Dr. Hagen was referred to me by a pediatric neurosurgeon, so you can imagine that I trusted this suggestion. Wow, did he not disappoint. I'd already seen about a dozen oral surgeons over the years to do work - including three implants and bone grafting. They all wanted to take bone from another place, use cadaver, or even do a bridge. Dr. Hagen was the only one who was innovative enough to use some kind of bone forming matrix. It was miraculous. My face was ridiculous for about two weeks, but in the end it was worth it. This was all about five years ago, and to this day his work remains outstanding. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat.

Dr. Neil Hagen is, no doubt, one of the most skilled, knowledgeable, empathic and professional oral surgeons in dentistry today. Each time that I have had oral surgery with him, he was a very calming presence, explaining every procedure before proceeding. His assistant, Vanessa, telephoned me a few hours after my extraction just to check on how my post-extraction phase was progressing. Dr. Hagen and his staff are absolutely 5 stars and I would give them even more stars if that were possible.

I have been to Dr Hagen twice - once in 2007 and once last week. He is incredibly consistent and unbelievably skilled. He is an MD DDS - he is a Maxillofacial surgeon which requires all kinds of training, skill and dedication. He repairs cleft lips among other things besides doing implants.

The second time I went to him (this year) I was a very high risk patient - I had recently had a heart attack and two stents put in. I needed a severely abscessed tooth extracted which needed extraction now because it was infected and could cause me problems bec of my condition but if he did the extraction wrong or at all I could bleed to death bec I am on blood thinners. He couldn't properly anesthetize me because that could cause me to go into cardiac arrest and a nerve block could also cause me to die. I also could no go off the blood thinners or I might die. Somehow he got the tooth out with only a local and a partial block, and he packed it with blood clotting agent so I didn't bleed to death. He is a miracle worker and a courageous and skilled surgeon. If I was ever caught in a fox hole and the enemy was advancing and I had no weapon if this guy jumped in and said "follow me" I'd follow him anywhere.

Im not sure why this dentist does not have hundreds of reviews. I guess he doesn't want to pay YELP the fee :) Yes Yelp is known to contact business owners and tell them that they can have more visibility if they pay a certain amount. I have experienced that first hand. Anyways this review is not for Yelp but for Neil Hagen. This review is based on my experience as well as people I have recommended to see him for tooth implant work

I got my tooth implant from him more than 10 years ago and I have to say that it is worth every penny. I waited this long to write a review so I can base this review on the quality of his work through a long period of time. Yes he might be out of network, yes he might be a tad more expensive and you can think of other "buts" but it trumps what you get from him. This is your teeth we are talking about and you need to make sure it is handled by someone who knows what he is doing. There is no one better to do implants in my opinion but Neil Hagen. He has a great personality, very professional and has a good sense of humor. He is very skilled and thorough when it comes to his work. I don't trust a lot of professionals in the medical field only because I feel that their first priority is to make money off patients rather than making them well. This guy does make money but his primary goal is to get your problem solved. Case in point, after 6 years, I was having a problem with my implant. He took me in, checked it and recommended a fix, no fee. He guarantees his work. My hubby who he worked on had a problem with his implant only to find out that Dr Feldman who handled the crown put the wrong crown (UNBELIEVABLE!). Dr Hagen helped us with contacting the doctor and making sure they corrected their mistake. Who does that? This was not Hagen's mistake yet he got involved without a fee. Without his help, I doubt that Feldman's practice would have fixed the issue. During the fix, Feldman's office said it will take a month to get the screw, Dr Hagen stepped in and said, pick up the screw from our office and get it done right away. All this he did without asking for a single cent. Who does that these days? I have so much respect and admiration for this man and if I can give 10 stars I would. Enough of Hagen, I don't want his head to swell. I can see him reading this with a proud grin. Go ahead Dr Hagen, take it all in, YOU DESERVE IT!

He has a thriving practice.. His team is top notch. Well, l except for Mirta who does not get a 5 star rating in my book and needs to work on her customer service skills. I won't dwell on the details of my experience with her because I will go to Dr Hagen whether she is there or not. That's how I like this guy. All other employee in his practice that I have encountered have been wonderful but special shout out to Veronica who is the face of his practice. She works the front lines and would be your first line of contact. She does a great job and is such an asset to his practice. During our problem with Feldman, she was extremely helpful during the process. I am hoping I don't have to see Dr Hagen again in my lifetime for tooth related issues but if I ever need an implant regardless of where I am in the world, I will only be seeing Dr Neil Hagen! .

      First to Review

Having lived in a lot of cities during my life (and been to a lot of dentists), Dr. Neil Hagen is one of the best! I had serious trepidations regarding my dental implant surgery and was nervous throughout the procedure. Dr. Hagen not only made me feel at ease (as much as was possible), but completed the procedure in a fantastic manner. His team was also supportive and helpful throughout. I'd highly recommend Dr. Neil Hagen and his crew to anyone in Chicago proper who needs serious dental work. They're fantastic!
