Unemployment finally got me in the door.

For several months, we had planned outings to Draught House, and every single time, something came up.  I was recently laid off and had been sending out resumes, so I told a friend, "Let's go Tuesday and I'm sure something like a job interview will come up."

I was expecting the building to look like a standard bar but was pleasantly surprised by its old English-style pub architecture.  They have a *vast* beer selection.  There was a list of their beers posted near the door that I didn't find until we were leaving, but I asked the bartender at one point to suggest something light on hops, heavy on malt and he picked a brew that fit the bill.

The tables outside are often shared and a young couple ended up sitting at our table with us.  Nice conversations and heck, they even shared their nachos (which have epic amounts of jalapenos BTW, a win in my book).

Great service, great beer selection and daily specials means I'll be back many times in the future.

Yesterday's 41st Anniversary Party was my first exposure to the Draft House.  All in all I liked it.  I got to try a variety of beers none of which disappointed.  I'm a total dilettante when it comes to beer, but since I hate wine now I'm eager to learn more.

I'll have to come back here when they aren't having a celebration to see how it normally is.  I was a bit put off by the bartender inside as she seemed totally flustered by the goings on outside.  I suppose that's understandable, but after hearing her almost meltdown at a few people who dared to ask her about the $10/glass/4 beer thing which was the reason I'd assume 99% of everyone was there for yesterday - I was ready to leave.

Fortunately, my awesome partner in all things food and beverage arrived and then the afternoon took on a life of its own.

This has to be my LEAST useful review yet.

When I was 9, I moved to Germany to live with my dad and step-mom. I'm this kid from East Texas, that hasn't been beyond Louisiana or Arkansas in my entire life....and I move to Germany. Culture shock is a quite appropriate phrase.

Within the first few days of living in my new home, with 'new' people, in a new country, we go to a restaurant/bar one town over for dinner. It was wonderful. Amazing, new food, such friendly people, dark wood, low lighting, cosy and homey. I started to feel less homesick, less scared, that very night.

Ya'll, when I walked into the Draught House, I nearly got tears in my eyes. It reminded me so strongly of that German bar from so long ago, right down to the beer advertisements. I especially love the overhead 'chandeliers'. I'm not positive, but damn they look familiar.

They had a superb selection of beer on draft; this isn't a place that calls itself a distinctively cultural name and then doesn't deliver a true cultural experience. Irish 'pubs' of the world, take note.

The seating is a bit scarce inside, but it's a small place and people flow from inside to the parking lot with nary a word said. A very friendly place.

I just wish they had food. Then my moment of reliving my childhood could be complete!

Went here on a date early on a Friday. Arrived around 4 p.m. The ambiance is decent, the beer selection is excellent but the service left much to be desired.

First impression when walking in is that it is a cozy, rustic, german-style bar, tucked in between some residences and the nearby medical district. Its very quaint and I could instantly tell that I would like the place. That image was partially shattered.

When I go to a place like this, the first thing I do is strike up a conversation with the bartender and get a recommendation for a good dark beer. When I went, the female bartender made it obvious that me not knowing exactly what I wanted to order was a pain in her ass, and when I asked for a second, not-so-dark beer for my date, she actually rolled her eyes, while condescendingly telling me that they didn't have "light beer." Bear in mind the place only had a few patrons at the early hour. Now thats what I call customer service.

I swallowed my pride, handed her my car to open a tab, and downed an excellent house porter and we had a nice time, though the wooden seats and benches aren't the most comfortable.

There was also not a waiter at the time I went (not too unusual) so I had to return to the bar to get another round and face down the evil bar queen again. About 10 minutes had passed since my first round and she had forgotten that I existed and asked for cash, despite me having an open tab. I reminded her I had a tab open and she asked my last name, and when I told her she just turned away, marked the tab and walked off without any sort of acknowledgment (though my bill was correct at the end).

