I was referred to Dr. Pamela Eckmann in July 2005 by a friend. I had been treated by a chiropractor all thru college and had received pain relief thru adjustments.
I told Dr. Pam the exact same spill about my condition, my complaints, etc., that I had told numerous (20+) "board certified" neurologists over the previous 13 years. But either she heard something different, or was (my guess) actually paying attention.
When I told her that my arms go numb when I sneeze. Yes, I know that sounds weird. Painful pins & needles numb from half way above my elbow to the tips of my fingers. Feels almost like hitting your funny bone, but the pain migrates much higher and stays a lot longer.
She immediately told me to demand an MRI from the "tool" neurologist I was seeting at the time.. (He had the personality of a "brick wall"... post to come). She also said that she didn't want to do any adjustments to my upper back or neck until I had my results. I was concerned as I had just had an MRI 9 months earlier that was deemed "normal."
The MRI was scheduled for August 10th. My diagnosis: Arnold Chiari Malformation I with 8mm herniation. We called for the films from my previous MRI, only to find out that a 5mm herniation (at the time) was overlooked.
The "BrickWall", in my appointment after my diagnosis said... "see that part of your brain right there, it isn't supposed to be there. live with it" No explanation or anything. My mom was appalled. I had scheduled another appointment with Dr. Pam the same afternoon as Brick Wall. She got out all of her books, her statues & models, and explained everything she knew about the condition and all the symptoms that I had been complaining about that could be caused by my ACM.
Chiropractic adjustments to my neck could severely hinder my condition... even though I was blindly having them done throughout my college years - this is what happens after 13 years of misdiagnoses. Dr. Pam knew enough to not do anything that could potentially hurt me... while still taking care of me and my lower back.
If La Plaza Family Chiropractic was not so far from Allen, I would still be a patient here cause my lower back could really use an adjustment.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jerrid S.Fort Worth, TX15753Feb 8, 2019
Excellent adjuster! I've been suffering from really bad work related back, shoulder, and neck pain. I've been left disappointed by other chiropractors who couldn't even crack my back. It took Dr. Eckmann only a few minutes to assess me and was quickly able to make the perfect adjustments. It wasn't till the next morning that I realized how badly I had needed the relief. Highly recommended.

Dr Eckman is amazing. She is insightful, intuitive, thorough, caring and uses lots of resources at her disposal. My family has been going for many years and will continue to do so.

I love the way she treats her patients, kind, down to earth, is very careful depending on your situation and what you have going on and she still uses her hands. Massager, activator all of those in addition to hand power.
I go every 3-4 weeks to get adjusted, as well as my daughter and my mom.
thank you Dr. Eckmann!

Dr. Pam is very thorough but conservative. She doesn't ask for a bunch of unnecessary x-rays and stuff. She tells you things to do between treatments to help. She focuses on making you better quickly and then zooms in for what's going to help long term. I'm an RN and am very cautious about who treats me and how. I'm amazed at how refreshed I feel every time I leave her office. I have never felt pressured (as I did at another chiropractors office) to have treatments more frequently than I could afford or what I thought was necessary. I trust Dr. Pam.
