized black dress. Is this an NY phenomenon? I need to start going to more expensive bars in LA to validate this.
Knocked a couple stars for slow bar service and all outside tables being reserved.
I would return here with a dependable wingman and see if I could capture a ninja with out having an address in Manhattan.
With so many options in NY, it is tough to return anywhere, and more than likely I will be out with my basically-married brother who lives in Brooklyn... Would look for other venues that are more laid back. -

After seeing the pictures of this hotel I was determined to stay here. But after reading the reviews of the spacing in rooms, I decided to go big and reserved a corner suite. My girlfriend and I definitely had plenty of room now with a bedroom, a lounge area, and 2 bathrooms (which both showers had 2 heads to create cross streams). But we spent the whole time in the bedroom so spending the money on the suite area was a waste, except for the 2 bathrooms so we each could do our business in private.
The ambiance is very cool looking, and that's what you are paying for...and you are paying a good amount. Room was very clean, staff is very nice, but the room service was lacking because they always forgot something for our breakfast.
Rooftop bar is a great place to either warm up for the night or end the night. Fun crowd, great bartenders and staff. -

Snarky fake chicks manning the check in desk. We flew in and was told that the only available room at 4:30PM was on the second floor. I had a hard time believing her so I told her to give us a different one so we wouldn't have to suffer through noise. She then tells me that she needs to verify with housekeeping on if the other room on floor 10 is done. 15 minutes later, no call back from housekeeping; I stated loudly that I had a hard time believing that checking in at 4:30 and not 11:30 and there were NO OTHER rooms available. Really... You've run out of EVERY ROOM by 4:30?! Ironically a room on floor 6 magically opened up.
Idiots.
Bathroom was amazingly small; room was adequate for NYC sizes. We slept well and Jenn W ended up snuggling in the cozy beds. Docking stars for the lack of service and tact by the staff.
Location was convenient to Times Square and the subway. -

This was a great hotel. Got a good rate on priceline's published rate for a king bedroom. The room was comfortable and welcoming. The only problem was that the thermostat in the room was difficult to work with. I followed the directions, but the room was still too warm. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay.

It ain't easy getting into parties at Dream, but my dancing partner obviously knows how to A)either convince, or B) shake $100 bills into a big sweaty palm very well. I'll opt for B--it sounds cooler.
So we go in, a party downstairs to the left in the dining area. Too small for my taste. Head up to the penthouse. Ordered drinks.
Me: Water's fine.
Him to big-titted bartender: Let me get a rum & coke, and a water.
10+ mins later...
Me to her: We've been here 15 mins. I'd like our drinks please.
Her: blahblahlahlahblah, bullshit (Or at least that's how I heard it.)
*we get drinks. I sip. make a disgusted face*
Me: What is this?
Him: It's water.
Me: Nooo... taste it. It's fkn vodka!
Him: Vodka?!
him to bar-lady: This is vodka. I said WATEEER.
bar-lady: Water?! I thought you said 'vodka water'!
me: 'Vokda water'? You thought I wanted VODKA with WATER???
....Blondes. (Translation: You dumb bitch.)

On to the venue itself:
AWESOME! Amazing view of Times Square. Super cramped (unless you count the stellar roofdeck), KILLER DJ, and no Lindsay Lohan. All plusses in my book.
I heard Jay-Z greatest hits, dancehall, and some of THE BEST songs of the 90s... even "Let Me Clear my Throat" & "(Baby I )Got Your Money"!