I am not really a stickler for customer service, but this rude person really turned me off to the establishment. Despite this, I would come back here with friends to try more of their great beer, but never again on a date.

This place is fantastic.  Tucked away in a neighborhood, in an old house, the Draught House is part pub, part beer garden, and all Austin. I counted 50 or so taps.

It's great when it's cold and rainy becuase it's so cozy inside.  On beautiful fall and spring days, quaff a brew and sit outside.  On those hot 100 degree days, it's dark and cool interior invites.

If you have a hard time making decisions, then steer clear of this place.

Where to sit?  bring folding chairs to tailgate in the parking lot; the picnic tables on the outdoor patio; or any number of tables inside?

What to drink? a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA from Delaware? a Mirror Pond Pale Ale from Bend, Oregon? or a local brew like Live Oak?

The diversity of their beer selection and seating options is great, plus this place will NEVER become pretentious since you have to order your drinks at the bar - and you always seem to engage someone different in line. Plus, there's not a stream of TVs lining each wall - just one (normally on ESPN or local news) in the corner

The only caution: their food is pretty "blah". I heard that they USED to offer free pizza on Wednesday nights, but no more. Still, I've paid for their pizza and it's not even worth eating if it's free. The nachos were okay, but nothing great.

While the Flying Saucer certainly has better food, this place has  more of a "neighborhood bar" feel than Flying Saucer's Triangle location.

Join the bandwagon. It deserves 5 stars. Your neighborhood pub with anti-Nazi decor. Beers are a little expensive outside of happy hour, but hey, these people gotta make a living.

Home brews will knock you on your butt. Very carby and hangover-inducing if you don't watch it.

Cheap wheat beers Sunday night!

No liquor.

Interesting location in a neighborhood and a great selection of beer, especially the local brews. They also have a lot of great specials. The only thing that was not great for me is it seems like they have such a huge amount of regulars that I felt like I was crashing somebody elses party. Cool place and worth checking out.

This is the quintessential Austin neighborhood bar. It seems like it was pucked down in the middle of a residential neighborhood surrounded by houses and apartments. People like to tailgate in the parking lot (often with their pooch), sit on the patio or gather inside, play the jukebox and throw darts.
The tap selection is among the best in town. Something for every palate - unless you drink booze - then you need to go elsewhere. Staff is hit or miss - but I don't think that matters so much. There are many regulars and they can be territorial but often friendly.

I have only been here one time, but I can't wait to come back out.  It's the only bar that I have ever been to where it's completely legal to crack a beer sitting on your tailgate in the parking lot and drink a beer.  Yeah, it's a Texas solution to drinking on the porch at home by yourself with the dog.

The beer selections seem very choice and they even have some beer-snobbish craft beers and cask stuff...all the real beer drinkers go here.

I don't even think they have liquor, but I could be wrong.

I don't think this place is the best for people who look young. You walk in and everyone stops to look at you. I didn't mind the place they had good beer specials and they are all dark, heavy, and full of flavor (just how I like it). The other rating are right, this place is for real beer drinkers! :)

This place is really unique, the exterior is rustic and looks just like a pub. The minute you walk in the menu is 6 ft in front of you and you have to look up then walk up to order your beer. It is dark and cold and I really enjoyed it. I would come here again it's a great place.

hate the lack of any compelling food options.

super, super crowded most nights.

if you don't mind waiting in line for beer, bathroom, and seating, then head over.

oh, and eat something beforehand.  it's shameful that a "pub" has quesadillas and "pizza"

This is the place to go if you want to have the best beer possible in the best environment possible. Great outside seating enclosed by tall bamboo. Long standing tables, picnic tables, tower heaters.

Dark wood, great ambiance inside with dart boards. Amazing beer selection. Good pub food, including nachos. I have had success meeting quality girls here before.

I've gotten to the point where I no longer get excited when a friend wants to go downtown.  It's a hassle, where will we park the car?  Am I going to stick out if I'm not dressed slutty enough?  Oh, it's your turn to pay and you're gonna go get me a Bud Lite... what a delight!

