Dr. Ricky Fishman is THE BEST chiropractor I've experienced!
He genuinely listens to my concerns, remembers everything we talked about in our previous session (sometimes with months in between!), and has a very gentle yet greatly intuitive and successful touch. He is able to adjust areas of my back where other chiropractors had failed. I never feel rushed with him, because he genuinely wants to find the root of the problem and fix it.
Thanks to Dr. Ricky I'm in all the right places...especially when I'm at his office at ChiroMedica! -

Ricky Fishman is awesome! And, if you are pregnant and looking for a gentle but extremely effective chiropractor to manage your aching back and foot pain look no further!
I went to him regularly during the last four months of my pregnancy. I had extreme hip and back pain and my poor feet towards the end of my pregnancy swelled up like sausages. Ricky helped take the kinks out of my back and hips and eased my poor toes with mini foot massages.
I highly recommend him! Ten month after my baby boy was born, I'm still seeing him to take out the kinks of motherhood! -

I've been a casting director for the past twenty years and have had to deal with many actors from out of town who have injured themselves on and off stage. Ricky has been my go to person. He fully understands the nature of performance...having treated so many actors and also being a performer (musician) himself he is able to address the specific nature of these problems. He understands the challenges and can help make adjustments to the way the actors move so as to minimize the repetitive stress of their conditions and allow them to heal fully and complete their often long production runs. He is incredibly knowledgeable and his treatments always include both chiro adjustments and specific exercises and stretches that the actors can do on their own, before and after shows. If you are a performer and are concerned about doing a show, Ricky is definitely the guy to see.

Dr Ricky Fishman is a wonderful and talented chiropractor! His warmth and calm demeanor make it easy to relax while he does the adjustments. Ricky always takes his time and expresses a real concern for my symptoms. Five years ago I started getting treatment for some acute conditions which he healed with a consistent but minimalist approach. I never felt jerked around or overly adjusted. I now visit him for routine maintenance and feel like I have the spine of a 20 year old! What a difference!
He is also very funny and knowledgable on many topics including alternative heath care and travel. I always leave laughing and feeling much better. Unlike the chilly supermarket medicine we have come to expect from our health care providers, Ricky has a personal touch that feels more like a country doctor who treats his patients like they are his friends and neighbors. He is a real healer who never stops studying and investigating the real origins of health. -

Ricky is a fantastic chiropractor. I had horrible neck and upper back pain and was afraid to get my neck cracked. I didn't let him crack my neck the first visit but felt so much better after the back cracking I knew I should trust him. So I let him crack my neck the next time and what a relief. I have been going to him for about 9 months now and I'm doing really well. I go every 2 to 3 weeks.
Ricky's bedside manner is amazing. He is very warm and caring and is interested in you as a person.
I was referred to Ricky by a good friend that has been coming to him for years. I feel really lucky to have found him.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I have an anxious personality when it comes to hospitals and healthcare practitioners. Never in my life, did I think I'd allow a chiropractor to adjust me-- Cracking, popping, resetting-- Eeek! It wasn't for me. That all changed after my low back went out a few years ago. I was limping around in excruciating pain and knew I'd have to set that fear aside and seek expert help. Enter Ricky Fishman. He is kind, funny, has a great bedside manner, and best of all knows exactly what's he's doing (20 plus years experience helps, I'm sure). My adjustments are performed quickly, with absolute care and precision. I stand up afterwards feeling a sense of release and calm.
Ricky is also a musician (as am I). This is a major added benefit! He gives me exercises to do regularly (stays on my case to actually do them) and has even come to my vocal studio for an ergonomic consultation of my set-up. My low back kept getting "stuck" and he solved the problem in thirty seconds. Get a high, stool-style chair for my keyboard so that I can switch from sitting to standing when I work with my clients throughout the day. The key is to keep moving so my body won't be in one position too long. He also suggested that I add a lumbar support pillow to my "stylish office chair that matches my decor perfectly". I obliged. My back is thanking Ricky and so is my heart. -