FOREST HILLS, NY
The Dream hotels are owned by the same company which owns Travelodge and Howard Johnson. The basics are equivalent to a Travelodge but they've layered on some theatrical props to give the illusion that this hotel is worthy of the upmarket boutique prices they charge.
The hotel is definitely tourist class, nothing higher. It would like to be a W when it grows up. The rooms are "modern" in that they are tiny blank white boxes with furnishings which have pretensions to Italian design. The wall art, like the lobby decor, is neither hip nor eclectic, just bizarre - see attached photos. There is no storage, so plan on living out of your suitcase. The entirety of the storage space in the bathroom is a 5" deep shelf which spans the sink. The bathroom appeared clean but the tiles were black with mold.
There is no security. The roof top bar is open to the public. All the elevators which access the bar also access the other floors. Anyone who does not appear to be grungy (in an un-hip way) can walk in and go up to any floor without being stopped.
Be prepared to hail taxis, open the heavy main doors yourself, and to lug your own luggage. No doormen were ever seen during my stay. Car valets, yes. Doormen, no. One car valet, standing inside the main door, watched me try to open the door while holding packages and an umbrella without bothering to assist.
The other hotel staff were okay, though not especially friendly. Check out is old-school - go downstairs and wait your turn behind the tourist hordes. There is no express check out. Plan accordingly.
Stay here if you are in town to party and/or if you want access to the roof top bar on weekends and don't want to deal with the velvet rope. Avoid if you have any desire to sleep before 1am, have claustrophobia, might need a taxi, or are used to service/amenities/decor in hotels such as the Tribeca Grand or Sofitel. -
Review from Diandra D.
New York, NY
I've been told that it's never a good idea to write or speak in anger, that you should permit yourself the opportunity to cool off first, lest you speak impulsively and thus, not objectively. Well, a full week and a half has passed since the debacle that was the Dream Hotel, and unfortunately, I'm still as upset about it now as I was then.
To commemorate the shared birthdays of my husband and brother, we got a deal on a one bedroom suite at the Dream hotel the night of the festivities. We arrived at the hotel about 40 minutes early for our reservation. The guy at the front desk was completely out of it; he lacked any kind of enthusiasm and was not at all knowledgeable about the hotel's amenities (or, if he was aware of them, he didn't feel like sharing said information).
We were told to return at 3 (official check-in time) so we went for a drink at Serafina and returned promptly at 3. At that time, we were met by a different receptionist who did not know that we had been checked in. She told us that our room was not yet ready because the people who stayed in the room the night before had thrown a crazy party and housekeeping would require fifteen additional minutes to clean the room. We were upset, but waited.
At the end of the fifteen minute period, the receptionist took us aside and again told us about how the room was a mess because of the people who had stayed there the night before. The room wouldn't be ready for 45 minutes. We were asked how we would be compensated for the inconvenience (we had plans that needed to be pushed back because we couldn't get to our room in time). The receptionist said she would tell the manager the situation and she would speak to us when she was back in the office.
Fast forward to when the room is finally ready. We were told by the receptionist that the manager was busy and couldn't speak to us, but she would give us free breakfast vouchers for the following morning. We were escorted to our room and slightly horrified by what we found: a burn mark and pieces of hair in the couch, holes punched in the walls, grime on the tables, multiple bottles and snacks missing from the mini-bar. We immediately showed housekeeping to ensure that we wouldn't be held responsible for anything. We then called the front desk to speak with them about the problems, but were immediately forwarded to housekeeping without so much as a word.
My brother and I marched downstairs to speak directly with someone. This time the manager had time to speak with us. She offered us a standard room for $206, claiming it was a discounted price... which it wasn't ... at all! She made no efforts to compensate us for the inconvenience or offer us any sort of deal. We decided to cut our losses and asked for a full refund. We couldn't get out of the hotel fast enough. It was simply the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. -

This place is TRIPY.
You feel like you're in the twilight zone when you're here. I have never seen the guest rooms but have only been through the lobby and to thier rooftop bar. The lobby is filled with black and white walls and mirrors and a giant fish tank in the center of the room. The fish take extends throughout several floors. It's a fun place to walk around and especially after a drink or two you could go a lil crazy at The Dream Hotel. -

After missing our flight out of NYC, we had to find a HOTEL to crash for another night.
Dream Hotel was our pick. I like the white colors they had going on contrasting with the blue lights. It makes the place very DREAMY :) -

Very cute and sorta cool boutique hotel midtown west Manhattan. I stayed there for a week. As I arrived they upgraded me so props to that.
Cool fishtank in the lobby.
Room was large and airy. Well decorated. Bed was ultra comfy. Not sure about the neon blue lights everywhere but it was different to say the very least.
Staff is very ultra friendly. Loved that.
There's a rooftop bar which I didn't go to but saw a bunch of drunk, good looking people in the elevator going there everyday. So I may hut it next time.
I did go to the bar downstairs alone one night while waiting for a friend. Forgot what it's called. I sat at the bar and the owner was there with a girl and they both hit on me and gave me free drink passes. So hey.. props for that too.
I'd stay there again.
Not a family hotel. def. but fun place for young people. -