Then came the wonderful evening when a friend wanted me to meet up with his group at the Draught House.  He asked me if I'd been before and I was like duh, of course I've been to the Alamo Drafthouse.  He then explained the difference, and I googled a map and hopped in my car.  Even with the map I totally passed this place by.  I think I thought it would be flashier.  I am pleased it was not.  I pulled up to the lot and got a little worried because I'm handicapped and the parking lot was small and full.  Oh snap they had a handicap spot and it was open!  Yesss.

I met my friends inside at the table they had claimed.  After glancing at all the things available on tap, I was overwhelmed.  But the cool kind of overwhelmed, you know?.  I like trying new things.  We split a pitcher of something, and got to talking.  It really was fantastic to be able to have conversations without feeling the need to scream over too-loud noise.  Later I even got to show off my mad dart skillz.  Let's just say that I'm great and no strangers felt the need to stop by and give me pointers or anything.

Going to the Draught House feels like a return to basics.  You'll look appropriate dressed however you feel like dressing.  The bartenders are willing to help you out with your selection if you're one of those people who doesn't know anything about anything (me big time).  The prices are appropriate and the atmosphere is calm and laid back.

Sure going downtown can be fun, but man this place is so much better.

The Draught House is a beer lovers wet dream.  As the name infers, they specialize in draft beers.  It is located in a beautiful neighborhood on Medical Parkway and has both indoor and outdoor seating.  The beer selection here has to be the best in Austin (although not the largest).  The people who run this bar know beer and they cater to beer aficionados  I cannot tell you how many times I've been to Draught House and was introduced to a beer I did not even know existed, and I try a lot of beers.  The $2.75 pint nights on Tuesdays are absurdly cheap when you realize that you are paying less for some of these pints than you would buying a bottle at Specs.  This is high quality beer folks, and the bartenders are very cool too.  I give the Draught House my highest recommendation.

The Draught House is a simple place with simple virtues; a time-worn English pub nestled amid doctors offices and medical supply stores in a quiet neighborhood. This is the pub experience boiled down to its simplest most unpretentious essence.

This is a pretty simple review. Draught House pours a huge array of interesting beers, many of which are quite potent (you've been warned). You can sit inside in the dark and comforting pub on ancient carved up wooden furniture or you can sit outside. Bring your own lawn chairs if you want to tailgate or use the row of picnic tables. Food is an afterthought to combat the inevitable debilitating beer munchies.

This is not a hip "see and be seen" place. This is a drink beer and talk to people type of place.  You can find more bells and whistles at Flying Saucer, Opal Divines, or Little Woodrow's, but you won't find a better beer pub than the Draught House.

This is the best selection of beer in Austin, and the best just beer joint. The patio is amazingly comfortable. I cant help but love this place. The atmosphere here is amazingly laid back, I know lots of people who would consider this a beer snob bar and they all still feel perfectly comfortable here. The only thing bad about the place is that I live so far away. I do wish they sold liquor so I could get a few snorts of whiskey with my beers, I'd say not selling liquor is the only thing that keeps them from having a perfect score!

Definitely a great location to spend a Saturday night with friends! They've got a lot of space to spread out, from the German-style furniture in the dimly lit indoors (great atmosphere) to the tables with awnings outdoors, and I particularly liked the looooong standing bar outside. We got a group of 6 of us around it and it was one of the few moments in the whole night when we were all able to see and talk to each other comfortably. (And yes, we did try out all 3 seating areas!)

They've also got a top-notch selection of beer. My friend is a bit of a beer-nut/alcoholic and wanted to try the Draughthouse based purely on the availability of some specialty brews he wanted to try out. Word of warning though, most of those hard-to-find beers do NOT come in pitchers, as we came to learn. Still, we ordered them in pints and a good time was had by all.

