One of the best parts of my stay at this Doubletree was the A+ bartender who was rocking it out on Saturday night after two weddings finished up and poured into the bar. He kept my glass filled the whole night while pouring shot after shot of patron and handling 7or 8 big tabs pretty much by himself. So props to you bartender man!
I also love Doubletree bedding. So comfortable, plush and plenty warm.
The Sunday afternoon wedding I attended was well looked after by the hotel staff, but I can't help but think there are many better places in LA to have a wedding. San Pedro is in the middle of nowhere!
Yes the cookies are good, but they don't really make up for the only 3 towels they provided for the room. Shouldn't a room with 2 beds get 4 towels??? The cookies also don't make up for the fact the the room wasn't cleaned after our 2nd night. And they don't make up for the room service trays strewn outside many rooms at all hours of the days. So - housekeeping, you get a D-
The pool was nice and so was the hotel security guard, who was clearly there for the benefit of the guests and not to give the guests a hard time. Valet guy you rock too, my car showed up at exactly the right time to get me to the airport for my early morning flight.
I usually like Doubletrees. They are a bit expensive, which is why i generally expect all the normal parts of a hotel experience to at least be acceptable.
This Doubletree location is really disappointing, since I've stayed at others and are much nicer.
The good:
lobby bar is great with views of the waters, boats, a really chill spot. The warm welcome of chocolate chip cookies. The bed is super comfy, towels are lush and great room view.
The bad:
The hallways smelled musty for some reason, the A/C that was a wall unit gave a us headache and had that same musty smell coming from it, so we opened the window and turned it off, bathroom needed updating, cracked floor tile, small chippings on the sink bowl, hot water took about 10 minutes talk about wasting water, where's the plasma?
I'd give a try to another hotel in the area than visiting this hotel a 2nd run. It was on the top of pricey, I thought. I bet I would have had a better experience at local boutique hotel...because I almost always do.
I was very happy with my stay here. There was a death in the family, and so I had to quickly make plans to travel down south (I live in SF, CA). Being an employee of the Hilton chain, I was lucky enough to get the employee rate. On the day of checkin, I needed an extra room and when I called the hotel while on my way there, they completely understood my situation and offered me a second room at the best available employee family rate.
The hotel is very big, the lobby is very nice looking and the front desk staff were welcoming. They allowed us to checkin early, gave us the rooms we req and gave us fresh baked cookies! 2 bags!
The room I stayed in had 2 queen beds. The room seemed a little on the smaller side, sorta cramped, but overall it was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had dinner one evening at the restaurant inside the hotel and the food unfortunately was not very good (I recommend dining out).
I did not have breakfast nor use the gym facilities so I cannot rate those amenities but the pool was great!
Overall, good experience.
Courtesy of my boyfriend's work, I got a one night "vacation" in San Pedro. Hey, it's a room for the night that I don't have to pay for, I'll take it.
I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my life, and it seems strange, but I was impressed by the Doubletree. The bed was really comfortable, the sheets were clean and soft, and the bath towels were soft. Really soft, actually. Not at all like the sandpaper you usually expect from hotels.
It's a nice location in San Pedro, and I did some walking around the Cabrillo Marina the next morning.

I had trouble believing this place was only built in 2006, as it already seems a bit neglected...nevertheless, the quality and service is typical Doubletree, which means decent if not excellent. The hot foods at the breakfast buffet are all soggy though, due to the odd holders of same, which make them unappetizing...nice bagels though, and many rooms have patio decks overlooking the adjacent marina which is pleasant.
If for some reason you HAVE to go to San Pedro, the Doubletree isn't bad. It's clean, the sheets are nicely pressed, the view of the boats in the harbor's nice, and the 75-year-old bartender is a riot! The decor has a retirement resort sort of feel to it, or maybe that was just the bartender... Did I mention that she was up at 1:30am serving us Irish Car Bombs??!
The hotel is still under construction, but that means the rooms are all fairly new (all except for the bathtub which could use some work). I recommend testing out your a/c unit before going to sleep because our room was about 80 degrees when I woke up in the morning.

I can not say enough bad things about this hotel; especially when considering the price. First, our roomservice we pre-ordered never did come, the pool was a mosspit (the oilslick bay and marina were much cleaner), there were never any towels at the pool, our room was not cleaned until 6:30pm and only after I called to complain. The manager never did return my calls.
The only two nice things are the location and the breakfast. The location is only good if you live in LA otherwise, tourist stay away. Unless you have to stay there I really wouldnt.
This hotel is awesome! Their restaurant is small but turns out really good food. Their bar has some of the cheapest prices. That's very un-ordinary for a Lobby bar. Their staff are always on efficient and quick. If you ain't staying in Long Beach, check this place out. It's only 5 miles away and has complimentary parking and shuttle service. Why spend $200+ on a room in DT LB when you can get something comparable for less in Pedro?

I used to live in town and would love to walk at the Marina...still go down there sometimes to do just that. Sometimes my friend and I would stop in and have a drink at this hotel's bar, or lunch on the patio. The lunch was mediocre but the bar service is pretty good and cheap, for a hotel. One of the longtime bartenders is really nice. There is also another longtime bartender who is sweet, bless her heart, but as slow as molasses and getting a bit long in the tooth. Nice place to sit and have a drink inside or out, or relax and have some lunch. Friendly patrons every time I've been at this hotel bar. They do have a happy hour as well with appetizers. I think it's 5-7? Or it was at least, and they give a cocktail mix at the bar, which is nice. I haven't stayed at the hotel but it's a nice facility, although a little unimaginative in the decor dept.