The Terminal 5 post show amazingness lead me to Dream Hotel where my friends and I decided to grab a quick drink before it was time to go home. Service was incredible and the view from a hotel roof in mid town Manhattan cannot get any more picturesque.
Little upscale if your coming from a concert, but a laid back environment with good tunes. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area. -

Dream Hotel I would not recommend.
But Please note the Staff and service is nice! they are helpful and will help you out
Decor and room
Not appropriate for kids or family - very small rooms -
Lights of the room are dark or fluorescent - something like flashy - Even with your girlfriend it is kind of weird lights and choice
elevators are very old - even though they just renovated the hotel
Room - Flat screen tv - small room - very small and very small bathroom
Cleanliness it is ok - I have seen better but ok
not coffee maker
Fridge included - did not see vending machine
Gym
small gym but if you request in the lobby they give you access to gold gym 2 blocks away
Staff
Nice - helpful
Price :
Requested a room for the 2 adults - they gave us a room with 1 king bed! after my reservation - Then I told them I need another bed to be included they have requested a 90$ + per night!!! extra so instead of paying 310$ I am paying 400$ a night for a single room with 2 beds. At this price I can get a 4 star hotel
Location
is excellent

Review from Patti V.
San Luis Obispo, CA
I'm only one night into a 4 night stay and I've already spoken with the manager about a few things.
First impression was good, nice lobby, friendly front desk staff who were attentive to me as I approached the desk for check-in.
My room, #1016 was clean, had a bit of a perfumey smell but looked nice with the glow of the blue lights. My window actually looked out upon the city rather than a brick wall as in many hotels in NYC.
The bed is amazingly comfortable and there are a variety of pillows to choose from. I think I woke several times in the night just to try them all. The woman who cleaned my room was very nice and appreciative of the gratuity I handed her rather than waiting until the end of my stay to leave a tip.
Okay, now the negatives. When I called to book this hotel I asked specifically if there was an ellyptical machine in the work out room and was told yes. I was looking at their sister hotel, Night, which didn't have the work out room or rooftop bar, so I chose Dream.
Well, there isn't an ellyptical - and while they do have free passes to a gym nearby, that's not really as convenient for me as having the work out area in the hotel where I'm staying.
A rainy night tonight, I brought my computer up to the penthouse bar area, wanting to spend a little time writing, taking in the view while having a cocktail. As I stepped off the elevator I was told they were closed for a private party.
I was a bit peeved. Went down to let the manager know that two of the amenities that made me pick the hotel were not available. She graciously offered to offer me a drink on the house in the lobby bar. We went in there and were told they too, were closed for a private event.
Strike three! And only one night. Don't know what's in store the next three nights, but I'm sure it can't get any worse, right? -
Review from Dave H.
Despite its annoyances, Dream remains a well-appointed boutique hotel, suitable for a light pregaming session, seductive tryst, or even an upscale business stopover. What it isn't suitable for, is sleeping. Besides downing a coffee[1] late evening, we were given a room near the elevators. Add thin walls, errant down feathers poking through the mattress, and a spastic thermostat (guaranteeing our blankets would get kicked off, and multiple times), and it's no surprise that very little dreaming went on.
Our Lilliputian room did rock amenities like a flatscreen with cable, a king-sized bed, and a spotless bathroom with soft towels, a robe, and strong water pressure - impressive for a top floor room - plus Dream's trademark blue lighting, which lent an air of mystery to our stay.
Whether you stay here or not, take a stroll through Ava Lounge, Dream's rooftop venue.
[1] Actually an espresso martini. Yes, that was rather stupid of me.Listed in: NYC Lodgings