Although I haven't had any of it, I do like their menu of food. We're in Texas, no one wants to eat schnitzel when it's 104 outside... Serving quesadillas and nachos just makes sense! Maybe it doesn't go with the ambiance, but it goes well with my taste buds when I'm on pint #4 of the night!

I finally overcame my fear of the Draught House this past year, in part because many beer-loving people I know always want to meet up here and enough time has passed for me to forgive it.

A couple years ago, as I slid into a wooden bench inside the Draught House, the world's largest splinter lodged itself in my butt cheek. No big deal, I thought, wincing, I'll just pull it out.

Nun-uh. That sucker was not moving.

The next day, I had to go to ARC, where they had to cut it out and give me four or five stitches. You can imagine the looks I got when I explained that I got a splinter in my butt in a bar.

This scared me away for the next couple years. At first, I went and stood...or sat outside. But finally, I was able to sit again, very carefully, and even, perhaps, enjoy myself with one of many of their delicious beers.

I really love the atmosphere of this place. It feels so cozy with all the dark wood and dim lights. It's super laid back, and the perfect place to head out to for a few beers and some darts. I've found the service is the only thing lacking--the bartenders can be REALLY rude, and they seem to get off on being cheeky when there's a long line--like having an audience makes their rudeness funny somehow.  Anywho, oddly enough though, it only makes this place more endearing to me--it's never malicious, and it's something to laugh about with the crowd of drunkies you're hanging with. All in all, good place, great beer selection, good atmosphere for friends.

Seriously, for you to rank the Horse anything less than 5 stars is crazy talk!  Ok, so if you can't tell, I'm a little partial; I would live at the Horse if I could but I have been taking advantage of this not only local but National gem since 2000 and since then have made every effort to make it a regular Thursday in my life.

Where to begin?  Of course, the brew.  If you've never been, The Horse has more pulls than you can shake a stick at.  They are def pro local brew as well but quite honestly I typically stick with their House beers of the time.  I have yet, in nine years, to have a bad House pull.  Recently, they had a black wheat... mind blowing flavor.  Almost like the freshness of chewing on a raw wheat husk.  Out-freakin'-standing!

What's better is that the people behind the bar have a detailed knowledge of craft and what is really good.  That, and they actually remember and care about their customers.

Round it out with great specials everyday of the week (2.75 House pints, casks, free brats, ect..), great pub grub (I DARE you to order the large nachos!), an outdoor atmosphere to kill for (awesome beer garden with umbrellas and misters and you can regularly find patrons in folding chairs sitting around their cars in the parking lot), true to form digs inside (straight out of a story book), and a really legit juke (don't play Sublime though, unless you don't mind not getting to hear your song, haha).

In a word, Brilliant; the best pub in Austin, and quite possibly the world.

This old pub is celebrating 40 years of serving beer.  I was a club goer, punk dive frequenter, lounge bar aficionado, and now I will go to any bar that promises good service and a pleasant atmosphere.  This bar has been a staple of mine for years because pubs have their own style, they don't depend on the musical genres that have been booked.  So no matter what musical mode I was in, I could always count on this place just being a good bar.

It's a comfortable place where jeans and a t-shirt are never looked down on, where you can sit in your lawn chair with your dog by your side like so many people have done since Draught Horse's inception.  Did you know the bar used to be called the Draught Horse?  Sounds like a flashback to the good-ole-days.  I promise I won't go there.  But if you ask one of the regulars, he will certainly regale you with stories of the late sixties like they have for me.  You could even hear some of the same stories, beer has a funny way of making people tell the same stories over and over...

The best thing here, of course, is the beer.  With more taps than I would care to count, I can count on the fact that there will always be a beer that is waiting to be discovered by my adventurous palate.  Every kind of beer you would want, on tap, served with a friendly nod and a thank you.

This kind of bar is time-tested and will see the 22nd century, I'm confident of that.  The English-style pub has been around longer than anyone you know has been alive, and will be around long after we're gone.  If tradition is something you admire, come here to soak up suds and listen for the same stories that have been bouncing off these walls for years, told by the same old souls in a slurred voice.  You'll feel like you are part of the tradition.  Come here enough times and you can hear the stories again.