Dr Fishman is a holistic and professional care giver. He spends time learning what works for your body and takes his time at each visit to make you feel like you are getting the full experience that you are seeking. Dr Fishman is also a well rounded individual who cares about helping others reach their inner potential which is exemplified by the travel company that he started. Dr. Ricky Fishman has been our onsite Chiropractor for the past 4
months and he his AWESOME. Dr. Fishman is knowledgeable and he takes the time to review your medical history and discuss the issues that you are having. He listens, advises and makes recommendations on how to fix your problem and how to prevent it from happening again. In addition to providing onsite appointments, Dr. Fishman gave a presentation on different stretching techniques that employees can do to prevent injuries in the workplace. He provided us with a lot of techniques that I will continue to encourage employees to use. I would recommend his services to any company that is looking to expand their wellness program. -

I'm a huge fan of Dr. Ricky. I've seen many chiropractors over my life and am pretty in tune with my body - and Dr. Ricky gets that. He listens, advises, and is super knowledgeable with little things you can do to survive a 60+ hour a week desk job.
His staff is extremely nice as well. I'm stopping here because if I say much more, it'll be a lot harder to get my favorite appointment time.
PS. He offices out of Chiromedica. I write this so that because he does not come up when search for him under the office name. Now he will. -

Dr. Fishman is not the first chiropractor I've been to. However, he is the first one to spend the time and stretch my muscles, massage me, even put a heating pad BEFORE the adjustment. If you want someone who spends time with you and reads your body... if you want someone who is passionate about your healing, I highly recommend Dr. Fishman. His basic philosophy of how he treats patients is that he doesn't sell them a program.. he wants your body to be better when it's better. You won't be monetarily committed to a program when you're not getting results.. or if you're better before the 'program' is over. That is fair and I respect him for not going for the $$$ first. Thank you for your dedication to excellence Ricky.

Ricky is really fantastic. The morning of Christmas eve my back was in bad, bad pain and Rick was open for business! He asked me a bunch of questions to understand my medical history, showed me a few simple stretches and strengthening exercise to prevent pain in the future and then he gave me an adjustment.
I was fine the next day and able to go on a week long vacation pain free. Whenever my back acts up, he is always there and helpful. He also connected me to a great fitness trainer which has also helped my back. -

I had a chance to visit Dr. Ricky Fishman last week for my sciatica after an absence of some weeks. Again I was totally amazed by Ricky. He is a stellar health care giver who is completely dedicated to serving the patient. It is difficult to find health care givers like Dr. Fishman in today's corporate dominated health care system. Ricky makes the patient the center of the treatment experience. When I am being treated by him I feel that he is totally dedicated to my health situation. Ricky's results are wonderful! I wouldn't consider going to another chiropractor.

I was referred to Dr. Fishman several years ago by a friend after I slept on my neck wrong. I couldn't turn my neck, it was an emergency and he was able to see me the same day. I've been a loyal patient ever since and continue to go back because Ricky is a great Chiropractor. He asks and actively listens to what I tell him about my body aches and pains and he adjusts his treatments accordingly.
Ricky is an interesting person who cares about his patients and I've had a great time getting to know him during my fast and efficient appointments. He always asks about my life and knows more about me than any of my other physician's. As you can tell from my stats, I'm not an active yelp review writer, I have to feel strongly about someone/something before I'm willing to spend the time and write a review. Ricky Fishman warrants a positive review and a visit from someone looking for a new Chiropractor. -

I was skeptical of chiropractic until I met Ricky, who has helped alleviate my back pain for several years. I always walk in to his office barely able to walk, thinking that my back is going to hurt forever, and then I walk out feeling MUCH better. By the time I come for a follow-up visit, I'm riding my bicycle there. Ricky is smart, compassionate, concerned, and unhurried, and I would recommend him without reservation--along with his trips to Peru and Burma!

