Neighborhood: La JollaFresh and delicious. They put Jamba Juice to shame and I love JJ. Their mango smoothie is to die for and I feel healthier after every sip. They are very nice in there too. . .

I'm not a huge fan of processed pasteurized juice. I find myself craving for REAL freshly squeezed fruit without any additives. I guess I was in the right place at the right time when I saw Dr. Juice. Of all places, too - in The Cove where you would find expensive shops and restaurants.
So I ask the Dr. if he uses real fruits even though out of the corner of my eye, I see all of the fruits lined up against the wall. He tells me he ran out of vegetables for the day, so only fruit juice is available. Darn! Okay, so I order the Jordan River (pineapple, banana, cantaloupe, strawberry, and apple) for $3.99.
You can get powder supplements free of charge for smoothies, otherwise it's $.50. A tasty refreshment that won't make you feel guilty.
(It's easy to miss - it's on a side street heading towards the water.)

I remember coming to this spot a while back while just cruising around La Jolla and thought I'd go inside and try out their smoothies since it was quite a hot sunny day.
I was amazed at the way it came out, very tasty and smooth and did not taste artificial at all. it def hit the spot and cooled me down.
I came to Dr. Juice because I felt like I was about to keel over. I spent the preceding night hanging out with my friends and getting to know and an old acquaintance of mine, Charles Shaw (hey I was a poor college student).
Dr. Juice seemed to be the answer to all my prayers because I was able to find a quick cheap healthy meal in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the State. I'm not juicer and I don't drink that many smoothies but Dr. Juice sells great sandwiches and snacks like fruit and cottage cheese. It is very convenient for beach goers because it is just steps away from the La Jolla Cove.
Also, Dr. Juice is a great safety net because if you out in La Jolla, you will inevitably want to pay a visit to the neighborhood Haagan Dazs , but if you are jonesing for something cold and sweet you can get healthy, tasty smoothie at Dr. Juice instead.
When I visited Dr. Juice, I didn't get smoothie, I got yummy veggie burger. It was tasty and it gave me some pep, but did little to cure my hangover.
But I guess I should put the blame on Mr. Shaw, not Dr. Juice.