Love the Drafthouse!  Love the beer, love the patio, love the vibe.  Great neighborhood pub for some kickback patio drinking.

One thing...does anyone know why at night people park in the lot and set up chairs and chill on the parking lot by their cars/trucks like it's an extended patio/ tailgating party?  I'm pro 'pub tailgating', since this place gets pretty packed and needs the extra space...I just wonder how that became a tradition.  Oh quirky Austin, how I love thee!

I used to live a block from this place. It was pretty sweet when they used to have the big-ass house beers. Now, of course, they don't. That's because assholes either broke or stole all their nice glassware. I MAY be one of those assholes...but I'll never tell.

The parking lot is really where it's at. The beer garden is nice, too, but bringing your favorite doggie out with some camp chairs and having your own little tailgating party in the parking lot is really freaking sweet.

Inside is a bunch of old-school wood tables and chairs that are more wood-carved sculpture than anything else, but they give the place a great old-world ambiance.

Their homebrews are pretty top notch. I almost exclusively drink those. Currently, I'm drinking the Guy Smiley. I know! They named a beer Guy Smiley! If you don't get that, you have no soul.

The food is pretty poor. I wish it was better, but that's not why you come here.

The people are not really my type of crowd, but that's likely because there are SO many different crowds that hang out here. I almost always see at least someone I know.

I'm sad I don't live a block away anymore, but it's probably healthier that way.

This is my main bar in Austin. The Draught House is everything you could want in a neighborhood bar. Laid back atmosphere and good people and pretty much the best beer selection of beer and best prices. Also they have a pretty good selection of brews they make in the back which are the cheapest option.

It is not a bad idea to bring camp chairs so you can chill in the parking lots with friends and dogs. Some people complain about there being no servers and that you have to wait in line but I on average I get my beer faster waiting in line than waiting on servers at other bars. The staff can be interesting and they are all nice people, if they are rude to you that either means they like you or you are screwing up somehow.

Some other nice things are the two darts boards inside with nice light rings that sadly people walk in front of all to often to get to the patio. The patio it self is nice, lots of seating, propane tanks in the winter and misters in the summer. The food isn't amazing but I don't know anyone who goes there for the food. It is really nice that they have snack bowls (peanuts, gold fish, chex mix) you can get very cheap. They also don't mind you bringing in your own food or having stuff delivered.

In the end this is where all the beer people in Austin hang out, especially the ones that work at the other beer bars. So swing on by, grab a pint and meet some cool people.

What's the next best thing if you can't be at a traditional biergarten in Munich?  Going to the Draught House.  Here's why:

1) Seriously, people sit outside in tailgating chairs - what else do you need to know??

2) If that's not enough for you, the fact that they make you stand in line like a civilized member of humanity rather than pushing and shoving to the bar like a pack of wild animals should go a long way toward securing your loyalty.

3) Though lacking the dense foliage of an actual German biergarten, the outdoor seating area did bring back fond memories of my last trip to Munich (which is, FYI, my second-favorite city in the world after Austin, so the positive associations should mean ever more in that context).

4) It's not in downtown... not that I'm not a fan of the downtown bars, but I love the more residential feel of the neighborhood around Draught House.

5) They have Hacker-Pschorr Hefe Weisse, one of my personal favorites.

Prosit!!

I'm not a beer drinker, but I know people who are.  We're actually friends, despite our differences.  And so I tag along to the Draughthouse, which I pronounce "drought" when others pronounce it "draft".  Which spelling is closer, I ask you?  I'm sticking to my guns.

They have so many beers.  The bartender gently guided me to a few that I like, nothing hearty mind you, and I have an awesome time hanging out. I love love love their old sturdy tables with ancient carvings, and the jukebox.  I've met the sweetest people while waiting in line for the potty, real sharp shooters who squat+business+wash hands in under 4 minutes - ladies after my own heart.  I'll be going back to the Draughthouse; there's no drought there I tell ya.

