On a whirlwind trip to Savannah, my colleague booked this hotel through Priceline. We got it for a steal of a price: $80 per night. The hotel is clean, gorgeous, and located in the heart of the Historic District. Our room was on the sixth floor, the top floor. We also had an odd numbered room, which had a beautiful view of the park and old church across the street.

Upon arrival, we had a swift check in and the concierge gave us complimentary bottles of water and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies: a Doubletree signature. During our week-long stay, we dined at the hotel's restaurant for breakfast. Our business booking allowed us free coupons for the buffet. Even though we misplaced some, the front desk was more than accommodating to issue us new ones. Breakfast itself was acceptable with lots of Southern cooking: fried grits, three kinds of egg frittatas, bacon, two kinds of sausage. A few healthier fruit dishes would have been a treat.

Our double bedroom was spacious with modern decor and a white cotton washable duvet. My colleague and I both had the best night's sleep here, and even dozed through the alarm one morning. Doubletree is definitely a home-away-from-home!

The location of the hotel worked great for us, as it was in walking distance of many local restaurants, parks, and unique shops. City Market is just around the corner as is the riverfront. Plan on doing a lot of foot travel. The only downside to the hotel is that since it is within the Historic District, parking is sparse. Doubletree charges $17 per day for parking and has valet. There aren't really any other options for self-parking, so in addition to the daily fee, you have to add a tip for the valet service. However, I believe all the other positives of the hotel outweigh the parking; besides, Savannah is a walkable city!

If you're looking for a great place to stay for business or pleasure, Doubletree comes with my highest recommendation!

The Doubletree was running a great special, so it was time for a road trip. The hotel is very nice and in a great location, near River Street. So you are in the thick of the action. The hotel was clean. The rooms were fine. Nothing out-of-the-ordinary. The staff was friendly, and they let us check in early. The breakfast buffet is a little pricey. It's slightly better than your average, mid-range hotel buffet, but I would eat elsewhere, if you can.

The biggest thing I hate about going to a Hilton is the fact that some of my money may find its way into Paris HIlton's pocket. Makes you think twice.

The rooms here seem to be pretty standard for a Doubletree, in terms of size and appointments, with the exception of the four post bed and the lamps made from old books. Not many of the rooms here have balconies, which is a bit of a disappointment -- and the balconies on the corner rooms are small and wedge-shaped. This is what we ended up with.  It was nice to have, but I wouldn't have wanted the upgrade if it cost me any extra. I would also have liked a refrigerator in the room.  In the past at other locations (even Hampton Inns) I've been able to call and have a fridge brought into the room when one was not included.  I didn't try this here, so that may be a possibility.

The soap/shampoo/conditioner stuff smells really good, "Crabtree & Evelyn Citron".  I'm not a connoisseur of such things so that's all I can really tell you.

There is a bar area downstairs amongst the several nicely appointed common rooms, and the bartender there was friendly. Another room has a big comfy couch in front of a fireplace.

Breakfast is buffet-style, with pancakes, waffles, and omelets made to order.  There was plenty there to fill me up, but I wouldn't say that the food was too memorable. At the normal price of $15 per person, you're better off skipping the breakfast in favor of an in-town option unless you get the breakfast for free through the HHonors benefits.

Finally, valet parking (which is mandatory, you cannot park yourself) is $15 a day, so don't forget to factor that into the price.  I wish the Hilton properties that do this would stop and at least factor the charge into the advertised room rate.  Better yet, drop the charge altogether because we all know it's a meaningless crap charge.

Thought the customer service was outstanding!  Great location!  I was very impressed with the room for the price we paid.  Any staff we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. Most importantly, the beds were so so so comfortable!

Such a great hotel!  I loved my little suite but the best part about this hotel was the staff.

I'm not sure that they knew what they were getting into by hosting a group of 2000 "runners" this past weekend, but they handled everything perfectly and with a smile - from the never ending supply of beer in our hospitality suite to graciously offering laundry services when we all walked in covered in swamp water and mud.

I think that they enjoyed our shenanigans as much as we did.

Great location, easy walking to shops, restaurants and parks.  Room was large, bet was comfortable, and staff was very helpful and friendly.  Wish that they had high definition tv's and a small refrigerator in the rooms.

Overall it was a good experience.

We stayed at this Doubletree on Friday night and it is a very nice hotel.

We arrived about 11am and they allowed us to check in right away; so we were very thankful we didn't have to wait until the normal 4pm check in time. At check in we were given some very wonderful and warm chocolate chip cookies and the valet took us and our bags to the room.

The room we had was one of the smaller and cheaper rooms, but I can't complain about that since we did use a voucher for the free night's stay and only had to pay the parking fee of $15.

While at the hotel we enjoyed pool, hot tub, and bar. The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us and answer any questions that we had about where to eat, what to see, what to do, etc...

This has always been one of my favorite hotels in Savannah since they first built it as a Raddison.

Let's make this quick, as we're all busy people here.
Hotel location is great. Walking distance from the River Walk, for some fine tourist trap time, if that's what you in for. The Rooms are clean and beds are very comfy. If you're lucky they will give you a view of the bridge that is very nice. Breakfast buffet is nice and with enough variety to make it worth it.