New York, NY
The location is great, it's a luxurious hotel, and it's surrounded by plenty of restaurants and contains a ton of amenities. The only problem are the rooms! The rooms are very tiny compared to other hotels in the same price range so I expected a lot more. Aside from the small rooms, the bathrooms are also very small with no tubs, the majority are stand up showers.
If you want a great location with plenty of places to go to that are nearby, then this is a great choice.
If you're like me and the size of the room and what's in it really matters, then you're going to be disappointed. -

Riverton, NJ
The Dream, Chelsea's latest 21st Century attraction, needs to figure out if it is going to be a night club or a hotel. It cannot be both. If you are on any floor above 6 in the North Tower, the Techno Music from the rooftop night club pounds into your room until 3 a.m. It is near impossible to sleep. And simply because you are a guest does not mean that you can get up and go to the night club. They LOOK at you and decide. Pretty people - mostly young girls in six-inch heels and short skirts - are allowed entry. Rick looking dudes as well. No others need apply.
The hotel is totally cool and GREAT looking. It is just not a place you go to sleep, which is generally what most hotels are for! -
Review from Kelly K.
This boutique hotel was just what I needed on my trip to NYC.
The location was great, the beds comfy, and the bathroom was actually spacious! While the bedroom was tiny, I wasn't spending a ton of time hanging out in the hotel.
Plus, the fish in the lobby are awesome. -

"Hold my heels while I get my groove on" I said. (or something of that nature). I wouldn't be able to recall after several drinks. By the way, I'm referring to getting my groove on in their Lounge and not their hotel rooms.
We headed to the Dream's hotel rooftop lounge after having a mediocre dinner at Serafina's (around the corner). It was a Thursday night, yet the Dream was packed to capacity. We had to party it up on the second floor as to their was no place to sit on the roof. Their drinks were pretty pricey but definitely worth it. The atmosphere is just so different, even though the lights aren't dimmed, it still has a vibrant cozy feeling. I must say that this place has the best crowd I've ever experienced in NY. Everyone was just classy and all about having a good time, no drama. I would love to return here again :-) -
Review from Carla L.
Had some friends coming into town for the weekend and they waited until the last minute to book a room. In fact, they called me the day before they were due to arrive to see if I could find them one. Of course, almost all of the affordable yet decent hotels in Manhattan were fully booked. However, I ended up finding a room at the Dream Hotel for $179.
It was a small but standard room with a very comfy bed, flat screen tv, and work desk. It was also very clean. It didn't have a view, but looked out onto a brick wall.
For the price, it's a great place to crash if you're making a quick trip into Manhattan and aren't spending much time in your room. You know, if you need a place to sleep and shower and want something clean and convenient. This hotel is perfect for that. I would book a room here again, and I would stay here myself. -

I was rather surprised by the size of my room -- certainly on the small side. Linens and pillows were nice and comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Booked the room on priceline for $200 -- and wouldn't even consider it a great value at that price. I might stay here again for that price, but think there are much better options to be had.
I also probably had the worst fakey fake glass of sauvignon blanc at the bar for $14 which knocked a half star off my review. Bad wine at that price is a crime.... -

People seem to either love or hate this hotel, and call me a geek, but I was totally stoked over the funky ambiance of this thoroughly renovated 1895 landmark building. I also liked that every desk had a charging station for my camera, smart phone, etc.
The suite I stayed in for a week was on the corner of the eighth floor looking out in three directions. The Dream Hotel is a few blocks from Central Park and the middle window looks down on Columbus Circle. The suite had two bathrooms, two refrigerators (I had them take out the stuff they stocked in them so I'd have a place to put my room snacks), a very comfortable king bed, backlit glass topped work desks, and a sofa.
Staff was very gracious and although they don't actually have a business center, they let me use the concierge's computer whenever I needed it. My only complaint is that their chic website doesn't run well on Firefox. The hotel looks exactly like the pictures on DreamNy. -

I've sent my mom, and her sister, to the spa here a few times and have always heard great things back so when I finally decided to visit after a cardio boxing session in midtown gone wrong, expectations were high and they didn't disappoint :) Peaceful and calming, i would highly recommend if you're staying in the hotel or in the area, perhaps not the best choice otherwise.