Ricky is the best! I started seeing him about 13 years ago when I threw my back out in a boxing class. I was really nervous about seeing a chiropractor I knew nothing about, but I was in dire straights & desperate for some relief. Ricky immediately put me at ease. He gave me a very thorough exam before making any adjustments & then told me what he was going to do before he did each adjustment.
I have scoliosis and I spend at least 40 hours a week in front of computer. Neither of which do anything good for my back. But Ricky keeps me mobile.
In a nutshell, I would give up ALL of my other doctors before I'd give up Ricky! I can't recommend him enough. -

I have been to a lot of chiropractors in my life for treatment of the aches and pains that come with scoliosis. Dr Fishman is one of the better ones. Ricky is very personable and a great listener. He is concerned with your overall situation, not just the area of your back currently having a problem. His office staff is friendly and he always has openings within a few days or less. And he accepts my insurance!
updated: stupid insurance company mergers! Now that I'm no longer covered and don't live on any bus lines that make dropping by union street that easy, I don't get in to see Ricky except in cases of dire need. But when I do, I don't even mind paying out of pocket, and it's actually not that steep. And I forgot to mention Allejandra at the front desk is incredibly sweet and helpful with billing issues... but Ricky: you need to get her an ergonomic desk! -

Dr. Fishman is the best! I am a drummer and had issues with my back and neck for years. A buddy of mine who is also a musician recommended I go see Ricky. After the first visit I started feeling way, way better. I wake up in the morning feeling good, and I'm actually playing the drums better than I ever have.
If you are having back pain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders (especially musicians!!), make an appointment with Dr. Ricky - seriously.3 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Although I don't have any other chiropractic experiences to compare to, I have been very happy with Dr. Fishman. I had never experienced back pain before last year, and he helped to make it feel better very quickly. Whenever it's started up again, it's easy to get a last-minute appointment to get it taken care of. I really like that he uses all-natural methods and doesn't try to push cortisone shots or heavy painkillers.
Dr. Fishman is also very nice and patient, and adds a sense of humor to alleviate the situation. I've recommended other friends to him who have also been very satisfied with their experiences. -

Having once worked for a chiropractor many years ago, in New York, and never having utilized their services; I thought I would never need one. Then the man I love, Killer, came into my life. He had played football and basketball, was always in back and neck pain. I'm not kidding when I say always, either! Killer stands a towering 6'8". So, the first thing I did was contact the only chiropractor I knew, Ricky Fishman. I have known Ricky for many years and he is a fine person, which is one of the reason I call him my friend. We set up an emergency visit for Killer at his office. We filled out the paperwork, history and physical, and then he took us to the back. He questioned Killer thoroughly about his pain, how long he'd had it, etc. He was only 23 and should not have that kind of pain at such a young age. He put heated packs on Killer for a bit, then adjusted Killer's cervical, thoracic, and sacral spine. It the first time that Killer had been able to turn his head to look at me! He showed Killer and I how to do these exercise to strengthen his back muscles and to help him alleviate pain. We were both pleased! Killer has had subsequent visits and always loves them! FYI, I am also a nurse! I know professionalism when I see it, and Ricky is the consummate professional! This has been my "third party" observer review.
Well, just yesterday I got my own adjustment. I am a nurse and have all kinds of things going on with my fifty-eight year old body. Osteoarthritis, just everything! I have no neck, but I seem to carry stress and tension in my neck that I don't have! So, I lay down after the preliminaries previously described, and Ricky put hot packs on my back, and I relaxed for a bit. When he removed the packs he proceeded to loosen me up, and then had me move my body around while he made adjustments. I was very tight, but he loosened my muscles with ease while he made these adjustments. Then came the part that I have always dreaded, the neck adjustment. I guess I've always been afraid of having my neck adjusted, and leaving as a quadraplegic. I don't know where this fear came from, but I've had it for some time. I tried to relax. He assured me that he would be safe and gentle, and that I had nothing to fear. He adjusted my neck with no problems. I think I might be over that phobia now, because the experience left me feeling exhilarated; like I was thirty years old again! I stood up straight, and my spine was perfect! My neck had no tightness and I stood erect without tightness in my neck I looked different from when I had first come to the office! Ricky made sure that I understood the exercises that I needed to do, and I was out the door a new and improved woman! I thanked Ricky, and left. I will be back again! If you are considering going to a chiropractor, then I would suggest that you start and end with Ricky Fishman, Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine. You will be very glad that you did! -