I love this place. I love that it clearly pays to be a regular. The service and selection is far better when you are. And while I'm not a regular because it's not near my home, I'm a regular in other places and continued patronage and patience should count for something.

the microbrews are good. I love that they always have a cask beer, and the suggestions are always spot on.

Only wish they had more food.

First off, don't go there.

Let me clarify, I have been going to this place for the past 10 years or so since I lived roughly in the neighborhood.  While the place is hopping at high time, I have managed to figure out just the right time to get there and still get a place to sit with my computer, some snacks, and plentiful array of brews.

So, by 5 stars, I mean this place sucks the big one.  By 5 stars I mean it has only about 20 beers and all various flavors of Bud.  By 5 stars, I mean you can't sample any of the beers before buying.  By 5 stars, I mean though the staff seem to know everything about beer, they'll yell at you for getting a phone call, and quite frankly don't yell enough at those pretentious mucks that sample several of the beers waxing on about their stint in Munich (actually, I really mean that one...) By 5 stars, I mean that if I had to get up and go to the restroom in the middle of this review and walked all the way across the bar and the dude sitting next to the loo got up to clearly use it - and could see me coming - wouldn't sit down and wave me through as he just did.  By 5 stars, I mean the woman sitting next to me talking to her realtor isn't really pretty.  BTW, buy her house.  She seems nice. By 5 stars, I mean the local crowd that have been coming here for 20 years on me clearly don't try enough new digs and know little about cool places to go.  By 5 stars, I mean if you get into a bar fight - which is a nightly event here, I mean 'there', I don't go there - you can't go upstairs to the dentist who owns the building to get your teeth fixed.  By 5 stars, I mean if you take my usual seat - which I don't have - I'll slit your tires.

The Draught House is one of the few places in Austin that actually deserve the designation "pub". It's a simple, cozy place where you can just go and hang out with your friends and have a beer. They don't have a single TV in there which is great so people are actually 'forced' to talk to each other rather than staring at a TV screen (and as a nice side effect it keeps away annoying Cowboys fans ;))
They have a very good selection of beers, a standard selection that they always have and a rotating selection of other brews. They also have the authentic glasses for many beers which is very cool (and important!) The interior is dark and rustic and provides a real pub feel, very cozy. There is also a beergarden in the back where you can hang out and a lot of people hang out in front of the pub or in the parking lot. It's always a nice atmosphere, good mix of people, people bringing their dogs, good conversations with strangers, all the good stuff. They used to have free pizza on Wednesday but yesterday I found out they don't do that anymore. You can order pizza though and it's good, for $10 you get a large one and it was very tasty.

I would put the Draught House in the same category as Gingerman and Dog & Duck, they are all slightly different but they are all great.

If you are looking for a nice pub and you haven't been to Draught House then you absolutely need to go and check it out!

As soon as I walked in this place I started seriously considering moving to Austin. Had everthing else in Austin sucked, this stil would have made our trip awesome.

We stopped in for a beer shortly after they opened on Thursday afternoon. My husband nearly had a heart attack when he saw Mirror Pond on tap. I quickly settled on the house made Vanilla Porter (yes, house made beers are just $2.25 before 11!) and was in heaven.

We loved it some much that after dinner, we bought the people who's house we were "couchsurfing" at back for drinks. The atmopshere at night was even more fun. The interior was busy, the patio was packed, and there were even people tailgating in their lawn chairs in the parking lot.

When you grow up in other cities where there are distinct warm and cool seasons, you get used to certain businesses reopening after everybody has thawed from winter.

Putt-putt golf.
The frozen custard shop.
The local pool.

These places are open in Austin year round, but one ritual with the seasons that I get here is the move to the outside area of Draught House.  I stopped in last night for the first time in a few months and the lot was full of people, their pets, lawn chairs...all that stuff.  It's great to have a pub with a small town feel where everyone is friendly, the bar staff is great, and the beer selection is good.