As you enter the hotel you must take the elevator to the PH floor. It's about 14 stories up in a very slim elevator. As you come off the elevator turn left and enter the room with the bar, if you make another left you enter the back room. This is the spot you want to be in. There are a few big windows with incredible views of New York's Times Square. The service is very slow but the waitress is really cute. It is a fun place to eat, have drinks, and chat with friends.
The place is also well designed, it gives you a sense of intimacy, as if you walked in to a friend's apartment in NYC.
Great Spot. -

AWFUL EXPERIENCE! Staff is NOT nice or helpful. They were discriminating against me and my friends based on race. We were hotel guests! We were told that we could not go to the roof top bar even though we were supposed to meet friends that DID buy a bottle! One of the employees, Bernard, was especially rude and discriminating. He went out of his way to make sure we did not get upstairs. And like I said, we had rooms and were part of a large wedding party. Will NEVER step foot in that place again!

Review from Joel W.
Glendale, CA
Wow, I'm usually one of the easiest hotel guests on the planet, but I really detested this place. Where do I start?
The decor is so hip and cutting edge that it was out of style before it was finished. Ikea furniture, blue neon everywhere including in the room and the neon blue paintings of naked women and men. The room itself was extremely small. You have to expect Manhattan hotel rooms to be a little on the small side, but for $400+ per night? Are you kidding?
Then once I got into bed, the problems began. I was on the 4th floor directly across the street from a building that was under construction. The ENTIRE night there were trash trucks crushing furniture outside my window. It was impossible to sleep until I put on my noise canceling headphones and music. Is that the hotel's fault? Yes, because putting someone in a room with that going on is unthinkable -- if you know something like that is going on, you block out that section of rooms (it was a nightly occurrence even though I changed rooms so I wasn't right across from it).
The elevators were ridiculous. There were times when I waited up to 10 minutes because one was either broken down or they were all filled with staff and cleaning carts because there was no service elevator. I guess I must have been trying to use the elevator during shift change or something. AND, one of the elevators wouldn't let people off on the 6th floor - the internal door would open, but the external elevator door (the one on the 6th floor) wouldn't so we'd be staring at the inside of the elevator shaft every time someone tried to get off on the 6th floor in that elevator.
Finally, today I turned on the faucet in the shower. Thank god I didn't jump in right away because I noticed the water was a bit brown in the tub. So I turned it off and then on again. This time, it came out brown like it was connected to the Starbucks downstairs. I had to clean off in the sink as best I could before I checked out (never to return).
Unbelievable that a hotel can charge over $400 a night like that.
One positive note: the staff was friendly, so they have good people but terrible management & owners who obviously don't put any resources into ongoing upgrades. -

I'm giving The Dream a 3.5! I'm just a hotel snob ... But, this boutique hotel IS cute and it does the job.
Checked in last night and the whole vibe is very cool - chic - simplistic. Mind you I smooth talked the gentlemen at the front desk to get the "best room possible"... I'm known for having hotel mojo. It didn't let me down! Now, if you're use to larger rooms (and I have a "large" room) walking in at first you might be shocked. Definitely not what your average thought of "large" may be .... To be specific, it's around 270 sq. ft. Take that! Once I started unpacking my suitcase, laying stuff out, arranging my plethora of stilettos on top of the dresser - how do ya like that! the closet was way too small to host any of my designer heels. So, why not turn a lemon into a showcase! ;) Okay, so get past the sticker shock of the li'l room, settle in and realize you have PLENTY of room. And mark my words, this is coming from a girl that does NOT travel light!
Bed was comfy and all white. I love when hotels cover the duvet with top & bottom white sheets - they do it here. Simple, but I dig it. The rooms are lit with a vibey blue at night - cool! Overall, I'm happy. Would have been happier if my room had a view, tho. Supposedly the doubles have views of Broadway, but they're smaller ... So, thanks but I'll stick to my "large" room with a view of another room... Who knows, I might get lucky and see some hot stranger across the way ... ;)
Grabbing a drink at the Penthouse Rooftop bar tonight en route to dinner at Babbo. So, after that experience, I'll write another... Stay tuned! -

