I friggin love Dr. Galaif. There was that time that she did my Cooter Inspection with half her lunch stuck in her teeth, but I'll forgive her. John the RN is also fantastic, having to pinch hit my exam because Dr. Galaif was on vacation and I needed my anti-baby prescription refilled ASAP. I have never been called girlfriend (like that...you know...three snaps in Z formation etc.) while having my cervix probed.
Also, they're letting me squeeze in a six month HPV vaccine process into two months so that I can do it while I'm still eligible - there's an age cut off, since my entire physiology will apparently implode on my 27th birthday.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Jen O.Portland, OR2841834Jan 28, 2008
It's never kosher when you're strippin' down for a pelvic exam only to be interrupted by a fire alarm and forced to throw everything back on and evacuate, but Dr. Galaif and her assistant Ruby made it as enjoyable as it they could when we finally were allowed back in the premises.
The doctor seems super sweet. Very intuitive...she noticed I was on the verge of nearly FAINTING from shock after the exam (no fault of her own, just my low threshold for pain) and allowed me some extra time to stay in the room and take a breather.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Victoria S.San Francisco, CA17337958Sep 19, 2007
Dr. Galaif is very nice and asks many questions regarding any concerns that you might be having. I rated her three stars because I don't feel she was the right person for me. Working in the the health care industry myself, there were questions that I had asked that involved her area of specialty, and she didn't have the answers. She was unfamiliar with the information I was inquiring about. What??? This is in your specialty as a Gynecologist! That was a red flag for me.
As an Obstetrician she must be great, because most of the positive reviews I see written are those ladies that are already pregnant and go to her for pre-natal care. As I left her office, I left with the answers unknown....so once again I will have to search for a new Gyn. Sorry for the mediocre review Dr. Galaif but I have to be honest here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cary M.San Francisco, CA13471Jul 25, 2008
Not awful, just not good. My regular doctor recommended Dr. Galaif as my OBGYN for pregnancy. I'm sure she's fine, but we want an out of hospital birth, an idea which she evidently found to be crazy... I believe the direct quote (answering the question "can you direct us to any resources for researching midwifes, home births and birthing centers?") was "Um, this is San Francisco. People are well educated here. Most well educated people prefer to have the best medical treatment available for their pregnancy and birth." to which we just nodded dumbly and got out as quickly as we could.

I had the weirdest experience here! I arrived today for my 3:00pm appointment with Dr. Galaif with ten minutes to spare. I had planned for my husband to give me a ride and he made sure his work schedule would allow for him to take me there and back. He was parked on the street working on his computer while I was in my appointment. So anyways, I get to the office and not a single person was in there besides the receptionist and I! No typical chessy softrock or any office appliances chattering in the background! Dead silence! It was really weird and I felt like I was in the twilight zone! So the receptionist leads me into the exam room to weigh me and take my blood pressure, and lets me know that Dr. Galaif will be in soon to start the appointment! So........tick.tock.tick.tock....after reading Glamour and Jane magazines....I lay on the exam table seat thing and fall asleep!!! I wake up and still no sign of the doctor! It's now 4:05pm, I have waited for over an HOUR! So, I wake up and ask the receptionist about how long until the doctor will be in, she replies, "Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you!"----WTF!?! So I go back to my "napping room" and then I get kinda pissed. Not cool! I understand that people can run behind schedule, BUT the I think I deserve the courtesy of being informed if there is a delay at least right? I don't think that Dr. Galaif would have appreciated me much if I arrived to my appointment over an hour late, expecting to be seen!
DON'T GO HERE unless you like to take power naps on exam tables!

Avoid this practice like a plague. The doctors from this practice failed to show up for the delivery of my baby. I was a patient of Dr. Galaif. That day she was on call. I was scheduled to deliver my baby at California Pacific Medical Center. I was in the hospital for quite a number of hours. Not even once did ANY doctor from this practice bother to show up to even examine me. Not even once. Then they ignored me and did not come for the delivery. Dr. Fang only showed up to deliver the placenta. If you want to have quality medical care, please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!
For those of you with similar experiences, please do not hesitate to contact me!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle T.Los Angeles, CA2238Nov 6, 2009
I really enjoy (as much as you can say that for an OB) going to Dr. Galaif at Golden Gate OB/GYN. She has successfully navigated me through 2 pregnancies and now I'm onto my 3rd (and last). Even though I live 45 miles away I still go back to her because I trust that she is giving me the best care and has always given me great advice. She's also been someone I feel I can ask ANY question I may have to. I had to have a c-section with both kids and was great before, during and after the surgery. Love Ruby (her assistant) too!

I have been going to Dr. Galaif for about 10 years before and after baby. I always thought she was friendly, very intelligent and trustworthy, but not super warm and fuzzy. But when I had my baby, I saw a different side of her that I was very impressed with. My baby was in the NICU for the first week and she came and visited me/us a couple times and let me cry on her shoulder. She did not have to do this. Ruby, the receptionist is also great and they are quick. Dr. Galaif has her own office, away from the rest of GG practice so there is never a wait. Only negative is calling, it's nearly impossible to get through to someone live.

Dr. Galaif was my obgyn for my last pregnancy and I could not have been happier. She was extremely nice and never made me feel uncomfortable about asking any questions. My experience at Golden Gate was great. Everyone from the reception to the doctors always made me feel very welcome.

Her appointments were always late. Lazy, rude and incompetent office staff, who couldn't handle phone calls.
Galaif failed to review chart before examination, and failed to spot issues we had to bring to her attention. Failed to realize that an exam needed to be redone because she didn't take the time to review the chart. Failed to forward results of the tests. etc, etc.
We know that doctors are overworked in the HMO nightmare but there is no excuse for this.
Sure, she's "nice" but that's not why we go to the doctor. That's what bars are for. We got away from her as fast as we could.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