I'm glad spring is here.

This place has steadily grown on me.

When I first started going here, the pseudo-tailgate atmosphere and 30-something clientele had me worried it was the token Khaki-shorts bar in the area. I've also never been a fan of outdoor seating. Moving to Austin has been a test in patience in this regard.

Steadily over the past 8 months though, I've started to think of The Draught House as the neighborhood bar. Which is odd considering it's about seven blocks away and there's a bar across the street from my house.

The atmosphere is great, inside and out, the patrons are often warm and welcoming, the bartenders are great with recommendations, their beer list always has something new and interesting, and their outside seating --particularly the long bar-- is some of my favorite in town.

The Draught House is a great pick if you're in the market for a bar you'll want to return to again and again, and/or simply looking for a place where it's okay to chat up strangers while waiting in line.

For some reason I was under the impression this place was a really big parking lot where people sat and drank beer out of their tailgate. I had such the wrong impression of this place that I passed it on my way there.

GPS: "Destination."
Me: "WHERE?! I DON'T SEE IT?!" (yes, I talk to my GPS)

But then I realized I was expecting something completely different and turned in. It has a small parking lot and medium size patio for people to sit down and drink some beer. This area is dog friendly, and the clients are dog friendly, so my little pug Jackson had a blast getting pets from lots of strangers.

Huge beer selection on tap, dark-wooded pub feel inside. It definitely has the neighborhood pub vibe, which is awesome. Perfect place to drink a beer and bullshit the afternoon away.

The worst bar in texas with the unfriendliest bartenders around ... not to mention, the most inedible pizza at outrageous prices ... only to have to be eaten in the chilliest of environments in the least charming neighborhood with the rudest clientele.

Their beer is also terrible.  All of it.  And nevermind the dartboards.

Nothing to see here, okay?

Right, then.

LISTEN. There are a lot of Draught House newcomers and honestly, you're driving my friends and me crazy.

I have no problem with new people. I welcome the business! And I'm glad more people are exposed to the awesomeness that is The DH.
BUT, there's a little something called "Draught House Etiquette," and I'm going to give you a brief review of it:

1. THERE'S A LINE. This isn't the downtown cattle stampede. We're civilized here. Get to the back of the line. I don't care if you're "just closing your tab." That takes more time than getting a beer, anyway. If you want to avoid the line for the night, sit at the bar.

1a. DON'T CUT IN LINE. I mean, friends monkey-cutting is fine, but when you and your friends just slyly step in front of me: not ok (I'm talkin' to YOU guy and three chicks last Thursday).

2. DARWINISM APPLIES TO THE TABLES. Survival of the quickest, bitches. "Boo hoo" to the group of UT students who "had been waiting over an hour for a table." That couple beat your beer-bellied asses to the table. Get over it.

3. IT'S NOT REALLY OK TO SIT HERE. This one's tricky. Personally, I don't mind when people ask to grab a seat, especially when its just me and one friend and it's just a couple of nice, mellow people. BUT the other night I watched a BIG crowd take over a table a couple was sitting at. They asked if they could sit with them AS THEY WERE SITTING. The crowd grew, and the couple looked pissed. Stand at the bar, curb sit, bring a chair, SOMETHING - just realize you might be ruining someone's night.

4. PUT YOUR DOG ON A LEASH. Dogs rumble. Let's face it. You may have an awesome dog, but no one has a good time when your loose hound starts barking and growling at another.

(5.) DON'T MESS WITH THE PROPANE. This is winter specific, and not really an etiquette rule per se, but seriously. If you crank it up and down all night, the tanks run out faster. That's why half the tables have non-functioning heaters. Please?

I'll add more as we think of them. Ultimately, it's all good if you relax, have a good time, AND incorporate some courteousness and consideration for your fellow patrons.