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week. Yes, our room was small but that was to be expected. For $100 a night (Priceline!) I'm not going to complain. We had a room that wasn't on the street and surprisingly we didn't hear garbage trucks, sirens or any street noise. Awesome.
The bed was comfy, the AC worked, and the toiletries (L'Occitane) were a nice surprise. We were within walking distance of most of the major attractions and close to all of the subway lines that took us to where we couldn't (or didn't want to) walk. We were also given two coupons for a free drink at the hotel bar, but we had a hard enough time fitting in all of the other places we wanted to go so we didn't use them.
Minus one star for no free wifi ($9.95 a day, seriously?) no ice machines (only available through room service), and the flat screen TV that was well past its prime. Other than that, no complaints. I would definitely stay here again.
PS. The switch for the low rider lights is next to the bed. You're welcome.Listed in: NYC

Every hotel has a gimmick and the Dream Hotel wants you to feel like you are in some sort of freakish Alice in Wonderland gone crazy meets uber modernity.
The lobby is way cool, very dark, and has a huge Ghenghis Khan Merman Mermaid sculpture mixed in with odds and ends a la Ripleys Believe It or Not. The aquarium is quite impressive as well.
The elevators are very small and each floor opens to a giant lighted wall mural with pictures ranging from the moon to birds to the more risque bare breasted and male bottoms. It's quite funny to hear the kiddies' reactions when the doors open. Be warned. This is a PG-13 rated hotel.
The rooms are not much bigger than the elevators. A king sized bed will take up the whole room. The rooms boast Plasma tvs and bath and body products from the Chopra Center but sadly no Ipod docking stations. Apples instead of chocolate are what the maids leave behind when making your bed. While the room was decent, the bed was not so comfortable and an eerie blue light illuminates the whole place. On the last day, we finally figured out how to turn it off.
The Dream Hotel is in a convenient location to Central Park, Times Square, and the yellow line subway. It is very difficult to catch a cab in this area around peak hours. I wouldn't consider this area ghetto but someone got mugged across the street during our stay. It was in the evening around 7 pm, so if you plan to walk around the area please don't scream tourist and please be careful.Listed in: Why Staying at a 5 Star Hotel…

I've been here twice for a penthouse and roof-top party -- that's what this review is based on -- I haven't stayed in the hotel... The lobby is very interesting, modern and whimsical... The elevators are clean and fast... The design and decor of everything is clean and chic.
For some reason in the Penthouse all the bartenders and waitresses are in skimpy bathing-suits (for women) and/or shirtless (for men). I wouldn't necessarily say this was very attractive on each and every one of them -- also it sort of doesn't make sense since they're indoors, not only is there no direct sunshine but there's also no breeze; it just doesn't look or feel appropriate... The DJ was super beautiful, fun, and played awesome music.
On the roof-top, that's where all the fun happened. Sitting down on a bench with a few friends, you couldn't help but talk to random strangers and make new acquaintances... The DJ (and subsequent "tunes") here wasn't really to my taste, but the drinks definitely were: $5 stiff cosmopolitans were the special of my most recent visit, I don't really care much for the drink itself, but the price was just right -- well drinks were $9 and all others were above the $12 mark... A couple people ordered food, and it didn't look very good. -

While in NYC to see Sufjan Stevens, the ex and I decided to book a room at Dream. The concept seemed cool and interesting and the modern decor in the rooms matched our tastes.
Getting there was easy and checking in was a breeze. The people at the front desk were helpful with maps and directions and suggestions.
The room itself was very nice. I liked the minimal decor and the bed was the best hotel bed I have ever slept in. It was so nice to have a down comforter in place of those filthy bed spreads you are normally subjected to in a hotel. Fluffy and clean feeling. The bathroom was also impeccably clean and I liked all the mirrors.
Unfortunately negative two stars for this reason. Immediately after checking in I had a weird reaction to something I ate and was sick as a dog. Lying in the bed in my undies in excruciating pain some housekeeper keys in and starts cleaning. My ex tried to shoo them away seeing as I am almost naked and feeling like I want to die but they refused to leave! He copped an attitude and was declared "I need to clean this glass!" So he just kept cleaning and wiping this already impeccably clean glass. Finally I think I scared him when I yelled "give me the phone and dial the desk". And he left. I was ready to cut him with that damn shiny glass. Ugh.
Make sure that you deadbolt your door.
