Huge portions. Pretty good food. The shredded beef nachos were awesome. Didn't get to try the margarita but will do next time. The chips and salsa were pretty good too. Good place for a pre dinner gathering before heading over to Choices.
Whats mexican about Spinach tortillas??? And they may not have black beans, but they have whole pinto beans as opposed to refried - which, I might add, is a whole lot more mexican than black beans.
Great go-to place for Benicia - although the wait in the bar can be annoying. To eat on the bar side its first come first serve - hint to the rude people out there....First come first serve doesnt mean "first one to the table". When you walk in, if you see people standing around in the bar, they should be seated at clearing tables before people who JUST walk in and happen to be closer to the table finishing up.
The chips and salsa are awesome, although every once in awhile the batch of chips is really greasy and shouldn't be served. Great margaritas...awesome burritos. However, on several....SEVERAL occasions my order has been messed up in some way. But it doesn't stop me from eating at Randys once a week or so - great prices, nice workers.
PS - the corn dogs and fries are on the KIDS menu, Einstein. And thank god for that, because my 2 year old nephew loves them!

MY GO TO PLACE FOR GOOD MEXICAN FOOD!!!!
I have been a returning customer at Randy's for years. I rarely sit in the restaurant side, I am big fan of the bar. I love the high tables and ambiance in the bar, which is full service just as the restaurant.
The food is pretty good. I usually stuck with a burrito, taco salad or tostada. The Nachos are great, could easily feed 4...literally. The chips and salsa are to die for. The salsa is home made and available for purchase to take home and munch on. Randy's also caters!
The bar is well equipped, full bar, margarita machine and lots of tequilas to choose from. Be sure and try "Dahl's margarita" it's goooooood.
Around 5:30 on any given night there is a wait for a tall table in th bar, so be prepared, but well worth the wait. The bar is first come first serve, which is irritating, but the restaurant side will take names if you want to wait.
Randy's is closed from 2:30-5:00 pm for siesta, as well as on Mondays.
Good soild American Mexican food. This place would be a 2-3 star if it was in LA. Buuuuut since it is in little old Benicia, its the best Mexican around. Great chicken soup. Great service. Great chips and salsa. Now just give me a beer and I'm good.
Celiacs - Pay Attention! Okay, paying attention? Good :) Randy's will listen to you and answer any cross-contamination questions you may have.
Three times now they have listened, explained and brought me a completely gluten-free dish.
Yes, it is only ONE dish. However, if enough Celiacs start asking for more items - perhaps they will have some more selection.
Now, the thing to order is a chicken salad. Make sure the chicken is boiled (this is just done in water, salt and pepper) and make sure you bring your own dressing. The lettuce is in separate containers (not with croutons) and they will make sure it goes directly on your plate. If you want veggies, I believe they have a separate veggie cutting station that does NOT come in contact with the gluten infested stations. But make sure you do the usual, ask lots of questions, if the waitress or waiter can't explain it, ask for Randy or one of the more experienced staff. The chicken is moist and delicious. The salad itself, a little dead, but that is why you need to BYOD (Bring Your Own Dressing).
Again, I have had this salad three times and have not had one reaction. Trust me, if it was cross-contaminated, I would know within 5 minutes. Let's make this one of the gluten-free zones (or at least a small half of it).
4 Stars! Listening and question answering is very desirable, just make sure to ask for an experienced waitress or the owner.