The bad: They charge you $25 A NIGHT to use the valet service and park your car, and you won't find alternatives there, as Savannah is terrible for parking on the street. I think it would have been more honest to add it to the room price. It just feels like one of those bail-and-switch things that just piss you off. With that said, the warm cookie they give you when you check in is nice.

I stayed there one night and would definitely go back - the valet parking person, Eric, was awesome - recommended places to go; spoke with me every time I ran in to him - made me feel welcome and part of the family.  My room wasn't ready but he parked my car (extra charge for parking -- $15) and took my bag to my room - it was there waiting for me when I got there a few hours later.

The room was amazing - big bed that was beyond comfortable.  All the staff were very helpful.

    Its in a good location.

The only thing I didn't like was that the tub was so shallow.

Ohhh my gosh, I love Savannah. It's SO beautiful and has such a unique charm to it. You'll never want to leave. And this hotel was the capstone to a wonderful week in the south.

The hotel is very well-equipped, with friendly staff, a starbucks on the main floor, very nice suite rooms. Everything you can want. AND it's RIGHT on the water, so if you're lucky enough to be on the right side, you can see the iconic ferry boats cruising down the Savannah River.

At night, walk down the water side and have your pick of tons of restaurants, bars, candy stores and the like. It reminded me of a cross between the AC boardwalk (but waaaay nicer) and New Orleans. It's so incredibly romantic, too -- complete with kids selling single roses on the boardwalk. Too bad I was with my boss... AWKWARD!

Anyway, loved it. Think I'll retire here.

    Well located in Historic District.

Good room and service, including free Internet service in lobby. After returning home, when I reported an item I had left in my room, the hotel promptly returned it.

Hotel has a restaurant, where we had only breakfast. Other meals are available. It also has a rooftop pool.

The is is a prime location for seeing all the touristy hoopla of downtown Savannah.  You can walk to anything worth doing easily. For that alone it's worth the asking price.
The hotel is very nice , the staff is very friendly and the room was awesome. We booked the bed and breakfast special. So the price included comps for the buffet.
The beds are big and comfy. i slept like the dead! The bath tub was big enough for full submersion. So I indulged in a long hot soak. The supplied coffee was surprisingly tasty. And of course the DT cookies are the jam!
The breakfast buffet was a lot larger than I had anticipated. There were a ton of choices and everything that I tried was pretty good for heat tray food.
The only downside is the 15$ add on for parking, It wouldn't have been an issue if the valets had been available any of the times we went back for our car. We had to hunt them down to get our vehicle. Inconvenient but not a deal breaker.

I almost stayed at the Westin, which was hooked to the convention center (which is why I was there) and I am SO HAPPY that I did not stay at the Westin.

My stay was wonderful.  And that warm cookie upon check in makes a nice after midnight snack when you are coming back from a fun night at Savannah Smiles, walking distance from the hotel.

When I made my reservation they only had a room with 2 doubles available, but upon check in, they were able to upgrade me for no extra charge to a beautiful and spacious suite with a large soft bed and their signature 'sweet dreams' pillow on top.

I had a nice roomy workspace with free internet connection and the one day I ordered room service (for lunch) they were prompt and the burger was delicious.

I also enjoyed the full breakfast buffet, which was a bit on the pricey side (about $12.95) but it hit the spot, and was a quick way to fill up before a long work day at the convention across the river.

I am not sure if the water taxi to Hutchinson Island is free all the time, but at the time of my stay, the water taxi was a 5 minute walk and completely free to the convention center/Hutchinson Island.

The only part that I did not particularly enjoy was that your car had to be valet parked, which is wonderful, especially when you are me and have a hard time parrallel parking!!!  BUT on the morning of check out, EVERYONE was checking out, which resulted in having to wait about 30 minutes for your car - if they knew that everyone would be checking out that morning - I wish they had more staff.

Other then that, I had a pleasant stay, very good location, walking distance from everything, and I look forward to staying there again!

I love the location.  Everything is walking distance.  Very friendly service.  We asked if they had a refridgerator to keep our leftovers in for the night, and they brought a minifridge up to our room within minutes.  I love getting a warm cookie when I check in.  The room was ok.  Big bed but no desk and no counterspace in the bathroom and not much room to move around.  We got a corner room so we heard no noise from other guests.  Typical breakfast buffet, but that costs extra.  It's valet parking and that costs $15 extra per day.  There is a small assortment of complimentary toiletries at the front desk if you forget something.  Nice pool deck on the second floor.  This is one of the few hotels in Savannah with a hot tub.

Although there were a couple things I didn't like about it, the good things outweigh the bad.  I would stay here again.

The staff was fantastic!  We arrived late in the evening and their staff provided excellent service from our check-in to our check-out.  I had a complaint in our room however, it was handled immediately.  In result, we were accomodated in a upgrade and not charged the difference for our inconvenience.  They pride in customer satisfaction and our party was very satisfied.  Keep up the good work and I hope to visit again.