I moved to SF a few months ago, and was in desperate need of an adjustment. Dr. Fishman was so great in getting my body back on track, and really focused on listening to what all my issues were. I felt very comfortable with him, and I like that he doesn't push vitamins or products on you, or appointment minimums like my last doctor. I feel he simply wants me to feel better, and I definitely did after the 1st treatment, and continue to go as needed.

I've seen a lot of chiropractors in the last 10 years, and I had basically given up on them; they were always trying to keep me at a level where I'd need biweekly visits. Dr. Fishman is SO not that way. I started seeing him because of a painful flare up (can't even remember where right now, I think it was my neck, but I've herniated/strained everything) and he's gradually gotten me to the point where I visit every 6 weeks. He pushes it out a little more each time. He recommends exercises and uses this AMAZING technique I haven't encountered before. He does not rush.

Been to lots of chiros and I can say that Dr. Fishman is one of the best. He takes the time to listen and understand your whole situation, not just your aches and pains and as mentioned he is a caring and genuine person. Definitely not the typical get em in, get em out chiropractor mill experience. A+++

Dr.Fishman is a solid adjuster and really loves the work, which is important for me because I don't want someone adjusting my vertebrae who is just kind of present to what he is doing. I'm especially picky about who works on my body, being a dancer and a body-sensitive person. What I really appreciate in a Chiropractor is the inclusion of muscle work in the treatment. So I am pretty happy with Dr. F's precise, firm and sensitive undoing of muscle tension along with the more direct structural adjustments. He is also hilarious and fun to talk to, he has a new yorker no BS attitude which I so appreciate. Above all I leave the office feeling like I'm in a new body. He worked on my SI joint for a while, which was bothering me every time I went to yoga class. I went to yoga class the other day and the little twinge I usually get was not there anymore and it was fantastic! I definitely would recommend him for injuries and/or for ongoing well-being treatment.

I came to Dr. Ricky with tremendous pain in my back and neck as the result of an auto accident I was in three years ago. At that time, I saw a chiropractor recommended by my insurance. I practice yoga regularly, and am pretty flexible, so the chiropractor just assumed that I was ok since I could touch my toes. He'd adjust me, tell me not to do the poses that aggravated my symptoms, and sent me on my way. But Dr. Ricky is a completely different experience! His intake is very thorough, and he's attentive and knowledgeable about the body. When I explained that I used to be able to reach beyond my toes, he listened, and explained that a healthy body is a different experience for everyone. He seemed committed to helping me feel better in my body. I've seen Dr. Ricky for a couple of months now-- I'm pain free and my quality of life- including my yoga practice- has improved greatly. I'd forgotten what it felt like to wake up and feel good in the morning and happy to sit on my mat. Another thing I like about Dr. Ricky is that he did not "prescribe" a zillion sessions-- three times per week for the first two or three weeks, then twice per week, then once per week, and now just every other week for maintenance since I've gotten better and stronger. And he told me to call if I had any problems, but of course, I haven't had any ;-). Everyone in the office is friendly, and the office is just a few blocks away from my house- perfect. I'm grateful to Ricky for helping me feel better.

I learned about Ricky (Dr. Fishman) on YELP and through a friend who remembered him as her chiropractor from over 20 years ago! After reading the reviews on YELP, and the additional thumbs up from my friend I decided to pay a visit. Ricky is by far the best and most personable chiropractor I've ever experienced. I actually looked forward to my sessions and was slightly disappointed when my back got better as it meant not being able to go in as often! The sessions were comfortable and did not feel rushed- I felt like Ricky took a sincere interest in my health and welfare. He is compassionate and as real as they get. A great chiropractor- an awesome human.