Holy Shit, I love this place! This is one of the only reasons I will venture back to my hometown of Benicia, it's probably the only worthy thing there. Come hungry because everything is ginormous are decently priced. I have many great memories here! Thanks Randy!
This is definately the best mexican restaurant in the Vallejo/Benicia area. Their portions are big for a really good price. I love the chimichangas, the portion is so big i can never finish it, which means I always have leftovers for a late night snack or something. Nice place to kickback on a normal night with friends, totally relaxed and chill.
Another restaurant that I miss from Benicia..oh well. Their best dish, in my opinion? Chimichangas, baby! There's nothing better than a deep-fried burrito..yeah. :) It's hard for me to find a comparable chimichanga down here in So cal now. Anyways-- Randy's is (From my memory, I moved away 4 years ago) half split into a bar, and the other half is the restaurant. It was a nice place for casual meals, or something fancy sometimes...
My ex-b/f and I used to order drinks here for me when I was underage, gosh we were such brats. Usually I would mooch off his margarita when the bartender wasn't looking (this worked better in the bar area, during slow service)....and once during I think the Fourth of July celebration, we sat outside, he ordered a couple drinks and wa-la...I was 17, happy, drinking some alcohol out on First Street.
That isn't to say they serve alcohol to minors all the time or anything, we were just sneaky and didn't give a fuck. :P
OMG this place is the best! I am new to the area and was driving around and passed this place. It looked busy so I thought i would give it a try. It was soooooooooo good. I had the super burritto with chicken, the chips and salsa on the side were amazing too! This place would easily compete with the mexican taqueria's in San Francisco!
It's Randy's!! Where else can you get the huge honkin SUPER BURRITO for $6.95?!? The place has great food... burritos are good, fajitas are even better. Buy the super burrito, eat half for lunch, don't eat dinner that night because you're so full, and eat the other half for lunch tomorrow. Great lunch place if you work in Benicia. It does get a little packed during lunchtime, and (like everyother restaurant in Benicia) is closed on Mondays. Well, I guess it's Sandovals time on Mondays....
I'd say that this is the best mexican restaurant in the Vallejo-Benicia area. The laid-back/cozy/casual atmosphere, the unlimited chips and salsa and the FANTASTIC-quality food at affordable/reasonable prices (during lunch!) are gold in my book! The food is authentic and fresh compared to what you would get at the other end of town, Chevy's -- for about the same prices or cheaper. Services aren't too bad. I've had the chicken enchilada, burritos and quesadilla appetizers and they were out of these towns! The lines are usually out the door for dinner.

I have to give Randy's a 5 because they have the most consistently delicious food. I eat a lot of Mexican food, and there is not a single restaurant I would rather eat at than Randy's. The fajitas are to die for. The steak, chicken and shrimp are always incredibly fresh and tasty. They have the BEST top shelf Margarita called the Elvita Rita. The bartenders have a heavy hand with the Grand Marnier to make it especially delicious. Yes, there often is a wait, but chill in the bar, anywhere you can sit down, grab a Margarita, and wait your turn. When you get your food, you won't be disappointed. Try the chicken soup for a cheap, delightful specialty.
In response to the review regarding the food as "American tasting", yeah, it is, but the rice is so moist, the whole beans are always fresh, the meat is all top quality and seasoned exceptionally, fresh, hot chips and salsa immediately after sitting down, isn't that what America is all about????????

Randy's is what it is. It's a restaurant and sports bar. The owner is young, but I've never seen anyone more on top of his establishment. Randy's is a locals hangout and has great family style mexican food. The dining area is a little small and cramped, and you sometimes have to wait a while for a table, but that's because the food is so good, and the service is great. I always get the impression he treats his staff well too.

Randy's has good, authentic Mexican food. Chips are always hot. The salsa is at the perfect temperature. Their chile rellano is made from a fresh chile (not canned as in other restaurants). Their super burritos are huge and delicious. We bring home leftovers every time.
From my observation, Randy's is the only Mexican restaurant in town open on Sundays.
The reason I'm not giving them a 5 is because service is on the mediocre side. When they are busy, it's even worse. It takes a while for the food to come out. The other disappointment is the lack of Horchata on the menu.
It's still worth it on nights I'm not pressed for time. The food is never dissapointing.
Best place in town to hang out. Ditto on the other comments. We like to hang out in the bar area because they always play good music, have a laid back atmosphere, and no kids. It only takes one Elvia Margarita to get things started......(Especially Tony's!!!) I use to bartend and am very picky for a good rita and they do it right.
completely average Mexican food tailored for American tastes with a nice bar attached next door that always seems busy. For better and more authentic Mexican food in town try Mi Mexico, a couple of blocks North on 1st Street.
THE BEST Mexican in town, by far. Atmosphere is fun, always busy, esp. Fri and Sat nights. My fave's are the Chili Verde and Chicken Tortilla soup. Huge portions, great food, fun bar area on one side, restaurant on the other.
